I have a 2016 Precedent and when i pulled it out this spring my battery terminals were pretty corroded. I cleaned them up, changed all lugs besides the main power cable and added water. Once driving the cart it will go 5 minutes then battery light comes on. After about 10 minutes battery light begins to flash and cart will begin to stutter. Voltage on all batteries is over 8 and pack is over 48. Load test of each batter is over 8. However 1 battery is 7.75, could this one cause this issue? Im lost and not sure how to proceed next. Ive charged at least 4 times now and always same results
Hey Tony! Thanks for stopping by. We think... get some safety glasses, gloves, flashlight. Start a charge and remove the caps from the battery that tests under 8. Hey Dave, I've got a 97 yamaha g19 with new batteries, cables and speed control, but cart voltage still drops to the 30's after about 30 min and I have to get it back on the charger, also the motor has a whooshing noise while driving, thought it could be a bearing, but the rear wheels spin freely, any idea where to check next
Thanks for watching, Brady! The symptoms you describe typically result from an issue with the charger or even sometimes a bad cell in a battery, even if they're new. Chargers don't always show symptoms of going bad other than early power loss and you may not be getting a full charge if the cycle doesn't complete. When checking individual batteries does each battery need to be disconnected from the series of batteries ? Also can you load test an individual battery with multimeter ? Thanks

My 36 volt cart runs good but I decided to check the batteries. Each battery checks 6.2 or above but when I check from pos no. 1 to neg no 6 I get nothing. 1 to 3 gets 18 volts after that (4-6) I get nothing.

Hey Dave I've got a Yamaha DR2E20 and I took the motor out to service it. I was having issues with the cart accelerating properly. It would start to accelerate at first then about halfway through pressing the accelerator it would stall. I replaced the speed sensor and still had the problem. So I felt the motor might have some sticking brushes in the motor come to find out the motor is brushless. After I installed the motor back the cart was in some sort of limp mode or I failed to put something back together right. Everything works like it should. My batteries are at 52 volts can you help me out?

I am learning everything I can about our golf cart & the batteries. My husband has dementia and we use it around our small town to go to library & grocery store & post office. I have learned how to bring dead batteries back to life but now I need a multimeter but the ones on Amazon are to be installed. I want a handheld like you used in this video. In future videos when you use a product could you mention the name & brand you use for newbies like me? Thank you.

How can you tell if it's a charge issue or batteries
Great thanks . I was told testing batteries individually when they are connected was wrong since they are drawing from each other. They should be disconnected to get a correct reading. Is this true?
Hey, Rudy! The draw from other batteries is relatively negligible, especially when not in use, so this should not affect your readings significantly when they're connected. But, for the sake of argument, you could also disconnect one and see how/if your reading changes if devotion to accuracy is worth the time. Hello i have 2006 club car 48 v ds iq cart. New batteries, cart drives fine except suddenly stops abruptly,let off pedal and starts again. But continues this all day. Help please

There are so many different powertrain types out there between 36 and 48 volt carts in several manufacturers, so it's not as universal as that. Hey man I just found your channel it’s great. I bought a easy go golf cart on consignment and it’s already dead.
I bought it in December but my wife and I think that one of the outside plugs was not giving the card enough juice. I’m going to test the voltage and then tried to get a 12 V battery charger on it before I drop a bunch of money. Thanks for your help!!!

So my surface charge is 52.1 to 52.2v. Thats after a full day to charge and after a full day at rest of the charger. It dips to about 50.8v under a load test after being jacked up and blocked off. With the pedal compressed about 75% of the way. It runs around 23 mph. Has 4 12v trojans that are 4 years old. I even disconnected all the batteries and test them one at a time for surface charge. Which was around 13.2v There is no way these lead acid batteries have that type of charge, being 4 almost 5 years old. Because i drive about 1 mile and the ezgo low battery kicks on. Since it is the ezgo system with the magnetic break system. I didn't want to lock it up. So i towed it home. Now for those that say its a bad reading or bad multimeter. I got the same test results from a $100 multimeter. I am stumped and want to convert o lithium but I was to get the right size for my cart. Since there seems to be a ghost in the system. I am about to make vide3o and post it tonight. If you click my name to see it. Im sure by the time, someone post the correct solution. To this what i assume is a simple fix, on the issue at hand. Ill most likely have it fix or converted. For those they come at me with have a professional look at it or some other Jack handed comment. Just know im trying to learn to do it myself thanks but No, this is my side project. If it takes me a year to resolve so be it. Teach a man to fish vs give a man a fish.
Thanks for watching! Sounds like you've got a good start on it. What we find in a lot of situations like you're describing is that a good charger and relatively good batteries can cause what we call "Phantom Power". This means that a voltmeter might show stored voltage after overcharging when one cell is having an issue and not showing up. One way to look for this cell is to get a load tester machine. Another is to use gloves, glasses, flashlight... start a charge cycle with the water caps off and look for the cell that doesn't bubble while the rest do. If you fail the load test (more than 2 volt drop) then you move on to test the indicidual batteries....but do we test them all just for surface charge or we perform the load test on them?
Thanks for watching! We recommend load testing all the batteries individually. One bad battery, or even one bad cell in one battery can disable the cart. That battery at surface reading can give what we call "phantom power" seeming by voltmeter to be good, but then actually load test bad. If you have more questions or need help, just get in touch! @Golf Cart Garage ok so start with surface charge...then test battery pack drop voltage at around 75% theottle....then move on ONLY If the voltage drops more than 2 volts because if it doesn't drop more than 2 volts then there is no reason to test further as it has passed
While we can't disagree with that logic, it can't hurt anything to get individual battery tests to see if just one is acting up. They have a tendency to hide around here...

Nope no need, You was right...I had 2 dead batteries...i did what you said and one battery came back..the other one not so good...but i had a extra...but it runs now...And all the credit goes to you

You can not get a accurate load test with the golf cart on jackstands. You need to have the load test done while driving it with a real load, the cart on stands is not going to give you real results
Can't argue with you, there, Rick. You're not going to get exact measurable readings with this method. But, if you have a battery dropping out under load causing a powertrain issue and you don't have a load tester on hand, this is the best way to sniff that out for a lot of people out there.
