You never know what you’re going to get from 70’s music; This album is a masterpiece and all teenagers from the 70’s had this album playing on our turntables, great group
This song is about breakup, well three breakups which took part in band. To much anger venom and sadness in this song, but also what a passion and energy lvl is beyond.
Rumors released in 1977 and over 40 million albums sold worldwide. All while there were several breakups going on in the band. This is a group of highly talented people individually, but exploded collectively with hit after hit. You simply must do this entire album. Many of the band members have continued making music for 50 years. But we lost Christine McVie recently. RIP. This band is indeed one of the most popular in US and many other countries!
Going down a very big rabbit hole with Fleetwood Mac. Enjoy their tracks. I'm from the UK and the end instrumental of this from the bass line was used in our TV highlights coverage of Formula 1 races in the 80's. Very fitting music to the sport!
Landslide, Dreams, Rhiannon, Gypsy, Sara, Gold Dust Woman, Everywhere, Go Your Own Way, You Make Loving Fun, Tusk, Never Going Back Again, Don't Stop, Silver Springs( live from The Dance), Say You Love Me, Over My Head are good songs too start with. They are a mix of American and British. Three different members sing lead. Stevie Nicks would be the most famous member. She is a rock goddess and has been known to enchant reactors with her voice and presence even with songs that care decades old.
When this album was released in 1977, people gasped at the production values of the album. It was top-tier state-of-the art production for that time. Utter clarity, superb mixing.
Hey guys thats not a banjo , its a dobro guitar. Lindsey Buckingham is a very unique guitar player. He uses a few alternate tunings and has a sort of unorthadox picking approach at times. Also , you've probably heard Fleetwood Mac before just didn't know it was them. Their music has been used in commercials & tv , not sure about movies.
Lot's of variety in Fleetwood Mac to check out! Particularly since three members take turns as lead vocalist and there was a completely different blues version of the band early in their career. Also, this album was made while everyone in the band was going through a break up...in most cases, with each other! The guitarist and one of the singers were breaking up and the bassist and Keyboardist were going through a divorce. They were all writing songs directed at each other! It's an emotionally charged album.
Fleetwood Mac are a British/American rock band formed in London in 1967. Their album "Rumours" (1977) has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. All the songs on it are great. "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun". "Second Hand News", "Gold Dust Woman" etc. Other songs from other albums are "Over My Head", "Say You Love Me", "Rhiannon", "Landslide", "Tusk", "Think About Me", "Sara", "Hold Me", "Love In Store", "Gypsy", "Oh Diane" etc. Sadly Christine McVie passed away last year.
Christine McVie, the keyboardist and one of the songwriters of FW, just recently passed away. "Rumours" is one of the top selling albums of all time. Recommend listening in its entirety.
The entire Rumours album is amazing…and their 1988 album Tango in the Night is excellent. Keep reacting to Fleetwood Mac. Thank god for the dysfunction in this band that gave us so much awesome music👍🏼
Great reaction guys! They were extremely popular back in the day and have a large selection of songs to choose from. Several band members had on and off again relationships and the emotions come though in their songs.
Back story on this band is crucial. Two couples (guitarist Lindsey Buckingham-singer Stevie Nicks, bassist John McVie-singer/keyboards Christine McVie) were breaking up when this record was made. Their best music a mix of anguished breakup songs (like this) and breezy/beautiful love songs. Personal and musical chemistry intertwined.
The second bass lead part was, as previously mentioned, the Formula 1 theme tune on BBC. It is probably known as the F1 music to most racing fans in the World outside the US.
One of THE best rock albums EVER made! Truly. No comparison! The fiery and explosive relationship between Stevie and Lindsey as an on and off again couple really resulted in some amazing songs based on their experience.
