    Amps clamp on injector wiring attached to oscilloscope. Start the engine (ECU normally cuts voltage supply as soon as it "sees" a fault) but you usually get a good few firing events. Its quicker and easier and catches the intermittent faults which is usually the case with that particular injector.

    So don't you need to do a Uf capacitence check also to confirm its good or failed?

    When checking the insulation are you checking each pin on the injector individually or both pins at the same time?

      Each pin individually to the body then both together

    Hi Steve, it is ok using 250v? Can you do the same body insulation without removing them?

      yes its ok to do insulation test when fitted. These injectors weren't ever going to be fitted again, so if you are testing injectors in the car I advise 100-125v . Ive known higher voltages to turn a nearly failed injector into a failed injector !!

    Hi,
    I’m wondering if you’d be able to help me please... I’ve developed a fault on my VW Caddy (CAYD 1.6tdi) which has the Siemens VDO Piezo injectors (part number - 03L130 277B) - I’ve got a megger multifunctional tester which has an insulation resistance test at 250v/500v/1000v (it’s more know for testing domestic wiring) would you be able to advise if this tester would be able to perform the same test as you have? Most other videos I’ve seen seem to test at 100v which my tester doesn’t have! Also do you know if this test is safe to do with the injector still in place (but with the vehicle harness obvious disconnected) I’d really appreciate any advice as I’d like to fully diagnose/know if the injector is in-fact faulty before replacing it.

      testing the stack to body for shorts at 250v is ok, but I would'nt personally advise testing across the stack at 250v (i have done, but i've been advised not to). Trsting in the engine is fine if disconnected electrically.

      misfires, cut out non start, injector circuit malfunction codes, specific injector codes.

    Is this test only viable on piezo injectors?can you do this test on a standard coil solenoid diesel injector ?

      The resistance values are much lower on solenoid injectors so i dont feel this test is viable as it may well damage them
