Honestly thinking about the absurdity of playing a warlock without it kind of seems like the ultimate challenge run 😂 Like imagine this, you can pick whatever else you want but NOT Eldritch Blast, you are required to play as a warlock still though!

Exactly! Like , what’s the point of the sorcerer part.
Mainly to gain metamagic:Quickend. So you can cast eldrtich blast using your bonus action. At the highest level you can (if youre hasted and have action surge from a 2 dip into fighter) cast eldritch blast 4 times equeling 24 beams (if my math isnt wack). If you have effects on that adds damage to every source or such that can total a very high damage number.
You also take levels in sorcerer for A: con save profiency which protects your concentration B: More spells and spellslots then the warlock. The build would also be more sorcerer than walock usaly having a spread of sorc 10/warlock 2 or even Sorc 8/warlock 2/fighter 2. Lastly hex usaly isnt worth the concentration beyond lvl 3 and would be better spent on for example a hast or cc spell.@@Jermel456
@@Jermel456 Sorcerer is there for the metamagic. Twincasting, for instance, is one of the deadlier abilities in the game, and you'll get to a point where you're just cranking out wacky damage. It also gives you a good pile of buffing options, few things match the sheer utility of being able to Twincast Haste on your party.
Warlock doesn't get much in the way of spell slots, so Sorcerer also makes up for it and lets you have access to a full spellbook of CHA-scaling spells on top of Eldritch Blast.

You can do a crit version of this by stacking all the items that add +1 to crit range, has like a 72% chance to crit on each beam.

You can just wear the ring that gives permanent advantage. More attacks, more chance for said crits.
10 Evoker 2 Fiend. Start with 16 int and 17 cha. Kill hag to get +1 cha. Both ASIs go full int to get that to 20. Get the robes from Moonlight tower prisoner quest and the +2 cha headpiece from Sorcerer's Sundries. Now those robes add your charisma to cantrip damage. 10 Evoker lets you add Int to Evocation spells, which Eldritch blast is. With hex up, each hit of eldritch blast does 1d10+1d6+15(5 from cha with the robe, 5 from int with evoker, and 5 from agonizing blast).
Add the Daredevil Gloves from the Crèche. Have someone else throw out Hold Monster. Double it and give it to the next person.
I would prefer the gloves from the circus(missing clown quest or just pickpocket the quest giver)to increase damage. There are a lot of other items to increase spell attack rolls to offset the -5 to hit.
16 in give you +3 its +1 per 2 over 10. 22 char gives +6 so with agonizing blast and the robes with 22 cha it gives +12 (6 AB and 6 Robes) and evoker with 16 int gives you +3 for a total of 15.
Duke ravenguards sword will give you another 2 cha and its possible to get another 2 from the mirror of loss. Though anything over 22 isnt worth the effort.
Change one of the feats to spell sniper and get plus 2 int from the mirror of loss instead. Get the knife of the underdark and risky ring with the spell might gloves and you'll be a god
To clarify for some people you DON'T kill the hag, you just get her REALLY low and take her deal or pass a check to get the item from her. Make sure to select the correct version.
This build got me through honor mode. It was a blast. An eldritch blast.

@@andrewl7148 for the build? Yeah, i followed the longer version of this build video, which gave level recommendations. For the bosses? Not really. I got lucky with Ansur but otherwise my experience on Tactician carried over pretty well.

The longer video is in the description, i think. But i believe you get sorceror for the metamagic and use twinning spells so you can double the amount of eldritch blasts, plus stuff that reduces the number to get a critical+ring that lets you affect plus one use/being with your cantrip.
Something like that i think. Safer to watch the longer video tho cause i'm not a min maxer

To get started, select SORCERER AT LEVEL 1. Warlock gets charisma and wisdom saving throws, whereas sorcerer gets charisma and constitution saving throws.
Constitution saving throw being much more useful than wisdom for keeping concentration on hex.
I would say with this build and given the content of the game, its actually a much better call to start Warlock here.
I’d rather lose concentration on a spell than lose turns at a time from CC spells like Hold Person.
Just depends on your difficulty.
Hire a hireling wizard, trsin it in transmutation and give your lock a transmutation stone for constitution. It gives you proff in con saves. Alternately you can take the resilient feat.

