Changed our 2014 Chevy Cruz water outlet this morning, your video was spot on and made this job very easy. Thanks for sharing. I don't own a test machine as ours was checked at local auto parts for error code. Is there a way to reset the codes without the test machine or will it clear on it's own?
Jon Beck disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, it should reset the ECM's memory and I'm glad to hear that I was able to help through this video!
Very detailed, very professional. What is that scan tool (scanner) you have please?
Sun Yatsen Joa Thank you! I used the snap on zeus scanner in this video!
Hi! Great work. Very detailed thanks for sharing. I was wondering where did you purchase the replacement thermostat housing from?
MsNik My Pleasure! I ordrered it on Ebay
K Diagnostics, I recently changed out the housing on a 2013 1.8 and have a slow drip from the temp sensor. What is the correct position for the sensor and pin? If I install a rubber washer, would it interfere with the sensor reading?
James Markel you should replace the sensor oring/ gasket and your leak will be fixed!!
Same thing I went through with my 2013 vehicle. The codes I have P00B6 & P0118
Grace Landing Sounds Good!
Would really like to know what tools this job would take and how to undue the different types of wire connections !! Thanks

Hello, thanks for the video, but I don’t see that temperature gauge will be showing normal working temperature, just cold till the end of video, how can it be? Or I don’t understand something.
tommego1 I didn't let the engine reach operating temperature after I replaced the thermostat, I already knew that it was fixed!!!
Did you use an adhesive when you were installing the new thermostat housing, if so what did you use?
Tri No. I didn't!
Good video. Only suggestion.. After the repair was complete you cleared the codes .. I only wish you would have went back in to live data and showed us the difference when running correctly.. also I don't recall seeing bolt size for the four main bolts holding the thermostat. They look like they had a weird head .. I do like your video though thanks

There are different thermostat assembly in market what kind will you recommend for chevy Cruze 2014 1.8L?
Ahmad Hasnain I will recommend an original one from the Chevy dealer if you can get one,
My mechanic changed this twice with a housing that is all aluminum made in Asia. It works for a month or so & then it leaks again, same spot as b4 with the original GM housing. I noticed the original one is made of plastic. I read that the aluminum one will last longer, so we went with it. My original GM plastic housing leaked & eventually cracked. I would think that if the part was defective it may happen once, but not twice. He charged me $310 for the work & it still leaks. Could it be leaking from another part near the housing & seem like it is leaking from the housing itself. Any suggestion?
Antonio Ficca the new part could be defective or the surface between the cylinder head and the thermostat housing could be warped which can also cause a leak!!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair That would me that he installed two defective ones. The surface problem could be possible, but he didn't mention it 2 me. Thanks 4 your response.

Be careful when you loosen your coolant hoses. Coolant can help accelerate deterioration of plastic/wiring over time leading to more problems if not cleaned up properly. Drain the coolant from the radiator, pinch off or use plugs for the hoses to keep the coolant from pouring out onto your engine/other components. You'll fix one thing but will cause further problems down the road for yourself. Take your time and do it right so you don't have to spend more time/effort, AND money on more repairs/parts. Take care folks!
@EddieLeal Good!
I just have a question about the tube pipe at the bottom of the actual thermostat housing. I saw you pot back the two bolts holding it to the housing but I didn't see you use some kind of sealer. Is that OK?
Luis Carrillo the tube has a gasket on the thermostat housing! so no sealer needed!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair thanks for the reply.. I just can't believe my local chevy dealer wanted to charge me $1760.00 for doing this job. Thanks to your video I saved a big part of this amount.
@@luiscarrillo2233 My Pleasure!! I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful!!
Does the tube that connects to the housing on the bottom need replacing mine is leaking at connection under manifold? Or does it just need new Orings? ty great video
@philipbartee5674 you don't have to replace it, you can just replace the gaskets!
Is it leaking behind manifold? It's a gasket. Unless crack in it or something. Go ahead and get oil cooler gasket kit. And be prepared for the work 😞 just did mine. Fixed a leak found another and so on.
Thanku I have the same car and same problem
Tab Ormiston My Pleasure!!
How's the shifter cable come off I didn't see that part does it pry and pop off
@ErickRodriguez-pb4mv it pop out!
Hi, what was wrong with the thermostat housing (not the thermostat) ? because the thermostat housing only has flow ducts?
or the problem was only the thermostat?
Cesar Gamboa The problem was a defective Thermostat!!
What kind of tool did you use to take the diverter off ?
Louis bowes a wrench!
Do i need to replace the whole housing or i can just do with the thermostat?
linc02 it's better to replace the whole housing!!
Are those thermostat housing bolts size E10?
Eddie Inzauto I don't remember the size!
What scanner are you using and you missed to show the thermostat working
abel salgado I'm using the Snapon Zeus, Yeah I forgot to show the Data Pid of the ECT after replacing the thermostat!! but the vehicle was fixed
i just replaced the housing on my 2014 chevy cruze ls but temp gauge still stays on cold and still shows "AC off due to high temp"
Johnny Mota check the second temp sensor!!
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair which one is that one?
Isn’t that the water outlet not the thermostat? I thought thermostat was located on passenger side of engine with the hose that goes to radiator
Ricardo S That's the thermostat housing!
What’s the name of the tube you removed minds broke at the 90
Mr Dickem the hood mechanic it's a heater tube!
Were you able to easily replace it? I replaced my thermostat housing the other day and the plastic on that tube broke.
What part is that called at 24:29
@kennard9246 Thermostat housing!
Throttle body heater hose!
I have code p0597
@yourdadlovesyou4443 check your thermostat!
