At 15:22 minutes, Gary plays a unique pantatonic melody on 12 blues bars, with the ultimate feel and melody, an abundance of feeling on the guitar neck. Sensitive emotions, strong, fast, anguished, sad.
This solo was played in the studio for Phil .... The day he died. The passion shows how much Gary felt about Lynott. That is why it bring tears.... He was a genius at expressing emotion through the guitar. Dearly missed.
Gary Moore is one of the most underrated guitarists. For me, together with Jeff Beck, one of the greatest who could play more than just fast. Gary Moore could undoubtedly do that too; but it's his unforgotten and unique melodies that are more in my mind. Thank you for that - they will accompany me this life and probably the next.

The same here bud i have just listened just it gets you all the time u listen to this amazing track perforned by master at work. THERE IS ONLY ONE GARY MOORE R.I.P
It's the first song I heard by Gary but soon figured out it wasn't his best. Still is an amzing song esp since it led me to discover him. I will say been listening to him for 6 years now and it still feels like the first everytime!
This is from the "Wild Frontier" tour. I know that because I was at the show in NYC. We rented a car in Wilkes-Barre, PA and drove to the big apple. We arrived, parked, and walked to the venue. When we got to "the Ritz", you walk downstairs into the worst firetrap I'd ever seen. Drummer, Eric Singer, now the drummer for "scab KISS" was standing next to me leaning against a column watching opening act, Hurricane. Nice humble guy! An hour later, Gary, Neil, Bob D., and Eric hit the stage and tore it up! One of the best shows I'd ever seen. The highlight was "The Loner." Every jaw was firmly planted on the floor from the opening note until the end of the song.
You sir, are one lucky man ! I would have loved to have been there to see that show, ! I had this concert on VHS, I wished Gary had have come down to Australia more often, I think he only visited us once in 77' or 1978 when he came out with Thin Lizzy- they recorded a show at the Opera House ! Pity I was too young at the time !
The thing I love about the guitar is it's the most emotional instrument and Garry knew how to convey his emotions through his guitar to the point it makes those who listen emotional I don't know about anyone else but to me that's the biggest compliment any guitarist could get, it's a shame a lot of today's players think playing 16th note sweep picked arpeggios at 240bpm is good guitar playing but reality on a 53min record the 1st 3mins are exciting and the other 50mins boring! Then you get a guitarist like Garry Moore who can have an effect on you within an 8 note phrase! He grabs you and gets your interest and then takes you on a journey and 40yrs later that journey never gets boring, I'd be happy with 1/4 of the talent he had.
Never saw anyone pour so much of themselves into their work. A mans time on this planet is so short. And it is not measured by what he says, but what he did. RIP
If only people could stop to compare musicians, Can you guys just enjoy the music ? Music is not about competition, remember that. Music is an art. It's about feelings and emotions. We have plenty of music and we still trashtalk each other.
Gary Moore is the artist that puts the most of his soul in every song he sings. For that , everyone should respect him. R.I.P. Garry , you will be forever remembered.
I'm not comparing him to any other guitarist, but gee, there's really no words to describe it, i think it describes itself, this guy is so melodic, great tone and feelings of emotion. Gary set the bar high here, i'm stoked.!!!!
Moore was at his best during this period. Even the tone from his guitar choice and gear was just right. By no means is he is not underrated by his peers as a guitarist - a wonderful musician in my opinion. Miss you champ
It's a very tough call. SRV and Clapton (in his heyday) could wring a lot of emotion out of one note too. Gary's star is on the rise, just wish he was still here to reap the praise.
It's hard to compare, all the 3 are outstanding in their league. But if you need an intensively soulful or wounded feelings in blues, I'm fucking sure no one could match Gary Moore!
I have massive respect for clapton and SRV. But Gary surpasses them all the way in terms of making hauntingly beautiful melody. Regardless of his incredible shredding capability, he gained his own spot for being one of the most melodic guitar players in history !
