What blows me away most about these videos is not the gear choices but Rabea's ability to mimic the styles of the greats at will. You are a tremendous guitar player!
By a long shot. If you've ever seen them play together life, Bea really makes Rob look like an amateur, which really is nuts compared to the amount of time they've each been playing.

I just had the realization that guitar players will gladly listen to a single note being held for 20 seconds, and find it beautiful, while everyone else in the room covers their ears and complains. Gary was the King for beautiful tone. You guys did well here
I never paid attention to it when I watched this video when it was uploaded. But Gary Moore actually used to switch between a TS9 and a TS10 he used the TS10 more. He also used a Boss DS-1 to boost his strats. But THE MOST IMPORTANT PEDAL HE USED is the Marshall Guv'nor. He used an SDE-3000 For delay and an SRE-555 for chorus/echo

@mark goodchild you are correct sir. That 86 Fiesta Red Charvel was what he used on the the Wild Frontier Tour in 87. What a great sounding guitar it was.

A quick scan of the controls on the amp doesn't really explain the sustain that come mostly from Rabea's skill . How did you get that sustain and vibrato ?
The Tweaker is such a great little amp. I love mine (I have the head and matching 1x12" cabinet, which sounds a bit better than the combo since there's more interior space in the separate cab). It's very versatile -- the USA / AC / Brit switch doesn't just filter the sound. It is actually switching out three different tone stacks which match what is found in a Fender, Vox, and Marshall amp. The stock tubes are mediocre, but swapping them out for quality tubes really makes the amp come alive. You can even swap out any octal power tubes without adjusting anything (it's cathode biased). 6V6, 6L6, EL34, KT66, KT77, 6P3S, 5881, 6550, basically anything. Even EL84's can be used with an adaptor.
Some good ones: Andrew Stockdale (Wolfmother), Tony Iommi, Dan Donegan, Rich Robinson (The Black Crowes), Lynyrd Skynyrd (Gary Rossington/Allen Collins), Gary Clark Jr., The Eagles (Don Felder, Joe Walsh). More out there (but just as good): Chuck Berry, Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic), C.C. DeVille (Poison), Nancy Wilson, Cameron Muncey (Jet), Jeff Lynne (ELO), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols, Iggy Pop). Derek Trucks if you feel like trying your hand at slide.
I like it, i stoped playing due to an accident,my left hand knackered, aint wright, but I'm up and running again, we used to play some Garry songs, and the original all your lovin, been jamming with a drummer but he does Garry Moore version I've got the solo of spot on, but he had turbo charged fingers, so I will have to do it my way, I met him very briefly, what nice person,i loved Garry as a kid, his sole came out of his guitars was verry upset when he passed, i used a bassman and a groove tube to get his tone, niether of with I can afford on my Penshion, but the little amp you demoed sounded goodie liked the young guns playing, have a virtual hug from grandad graham hewitt,
Have you guys ever thought of doing a "versatility" section for these videos? For example, a bit before the end of the video, using all the same gear, dial in a totally different tone (metal, indie rock etc). Then before the video is done go back to the original artist tone you were shooting for. I feel like it'd be a nice little bonus for people are shooting for a certain tone, but also want to be able to have a drastically different sound if they ever need to.
The trouble with this is that Gary Moore's style and gear changed a lot over his career. He started in Thin Lizzy where he was more rock inclined. In his early solo career he did some real rock stuff for which you would want a super-strat with a good tremolo (check out Out In The Fields).
I thoroughly enjoy these videos and you both do a great job. I'm very appreciative of them, so thanks guys. I have a question on this one because I'm not sure you need a delay for this, and if you had an amp with reverb, you wouldn't need that either. I'm also thinking that a twin channel amp of sightly higher wattage, (for headroom) would give you both a dirty and clean lead sound BOTH capable of matching with a drummer. I don't often comment because I can't play like you, and you usually nail it, but having listened to LOADS of Gary Moore I would say that the lead tone is slightly too saturated.
my favourite rig yet!! love Gary ! well done replicating it! love Garys tone and I think in my personal humble opinion you have nailed it!! love these sound like vids!!
Long overdue, a great video. Nice camera and lighting in the ‘video room’ and the audio was fantastic. Accurate playing with all the right Gary Moore tones dialed in without a mega pedalboard.
Done with a Washburn Parilax (due to the lack of Cort MBC's) Egnater Tweaker 40 combo and a Boss ME80 multi fx unit they also got a fuzzface but they didn't use it cos it was way off
Great job with this one. I'm guessing the "fretwork" you didn't like was sharp fret ends. If so, that might speak more to the wood they used than the fretwork itself, but that doesn't matter. Rounding off the sharp fret ends can be done pretty easily. The "budget" Gibson Les Paul's are great instruments with no frills. Binding is crazy expensive and doesn't impact tone at all. If you can pick up a tribute used, even better.
Which era Ritchie? 'Cause you have your '60s psychedelic Ritchie (DP Mk1), your early '70s fast-playing Ritchie (DP Mk3), your mid-70s "FU I don't care anymore" Bitchie, your '80s average-joe Ritchie, your '90s trying-a-heaveymetal-sound-ten-years-after-heavymetal-died Ritchie, and finally your millennium wannabe-a-renaissance-bard-please-slap-me-hard Ritchie...
Red Fang, Iron Maiden, Joe Walsh, Gary Clark Jr., Chet Atkins. I think those would be some cool ones to see. These videos are awesome! Keep them coming!
Yeah, same, I'd be interested to know the technique behind this from someone who knows. I'm assuming the endless sustain comes from the TubeScreamer + Tone City Tape Machine? I don't see his pick hand doing anything, I think he's just holding the bend with his fretting hand and then vibrating it ever so slightly.
What kind of plectrum is Rabea using? It’s roughly the same shape as the ones I use, but a hair thicker. It also sounds less brittle and plasticky on the strings than any of the HUNDREDS of plectra I have used over the years. Bea, don't know if you still live in Brighton but Garys grave is in Rottingdean, just down the road, St Margrets church. Check it out, take a pic along to leave,
Great video and such a good tone to work on for them blues guitarists going for smooth as well as the IN YO FACE TONE. My favourite sounds like so far.
I have to say that if I was doing a sounds like Gary Moore, I would use a different guitar. Simply because a lot of his earlier tracks such as Out In The Fields is more heavy rock and actually requires a locking trem to play. I would use something like the Chapman Norseman because it has the twin humbuckers and mahogany to get into the same ballpark as the Les Paul but would have the tricks available that Gary would have had from his old Charvel guitars.
Thank you for the inspiration and making me digging out my old (and very weak) Gary Moore chops! You two are doing a great job! I recently consider getting a smaller amp as there always is a microphone in front of it. And the Egnater turns into my favourite by now
That's a great little rig and nice choice of player to emulate. Gary had an amazing tone all through his career and was of course one of the greatest rock players ever.
You missed the mark, gentlemen. Moore's Les Paul tone was bright and saturated and heavy. There's too much "woman tone" in what you got here. Recommendation: Decent Epiphone Les Paul with a GOOD set-up, a cranking, Marshall-like tube ("valve" to Limeys) amp, then hit the front end of that amp with the TS-808 reissue with the volume turned all the way up and the "Drive" turned all the way down. All this goodness will have to be presented via a closed-back cab with something like Celestion G12M-25 Greenbacks or G12H-30's in it. Alternatively, you could run the Les Paul into the TS-808 into a tube ("valve") overdrive pedal into a clean amp with a closed-back cab. You'd still have a few quid left over to get yourself a delay and reverb pedal. Boom!
What blows me away most about these videos is not the gear choices but Rabea's ability to mimic the styles of the greats at will. You are a tremendous guitar player!
+LeanMachine96 I agree, much better than Chapman

