I bleached my hair and had extensions for 13 years my hair was destroyed and I had alopecia, I went back to my natural colour which is black and stopped getting extensions. My hair is now to my waist and so healthy took about 3 years 💖

Saff! I also have underactive thyroid and hair loss. I’ve been working in the nhs throughout the covid pandemic so with me putting my hair up continuously, not using heat protect etc has really made my hair suffer. I also felt so ashamed and uncomfortable within myself when I first found out, however you will get through this!! I’m on medication now and my confidence is slowly but surely coming back thank goodness. Sending you lots of love ❤️❤️

I had traction alopecia when I got box braids for the first time. I have 3B texture hair so I thought my hair will be fine with handling the braids, but I was wrong. I got tiny sore spots all over my scalp and lost hair in a small section. It has been 4 years since and my hair did grow back just fine like 2 years without treatment. I hope you are feeling ok, believe me when I tell you this is VERY common it's just that many women do not talk about it. Thank you for using your platform x

@@kelseybray654 Getting the correct balance of T3/T4 and TSH levels is a must which can be a tricky thing, also looking at your minerals/vitamins intake - checking things like the absorption or iron/vitamin D and specifically your B vitamins - I take a high dose of Biotin and use regain with my hypothyroidism to help my hair stay thick and reduce alopecia from occurring after previous incidents of it happening in the past and that always/has helped. :)

I’m so glad you posted this. I have been having problems with my hair for about 2 years now. I lost a patch of hair close to the back of my neck and I was completely distraught, I was so scared and had no idea why. It eventually started growing back which was a great sign and when I brush my hair each day I notice it getting longer and longer, it’s finally starting to catch up with my normal long hair! I saw a dermatologist and they couldn’t give me a clear answer, they said it could be genetics or stress so it wasn’t reassuring that they didn’t know. Since then it has happened once more but at a much smaller scale and I’ve just had skin irritation, redness and a few pimples in my hair from time to time. I have never even heard of traction alopecia before so it’s really interesting to know more about that as that is what it could have been.
I was at an all time low when the first time happened, it’s absolutely devastating but everything always ends up being better than what you think!
I currently use a steroid shampoo once a week and medicated oil for when it feels red and a little sore.
    Xx

I have Alopecia Areata where I had symptoms due to stress and anxiety at the age of 9 I was diagnosed with alopecia at the age of 10 which over the years got worse. At the age of 13 I was told that I needed to shave my hair because of how thin and unhealthy it was. To this day I still struggle with my hair and I’m nearly 18. What I have discovered in the last 8 years is that cut your hair shorter maybe not to short but enough to lighten your head. So for any of you out there who is struggling with alopecia it isn’t the worse thing in the world. I wore wigs for some time and now I only lose my hair when I’m in super stressful situations and when my mental health is at the worse.

Had alopecia on/off due to specific auto-immune conditions I've had from around 7/8 years; I recommend having a blood test to look at perhaps your vitamin/mineral intake to make sure it's not Alopecia Areata /as well - seeming a simple blood test could help you figure that out more than anything (besides the under active thyroid)? Although given how you've dyed/styled your hair over the years, used extensions etc. it's likely more leaning towards traction alopecia due to the way the follicles have broken/snapped off because of the strain/stress placed on them - if you immediately stop colouring your hair (or reduce the amount of time between so when you do dye it/opt for non-ammonia products), wear your hair down more/lose, don't put heat on it, wash it less often - I use regaine during flares as that's really good for any sorts of alopecia/hair thinning), regularly trim the ends of your hair, use the correct brush to brush your hair with - and brush it from the ends to roots and not doing so when it's wet either, that should reduce hair thinning/promote hair growth and prevent this from happening again; another thing that was also a life saver for me and always has been, is taking biotin supplements.

I got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2016 after a year of blood tests trying to figure out what was wrong with me.
I had ALL the symptoms too.
The hair loss, cold hands & feet, emotions (and random crying), dry skin patches, the weight issues, and THE EXHAUSTION..
I’ve been on medication since then and wow it sure has changed my life, but I still definitely feel my symptoms strongly some weeks, and others not.
Sucks so bad as this is just how life will be now. But I’ve come to terms with it.. ❤️

I have an under active thyroid and the tablets from the doctor practically saved me! I would come home from school and just go straight to bed! I could never even watch a film at night in the dark without falling asleep! I'm excited for you to have a new lease of life

Also have you thought of having BIAB, builders gel on your nails rather than acrylics?? Your natural nails will grow with it and keep strength without the damage that acrylics can do.

I know how you feel I got told by my hairdresser in March a month before my wedding I have a bald spot on my crown size of an egg. I was so worried so I went and bought hair loss and strengthening shampoo and a month later it had started to cover over I am 5 months since finding out and it's grown 4inches so pleased. And mine was caused by wearing a bun on my head. Xxx

I never usually comment on videos but about 5 years ago my hair thinned out and I kept getting it cut to thicken up and now it’s long and back to being as thick as it was when I was younger! So sorry this has happened to you but it will grow back and don’t let it knock your confidence it’ll be okay 💜

So good to see you speak about this nothing to feel insecure about. My hair is getting better than it was but it’s not as thick as it used to be a few years ago I started suffering with my hair getting thinner I went to doctors and I got sent for a biopsy on my head it come back nothing serious but he said Do you stress about things and it turned out I had telogen effluvium. I try to look at it this way nothing wrong if people see your hair like this it can’t be helped my hair is getting better but not the same as it used to be x

You are beautiful you would still be beautiful bald. You are so brave for sharing this, I pray for healing for you and glad you have answers I too have interactive thyroid I also have pcos
Which also causes hairless, I have found that for me pig thyroid helps much better than levothyroxin probably because it's all natural

I have Alopecia due to stress and whenever I get very stressed out I lose my hair. It happened to me the first time and I lost a massive chunk right on top of my head. I would highly recommend taking Biotin and using the whole Olaplex range to help with the hair growth. Xx

I lost a lot of hair with bleach and hair extensions. I stripped it right back to my natural hair, no extensions and used lots of olaplex products and Lee Stafford hair grow leave in conditioner and my hair is now so full,so soft and so long

I know it’s not the same but I’ve had trichotillomania since 2020 and so I’m definitely familiar with hair loss and i know how hard it is and how self conscious it can make you. To saffron and anyone else who suffers any time of hair loss, you can be beautiful with or without hair and it will all get better soon :)