Very few guitar players could mix that kind of speed with real taste and blues technique. He was incredible to say the least!! Just pure emotion in his playing. He gave it all.
dilalio cobuns Yeah!! Big shoes to fill. I think the only one that comes close is Joe Bonamassa. I think Buckethead is interesting also. He doesn't seem to have an ego.
I am not even sure he comes close on the emotional side of things, tequnically awesome though. Now buckethead is a different bucket of fish altogether I see many more similarities in his ability to build emotion and the transition from the buildup to the beltout. I love buckethead he is all about the music the same as gary I think bless him.
dilalio cobuns They are all so different!! You are right though!! Joe doesn't have that gigantic emotional component in his playing although he is technically very good. Danny Gatton was his mentor and one of my favorites ever. A real monster!!!
Today marks 6 years since the passing of Gary Moore the greatest guitarist the world has ever seen. No child was ever more delighted to receive his first guitar than Gary Moore, he played it all day, every day, he took it everywhere with him, and became so `as one` with his instrument, that he could reach peoples souls by playing from his soul. Gary Moore who played with a `feel` like no other guitarist R.I.P
Still got the blues for him. I use to play this song by myself, but all that emotion Gary More puts into it is difficult to do so brilliantly. Love this version of it. Must he rest in peace.
from 7:32 forward is the greatest performance in the history of music. I really believe he transcended to a superhuman level from that moment until the end of the song. What a timeless performance wow!
Intense, but always in control. Raw but delicate. No gimmicks. What a unique guitar player. I don't like all of his music, but he was unique and I find myself often listening to him :)
What a legend. Influenced by the greatest blues players of all time, but with a style all his own. Often overlooked, but forever to be missed by those who knew his music. Superb.
this is THE best piece of guitar playing I have ever heard anywhere and by anyone ... RIP Gary you are sadly missed .. you were unique and no one ever has and ever will make the guitar sing like you x

@@mikemichaels420 It seems so many of us only discovered him in the last few years......and are all kicking ourselves for not noticing or finding him. But we are all making up for what we missed and I hope he feels the love.
Only one Gary Moore. 💔
+Nam S.H SOOOOO true!!!
+Stewart Nicol as BILLY CONNOLLY He is Awesome ..... and R.I.P.
I mean I’ve known 2 other Gary Moore’s lmao. But if course I see what you’re saying
15 minutes never felt so short. His improvisation and especially his vibratos are just awesome
Man, this guy could make a broom sustain!
mano a mano Your comment is nearly as under rated as Gary....
"The Loner !"
What can you say ?
It hits you on the head,in your heart, deep in your soul, makes you a thousand pieces !!!
At 15:22 minutes, Gary plays a unique pantatonic melody on 12 blues bars, with the ultimate feel and melody, an abundance of feeling on the guitar neck. Sensitive emotions, strong, fast, anguished, sad.
The technical brilliance and sheer emotional tensity of his playing rips my guts out - best there has ever been. Thanks Gary
Without a shadow of a doubt the best there ever was to play a guitar
Only one Gary Moore = THE Finest electric guitar player ever!
words are not needed. Only ears and emotions
Excellent quote...........
Memories with my dad, I miss you everyday
I would sell my soul to go back in time and watch this man play live. Fuckin love Gary Moore
This solo was played in the studio for Phil .... The day he died. The passion shows how much Gary felt about Lynott. That is why it bring tears.... He was a genius at expressing emotion through the guitar. Dearly missed.
realbworld is this true?
@@janubis5630 the song is not written by gary its written by max middleton , so i'm not sure if it's true
song? where are the lyrics
@@hideentity1518if you don't hear the lyrics then why do you listen this masterpiece?
Gary Moore is one of the most underrated guitarists. For me, together with Jeff Beck, one of the greatest who could play more than just fast. Gary Moore could undoubtedly do that too; but it's his unforgotten and unique melodies that are more in my mind. Thank you for that - they will accompany me this life and probably the next.
He cries and I can say that I can cry also!!! Can't stop listening!! Just unreal!!!! So much emotion coupled with incredible technicality!!! No one ever like him!!!