I love how they went from using the dsl40 all the time to not at all (even if it would make sense). Also please do Lamb of god already
They said they where using it too much, so they said they where gonna stop using it in the last video they used it in.
Sound like Matthew Bellamy (Muse)!
This is the tone i'm searching for some years and never get quite right! Thanks Guys! Gary Was The Best!
*Sound like Robby Krieger (The Doors)*
I have that same 2016 Gibby, and can confirm it's a beautiful piece
How about to put in the 1500£ budget: cables, power supplies, and eventually a strap / guitar picks? You won't get those for free in a music store!
Wow take the pick guard off that les Paul and that's f'ing nice. Makes me love the no binding thing.
Sound like Yngwie Malmsteen without breaking reality
That would be Vinnie Vincent you'd be referring to
No . we ARE at the top with Gary Moore.
Easy
Bravo! That's a killer tone there coupled, of course, with great playing. Enjoyed that one. Cheers lads.
What about sound like gary moore 80's hard rock sound
Gotta love when Rabea's feeling whimsical haha
You can always tell, and its always great haha
Robert Fripp!
Absolutely love Gary Moore and guys sounded pretty great!!!
Do a Sound like "Motorhead"!
METALLICA! Please and thanks! You guys are killing it! Keep it up!
Do a sounds like prince in memory of the legend.
Just revisited this vid. I've bought a 50s tribute on the strength of your review and I'm over the moon with it. Keep 'me coming chaps. Haven't seen a new one in a while. How about John Lee Hooker?
Please make a "Sound Like Breaking Benjamin" Video. They got a pretty unique and dark sound which i would like to achieve.
Bea, don't know if you still live in Brighton but Garys grave is in Rottingdean, just down the road, St Margrets church. Check it out, take a pic along to leave,
yes finally gary moore sounds great guys
Great video and such a good tone to work on for them blues guitarists going for smooth as well as the IN YO FACE TONE. My favourite sounds like so far.
Sound like prince!!
OMG this is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for this series!!!!
Please do Sound like Green Day!?!
Cool video. That axe is soooo tempting. That colour is so nice!
YESSSSSS!! Been waiting for this one! You guys rock!
Sounds like Johnny Marr would be cool!
Thank you for the inspiration and making me digging out my old (and very weak) Gary Moore chops! You two are doing a great job! I recently consider getting a smaller amp as there always is a microphone in front of it. And the Egnater turns into my favourite by now
do prince next.
That's a great little rig and nice choice of player to emulate. Gary had an amazing tone all through his career and was of course one of the greatest rock players ever.
Do Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream era!
Boom!
