He might come back but I can't see him staying. Hopefully he's getting that resume tightened up with all this free time. Because he's looking like a million bucks right now. Take the high road and get the fuck out of there.
I even heard there's a rule about Orioles commentators not being allowed to mention or acknowledge the names of former players. Even more insecurity. This all sheds a little light of what it's like to work in the warehouse. I cannot stand nor do I trust the angelos family. Especially when the lease is not signed.
Why is everyone surprised? This is how rich people act.
I don't get the Hawk comparison. Yes, he's a homer, but he doesn't sugarcoat things either. He gives credit to the other team for playing well, and he heavily criticizes his own team for being bad or dumb and losing. Some could argue he's _more_ objective than a neutral announcer. He just roots for his own team and not anyone else.
Maybe these guys should interview Hawk about the current team.

That won’t happen
They will never move out of Baltimore. IDK what type of protests or other actions would happen, but about 40 years after Colts snuck out overnight, Older fans who remember and the younger fans wh grew up on that story of them leaving, through legal actions or the fans themselves taking action and doing.....it just wouldn't happen today. The Orioles and Baltimore, and Maryland for that matter, are all part of each other!!!
IDK why the lease isn't done yet? Was supposed to be done ASAP after he was serious about moving them to Nashville. I thought the Baltimore Mayor even said its a priority! Read into that what you will ?
For one thing ,If the Orioles lease ends at the end of 2023, they don't have a place to move to for 2024, and if they win the World Series this year, they're not going to take off in the middle of the night

I'm a White Sox fan and glad this came out. I'm going to sound like some 8th grade teacher but these Sox have been soooo disappointing really these last 3 years & more. This is Jerry Reisdorff that owns this team. The guy who owns or owned the Chicago Bulls when they won what 5/6 NBA titles. I think he could afford to spend a little more on this team. Have some players in the minors that could come in. How the Hell does Tampa Bay do this when White Sox can't figure out who is on first. Picking up Andrew Benintendi & holding pat as a free agent does not cut it. I think he is a decent player but really? Sooo disappointing.

Winning units have strong leadership at the top. What a shame to have this distraction in August as the team is playing well.
@3:56 unrealistic to think announcers can ever be independent from the teams. Even "independent" rights holders like ESPN are influenced by what the owners want. It's a business relationship with billions at stake. Let's be realistic here.
We have owners, brothers, who just spent months suing each other with the mom accused of influencing something about the control of the franchise.
If this doesn't tell you all you need to know, then please look up the story and read the details. I'm sure there will be some stupid movie made based on these 2. A great team with great & loyal fans, who have Beavis & Butthead as their owners. Or just Butthead now. IDK which is which ????

The asshole doesn't care about the team. Any other owner would have given praise, through his PR people or do it himself, for what this team has done this year.
It was the fans tonight that were left shocked & speechless! After being in control of game for the 8 innings. Honestly I thought we'd put up 8-10 on board after the quick 5-0 lead. Its an important lesson to learn, and tomorrow night is another game
But Yea Down 3 and give up Grand Slam in 9th inning is most dramatic way for a team to win and the other to lose! Only way it would have been better for you if it was Bot 9th at home

The O’s players, coaches, & fans deserve a championship. But seeing any member of the Angelos family raising the trophy would be revolting.
This is not the same game I grew up with. Baseball is meant to be a pastoral game NOT a mechanized game like football. Greed has destroyed the game in many ways.

I love that they brought up Hawk. White Sox might have the single best play-by-play guy and the least enjoyable analyst in the country. Even during 2020 and 2021, when I wanted to celebrate with their fans on what a young, exciting team they built, I just couldn't listen to their broadcast. Too much homerism is obnoxious, even if you want to like the team and get behind them.
He's gonna leave for sure now after this season. He will be great on those Giants broadcasts. LOL! So the Angelos family just continues to be their own worst enemy. John Miller and Joe Angel was the best booth crew I had ever heard. Bar none. And the Angelos family screwed that up too. I love the players and the Baseball people but ownership continues the 30 year legacy of being a clown show.

I usually hate all things New York but I wish Baltimore had a history of tough journalist. It just doesnt.
John Smoltz legitimately sucks though. There is no fan base out there that likes him besides maybe the Braves (and that is a maybe because while they obviously love the player, I still imagine plenty of them don't enjoy listening to him call a game). He is terrible. I do get what he is saying about national broadcast booths (though every single one I've ever watched definitely has some clear bias, even when I'm watching as a neutral party). But Smoltz (and Perez who is just terrible) sucks.

Because the story about his suspension wasn't really known until August 7-8, when people behind the scenes started saying he got suspended because of the Trop-ical Depression segment. Until then it was a bit of a mystery

The question I will always have is whether Ken Rosenthal and Paul Anka are actually brothers.
Jon Miller single-handedly made me an Orioles fan when I moved to Maryland. When Peter Angelos got rid of Miller, all enthusiasm for the O’s drained away and has never returned. I could have jumped on the bandwagon this year, but now there’s no chance. If Baltimore makes it to the playoffs, I hope they lose in the first round.

1. He wasn't fired, he was suspended indefinitely.
2. We don't blame you for not believing it, it's not something that's logical or rational. But it's the truth. Orioles fans know all too well the sad history of petty, toxic, childish behavior from the Angelos family. So believe us when we tell you this is really all there is to it.

I’m no Whitesox fan but as a Bulls fan they might as well move to Rockford that way he has an excuse for running the franchise like the Pelicans.