Well, no. You want warlock at 1, then you wanna respec at 3rd level to sorc 1, warlock 2, then you wanna respec again at 6th level and use any other cantrip until 7th so you can use quicken spell, then 7 and 8 in warlock.
BG3 builds get so confusing sometimes to me because I look at a build and I'm like oh that's cool! And then everyone else in the comments is like "You suck for picking this class at level 1, delete this build now and I might spare your family"

Don't forget the Quickfinger Gloves to allow you to cast EB again as a bonus action once a short rest, basically a free Quickened Spell.

@@dreemurrinthenight you buy them at the sourcerous sundries in act 3. They are actually called quickspell gloves. Before that, in the githyanki creche, you can get the daredevils gloves allowing you to cast spells in melee range without disadvantage which is really useful before you really get into all your builds. However, in the beginning of act 3 in the circus you can pickpocket Lucretious and get the spellmight gloves allowing you a 1d8 damage increase to all your spells for a -5 attack roll. If you pick up the risky ring in moonrise towers this penalty is removed and you have advantage instead. If you build a sorclock you have quickened metamagic already allowing you to cast spells as a bonus action so you don't need the quickspell gloves

Hellish rebuke is a reaction which does damage if you get attacked and only works once. It is terrible as it consumes and entire spell slot for a reaction which requires you to risk taking damage.
you're always be at risk of taking damage and hellish rebuke gives you guaranteed free damage when you do. Dex save for half damage, shit's busted dog

Just take Gem Dragon's Gift, for Telekenetic Reprisal. Does basically the same thing, while also probably pushing whatever it is out of melee so you don't need to disengage or eat an AoO to leave melee.
Hellish rebuke is literally god-tier on warlock. Why you using spell slots to attack instead of EB? You use your spell slots for reactions like hellish rebuke and counterspell and then attack with EB

I'm doing sorcerer/warlock. Started with Sorcerer so I can have proficiency in Con. Went draconic soul lighting, then 2 level warlock(fiend for temp hp). I got spell sparkler which does an additional 1 lightning damage, which at 6nlevel sorcerer I can add my charisma damage to that lightning damage. This build is pretty fun and I'm loving it
throw in a potent robe to add cha modifier a second time on the force damage
they patched out the draconic sorc 6 adding cha to lightning charge damage

Later in the game, around act 2 you should relevel and take old god since survivability from fiend begins to fall off. Also if you invest 2 levels in warlock and 5 in sorcerer you can get haste which will give you an additional blast which is much better in act 2 onward since most targets are undead. Can also bring gale who also gets haste and have him cast it and you can caste darkness on you both while using devilvision from pact invocations and give gale the prevents blindness ring from act 2 so he can still attack
There's also an eldritch invocation at level 5 that gives you haste once per long rest without using a spell slot
You can use gauntlet with « primary spell can be used as à quick action » from the sorcerer shop in baldurs gate city

Yeah the bonus action glove is only once a short rest. The spell power gauntlets are just on.

i know for a fact its because of metamagic, specifically quickened cast that you get at level 3 of sorcerer which lets you use eldritch blast with bonus action so you can cast it twice per turn.
you also want agonizing blast on level 2 of warlock to add extra damage.
maybe get 2 levels in fighter for action surge which will allow a third cast of the blast.
Why not get three levels of rogue too and take theif for that extra bonus action? Just to really say "Screw you in particular"
Eh two levels of sorc for more spell slots and sorcery points is probably gonna be worth more then 1 extra action every short rest (also remember, sorcerers get haste)

I did this build at the start. When Wyll wasn't missing half the fucking time, it was good.

