    Have followed Kate for a few years now as well as Ray Peat. Agree with everything in this video. RP information led to the creation of my own workout program for the normal person just trying to be healthy, focused on maintaining health and metabolism in the process.

      Hello,
      I've been trying to figure out a healthy program for myself too.
      High volume, high frequency, 1 rep max sets are destroying the body over time,not building it.
      Everyone talks about training like they are Arnold, Franco and Reeves. Those were men who were made to lift heavy weights and they also took hormones.
      For a normal person, a set of an exercise a few times a week is ok.
      What is your program?

    I bought her book and ate like she recommended and my SIBO was on fire. Back to carnivore diet or at least not eating the foods she recommends.

    I am 43 yr old woman, I am 5'8.5" tall and currently weigh in at 100 to 104#. I've been an exercise addict (3 days cardio, 3 days weight lifting, daily 6 mile walks) for 12 years now. Discovered low carb after several health issues with gluten, dairy and some other starches about 7 years ago. I've not had a period for going on 5 years, my hormones are so low they don't even register on blood panel, I have hashimotos, my body temp has been 96.4 to 97.6 for years, my pulse will drop down to the 40's, insomnia, night sweats, libido disappeared about 4 years ago, osteopenia, I am always crabby, very anxious, fine motor skills seem to be lacking I am weak, have little muscle mass - BUT IM THIN! Sheesh. Oh and I have diabetes type 2 which i control with diet. I know something needs to change, but don't even know where to start. I have a love hate relationship with exercise now, want to eat everything in sight (have never been able to eat sugar, fruit, grains without severe bloating since 6 years old). Feel very stuck... try to add in 1 ounce sweet potato get blood sugar levels in 200's with severe headaches. Yep stuck...

    This was great. It always seemed interesting to me that when under stress people eat more. I’m the opposite. Always cold and always lean, working out, “fit” by all the measures done in college health wellness & fitness courses, vo2 max, heart rate variability test etc. Recently found out I’m hypothyroid. A bit shocked because I dont look overweight, you can see abs if I flex (but I also found out I have high androgens for a female). & hypothyroid not in the way that I can’t make enough hormone but that I have cellular resistance high RT3 and low adrenal hormones. Looking back I thought its better to be the kind who doesn’t eat during stress... now I realize it’s the opposite as long as you’re able to digest it can counter act the high stress hormones before everything down regulates including sex hormones. So much to learn. Hopefully one day this will get into schools and be common knowledge

    Is there any merit in looking into thyroid hormone supplementation to help things along at a quicker pace? I believe Dr Broda Barnes was an advocate of this?

    • @stevensmith4706
      @stevensmith4706  5 років тому

      Yes. It is important to ask your doctor to test for thyroid function with tsh, free t4, and free t3, as well as tpo for hashimoto's if symptoms coincide with hypothyroidism.

    What about gaining weight/fat from taking time off from exercise whilst eating right? I pounded on 10# in a month eating my usual diet but no exercise.

    Valuable information on the dangers of overtraining and how volume/intensity/frequency need to be adjusted to optimise recovery. However, the part about keto was complete bullocks and I'm surprised this is coming from a registered dietician like yourself. Studies have shown when properly fat adapted, keto individuals show similar muscle gain and anerobic performance as high carb individuals.
