As a person who just enjoys your videos, it would be nice to see the finished product video of you cutting the seams and what the final slab looks like. Thanks for sharing Mike.
Excellent video with great explanations. You definitely are a master of the trade. You are so right about having a crew that has worked together so long, making it easy. Have you seen any problems waiting too long to saw cut your joints, meaning slab cracks before saw cut.
There is another popular Concrete UA-camr I watch from Wisconsin that is probably a larger company than yours but yourself and your crew are by far much better skilled.
@@MikeDayConcrete I'm 62 and have been driving trucks since I was 18. I used to be able to jump to the ground from the top step of my tractor... Now the first thing out the door is my butt with a hand on the grab handle and slowly step down backwards!
I started learning about concrete in early 2000's with a commercial and industrial construction company in Canada. We faced extremely strict pour guidelines and there was always an Engineer on site hovering over every pour. This video is the closest thing I have seen that comes close to that. You are WAY above and beyond 90% of the contractors I have seen over the years. Well done.
How common is it for a homeowener to do everything except pour and finish a concrete slab themselves? In other words, excavate and build the form themselves then hire someone to pour and finish the slab itself.
First thing any rookie mason should learn is to bang the d stakes below the form. Please be more careful showing people "how to do" things without doing them right.
I'm building a house in SE Idaho. I have a lot of exterior flatwork to do (driveway and patios will be around 80 yards). If i were to tackle this myself with a few high schoolers, how many trucks would you suggest we try to tackle? Is one truck probably all we could handle? Could we maybe do 2 trucks per day? My plan would be to knock it all out in sections over the summer. Appreciate your content. Thanks in advance.
the darvey, (I'm sure I said it wrong). Kirk Giordano Plastering, always talks about that. As he does plastering, and stucco. I think in San Fran, the bay area, and among other things, and has a great channel, and been doing it like 40 years, like you and he's also very professional and explains everything like you do to the lay person. If you haven't seen his channel I encourage you to watch it, I think you would like it. I love watching you guys, it's amazing how you make it look so easy. But, it's like I tell most people, I could teach you, in about an hour, how to wire most, (about 75%), of a house, and ppl don't believe me. Great video.
I am 17 and a pan on starting my own buisness, I have a question, when you mag the whole thing after you broom can you see your mag marks or where you swiped your mag?
What kind of mix you use? We're there and spider web cracks from frist? I live in Michigan and deal with the same weather basically. Dew side jobs I had I'm probably might do but not sure
Love your videos your so professional and you work so fast. I don't know how you guys do it I'm electrician by trade but my body can't do it anymore. I've had so many surgeries and back an knees so messed up ugh. God bless you guys are a credit to your profession.
If I’m going pave over where the water main and sewer line is.. what’s the rule of thumb for replacing topsoil, gravel/material type.. I’m imagine local codes may vary.., I may be replacing the lines to know I have fresh lines under the driveway.. thanks.. and I love love channel. I’ve learned a lot from your channel since I got my first house.. Thank you..
You guys always do great work and great teamwork... Something i was taught we spray wd40 on our brooms before use and after when we store it away..keeps concrete from sticking
Do you pay your empoyees by the hour or by the job? What is the hourly rate there? Do you pay hour from the shop in the morning until you get back to the shop at night, or do you not pay for travel, just job site time? Thanks
Love what you do! This project you and team did is the closest to my first concrete project I'll be doing this year. I'll be taking your class first though.
Good morning, like you said everyone on your crew can do it all so no difference skating it out or brooming, it's going to all get done! The bottom line! GIT ER' DONE!

Yes . Please revisit a few job sites. Been wondering how they look. As well as cutting in expansion grooves
Great suggestion!
You got to show the finished product. Major let down.
@7:30 Question...If the forms are square, why the angle on the rebar towards the end ??
Nice to see you have long time employes you must take good care of them.
Doing research to start my own concrete business in Jamaica. Your content has been so integral in my learning process! Thank you so much Mike.
You are so welcome
It is always a joy to see you guys work. It is clean and effective. Great workmanship.
Thank you very much!

God bless you that at 57 you can still do all that work on your knees!
So far so good, I stay pretty active hopefully that helps too.

I wouldn't fiber for the next guy. No one likes waring mask and once it's in your lungs it's going no where so I look out for them
What is your opinion on guys that just bullfloat and then broom without troweling? That's how a lot of guys do it in GA on driveways.

It's not very common but some do it.
Your videos are absolutely awesome, man. Thank you for sharing your work and your knowledge.
Glad you like them!
Ok. I saw another video of some guys pouring straight concrete onto some grass.
This is like the Manningcast of slab pours. Well done!
Another excellent video ! Making it look fast and easy !
If the forms are left on for 2-3 days, does the outside edge get a stronger build strength ?
This time of year not so much (as in the video) if the temps are colder that could help if you leave them on longer.
I need this well constructed pad in my back yard so I could put a workshop/garage on it for projects.
This would make a great pad for a garage.

They were on ledge right there.

When you know what your doing its all simple ,,, lol
This shines with quality though.
Thanks Tom!

Did Luke and Darren get anything on their hunting trip?
They didn't get a moose, hunted all week and didn't even see one.
The Moose came to MN, lol 😆😂

For some odd reason I was hoping a moose would appear from the background treeline for Daren and Luke. 🤪. Another slab for the books.
5 minutes to tie all the rebar with the loop ties?

This is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for documenting and sharing your work.
Hello Mike. Why no poly or moisture barrier under the rebar? Is the parking slab for a garage?
It's just to park on like a driveway.
@@MikeDayConcrete that makes sense then, lol. Thanks for the videos and response 😊🇺🇸👍
What is the cost for square foot for a project such as this. Gravel labor concrete? I want to do a drive in Chicago burbs.
Very well done 👍 excellent. Thx 👍⚾️
Hey Mike I been loving your videos for a while. Where do you get the bolsters? Thanks.
