- Here is a collection of shots from the town of Elko, NV. The first part is of downtown with a couple of old casinos, older buildings and signs, a small park with older train equipment. Then a couple of shots from the Elko Amtrak station, a shot from my hotel balcony and finally a shot from the top of a nearby hill. Enjoy!! Shot 7/21/13
I live in Elko and it has grown a lot since this video was posted, there’s some new stores and restaurants, a bunch of entirely new neighborhoods and a lot of rich people live up by the ruby view golf course and the nearby town of spring creek had a new school built, they are planning on building a new suburban area across from the middle school. Elko is a lot more alive now than it was six years ago.
Out of control growth is what many are trying to get away from so I cross off any town that is that way. I like the small sleepy towns with home grown businesses and not box or chains stores. My home town of Phoenix was destroyed by rampant growth several decades ago and now they don't have sufficient water to sustain itself. My one remaining relative there (brother) is moving next year away from there.
Moving here in 2 weeks to work as a seasonal Forester. Both excited and anxious.

spent 8 monthes there 24 years ago construction . Liked it a lot beautiful place good people . I love northern nevada If you like open country and arent a boring person its great. It aint new york city or vegas
I lived in that one-horse town and went to Happy Days Pre-School and Northside Elementary from about 1987-89.
I have no idea why, but I LOVED that place as a kid, and was so upset when we moved away. Lived on Hillside Drive and rode my Huffy all over that place.
Oh the memories... the big polar bear, The Red Lion Casino, Stockmen's Casino, the big "E", slot machines everywhere, even in drug stores.
I used too live here a lot of fun memories there

You just have to find your own fun here because the people who own all of the stores and stuff won’t let other business in. For example we don’t have a lot of restaurants that are all over like red lobster or chipotle and stuff like that
And good onya, its better not to have those big chains there, creates bigger economy for the local farmers and businesses, and people

Thats why people move there. To get away from all the garbage of big cities.

Looking at some property near here in an area called Spring Creek. I don't mind the quiet and hey you can shoot here it's a FREE state ! Tired of giving California all my money in taxes and getting nothing back but more laws and taxes smdh.
I live in Spring Creek, kind of laid back low crime, good housing market right now, good jobs if your a miner. There shooting range out here, some just shoot on there property if it more isolated. Taxes low, got the beauty of the Ruby Mountains, all in all it's a nice place if you find the beauty of a desert, great for outdoorsy types

Nearby spring creek is on our list of places we are looking at moving to. What is the internet like there? It looks like there isn't a whole lot to do in town and you can only ride ATVs for so long. Is it good enough for gaming? And what about swimming? Any lakes or anything to swim in. Thank you to those that live here and (hopefully) answer :)

Elko Nevada has some of the biggest mining companies in the U.S so yes there a lot of jobs