Yeah I think this Short isnt His whole story because He mentioned it's good for the start - tho I usually keep my distance with a warlock in the start, any playthrough one of the people in my group will take a barbarian so that's usually the front line.
If your doing a sorlock, you want to start with sorcerer first for proficiency in constitution saves. A bonus to concentration is always a plus when your trying to keep hex up.
The strongest build is actually a rouge monk Karlach with soul token used, up to 44 damage with hand attacks and 110 damage per bonus action, so technically you're shy of 300 damage per turn, and if you add a potion of speed that get up to 350, I'll experiment with adding two levels of fighter for action searge, hope that'll add even more damage
Even though it comes at lot later than for Karlach, you technically get better damage using Astarion as a Vampire Ascendant, as he get a 1d10 bonus on-hit compared to Karlach's 2d4

How does Sorcerer boost the edrich blast? I would rather go second Warlock subclass and multi class into fighter -champion to get extra crit and more% frighten chance on enemies
Sorcerers gain access to Quickened Spell Metamagic, which allows you to use your bonus action to cast spells. So the main gimmick of this is that you just cannibalize your Spell Slots for Sorcery Points in order to keep fueling Quickened Spell.
The whole build goes: 1 warlock, 6 sorcerer, 5 fighter iirc. You get to stack action surge, haste and twinned spell, for a total of 9 blasts, 12 if you use elixir of viciousness and kill an enemy. With a 24 charimsa modifier which makes EB insanely busted with the robes, and critting on 15 and above.
1 level of draconic sorcerer can provide +3 base ac, and 4 levels of champion fighter (not worth it) can decrease crith threshold even farther
Don't remember the names but there's gear that cause reverberation when you do damage with a spell.
And other gear that adds on doing more thunder damage and such.
And it stacks on each hit.
The best warlock was my bard/warlock Johnny. He lost a fiddle contest with his patron the devil.

Homebrew Spell Idea:
Eldritch SMASH!
1st Level Spell
You infuse your fist with the eldritch force your patron provides you. Make a melee spell attack. On a hit, the target takes 3d10 force damage. This spell also gains any benefits gained from Eldritch Invocations that effect the spell Eldritch Blast.
Upcasting +1d10 per additional spell level. If cast as a third level or higher, you can cast the Eldritch Blast cantrip as a bonus action, as long as you target a creature other than the target of this spell.
for this build DO NOT PICK THE FIEND. pick the great old one warlock. you get much more frequent fear procs.
Warlock-great old one 2, fighter 2, sorcerer 8. Take devils sight, agonizing blast. Have gale cast haste on you. Now you get 12 attacks per turn and with darkness, they all have advantage with your enemies unable to even attack you back.
Does the bug where you can get sneak attack on EB still work?
@@RG32822 I'm not sure, haven't tested it to be honest. But, I do know that darkness is still bugged and does not always grant advantage for every shot like it is supposed to do. If you get the risky ring and equip it that will make up for that.
Gotta say, I played with a Paladin 1st play though. I was like a god level end of act 2 and into 3. Especially double wielding maces each hitting 75+ damage.
you are not dual wielding as a paladin dealing 75+ damage per hit...

Starting a sorlock as a level 1 warlock is insane. You absolutely want constitution saving throws for your concentration.

Having just finished honor mode I think the most OP build is swords bard archer with mystic scoundrel and arcane acuity ring. Poor raphael, ansur, the end dragon, orin, gortash, they never got a turn 😂

I find it more fun to wait until level 4 to pick up Eldritch Blast for these builds so I can take the Spell Sniper feat and double my crit chance on each roll
This was my build for my first playthrough, it was so fun for the big battle but was low key dull after a while. Repetitive to the point of basically assuming that I’d be eldritch blasting literally every attack, it was almost surprising when I’d use something else.
Eldritch blast is for when friendly fire is turned off
i love builds that have 1 good attack per long rest
EB is a cantrip
It's not per long rest that's what makes it so busted
Combining scorching Ray and Hex is also a neat damage combo as well. If you grab the circlet of blasting you don’t have to worry bout using extra slots as well.
Me and my wife never needed focused builds and threw on anything that fit our class and we never needed carry abilities. Honor mode will be the same because we can just re download our saves and we don't need carry abilities and can instead learn over Crack the whip methods to widen our understanding and overall not require cheese.
I personally like old great one sorlock stacking crit for even more absurd DMG I had like a 40-45% crit firing 12 EB per turn

Sorlock has been broken through all of 5e, and Eldritch Blast is just one small part of why
Sorlocks are also known as coffeelocks as mechanically you cheese avoiding long rests. The warlock spell slots return on short rest, sorcerer eats them and turns them into sorcery points, etc
Warlock: For when you want to play D&D as an idle-simulator, while you play other games or do other things :D

Eldrich blast becomes Eldrich machine gun.
Yeah, but once you use up all those sorcerer points in that ONE eldritch blast, you're spent. You blew your load. You're out the rest of the fight. It's much better making a Sorcadin who can smite a dozen times a fight, or a tavern brawling monk/thief who gets 8 punches at 50 damage each a round.