Can't imagine my 70 years without Fleetwood Mac!!! My favorites from them is "Silver Spring". This is a GREAT rabbit hole to travel through!!! Enjoy the journey!!🎵🎼🎶🥁🎤🎙🎸🎹🔥🤘💕💕
SO much to dive into with Fleetwood Mac. Especially on this Rumours album. But one of my favourites by FM is *Rhiannon.* Sung by the lovely Stevie Nicks (she did backing vocals on The Chain). Highly recommend their performance of Rhiannon they did on The Midnight Special. It features so much more than the studio version does (it’s like 2 minutes longer). One of the best live rock performances of all-time imo.
I love Stevie Nicks because she had this witchy backwoods midnight voodoo shack style to her song writing and even persona. This is a good representation of that.
It’s not a banjo. It’s Lindsay Buckingham playing his acoustic guitar. An interesting tthing to note is that he finger picks. He’s one of the best guitarists who ever lived. He and Stevie Nicks joined the band as a couple and broke up, but stayed in the band. This song is one of a series of back and forth songs between them in what is the longest running breakup in the history of the world. Listen to Go your own way, Big Love, Blue Letter. But start with their first big hit, Rhiannon. If you stick with it, this is a deep dive that will take a while and you won’t regret it. Much love ❤️
Great reaction !! Fleetwood Mac is a British/American rock group. The lead singer (Stevie Nicks) and the electric guitar player (Lindsey Buckingham) are both from the USA. The drummer and founding member(Mick Fleetwood) is from Great Britain. The bass player Jon McVie and the keyboard player/lead vocals Christine McVie ( RIP) are also from Britain. Please react to Fleetwood Mac - Dreams. This band is amazing. Cheers!!
Stevie Nicks is the best known member of the group. It's a song that sounds better when it's totally silent outside. I'd like to request some Styx, perhaps the song Lady.
❤ Beeing a fan of Fleetwood Mac since I was somewhere around 15 years old 1975, ❤ never seen them live, sorry to say(seen Stevie Nicks twice, 1982 at Peace Sunday at the Rose Bowl and at US festival 1983, that give me ❤ a lot of comfort...)
Formed by Peter Greene in 1967 as a Blues Band. Peter Greene was a fantastic Blues Guitarist and writer. He left in 71. The band’s founder members John McVie ( base guitar) and Mick Fleetwood ( drummer) have had various members in the band. Christine McVie ( maiden name Prefect) had been in and out of the group. She was songwriter and keyboards and joined the band permanently at the beginning of the 70’s. Married and divorced John McVie. Then around 1973 two Americans Lindsey Buckingham ( Lead Guitarist and vocals) and Stevie Nicks (Lead Vocals and unlimited talent for songwriting) joined the group. They produced a self titled album which was brilliant. However it was followed by the album Rumours, every track is an absolute platinum star. The on off real life relationship between Buckingham and Nicks is reflected in the songs and when they where at their worst that’s when Stevie wrote her best. With only Christine being the Peacemaker. Unfortunately Christine died a few months ago and Lindsey, one of the greatest Guitarists left the band.
I love you guys. I'm still shocked with the amount of the greatest acts in the world that you never heard of. I actually get a kick out of it. I know your young however it boggles my mind how little you were exposed to this acts. On the positive side you are in for a huge treat as you get to know them. Love your channel.
Unquestionably one of the greatest albums ever made. Incredible female vocalists and songwriters and then Lindsey Buckingham songwriting, singing and guitar plucking is epic. You should just pick a song a month and go with it. Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, You Make Loving Fun, Go Your Own Way
British/American band one of the greatest back when they played real music everyone had talent you had to back then no faking it used to drive around in our cars playing their music as loud as we could rock and roll was a beginning so you couldn't put it in a box, an experimental sound that was a combination of everything that came before then grew God bless
This album is regarded as one of the greatest perfect albums in rock music. There's just something about rumors., it just kills on every song but each in its own way. And by the way that's not a banjo but a mandolin, but yeah that definitely adds a tiny bit of a Bluegrass or hillbilly element to it, and both of those are also related to country music ultimately. But they were their own sound, to me it's just 70s rock but it's like the best of it. But seriously, you could wrecked every single song on this album and I don't know if you ever do albums but you could do this one song by song or sometimes people will put two of them together when they go through an album. But this is such an iconic and historic album. It's great to start at the beginning and just experience it all the way to the end, both sides of the record. I can't remember but I think this song might start off side B of the record. It's a fan-favorite but then every song on this album is a fan favorite.