Dear Gary, every time listen to this amazing track, I cannot check tears rolling down my cheeks. You have been a true legend. You play with our emotions. You are missed big time. RIP
The same here bud i have just listened just it gets you all the time u listen to this amazing track perforned by master at work. THERE IS ONLY ONE GARY MOORE R.I.P
I don’t understand why most people only care about still got the blues, this man never fails to do a masterpiece
It's the first song I heard by Gary but soon figured out it wasn't his best. Still is an amzing song esp since it led me to discover him. I will say been listening to him for 6 years now and it still feels like the first everytime!
Im so sad for new generations that they will never understand this music...
When gary moore makes Guitar scream and cry for him.
Why won't they understand it?
@@kinomemusicidk maybe he meant they wont discover this, they mostly listen to rap or taylor swift things
@@cspllitz1567 No they not, thats what stupid old people like to believe.
I'm 20 and I'm in LOVE with Gary's music 😢
Lucky bastard😄
Wild Frontier tour was amazing
I'll never listen to the studio version again. This is sublime.
God I`m so glad I was alive at the same time as this guy
He makes it look easy, a true legend
I was at this very concert 35 years ago. Great stuff! Gary Moore was one of my top musical inspirations at the time.
Please teach me more about him tell me more about that concert. I just today learned about this amazing artist.
Is there any info of what gear he used? This era was amazing
He was, and still is, a god. ❤❤
In my view the best version of this piece. Hats off and RIP Gary !! 😢
So sad, melancholic and lonely. Beautiful song ….
Soundtrack of my life
The 6 String master. I saw him in 1983. I will cherish that memory forever. R.I.P.
good on yer! you saw the greatest
Never saw anyone pour so much of themselves into their work. A mans time on this planet is so short. And it is not measured by what he says, but what he did. RIP
I saw one - SRV...
This is, and will probably always be, one of my favorite videos.
Yeah,, this is awesome.. one of the great guitar solos
I remember it like it was yesterday, I still get goosebumps. R.I.P Gary.
Unspeakably, insanely good.
One of the greatest live tracks you will ever watch,a truely amazing song r.i.p gary
Moore was at his best during this period. Even the tone from his guitar choice and gear was just right.
By no means is he is not underrated by his peers as a guitarist - a wonderful musician in my opinion.
Miss you champ
Absolutely one of the best guitar players I never got a chance to see perform in person.
The king of Rock-Blues ever!!
Gary Moore belongs on the same level as Clapton and SRV, and even then he'd give them both a run for their money. He had way more than just technique.
I saw both Clapton and SRV and they were never on Gary's level. They were great but Gary is the best ever!
Nguyen Dao Minh absolutely no one.
Mike383HK I think thats why I love it. This is the guy I will emulate or at least TRY TOO
dilalio cobuns Yeah!!
A real monster!!!
sooooo true..most expressive guitarist ever!!!!!
Can't believe it's 5yrs since we lost Gary. Can still remember the day the news broke. An amazing guitar instrumental - wrenching notes from the soul.
Respect this kids a legend
that's Gary Moore there's nobody else can make guitar sings feeling that way
his music speaks for its self. the best ever guitarist.
Completely agree!!!!!!!!!
Yes! Yes! YES!!! THIS MAN IS THE BEST GUITARPLAYER EVER - ever,- lived❤❤❤❤❤❤
totally know what you mean, it's absurd levels of muscianship, not just being a great guitarist
One of the greatest virtuoso guitarists in the world.
Intense, but always in control.
Raw but delicate.
No gimmicks.
What a unique guitar player.
I don't like all of his music, but he was unique and I find myself often listening to him :)
Gracias GARY POR TANTO❤ INCREIBLE ❤❤❤❤❤
What a legend. Influenced by the greatest blues players of all time, but with a style all his own. Often overlooked, but forever to be missed by those who knew his music. Superb.
this is THE best piece of guitar playing I have ever heard anywhere and by anyone ... RIP Gary you are sadly missed .. you were unique and no one ever has and ever will make the guitar sing like you x
Genius of melody, phrasing, dynamic passages, and emotion.
one of the best guitarist if all time
