- With all the wet weather I've not had a lot of opportunities for videos. To be honest I haven't had much going on that I thought would make a good video. I've just been getting equipment together and things built in preparation for spring.
I don't know about you guys, but this last part of winter seems to drag on and fly by at the same time. I can hardly wait for spring, but still so much to do 😄
Hello Hello Mr. Gus here in central NC we are having lots of rain this season also . Like now it is pouring an calling for just under two inches of more rain. Glad to see you still have your head above water. I enjoy your videos one thing is to just see what is going on around me . I know with weather like this it is hard because everyone would love to be in the bee yard but that doesn’t happen with rain, ice, snow . So when able we will see them then . THANKS
Don't apologize for making videos. You have a lot of followers who appreciate the updates. I even watch Brad Hogg work on his trucks! I like the t post topper. I'm looking for a simpler way to attach Swarm traps to t posts.
I hope we all right about an early spring , but just when you think you got it figured out , mother nature throws that dang curve ball. God bless Gus good luck this year!
Here in Southern Ohio we are easily two weeks early. I worry about a late freeze effecting the spring nectar flow. Can't fight mother nature, just work with her.
The calm before the storm!
We're figuring the same here. 2 to 3 weeks ahead. My nests are mostly small, which I like this time of year, so that's going to help me with the early season. Thanks for the update. Looking forward to seeing the season ahead up there...
good job guys, thanks for the update! keep it up
Good stuff man! It's about to be game on!
love the t post bases
Greetings, Gus from Savannah, TN. The ice was rough on me too. Lots of pine and cedar tree limbs down.
I really think the Tee Post brackets are really interesting. I’m thinking the height above the ground helps the queen to get back. I think Savannah is always a week or two behind you weather wise so I try to keep up with you to plan my bee work. 👍
Thanks, Gus. I just bought about fifty medium boxes used, too. I'm usual not a big fan of buying used, but wood is so expensive these days. This was a local beekeeper I know who just had a baby and was downsizing. I was a good deal for both of us.
We are running about 3-4 weeks early here I. north Florida!! It will be hear sooner than you think! Good to hear from you!!
Thanks for the update Gus!!!
i added fondant and building cut comb frames, its coming fast
Looking good! Did you get your Cypress boxes from Skipper or did you make those yourself? They look really nice! Thanks for sharing!
Those were from year before last, came from zook.
Glad to see you are doing well! The season here on the east coast of Virginia is about two to three weeks early. Found swarm cells in one of my hives on Friday. Question, are you on a 14,21 or 28 day cycle on your queen mating nucs?
21
Looks like you've been busy Gus, still amazed at the way you store suppers outside...... mine would probably fall apart in one season!
The frames and comb will darken from water stains but overall it’s not too bad.
I would rather have a dedicated container for them but I’m still in the “make do” stage for a lot of things 😂
Looks nice out there now !
Great looking mediums. Where did you get the cypress medium boxes?
Albert zook, a while back
Nice hat!
and we want video's on all that stuff just build them for no reason we will come thanks
When you dato your boxes does it not cut all the way thru at the handle and if so how do you remedy that. Thanks so much for the videos.
Yes it does the way that I cut them.
For me it’s not an issue because the divider blocks it when there are 2 colonies, and if I pull the divider there’s only 1 so it doesn’t hurt anything.
Do you wax dip your bottoms or anything for the weather? Did you make those bottoms yourself? Thanks for the update
I’m not set up to wax dip. I just use paint. Yep, I built those bottoms for my mating nucs.
When you're managing used equipment how often do you repaint?
If the paint is bad or is the wrong color for me then I paint. I don’t like anything but shades of yellows whites and blues
How and what are the T post toppers used for?
I have a few videos on them. This is the first one.
