    Many thanks for this info . . .Finally sorted a 'P2149' issue with the Vivaro that it would cut out after a couple of seconds. . . Disconnected the injector 4 connector and the car started and ran on 3 cylinders . . Eureka!! Then tested the 'new' injector connections. . only 15kohms and connection to earth . .!! . . bad injector!! . . .Great info.

    A good idea is to have one test lead with a croc clip , that will allow one hand free , or stick in in vice

    Excellent bit of info. Any chance you have a video of a complete over haul of a 2006 Vivaro 1.9 fuel diesel tank clean, fuel line cleaning, priming the fuel system after that and bleeding all air out? :)

    Nice clear video thank you, my problem is if I have been a run say a any where above a mile when I switch the engine off after the run there is a screeching noise which goes on and off for about a minute , if its only less than a mile there is no noise, the car is running fine, have you any idea?

    Thank you very much! I"ll test my injectors asap this way. My issue is, the engine suddenly starts knocking out of nowhere while accelerating, but only few times, not always, actually pretty rare, but I can hear the fuel is not burning well. But when I stop the car the issue is gone. I hope this test will bring me closer to the reason.

      My uncle had the same symptoms in the car and one of the injectors were bad. Idle was ok and when accelerating, knocking could be heard. Like I said, only one was faulty but he ended repearing all 4 of them and now everything works fine. He tried also some fuel additives before reparation but those didn't help.

      @@darkocalusic3985 Hm, that sounds good, thanks for the infos! I already sent my injetcors to measure the flow, they said they are fine...I'll not use any additives thats for sure ;) What car has your uncle? Mine is a Hyundai I30 1.6 crdi.

      @@greg1158 he's got skoda 1.6 TDI 2011. But, I'm begining to notice rough idle when the engine is cold in my passat b7 1.6 tdi 2011. I think it's due to siemens injectors..

      @@darkocalusic3985 uhh :/ its not good. Maybe just the EGR valve is full with carbon. At least I have no idle issues, yet...

      @@greg1158 I've checked it with VCDS and indeed, there is significant ammount of injector fuel deviation when the engine is cold.. when it gets warmer, everything is fine. So, I think it's up to faulty electronic in injectors. I have an appoitment for checking it at Thursday and we'll see how it goes :)

    Hi . Thanks for video. Golf mk6 1.6 tdi CAYC. Hunting idle issue. All injectors showing 200k ohms between pins. No codes in ECU. Is it possible for injector to be on its way out and not flag fault code? Cheers

      Check the back leakage of injectors by removing the return pipes. One or more injectors will have more back leakage than others.

      Thanks for the response. I am having challenge with testing the resistance reading after watching this video repeatedly. My readings as always been 0.00😢. What am I not getting right please? (1) What does a zero resistance value mean, 2) what is the acceptable resistance value for a good diesel injection and 3) what is the right ohms position to set on my multimeter? Thank you

    Thank you for this video, just have a question, bosch injectors off a 2001 sprinter 2.2 , doing your test i dont get that resistance on any, i Get 00.0 when meters on 200kohms and 00.4 when meters on 200 ohms. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you

    Hello, are the wires of injectors coming from ECU to injectors positive or positive and negative electrodes? It has nothing to do with the negative (ground) motor pole. I have a Hino with a J07E 5-cylinder engine, I think the type of injector is from Denso, the engine does not work because the injectors do not secrete diesel (electric problem)

    I own a Ford fiesta car TDCI 1.4 2008-2012 model 3 door I think its a duraTorq engine, what injector do they take and how many ohms should be reading on the injector while on the bench

      Best to contact your local diesel centre as I am not 100% sure on the figures as a lot of the injectors give different readings , if you can't get the information let me know and I shall contact mine

      @@paulevans4021 I just bought secondhanded injector they said taken out of a fully working engine, when I measured the resistant's it showed .004 ohms so I guess the top part of the injector is crap, don`t see how this was out of a fully function engine.

    The 1 I took out is showing .8 I ordered a used 1 its also showing point 8 am I using test meter wrong or is mine just a cheap meter

    Sorry to say it, but the method used is completely wrong for solenoid-injectors.
    For example, a Denso solenoid injector has completely new a resistance of 1.1 Ohms. A Bosch solenoid injector not much more. If you set the Multimeter to the 200K Ohm range as done here, the meter will always show '0'.
    You then have to put the meter on the range up to 200 Ohms, at the very bottom. Only then will you be able to read the correct 1.1 Ohms from the multimeter.
    As done in the video, any solenoid injector will be falsely diagnosed as defective.

      Thanks for the response. I was getting a p2149,p2146, p2104. From what I’ve read it is possible to have one injector causing the rest of the codes, but have you seen one injector triggered two of the p2149,p2146? I sent the injector 4 to the company I got them from. Injectorsdirect. I got all 6 of them not even 2 weeks ago.

    Great video. I have a car I have replaced the same injector 3 times. Before installing the injector checked as you have done, perfect reading .. injector lasts a few days to a week ..test it again, bad reading.. install another same story. totally baffled .. Any advice very welcome

      You could have an over power pulse issue, the ecu should regulate the power pulse going to the injector I think you would need to take your vehicle to a diesel centre and get them to do a I depth check .

    Would you get a fault code if the injectors are clogged? I get a reading of 180 on all 4 injectors

    Hi there I just tested all four of my injectors on the 1.7cdti they measure 0.8ohms each with no ground leakage. I was worried as they are nowhere near 180. But they are all the same exactly. Engine runs. I have a misfire and difficult starting when hot.

      Hi the video is only a guide and primarily is for je piezo injectors and the solenoid injectors like yours do work on different resistance. 0.8 sounds about right to be honest

    I test the piezo stack , one probe on injector body and pin on each terminal any reading and it's dead.

