Yessss to the airplane analogy!! I'm a manager at my company and I believe we truly support work/life balance, so I am pretty frequently using this same analogy with employees who feel badly about taking time off or calling out sick. We aren't retail so there's no "coverage" needs in that same manner. Take the sick day, take that vacation, refill yourself because if you keep giving and giving and giving, you WILL burn out. Take care of yourself, work will still be here the next day or next week.

Thank you 🙏 for this episode!! You spoke to me as a busy 48 year old mom of two boys, one with special needs ❤️ I lift weights at home as many days per week as I can when I’m not too tired 🥱 My special son has Angelman Syndrome and one symptom we live with his his unpredictable sleep schedule. That’s my biggest obstacle. But I’m trying my best to stay strong and healthy for him and my family 💪💪

Thank you for this message!! ❤ as a mom constantly having to defend myself towards people who don’t understand the “family” concept of taking care of myself and then my kids ❤. Ugh, this episode hits home so bad. Mom of two elementary school kids and I own my own business. So many times have I fallen into the pattern of letting my own health suffer trying to care for them. Work in progress, but I'm trying to get better with it!❤ thank you for another great episode

The amount of dedication and sacrifice that my wife gives to our family goes above and beyond. She may start a program, but then something in life changes and it's the first thing given up so that the needs of the family can be met.I need to do a better job giving her more opportunities to feel comfortable to take time for herself.

Mom of three (3,4 and 8yo). Finally started taking care of myself! Did maps starter (anabolic was too hard for me at first) now I’m on Phase 2 of anabolic. Trying to incorporate daily walks, getting my protein everyday. I can’t recommend these programs enough. If I could, I would buy the summer shredded pack right now. Thanks mind pump for all the invaluable information!

Love this episode, thank you. I know the endorphin rush one gets from exercise and PPD really got me down during the newborn phase, not being able to exercise as usual and dealing with all the body and hormone changes that comes with early motherhood. A huge part of my recovery has been to prioritise my "me time" whether it be gym or running outdoors because my sanity literally relies on it.

Thank you for a great discussion about being a mom and making time for yourself. I'm a dog mom and business owner and I can relate to this very much. I've recently started weight training in my basement gym, just 2 weeks since I found you online - and I look forward to this alone time and not feeling guilty giving myself 1/2 hour every day. At first it felt selfish and now it feels deserved to give me my own work out time. I use my hubby's bench and dumbbells (now it's "my" room lol). Again, thank you for your fantastic advice! Val

Sometimes I feel like you are all in my brain when topics are so on point for me! I was listening while taking my little one on a walk and thinking, "All I can do it walk today.." she's 5 now but needs a lot of care including iv machines at night so between her and machines my sleep was interrupted 3 x last night... I'm at the point of giving up weight loss.. some days I physically feel cortisol rise... I'll keep trying but without decent sleep I don't know how I can manage.. beyond burnt out mom here!

I've finally let go of what I think exercise "should" look like, and have started waking up 20 minutes earlier in the morning to do a few exercises. Another benefit that I didn't expect was the example I'd be setting for the kids. My 3yo loves to "work out" and try to copy me, so I've bought him some little 2lb dumbbells and he loves them. Even my 1yo daughter will steady herself on the ottoman and do squats while grunting and groaning, just like momma, LOL.

First time ever listening to your show. Thank you so much for what you're doing here guys, so maybe I can make sense of what I'm actually supposed to be doing to maintain overall good health and fitness while maybe having a little fun while doing it. If there's anything you would reccomend for me as a beginner in weight lifting/weight training, I would be so appreciative for your input and some direction on which way to go with this. I'm 43 y/o female & a mom too. I could absolutely benefit from losing 20-ish lbs or so but overall. I'm not so much as concerned with/worried with or obsessed with the number on the scale as I am with wanting to tone my body and be in good shape. The rest will take care of itself I hope. Any suggestions on any programs you offer for what I mentioned as well as some direction with maintaining healthy nutrition would be so very appreciated!
Happy Mother's Day to all mom's out there :)

Im close to my 40s, been losing weight with a holistic based weight loss program. After years of losing my body to chronic illness. I said fuck this shit. Im taking my body back. Weight loss has helped tremendously to carry a lighter weight around. Now Im ready for building muscle and stamina. Im also in the mental health field and clinical manager. The stress is high. And i agree with exercise helps with a wider threshold of stress. Okay, rant end. Thanks for reading!

I’ve just found you guys this year and I enjoy listening when I go about my day. Great podcast with great info!
I have a question that I hope someone here can answer. But first…here’s some info about me.
I’m trying to get down to 20% body fat.
I’m a 44 year old female, I’m a shorty at 4’10” and weigh 133lbs. My scale shows me at 32% body fat.
I strength training 4 days a week and have a very physical job 3-4 days a week. I also walk 10k plus steps daily. I eat roughly 1700-1800 calories daily prioritizing protein. I’m in a slight calorie deficit. 90% of my calories come from single ingredient whole foods. I get about 115-150 grams of protein daily.
I’ve been so hungry the past week and I feel like my progress has stalled. Should I bump up my overall calories or my calories coming from protein? Or am I consuming too many calories?
Why has my fat loss stalled? My workouts are great. I’m not exhausted after and I know I’m getting stronger. I’ve been lifting for about 6 months so I’m still learning.
Maybe I need to have patience and trust the process. 😅 Any advice is appreciated.
