    That front light shroud does nothing for me and I prefer my 3rd Gen rounder and minimalistic bodywork to the more angular shapes. Radiator shroud is an improvement though. Looks aside the improvements are nice strengthening an already brilliant bike.

    Awesome bike but it's frustrating that Yamaha continues to put sub-par braking systems on their machines. I mean this bike has enough power to get you into trouble and then they don't give you the brakes to be confident that you can stop. Even my CB650R has twin 310mm discs and Nissin 4 piston radial mount callipers. It's one of the few things about that bike that make me think "Nah I'll pass". Sure I could save and get the SP but I think it's a bit expensive and overkill for my skill level.

      I seriously doubt that simply switching to stylema calipers will give the desired effect. The wooden feel is mainly caused by the over intrusive ABS.
      Apart from the stock pads being a bit tame there’s not really anything wrong with the hardware.

    • @The.JZA.
      @The.JZA. 9 місяців тому

      @@MachoMadness69420 I don't know bro, I have never even ridden an MT09 but I do know that just about every single review that I watch of the MT09 mentions the wooden brakes that are underpowered for a bike with so much thrust. With good power comes the need for great brakes. Underpowered brakes are a recipe for disaster. If they just made the discs 310mm then that alone would make a good difference. I'm not sure what comes with the Stylemas on the SP but hopefully it won't just be the callipers but also steel braided hoses and Stylema master cylinder.

      The map bit of the dash does look quite small. Why wouldn’t you want the biggest screen possible? It’s not just about eyesight, it’s what detail a quick glance gives you as you switch from looking at the road - a bigger map display in the dash would make it easier all round. I suspect that Yamaha, like all bike manufacturers, has budgeted this bike down to the penny, and if they could fit a bigger dash and stay on budget, and thought most buyers would want one, they would have fitted it.

    How does it compare performance wise on the road compared to the Triumph Street Triple 765RS?

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  8 місяців тому +1

      The STR would be the fairer comparison, until the SP comes out anyway. STR feels more locked in, has a better braking feel too and has a lovely engine. BUT, the MT09 has that hooligan factor that's missing from the Triumph. Not everyone wants that, so it's nice to have a choice. And I love the STR.