      If you get a reading when you test the body and one of the terminal then the injector is faulty

    I'm having trouble after servicing the Nozzles. Engine runs for a few miles and stalls. I found leaks in seals. Replaced it. No leaks found. Still engine stalls. A technician says that it could be the 3rd injector with a wire is faulty. I have Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI ALH 2005

    Can all your injectors go out at once?. I did what was shown here, and they all fall to zero.. what would cause your injectors to all go out at the same time?.. or is the testing procedure here wrong?.

      The testing procedure is just a guide for piezo, if you're testing solenoid injectors then turn your meter up to its highest sensitivity

Or no pulse signal?. also what are the two wire terminals on my Bosch solenoid injector. Two fat red wires!. Constant 12v & pulse? Negative and positive?. Reason I ask is because there is continuity between the two terminals your showing

      The video is for piezo injectors.solenoid injectors work at lower electrical pulses, lower resistance readings.

    Ive taken out my injectrs that are a soleniod type I guess `
    They are Siemens from ford fiesta TDCI 1.4 2008 they all read 205 ohms so i guess they are all good?
    But tried to do a pop off test on the bench, got to 3000 psi and nothing happend,
    As these are the electrical type that need voltage, will they only open when voltage is applied to them,or should they still open but more psi needs to be applied.
    I was thinking the 12v makes the soleniod work several times a second so fuel comes out off and on, But with no voltage and just pressure would still cause it to pop to allow fuel through,
    So back to the question do they need voltage to open?

      I've just watched a UA-cam 'short' video where a man cleans his injectors by spraying canned brake cleaner through them whilst using crocodile clips attached to 11.1 V 30C lipo battery to open the injector. He also uses a tyre valve to remove the core from the injector, wraps black electrical tape around the brake cleaner can's nozzle to provide a tight fit onto the injector. Have a look for this video.

      I've tried his theory out on 4 fiesta tdci injectors and they all show some random numbers and then settle to zero !

      @@hipstarchild doesn’t sound good, get then tested proper by someone before putting them back in. Did they work fine before, I only had mine out cos I was changing the seals

      After watching this video, I decided to test them with the multimeter.
      Now it seem like they are all broken..😕

      @@hipstarchild check the battery on the multi meter or try testing on something else like a glow plug see what results you get

      @@paulevans4021 I've just replaced the battery on the multimeter and still showing the same readings although I did check the solenoids on all 4 injectors with a 12v supply and I can hear them clicking nicely.
      But the injectors which were given to me were from a donor engine which had a tonne of black death carbon on them. Maybe the heat from the engine melted the inside of the electro magnet coils.

    I have injector on newer 11 picasso green clips on return pipes. And one injector is slightly misfiring or rough when engine revs but fine on tickover ever heard of this?

      Yes , there could be a fault with the electrical side or ever a weak electrode and it is called " breaking down under load " simple it can't keep up with the demand of fuel supply when needed

      Injector refurbishers will do this test anyway but really what you need them for is to bench the injector in other areas, like the magnet, spray pattern and flow with (usually) the parameters to be coded to the ECM.
      It really is a specialist trade unfortunately. When you think about the beating diesel injectors get, the tolerances have to be ridiculously tight. They get hammered by compression from one side to high pressure fluid on the other. It's a wonder they work at all.

    I’m a little bit confused! Wire testing with ohm!? It not must be zero,,0”? If the wire is interrupted, it’s says LO not continuity! And when number appears, it’s low resistance! Wire has wick spot! I’m not a electrician! But I’m a vaper 😤😂 and numbers in ohm terms, mean’s tight… and 0 means strong continuity! But like I said, I’m confused!

    I’ve managed to check the 2 on the passenger side when they are in the van and they both went straight to 180 but I can’t get at the other 2 on the drivers side as there’s a black cover I can’t remove any tips would be much appreciated thanks

      If your dmm has crocodile clips you can get to the 2 left ones using a needle nose pliers, bit fiddly. Other option is remove the black part using 8mm socket, or another way is buy a plug off ebay 👍🏻

    I've got the opposite it starts high then drops to 75 ohms. All 4 been replaced 3 years ago and only done 40k since 🤬

    Does it work for Denso injectors? I have a Hyundai I20 and when I did this test, all 4 injectors were showing 0 resistance!

    What if it has around 188 but then drops to infinity, i have 3 reconditioned that all do this, i fitted them and car runs rough

      I'm not 100% sure of your readings. This is a guideline for piezo injectors and not a definitive guide for all injectors.

    1.6 tdi cayx motor injectors as close as poss to 200k Ohm and capacity about 6000 uF, their common problem is internal short to ground at piezoelectric stack - poor design.

    i did this test with injectors still in the car and they read open with a reading of 1.

      It could be a multitude of things. If diagnostics show no fault codes , it could be a mechanical problem with the injectors. Blocked tip: no fuel delivery, or stuck tip: overfueling.

      Mainly piezo injectors ie fuel feed pipe screws on top of injectors

      @@southwestinjectorremovals8932 Thanks, but main question, is syringe leak back test any good on mechanical injectorsl like ones in v70 2.5 tdi or audi 1.9? Did this test it showed double ammount in first and second cylinder

      Yes leak off tests are a good diagnostic tool for faulty injectors. Depending on how quickly the injectors fill the bottles ie if it takes less than 2 mins on tickover then they are faulty and need replacing.

    I've just checked all my spare injectors from a 2008 Vauxhall Combo 13CDTI , each one gave the same readings 0.00

      Try it with the meter on a scale of 0-100 Ohms or so and not K-ohms! If it's reading then between 1 and 4 Ohms depending on the exact type of COMMON RAIL INJECTORS, then they are good. The method here described is awfully wrong for common rail injectors.