I scream like I’m in Harry Potter every time I cast Eldritch blast, which, let’s be honest…is pretty much the only thing you can do 😂
Got the strongest damage outcome for you. Okay as Monk, and Subclass into Rogue to lvl 3 and choose thief. Then continue to lvl up monk class and pick tavern brawler and Way of The Open Fist. Depending on what you wear and use, you can do tons of damage. Plus, you get 2 attacks, 2 bonus actions without a potion of speed, and the bonus actions give you two multiple hit attacks as well as two main attacks. My character at lvl 9 did over 140 damage on his turn in the final fight of Act 2.
Highly suggest people give my set up a go. High survivability, high damage, good movement.
Unless they fixed the lightning charge bonus damage bug I don’t think any martial class can come close to casters in terms of bursting damage
@@rayzhang7591well, haven't played in a while, but dealt way over 150 dmg per turn as barbarian fighter (essentially 1-shotted Gortash)
@@rayzhang7591 The Tavern Brawler OH Monk build he described doesn't beat the burst of Fire or Lightning Sorcs, but their damage per round is probably top in the game. Meaning, after the caster blows their load they're useless, but the monk can keep going, and have insane damage too. It's probably the strongest build in the game rn and more than capable of soloing on Honor mode.

now you have 7 adds to deal with and you're running out of spell slots. Open hand monk is great damage with consistency. Temp/sorc is for long rest spam because you want the best first turn one-hit shots but you fizzle right after
When I was playing at first I thought Wyll was pretty crappy for combat, but I kept him around cause he’s my bro. But around Act 2 he really becomes a badass.
The sorlock was my first build in bg3 cuz I knew it was the best build in dnd
Open Palm Monk all the way. Never used to play the monk class until my last playthrough where I respec'ed my fighter into a str+dex monk (TB). I get 3 attacks standard, without waiting to hit level 10 to get my third attack as warlock. With the gloves and the added damage boosts, I hit 36 as minimum per hit and all the way up to 64. Even more if I use a cloud giant elixir. Due to my Tav's high dex and use of Helldusk armor, I get rarely hit and if I do, the damage resistance shrugs a lot of it down, even with my meager 55 hp. If I use my ki strikes, my damage is doubled. It's an outright boss killer, especially if you hasten yourself and have high initiative.
I would also add that command is a good option instead of hellish. Especially for single target enemies. It can ruin their whole day at the cost of 1 level 1 spell slot
2 Warlock, 2 Fighter, 8 Sorc. Make sure to take Agonizing Blast. At lvl 10 and up: First round Hex, Eldritch Blast for 3 bolts. 3d10+3d6+15 base damage w/out feats or additional items.
2nd round: Action: Eldritch Blast, Action Surge: Eldritch Blast, Bonus Action: Quicken Spell: Eldritch Blast. That 9d10+9d6+45 base damage. That's 126 average damage in your nova round. Before any items, feats, or buffs.
While you only can action surge once, and a lvl 8 Sorc can only has enough base sorcery points to quicken spell twice, you have a whole bunch of spell slots you can convert to make bunch more. So against a boss like Raphael, Gortash or Orin, you can have more rounds where you can cast at least 6 eldritch blasts
i built my character around using hunters mark and everthing to complament that. my output can be bettwe 25-75 with addidtional psychic and necrotic damage 1d4 i was able to take orin down fairly quickly
Warlocks are great until they miss against the Fighter who still has an Action Surge waiting
For a Sorlock build in BG3 or dnd, ALWAYS start level 1 as a sorcerer. That’s sorlock basics lol

I much prefer 4lock/8sorc for the twin cast haste and quickened using eldritch blast / scorching ray but that’s just me, in the past I still preferred 2 of those in the party over 2 fighters or BSers or OH Monks

Dont the weapon you get as a reward from that location on fire adds a 1d4+ damage to spells and that boot you buy in the undergrond also adds a 1d4? Also, the sword in the underground that makes a area where if you cast a spell while being in that area + 1d4 or something like that?
I'd argue the Old One patron is slightly better because of the fear effect it can give.

