    Just replaced my old genesis with an E-335, with the new system. I added the Wok/steamer last week and the 60% griddle this week. I can use the steamer tray for grilled veggies as well. Tonight will be pizza on a green egg stone. Interested in the cross hatched grate and maybe a rotisserie with skewers.

      The Sear Grate is worth it. The Rotisserie Skewers is not something we get many requests for.

    The hooks are to place it on a baking tray before/after using it. Kind of like a drip tray or to protect the table/counter top from the residual heat. I saw it in another video.

    I'm not sure if Weber would approve, but I have discovered the gap grate will fit just as nicely behind the flat top griddle if I pull the flat top all the way forward using the framekit in my SE-S-335. This saves some heat on my knuckles while cooking.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  4 місяці тому

      It does but for safety reasons they don’t recommend that way. They never elaborated or explained to me why in particular but I did ask that question as I realized that before making the video.

    The only issue I have with the flat top griddle with the griddle grate in place is the heat that comes up out of the space in front of the griddle. It is very uncomfortable even with heavy duty gloves, which are their own issue when griddling. I don't use the spacer grate and move the griddle forward in the frame so that excess heat can escape out the back. This has the added benefit of minimizing the chance of burns from the heating rack.
    p.s. I really like that your rig is obviously well used and no a brand new unit to look pretty in the video.

    Great video, loved the background Music as well, I think the hooks at the side of the basket are just there to lock the basket into the framekit so it can not move from side to side, which can happen if you mix the veggies from time to time with the grill tong for instance.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for watching. Appreciate the kind words. You would think but the hooks don’t actually grip anything including the frame. That’s what I figured too initially but nope.

    Hey Sam. Solid video.
    I just purchased an S-325. I chose the stainless steel over the E-325 enameled version as it seemed to be the better option. However if the double sided sear grate is enameled, did I make the wrong choice? Is this adapter really necessary for steaks? We’re a ribeye family.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Місяць тому +1

      @@MemphisDC no. If you were to compare the basic porcelain enamel grates to the sear grate, the coating is clearly different. Cast iron heats up better than stainless steel because it holds the heat in better. The stainless grates will clean up better and are much sturdier than the basic cast iron grates. This is probably a 10-year grill for you, if not longer. We find our clients want new cast iron grates in half that time whereas our clients with stainless rarely ever need to replace until it’s time for a new grill.
      I would use as is and if you feel you need more heat, then the accessory would be worth it in your case. The flat top accessory or full griddle is 100% worth it. It’s my favorite way to prep burgers.
      Thanks for watching and the kind words.

      @@justgrillin Thanks for the prompt response and explanation. That makes more sense that the sear grate is a different finish that their regular enamel grates. I actually got the 335 grill with the side burner but you sold me on the flat top for the burgers and likely get the sear grill as well. Thanks again!

    Great video. I just received the Genesis E-315 and I wasn’t sure what to with the included frame kit. One question: What is the sear zone red colored burner knob for? It seemed to ignite a burner, but is it only for using the sear zone to make it hotter?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  2 місяці тому

      It’s called a sear zone in that section as it adds a burner between the middle and right side for extra heat. Not a true sear burner but creates a zone of more heat for better searing. The hotter the temp, the better the sear on foods and grill marks. You can use it if you feel like you need it. It’s not required to use for Crafted accessories but can help with the sear grate and wok for sure. Griddle doesn’t need it on.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому +2

      Yes. That is if you bought a second frame kit. Weber says to use the Flat Top between 400-500 degrees on the grill. Not saying you can’t go higher but I’m not sure why they don’t want the grill hotter than that. So you may have some limitations based on that if you follow directions.

      The Flat Top is carbon steel so it’s not as dense as a cast iron skillet would be. The trade off is the cast iron skillet will hold heat better and hotter but the carbon steel heats up relatively faster. The Flat Top gives you more space than a skillet would.
      Cooking results wise probably isn’t very much of a difference.

    I just bought a Costco genesis ii. Looks like it’s a 2021 model. It’s the stainless steeler 4 burner. Do I really need to replace my grates with other grates so this thing will fit?
    Or can I just put this system and and only keep one side of the grill grates I have on now? Obviously created wasted space but I feel like buying $200 grates doesn’t make sense.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому

      You don’t have to buy new grates but you’ll be limited to using the Crafted accessory only when cooking on the lower grates. If you want to cook at the same time with the cooking grates when using a Crafted accessory then you will want to replace the grates to get the right fit.

    Where do you clean your accessories? Kitchen sink or too large and heavy requiring outdoor hose/sink?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  8 місяців тому

      Which accessory? The griddle is self cleaning in a way. Immediately after cooking, pour a small amount of water or ice cubes while the griddle is hot and use a scraper to remove foods. Then just come back through with a lite oil application and it’s good to go. I leave it in the grill.
      The veggie basket could go in the dishwasher (top rack). It’s just big so you would probably run it by itself. Or just high heat burn off and brush as needed.
      Sear grate would just be high heat scrubbing. Or you could soap and water from the hose if needed.
      The baking stone you just heat to high and brush off remnants.
      That answer your question?

    What’s the point of the spacer that comes in the kit and is placed in the front? Why didn’t they just make the griddle & other options the same depth as the grates that come with the grill?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому +1

      I get your point and sentiment. It might not seem like it makes sense but the reason is to streamline the accessories. Rather than offering the same accessory in multiple sizes based on the grill, it’s easier to make one accessory and a few different frame kit sizes instead. These accessories are designed for use on Spirit, Genesis and SmokeFire grills. All of those grills have different depths. The gap grate is much thinner on the SmokeFire than it is on the Genesis grills.

      @@justgrillin Yes, I'm referring to the sear plus ELX 24 and the sear plus ELX 36. Also, Do you think the ELX 36 produces a cleaner smoke at lower temps since it's burning a hotter fire to maintain the temperature of a larger pit?

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому

      @@crowtoon size of the grill doesn’t really matter for the Crafted System. You’d still have space to grill at the same time with one of the Crafted Accessories on the ELX4. We just delivered that size to a client and I thought the sizing was fine. Similar scenario. He’s only cooking for two.
      I cooked on the EX4 for years until the new model and went to the bigger. I haven’t noticed a difference between one burning cleaner than the other. Flavor and smoke has been consistent taste from both sizes IMO.

    • @justgrillin
      @justgrillin  Рік тому +2

      You wouldn’t have the sear grate in at the same time as another Crafted accessory. The Frame Kit needs to stay in the grill and that will support the wok or dutch oven. Yes, it would be direct flame underneath.

      @@thoppy9508 It's pretty straight forward if you were standing in front of it. The Crafted Frame Kit has a hold in the center.