Fleetwood started as a British band but in the early 70's 2 Americans joined them, Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. This song is about the personnel break up of Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. There is a live performance video (fleetwood mac channel on YT) where you can feel the tension in the performance.
I have a special relationship with this band and, especially, this album. I remember playing it full volume in the 70s on the cassette player in my fully packed car as I drove off to find my new life - best decision ever! "Go Your Own Way" is one of my favorites but the entire album is GREAT! Fleetwood Mac has a 50 year long, stormy history but, WOW, they created iconic music...their instrumentation and their lyrics are incredible. I still listen to their albums and I love seeing their LIVE performances on youtube...saw them only once in concert - FANTASTIC! Some brief history - Mac Fleetwood (English) was in the US, saw Lindsay Buckingham on guitar, and offered him a job with his band. According to Lindsay, he accepted with the proviso that his girlfriend at the time, Stevie Nicks, also be asked to join the band. (I'm not sure if Stevie would agree with Lindsay's recollection of these events.) Stevie - originally from Phoenix, AZ - was in a relationship with Lindsay and working with him as a duo - they had released an album together. After Mac conferred with Christine McVie - the other female vocalist in the band - and received her approval, Mac offered Stevie the job. Lindsay and Stevie joined he band and the rest is history! During their first tour, Stevie and Christine became the closest of friends and remained so right up to Christine's untimely passing in November, 2022. Christine was an amazing, talented musician on many instruments and wrote beautiful lyrics - listen to one of her songs, "Songbird" and you will see what I mean.
Formed in the 60s by drummer MICK FLEETWOOD, (Fleetwood Mick) the group went through several guitar changes, style, and personnel. In 1975, Mick heard a tape by Buckingham/Nicks and really liked the guitar. Linsey Buckingham happened to be there in the studio. Mick asked him to join the group, and Linsey said "as long as my girlfriend Stevie (Nicks, the queen of rock and roll). After discussions with Christine and John McVeigh (keys and bass) they gave it a try. One of rocks most talented and mystical bands.
The style you are looking for is "Desert Rock". Filled with traces of Spanish style guitar, Texas blues, flamenco, and mariachi. The Doors and the Eagles also did some "Desert Rock" songs, indicative of the southern California, Sound City sound. Tom Petty, and the Eagles also recorded there, all using a unique sounding Neve console in the booth.
The band had 3 lead singers at that point Ms Christine McVie vocals/keyboards, Mr Lindsey Buckingham vocals/guitar, Ms Stevie Nicks vocals/tambourine/twirling around and the 2 basic founding members Mick Fleetwood drums and John McVie bassist. Very blues oriented in the beginning with there original 3 guitars and vocalist but when Americans Stevie & Lindsay came on board they went super sonic.
Lindsey Buckingham, the band's guitarist, is one of the most famous fingerpickers in rock music. Which brings me to another band that you should check out: Dire Straits, fronted by guitar virtuoso Mark Knopfler (also a fingerpicker). Some suggestions would be "Sultans of Swing", "Telegraph Road", "Tunnel of Love", and "Brothers in Arms". Make sure you check out the full versions of these songs! Also, the first three got brilliant live renditions from the album "Alchemy: Dire Straits Live", and the band performed a moving version of the latter at a tribute concert for Nelson Mandela. They also scored other hits, though, such as "Money for Nothing" (the ground-breaking music video is worth checking out, and the song has a magnificent guitar riff) and "Walk of Life".
