I'm using that to describe a fitting individual whenever appropriate time arises.
That suspension is insane. U can't ignore stats and history. He wasn't bad mouthing the team. Just being honest that they've struggled the last few years against the rays. He was basicslly just getting fans excited to turn the tables on them.
Right he is doing his job as a broadcaster giving information and getting people hyped. Like is he just supposed to stand there and say "go team" 😂 it's such a petty bs suspension

Chris Rose needs to be careful during the Warehouse Games broadcasts. Jimmy might suspend him when he talks critically about Team Baggage and is inspired by the O's ownership.
Us O's fans love KB and have been worried about losing him for a while. He's just too good to not be doing national broadcasts full time. Feel like this is just gonna expedite his departure unfortunately 😢

As an O's fans if this story is correct it makes it embarrassing to support this organization.
Even more of a shame that it is overshadowing such a great season we have had. Of course management is doing everything possible to ruin this team's story. I watch a lot of different broadcasts but I believe Kevin is one of the best announcers currently in the game and we're going to push him away... makes me sad.

I think the culture problem in the Sox was overlooked because it’s such a superficial observation. I am a Cubs fan, and have heard rumblings for awhile, but never paid it much attention. Then the Cubs played the Sox two weeks ago. Everything made sense. I saw Miles Mastraboni line a one-hopper to Tim Anderson who lollygagged the ball to 1st base, barely getting him. Then Robert allowed Tucker Barnhart to go first to third on a liner. They built a team around prospects and never surrounded them with on and off field leaders. An ill conceived plan from the beginning to the end. And it looks like they didn’t solve anything at the trade deadline. Lollygaggers.

Feels like the O’s owner is now interested in his team because they are doing good finally and he decided to watch the pregame for the 1st time. I bet he thought the analyst were there to promote the product and not call it like it is and suspended him without knowing how it actually works. It’s the only way I can see how this could of happened. An owner who misunderstood what the announcers are supposed to say.

I don't expect the average fan to be aware of the years long ownership drama in Balto. Here’s my attempt at a "brief" explanation with background:
Peter Angelos, a world acclaimed Workers Rights attorney (guy who sues employers on behalf of employees), buys the Orioles in the early 90s.
He’s 94 y/o, in 2017 it was revealed he had full blown dementia, and never set up a succession plan for Orioles ownership. So his wife kinda took over, but then she succumbed to same thing very shortly thereafter (both are still alive, somehow)
There are two sons who are fighting over the team (John and Louis)...they sued each other last year. They are both considered, immature, petulant, and untrustworthy. One son tricked the mentally incapacitated mom into signing something giving him the team w/o the others son’s knowledge.
Peter Angelos was often chastised by the fanbase for making bad ownership “decisions”, i.e. always signing the wrong guy, firing someone too early, etc. But he was somewhat respected.
The sons have lost all respect from the fanbase. The brother who is taking over as owner (John) is probably the more competent one, but he’s way shadier. He ridicules and lies to the local media. The State of Md has made multiple comments that it is the Orioles who are dragging their feet in executing on a lease extension for Camden Yards.
Every time John opens his mouth in public, he ends up making a fool of himself and the media just roasts him. So this Kevin Brown drama supports every preconceived notion we have of the Angelos family and I imagine Orioles nation is enjoying the national media catching on.

Red Sox fan here; I think that Chaim Bloom still possesses that Rays mentality of not spending big and acquiring big names. The issue is that Boston is a big market team. I don't care about luxury taxes and stuff like that. You don't trade away homegrown talent like Mookie Betts. Since 2018, there really hasn't been a good decision we've made besides extending Devers and signing Yoshida. Why are we signing old men like Kluber, Turner, and Duvall? The latter two have been solid, but we cannot win a championship like this. Granted, this team always performs well when the set expectations for them are low. The underdog mentality is a huge bonus for Boston teams, but we can't rely on that every year.

@@wendeborn8 Yes. The Angelos family has a history of similar toxic behavior. They believe anything that could even remotely be viewed as critical of the Orioles lack of success reflects poorly on them and makes them appear 'cheap' (which, spoiler alert: they are). The father Peter ran Jon Miller out of town almost 30 years ago because he wasn't 'rah-rah' about some mediocre Orioles teams in the 90s. Just a couple years ago, they fired their PA announcer (just an hour before a game, in fact) for Tweeting that he was 'happy to be back with fans' (because, you know, Covid). And now John decides to suspend Kevin Brown because he spoke about a pre-made graphic (that would have had to be approved by the team's own PR department, because the Orioles actually own MASN) referencing how much better the Orioles were doing in Tampa than in recent years. It's small-minded, petty behavior from a man who unfortunately can't be expected to do much better.

Listening to more clips and context at home later in the evening... I think it was the comments about the Orioles being crap in the past that offended the Orioles owner (whereas when I first heard the story in the car, I thought maybe someone was saying he was trashing the Rays... he didn't trash EITHER team, he just spoke the truth. Jeez).
When I heard Robert didn't know his bench coaches name a month into the season I knew something was wrong with this team...

Grifol has been crap since day 1. He's been awful all season in press conference after games. The problem stems from the top though. I don’t think the Angels get enough heat personally. If the Yankees or the Dodgers had Ohtani and Trout (let’s remember, the #1 and #2 BEST players of this generation)- the teams and players would face a media shitstorm for underperforming to the level the team has. Im glad this happened because the Baltimore people need to know about John Angelos and his history of shenanigans. He is the cheapest guy in baseball and he cant stand anybody who exposes this fact. He is not only cheap, hes stubborn, thin-skinned and worst of all biased. This guy is the reason why we were so bad for years. He is the only onw that can hold the Os back and hes doing it agin in 2023. Hopefully, Orioles Magic will not let John Angelos bring down the team just like Orioles Magic allowed the team to be in first place.
Beyond embarrassing
Plouffe is still defending the Angels trades. It was obvious from their injuries and pitching they weren't making a run. This whole still think it's the right move talk is all about defending your previous opinions instead of taking a step back and looking how bad their roster was because of injuries.
