      4 Hertz reads off if the idem is close to the surface because it reads better in deep ground idems .Picture a cone so at the top of the cone its broad but down deeper it narrows to a piont . Does this help ? Use this deep 4 hertz in OLD SITES only or in the woods. 👍

    Hi Larry, I upgraded to the 3.0 and noticed same problems as you. Incorrect depth, pinpointing 3-5” off and 4kz had higher vid numbers. I went back to version 2.2.12 as well. Thanks for your video. You have a very good channel. Thanks Mike

    I just got a Nox 800. I took it out yesterday for the first time. I was on an old school property around the old football field that isn't used anymore. I decided to use the 4 khz to look for silver coins since that is what it was intended for. I didn't find silver, but I do recall getting a jumpy high tone on a signal and then changing to multi and it locked in on 12-13. I dug it and it was a nickel. I'm new to the machine, but I thought that was odd. I'm still playing with it. Thanks for the videos. I'm learning from you as well.

    I thought the 4kHz was mainly for higher conductors such as silver coins. Multi-frequency will pick up low and high conductor targets well. I think the 4kHz is separate from multi-frequency. I use field 1 and switch from multi to 4kHz when I hear a faint high deep tone to get a better accurate tone/ reading. Sometimes, if I'm at a hard hunted site, I'll leave it on 4kHz to catch any deep silver coins on edge that would otherwise be missed in multi-frequency. If I'm wrong, let me know.

      Luis I really couldn't say at this point. I would be interested to hear more on your experience with the 4 khz on the silver. Thank you for watching.

    • @ZSmittyman
      @ZSmittyman 3 роки тому

      Luis is right the lower frequency of 4 kHz hits high conductors like silver better but doesn't hit the lower conductors like nickel and gold as well.

    • @luisvillarreal5262
      @luisvillarreal5262 3 роки тому +3

      @@ZSmittyman Imo, I think the 4kHz frequency would be most beneficial at heavily hunted sites that have produced lots of silver coins. At these kind of sites, it would be safe to assume, (I know, you shouldn't always assume) that most of the trash has been dug, if it has produced silvers and relics really well. My buddy and I have hunted a local park to death and there is hardly any trash, but it's still sparsely producing good targets. This is where I use the 4kHz to get the deep goodies. Use it at a park and prepare to get plenty of trash. The secret there would be to go for the deep high tones, not the shallow. But you never know, it just might be a shallow silver ring too.

    Great video and discovery of how the update runs in 4. Saves me a lot of testing thanks. I mostly am Gulf beach hunting near St. Pete Florida so I don’t plan to use 4 but good to learn what you’re finding about the setting.
    Multi seems to be best here in Beach 2.

A few days later I got a call back saying that my update was corrupted and to try again. I can see a small difference but not much of one . I am mostly happy hunting in Park 1,with sensitivity set as high as it goes.When I use the new 4 frequency,it seems a bit squeaky and has different tones that I will have to get used to.I cannot tell if I am finding more targets , because there are not real “control”like a test bed out in the field.What I am doing now is to find a target switch to 4MHZ to check the difference.Than I leave in 4MHZ till I find a target,than switch to multi,etc.This is slow,but hoping for a pattern.

    I've updated my NOX 800 from 2.1 to 3.1, then went to the beach and find it so chirping and some time touch target disconnecting issue! So, I've rested it up to the FP, but it never gets solved! I got back home, downgrade it to 2.1 again, then got back to the beach, and then got surprised about the result!! 3.1 absolutely was a dump for me! I never updated it again until a new firmware comes into the market. Thank you for your video.

    I'm pretty certain I read somewhere in a book or the manual that the depth indicator in pinpoint mode is not accurate and shouldn't be relied upon. It should be accurate in detect mode unless things are wonky. I do see that on the first target of the video in detect mode in 4khz it indicates 2" or less. Hope that helps, I'd hate for you to nick something good with a tool because that indicator in pinpoint is off! Happy detecting!

I think I might be missing some coins I would normally find. By the way I’m from the Uk and mainly do beaches. I will carry on but might revert back to V2 if things don’t improve. Great videos. Before I got my NOX 800 I was using a Fisher Gold Bug Pro that ran 4kz. It was great on brass buttons and buckles and silver coins and civil war bullets down to about 8 inches.
    In switched to the NOX 800 for the extra depth but it didn’t have 4kz. Looking forward to downloading the 3.0 update and go back over productive areas to see what I might have missed. Love the NOX 800.