Fleetwood Mac was founded by guitarists and vocalists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer and drummer Mick Fleetwood. Bob Brunning was hired as a temporary bass guitarist before John McVie joined the line-up in time for their eponymous debut album. Danny Kirwan joined as a third guitarist and vocalist in 1968. Keyboardist and vocalist Christine Perfect, who contributed as a session musician starting with the band's second album, married McVie and joined Fleetwood Mac as a full member in 1970, becoming known as Christine McVie. Wikipedia. Fleetwood after Mick Fleetwood. Mac after John McVie.
Stevie and Lindsey trying to mend their ongoing relationship. I'm 70 now, back when I was 24 or so, Rumours came out. Every song is fantastic. Back then, it was the time of getting high on the beach, Disco, and never thinking that all this would be analyzed by future generations like a course in archaeology.
Only band in the world that writes and sings hate songd about each other...mostly Stevie and Lindsey. She makes him sing her breakup songs to him.. Pay attention to the lyrics
When the band was writing the song, there 3 couples going through breakups. The chain was the band Fleetwood Mac, they voweled to never let the personal problems break up the band.
Fleetwood Mac started as a British Blues band featuring guitarist Peter Green (check out the song Oh Well) and after Green left they went through lineup changes until Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined and they hit pay dirt and became one of the biggest bands in the world with that lineup.
In Great Britain this song, the base part anyway, is legendary amongst formula 1 fans as is was used by the BBC for years as its theme music for the Grand Prix.
Take a deep dive a great great band of super talented singers song writers. Much of their music came out of the struggles , loves betrayals that's were the emotion come from
The greatest soap opera ever written does not compare with the real life story and drama of Fleetwood Mac. Lying, cheating, betrayal, LOVE and then HATRED, the scandals are too numerous to list. There were 2 couples in Fleetwood Mac, and as those relationships were crashing they created this LEGENDARY album--"Rumours". It's all there in the song lyrics.
This is one of their best that song was between the two lead singers most of this album is about a group a lot of breaking up and cheating going on within the band members. But no matter what they all decided to stay together as a band. I think it would be great if you did reactions to this this album but live when they're on stage they gave a good stage performance😊
By the time Rumours was coming out, none of the band wanting anything to do with each other. They recorded a good portion of the album, as well as this song, in separate recording studios. In my opinion, The Chain is their love of music and the hard work they did to get them so far. It binds them together through all of their hardships and pain. Every member is credited for writing it. Wait till you see the live 1982 video. Stevie and Lindsey are glaring daggers at each other, probably hyped up on coke-
Just found your channel, I can't wait to suggest some music for you...I'm retired radio jock from the 70's-2011, Primarly in "classic rock" but there is so, so much to dive into...but Fleetwood Mac was considered rock back in the day, a little softer, but there wasn't a teenager alive at that time that didn't have this album, I had it on 8-track, cassette, and album. Rock ON!!
The live album called the dance is such a great live performance Silver Springs, such an amazing song to check out, live on that the dance, or the bonus version of that
The live version of Silver Springs from The Dance is, in my opinion, the best song recorded for the album but it was left off of it. It is phenomenal, as are your reactions!
Originally started by Peter Green. Great British Blues Guitarist. To date this album has sold over 40 million copies. From the base bit was used for years by the BBC as the theme for their Formula 1 coverage.
It was a whole different mindset then. FM was...and still is...an iconic band. Their music had the best vibe. This kind of music was extremely popular. Everybody listened to this group. A group tightly wound with their relationships. They would have break ups, but were determined yo keep the band together. The music was not sacrificed. Infact it gave great creative inspiration. Thanks for your reaction. Its obvious the difference in perspective between living now and then.
This is a tough song to be introduced to Fleetwood Mac. This song is very much about the ending of relationships. Imagine singing about your breakup with the person your leaving is standing right next to you. Live versions you can see the anger as they sing the lyrics.
