Very impressed that this UA-cam man takes the time to answer questions. Alot don't. Good for you. I don't have an electric golf cart yet, but may someday. Right now i came here because an aircraft tug vehicle with similar battery setup has taken a dive in a few months of non-use and coupled with weird extreme cold in the deep south. When I say extreme, I mean EXTREME ! January 2024. I'm confident your instructions will work great! Thank you
Thanks for showing as it is helpful. My golf cart is club cart 36 volts with 6 batteries. Will that also applicable if I plug in the charger, and the reading for 1 of the battery is more than 6.5v or less? My batteries reading without the charger are from 6.2 to 6.5 volts range for each. Thanks for help.
Your batteries are low. What I am saying, is when the charger is running, and 1 of your batteries voltage us twice as much as the others, then that battery is bad.
No video, none needed. If you need to replace a battery, being careful, flip tow switch to tow, remove the 2 cables going to the bad battery, and lift the bad battery out. Then drop in the new battery and rehook up the 2 wires. Just don't let the 2 wires touch anything or each other.
Very informative video. I also have a ez go rxv. Bought it used and batteries are not lasting to long after a charge. Going to check if 1 battery might be bad of if I should just replace all. Thanks again.
Question for the teacher: I have an ezgo golf cart from 2010. When I try to move it, it sometimes takes 1 or 2 minutes to move. I just bought it. What could be the problem or is it normal?
If it sits for awhile, even a few days, without being used, sometimes the obc goes to sleep, and to wake it up, you have to step on the go Pedal 2 or 3 times.
Hi Wayne. Thank you very much for the video. I love your content. I have a question, is there need to be any special battery if I have to buy one? I am assuming you just need to find a 12 volts battery similar as the ones used in cars. Thank you
Maybe you have your tester probes on the wrong terminal. Mathematically doesn't seem possible,. Send me a picture of your entire battery compartment so I can see all the batteries and wires. Also indicate where you are placing your probes? Text the pics if easier 760 393 1314
I recently bought a used 2012 RXV and was wondering if you like and recommend your watering system that you have on your cart. I learned that back battery is a booger to fill up. Thanks
I am no longer a fan of watering systems, after seeing batteries blow up due to gas fumes getting trapped inside the hoses. My best advice is to install a lithium battery set up. Next, just the normal 3 in 1, or 4 in 1 caps that normally come with the batteries. You can easily reach those rear holes with a Hudson sprayer like I show in my video.
Here is my answer, I would say if the set of batteries are all the same age, and are 3 years old or more, then change all at the same time. Anytime you only change 1 or 2 batteries only, the remaining batteries will pull the new batteries down to their level. Therfore the new batteries will have their life lessened. Now if your set is say 2 years old and 1 battery goes bad, then yes just replace that battery. And if you do, try to find a used battery about the same age, or if not , you have to buy a new one.
Thanks for this video. My EZGO txt only lasting about 9 holes and really struggles on uphill. I've checked my 6 batteries at full charge. All measuring 8.6V. Should I measure again when the cart is nearly out of power?
Check volts on each battery and also on the entire pack, check them twice, charge them and let them sit for about 6 or 8 hours or more. Then drive cart for awhile and recheck all over again, then let's compare the numbers.
@@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 ok so I drove around about 1.5 miles this morning..indicator shows about 2/3 battery but all batteries reading 8.4V and full set at 50V?
@@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 I wish that were true. The power is definitely down when indicator says so, once indicator gets to 50% the cart can barely make it up any upslope. Cart in question is ezgo txt 2+2 from 2018. One thing is one of the batteries measured 5V at first, but when I rechecked it was 8.6. This happened twice. Once at full charge, once after running down a bit.
I have a 36 volt ezgo, time for new battery, been thinking of of with 3 12volts, do you loose in the way of distance and performance this way? Say with 12 volt marine deep cycle battery.
DO NOT USE MARINE BATTERIES FOR A GOLF CART!! they will only last 2 years max, and your distance sucks. If you have 6. 6 Volt batteries right now , totaling 36 Volts , and want to replace them with 3. 12 volt batteries you can do that but your distance will diminish because 6 batteries has more lead than 3. 12 volt batteries
Would a bad battery only let the cart barley move? Got a friends 36volt cart and if I slightly hold the pedal done it will move but not very fast. All the batteries test over 6 volt but one and it’s at 3.4. Thanks
Thank you! Can you do a video about what cables are connected to the batteries? I am trying to follow the wiring diagram, but I don’t know if the wires are stock. I have two extra wires.... Also, when I hook the receptacle wires up, the green light comes on even if it isn’t plugged in.... help! :)

Wayne thanks for this excellent video! I have a Club Car cart and it took 7 hours for a full charge. Only used it about 1 hour and it would not start so I charged it. 2nd time time it took about 5 hours to recharge it. It starts now but I must have a bad battery. Can you help me?? Subscribed! 😊😊🇺🇸🇺🇸
Your charging times sounds normal, nothing unusual. BUT if you can only get 1 hour of driving out of a charge, that might be a problem. Get a volt meter and check the batteries, before, during, and after charging.
I have a 48v cart -4 12v batteries. Put the charger on and the meter only came up halfway. Put battery tester on - all showed good under load. Put the charger on another cart and the meter went to full charge. Any ideas?
If both chargers worked the same on both carts, then that would there might be something different about your cart. There may be no issue at all with your cart, if the batteries are fully charged, and charger is acting that way.
Not following you? You want to see the charging on only 1 battery? If you have a set of 8 volt batteries, you can check the individual batteries with a volt meter.
I use cleaned and tightened all my terminals. Without the charger connected, there is about 48 volts across all the batteries. When I connect the charger, the charger meter goes to 15 amps and stays there. That doesn’t sound right to me. Suggestions?
Sounds like it is working correctly. Leave it plugged in, in about an hour the meter should drop to around 10. Just leave it alone , don't unplug it. If charger is running after 16 hours, then you can unplug it.
My batteries are jumping from 0 to 18v when plugged into the charger. Charger light is on on the charger but doesn’t show it charging light when plugged in. Have 6 12v batteries
Some things don't sound right here. First if your batteries are at zero volts, they won't trigger your charger to Come on. And if you have 6 batteries at 12 volt each, that's 72 volts. Exactly what type of golf cart do you have? When was the last time the cart was driven and last time it was fully charged? How old are the batteries? You can send me pictures of the charger and the entire battery area so I can see all the batteries and wires.
When testing voltage on individual batteries , do you disconnect the main ground to the OBC and the main power first? Do you disconnect all the batteries or simply put the negative and positive leads of multi tester on the positive and negative posts of each battery.
@@waynemartin.waynesgolfcart4900 the six 8 volt batteries are all reading 4 volts. The charger is fine. I had it tested . More than likely the onboard computer not allowing the charger do it’s thing. Tested the charging circuit and everything seems okay.
