  • | San Marino Travel Guide: The Repubblica di San Marino: Did you know that Europe's third smallest country is in Italy?
Located one hour from Bologna in Emilia Romagna, Italy and accessible through train and bus. The country has a medieval vibe with a unique characteristic which makes it feel like a country out of the Princess Diaries. First, you can get a you passport stamped as San Marino has their own visa. Also, I arrived on San Marino's Presidential inauguration day. San Marino has two presidents which change every six months.
In this Republic of San Marino Travel Guide, I share things to know and best things to do in San Marino, which are also top reasons to visit San Marino.

I had no idea San Marino was a country by itself! And the presidents changing every six months?! Wow! The two president system sounds interesting. It made me wonder if that could ever work in the U.S. Having two presidents-each from a different political party. Great video!

I know ~ and to think they've had over 20 female presidents for years! All of that would change our history so much. Albeit they are peace-loving and small. With more people it might be harder to unify, but you never know.

They have also the prerogatives of both the Speaker of the Chamber and the President of Senate (its a monocameral system) and the Secretary of State.
Not mentioning they usually share the government coalition

@@grrrltraveler You keep saying 'president', the position is known as Captain Regent and they are the dual heads of state, so a ceremonial roleelected directly by the grand and general council (parliament), this legislative body also promotes or elects members of itself to serve on the Congress of State which is like an executive level cabinet within which the executive power of the government actually lies, and in many ways the Secretary for Foreign (and formerly, "and Political" ) Affairs is invested more often than not with the chief executive action among them, making this person more or less something equivalent to being the prime minister in other nations, whom is today as it was when this video was uploaded still the same man, Luca Beccari of the PDCS (Partito Democratico Cristiano Sammarinese - centrist).
At the time you uploaded this I would imagine the investiture was of Alessandro Mancini of the PDS (Partito dei Socialisti e dei Democratici - center-left) and Grazia Zafferani of the RETE movement (Movimento Civico Rinnovamento - Equita - Transparenza - Ecosostenibilita - leftist), who were relieving Alessandro Cardelli of the PDCS and Mirko Dolcini of Domani -- Motus Liberi (Tomorrow, free movement - centrist). Today the Captain Regents are Alessandro Scarano of the PDCS and Adele Tonnini of the RETE Movement