If you haven’t already noticed, a huge percentage of the best rock bands from the 60’s-80’s were British. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones began the “British Invasion” in 1963 or so, followed by literally dozens of top-tier, world-class bands which you will discover. Dozens. Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Queen, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Genesis, Yes, Dire Straits, Humble Pie, The Moody Blues, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Traffic…..and dozens more. Damn, you guys have so much wonderful music to discover…..I hope you keep at it. You’ve got years worth of material ahead of you.
You never know what you’re going to get from 70’s music; This album is a masterpiece and all teenagers from the 70’s had this album playing on our turntables, great group
The thing that amazes me is that they managed to complete the album without chopping eachother to pieces or od 😂
Yes we did ! 😊
And most the adults as well.
Nobody will complain if you do the live version of this. The emotion adds a whole other layer to this song.
Agree 100%. The raw emotion, when they're staring daggers at each other across the stage, really brings out the meaning of the lyrics.
RIP Christine McVie (12 July 43 - 30 November 22), keyboardist & vocalist. Her song "Songbird" was played a lot in tribute at her passing.
And that's an absolutely wonderful song --- Should be on your list to react to guys!!!
Not to mention Everywhere! It just makes my heart burst no matter where in the world or life I am. and love her lead vocals ❤
Songbird is the one song that rivals The Chain for Best song on Rumours.

"FM" sound is also a term used for this.
One of the best albums ever produced.
this is the only song in the bands time together that credits all 5 members as song writters.
Just classic rock. Just like Bob seger. My favorite song of theirs. Stevie used to b a witch. Back I'm the day.
I totally agree.!!
Stevie Nicks is one of the most recognized voices in Rock
That bass is so dirty.
It's freakin amazing. Love that part
Saw them live in Australia, amazing concert.
Only band in the world that writes and sings hate songd about each other...mostly Stevie and Lindsey. She makes him sing her breakup songs to him..
Pay attention to the lyrics
And she sings the break up songs he wrote about her.
We recently found out ABBA did that too! 😂
New subscriber!👍
One of the most popular bands of the 70's and 80's.
Thx for coming along with us!
Great reaction glad you enjoyed the chain and the songs bass ending is most notable for being the theme for Formula 1 radio coverage for many years
When the band was writing the song, there 3 couples going through breakups.
"Little Lies", "Everywhere", "Dreams", "You Make Loving Fun", "Rhiannon", "Go Your Own Way", "Don't Stop", "Hold Me", "Gold Dust Woman", "Second Hand News" - all worth checking out.
happy to say i have this on vinyl and listen to it quite often.
In Great Britain this song, the base part anyway, is legendary amongst formula 1 fans as is was used by the BBC for years as its theme music for the Grand Prix.
Take a deep dive a great great band of super talented singers song writers. Much of their music came out of the struggles , loves betrayals that's were the emotion come from
Grew up with Fleetwood Mac...thanks Ma and Pops!
I was listening to Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green and the new members. Great group
Always been one of my favorites! ❤
We wore this album out when it came out. Not a bad song on it!
Huge catalog for you to dive into!
This song always reminds of Formula 1 Racing. Was the intro during the 80's, to us Brits. All about Stevie & Lindsey's relationship, the song
Stevie and Lindsey are glaring daggers at each other, probably hyped up on coke-
This album is a sheer MASTERPIECE. Not a bad song on it.
Rock ON!!
Had a old west sound to it.
My sister liked Fleetwood mac growing up
Real musicians!
There is so much left for you to dig into. They were huge back in the 70's.
Fleetwood Mac DEFINED the 1970's and early 80's.
This is a tough song to be introduced to Fleetwood Mac. This song is very much about the ending of relationships. Imagine singing about your breakup with the person your leaving is standing right next to you. Live versions you can see the anger as they sing the lyrics.
you got to play them LIVE....play TUSK with matching band....live from london
That wasn't a banjo, it was an electric guitar. Lindsey Buckingham has an unorthodox style involving a lot of finger picking.