it was back then, now its still strong, but there are way crazier builds that you can use in honor mode
I put the wavemother gown on him because it was hot, discovered the ‘extra feature’ entirely by accident. Wish we can get multiples, the entire team with all their sexy voices deserve this
17 charisma + 3 from feats is 20. Hags hair is +1. Mirror of loss not only gets you a +2 to an ability of your choice but you can also get a +1 to charisma (look up how). That gives you 24 in charisma. People will reccomend the +2 charisma hat but you don't need that unless you didn't get/already used hags hair.
I mean yeah, the sorlock is no secret in regular 5e but lets be real, you can make anything broken in BG3 with the abundance of magic items you get and the uniqueness that some of them offer. I'm lucky to end up with any magic items beyond a +1 weapon when you play regular D&D lol. Here you'll have like 4+ different items stacking on different damage buffs. You won't normally have that except maybe on a weapon that adds 2d6 elemental.
Huh. And I thought BG3 items were weak, especially compared to BG2 or WOTR. No idea how anyone can play without some epic +5 loot.
@@Hainbane I mean D&D has some strong items, but mostly at like very rare and legendary or if the DM homebrews items. A lot of items end up being more miscellaneous for RP stuff, things that don't necessarily work in a game like BG3. As far as I know though, a lot of the set style items, like the lightning charge build and similar stuff like that aren't a thing.
@@furyassassin Also most of the DND magical gear that is not caster specific is hot fucking garbage. BG3 did a great job adding interesting armor and weapons to add tons of power to both melee and magic classes. As a result melee only classes are viable and interesting which only happens in 5E with a ton of DM help and homebrewing.
Yep if you wear that robe that add Charisma damage this spell is op. Does like 15 damage a bolt
You really want to take Sorcerer first for the proficiency bonus to Constitution saves. Concentration is a Con save and Hex requires concentration.
About 4 or 5 you r want tho switch to sorcerer as lvl 1 for armor and switch to great old one for crit and either thief for bonus action or I think it’s champion sub for extra crit get the dagger from Cazador and the knife of the undermountain king for crits
Polearm master and the pact of the blade to get a polearm pushing blast invocation and war caster to push them back (or kill them) when they get close due to polearm master giving you the reaction and war caster ( I may have named the wrong feat correct me in comments )letting you replace the weapon attack with a spell i.e. Eldritch blast

You can't use hellish rebuke when attacking. You can only use it when you are attacked.
This reminds me of a thing I once read about a guy always using Eldritch Blast to one shot everything, only to fight something that was immune to it and immediately dying before bitching about how bs it was he died.
Man,I don't know how this game mechanics work,the only "Combo" I've discovered it's the Magic Missile + That weird electric staff,but in late game it seems to not do a lot,so I'm going back to raw damage
ditch hellish rebuke with fiend and go Great Old One and Armor of Agathys. Armor is basically both Fiend and hellish rebuke with an added fear. Much better both short and along term.
I dunno, 5 cold damage, scaling up each level vs 2-20 fire damage on a reaction scaling up each level. And warlocks already have different ways to gain temp hp so it kinda becomes redundant
@@FrostyFyre30 cold dmg flat to meele attackers for the whole day or 7 to 70 fire for a maximum of 3 reactions if you do not cast anything else requiring a slot? Unlike 5e, the effect of AoA does not end when the temporary hit points deplete.
3 reactions if you don't cast anything else per short rest since you get all your slots back on short rest, plus with the amount of camp supplies and the fact that I usually have a wizard or sorceror on my team I'm always resting so my warlock never runs out of slots@@cn_nightingale
@@cn_nightingale tested that theory on my last playthrough. You lose AoA effects when you run out of temps. But AoA works great on an abjuration wizard + warlock (you can also find some gear that will help regain temp. hp)

Sorc 1 would give you a better chance at keeping concentration on control spells up.
start with 2 levels in fighter to get all the good proficiencies and action surge to blast even more
If I learned something from JoCat is that if you’re a Warlock; there is no need for anything other than eldrich blast
Hmmm, I have to be honest. That turn to cast Hex beforehand could be the difference maker in winning and losing. I'll stick with what I got.