    Minelab says the 4kHz is for deep objects like those found in Asia. Also, they state readings will be different from other freqs. So why are you and others using the new lower freq for coin hunting?

    • @keithflesser1533
      @keithflesser1533 4 роки тому +2

      I agree, like any detector with adjustable frequency's the lower ones are more effective with deep higher conductors. Multi Frequency will give a more steady VDI for targets due to the algorithms programed into the software. Use the optional frequency's to suit the various hunting conditions.

    Hey Sod Buster
    Great video
    I haven’t updated my 800 yet
    I was wandering when you were hunting in the 4 kHz and you had a signal
    What kind of a signal you would get if you stepped to the side of the target and ran the 800 over target in the other direction
    I think we might be surprised

    Wasnt this not ment to be? I readed a statement of ML that the new 4 khz mode was for a certain type of hunting, i thought it was Asia and war stuff... But they also stated that the new 4khz operates much different compared to the other frequency's and due to that you had to get the feel with it.

      Here is the verbiage from the v3 update document.
      A new Single Frequency of 4 kHz has been
      added to the existing 5, 10, 15, 20 and
      40 kHz options. This new 4 kHz frequency
      enhances the detection of large deep
      targets, particularly those found in parts
      of Asia. As a result of optimising for
      these conditions, this new frequency may
      respond differently for users compared
      to the other single frequencies.
      All other single and multi-frequency
      settings are unchanged in
      their performance.
      In addition to the 4 kHz upgrade feature,
      various stability enhancements have
      been included.

    I knew it was a bottle cap before you Doug it. If the I.D suddenly from about 16 in multi to about 34 in 4 KHz it most likely a bottle cap. Just to double check go into all metal and slowly back off from the target and if it gives an iron grunt then it’s definitely a bottle cap.

I dont understand why all these you tubers are trying so hard to figure this out. Using the program like that will grab all the easy silver that all the old machine rejected or could not detect...... @@kansasrelicsandrecovery I tell you what, I live in the United States. So it was not an improvement for me. I dont have any Chinese silver hoards
      buried in the ground in upstate New York. In my opinion Multi Frequency is still king. I have heard of others that are
      just using the 4 Khz as a cross reference to multi frequency targets, but it really has not improved my detecting one bit.
      4 KHZ HAS NOT PULLED 1 COIN OUT OF ANY AREA I HAVE ALREADY POUNDED WITH MULTI FREQUENCY BEFORE AND AFTER THE UPDATE.
      So I really dont understand this MASSIVE PHENOMENA of people claiming that they are finding all these silver coins in places that
      they have hunted before when it has been absolutely untrue for me and im digging in a 220 year old neighborhood with a

      any deep can slaw that i was too lazy to dig. I truly doubt the majority of these people are using their machines properly
      and they may even be getting lucky by digging up trash and unmasking targets, but this update is not doing anything for people that have

    No disrespect but don’t think you are using the 4khz in the way it’s intended and to keep comparing it to the multi frequency is wrong. Very low frequencies are meant for deeper large objects and preferably with a large coil, as it penetrates deeper. Not meant for small shallow objects

    I really like your videos, expertise and advices you give. However, this field test video wasn't one of your best. Not in terms of the video quality, but rather in terms of content value. I personally did not derive many useful conclusions from it. The only one clear thing was that the 4khz is useless on nickels, it appears. I wonder if, instead of a nickel, it was a gold ring that would normally come in at 12-13, how the 4khz would react to it. Or how the next comparable frequency, 5 khz (before the update) would react to nickels. Also, there was zero comparison to the way your machine performed before you did the update, in the same park, on similar targets, with all other settings identical. I'd like to see a comprehensive garden test video before and after the update, using the same targets, depth, ground moisture and machine settings, the only variable being all frequencies performance before and after the update.
    Thank you for your, otherwise impressive, contribution to the metal detecting community.
    FYI, I updated my 800 to 3.0 a couple of months back and me too I'm not very happy at the moment with it and I'm contemplating on reverting back to 2.0. But I feel that I need more information before doing that. I keep looking for more in depth testing videos on this specific topic and I don't seem to find anything significant. I'm planning on running my own garden test this spring. If anyone happened to have seen one, please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

    Nothing to see here. Freq reacts to different conductivity of different metals, and thats why you get different numbers. 4Khz is great for high conductivity metals like silvers and the lower freq goes deeper then higher freqs. thats why the Nox shits all over most single freq detectors.
