I LOVE my HTC 10 especially because it seemed like HTC was getting back to their roots of making an extremely high-quality all-rounder, but the U Ultra was the biggest disappointment I've ever felt about any tech company. The U Ultra needs this bashing, so HTC knows what's up, and try harder for their next flagship.

I can't believe that when this video was made $749 was high-end. Oh man how things have changed. When I bought my S21 Ultra last year in Canada it cost me $2200 CAD. And even in the US they're starting price was really expensive. Every device is getting so high-end now

I'd buy a Galaxy S7 Edge over this and that came out a year ago. In reality, people who work at ATT, Sprint, and Verizon just push whatever phone they want. The majority of people going in there don't know anything about phones and it's equivalent to selling used cars. If HTC shows seller incentive people will push it. But it probably won't do well regardless. More and more companies are going with 2 year contract/upgrade plans though, so that 750 tag turns into ~25 bucks a month. Which really isn't that bad.

I think people are too harsh on this phone. The asking Price was crazy, yes... But keyword: was. Now you can find it for €290/$345 - much, much cheaper than an Galaxy S8, LG G6, HTC U11, OnePlus 3/5/T and of course any overpriced iPhone or Google Pixel... Hell, it's cheaper than a HTC 10! Even the "kings of affordable", Huawei and Xiaomi, don't have any Phone that can match this one in the Price/Value ratio. At its current Price Point, the lack of water/splash/dust resistance and smaller battery size is much, much more tolerable. You still get a huge, high-resolution screen, premium design and build quality, fantastic camera... Oh and 4/64GB RAM/Internal combination; for €100 more you can get a LG G6 with 32GB! Further, unlike its rival the LG V20 (again, more expensive) this Phone is will get Android 8 and doesn't have (a relatively high risk of) bootloop issues. So, some 6+ months down the line, this Phone is IMO an excellent purchase. It may not have the modern memes of Dual Cameras and Bezel-less design nor a Octa Core processor (your PC doesn't need 8 cores, why would your phone?), but it is still above any and all midranger (even HTCs own ones!).

This phone is for little over 300 dollars in my country now and here all the phones are more expensive compared to USA. For that price it's great phone. Bad initial reviews helped to reduce the price dramatically. Good for us.

ahmdhziq my only problem with my M8 was how hot it got...that thing got so close to burning my hand after pretty light tasks (watching one 10 minute YT video for example). The phone was fantastic though, wish HTC had continued in such a fashion!

I think this phone was made to mock apple, it has no headphone port, and has an extra, small display for notifications and quick use of apps... Not to mention the price...
I have been using it for couple of days and trust me, no headphone jack is not a problem at all. the audio is excellent on the Usonic earphones. The extra display is great to have all the apps that use frequently. Price might be a little price for some, but these are the same people who buy Apple and Samsung. This phone is twice better than what others have in market. So why nag about the price.

My biggest gripe with your reviews are that for Samsung and Apple you tend to love bragging about the super positive things, but are way too polite about the negatives and mostly always turn them into a "less positive". Whether thats out of fear that you wont get sent review units or higher priority, it doesnt matter, that isnt how you got where you are today. Please realize that we want to continue to see your courage and honesty, we dont want you to shy away from that based on some super awesome Samsung/Apple incentive. I can't believe that when this video was made $749 was high-end. Oh man how things have changed. When I bought my S21 Ultra last year in Canada it cost me $2200 CAD. And even in the US they're starting price was really expensive. Every device is getting so high-end now

I'd buy a Galaxy S7 Edge over this and that came out a year ago. In reality, people who work at ATT, Sprint, and Verizon just push whatever phone they want. The majority of people going in there don't know anything about phones and it's equivalent to selling used cars.
If HTC shows seller incentive people will push it. But it probably won't do well regardless. More and more companies are going with 2 year contract/upgrade plans though, so that 750 tag turns into ~25 bucks a month. Which really isn't that bad.

I think people are too harsh on this phone.
The asking Price was crazy, yes... But keyword: was.
Now you can find it for €290/$345 - much, much cheaper than an Galaxy S8, LG G6, HTC U11, OnePlus 3/5/T and of course any overpriced iPhone or Google Pixel... Hell, it's cheaper than a HTC 10!
Even the "kings of affordable", Huawei and Xiaomi, don't have any Phone that can match this one in the Price/Value ratio.
At its current Price Point, the lack of water/splash/dust resistance and smaller battery size is much, much more tolerable.
You still get a huge, high-resolution screen, premium design and build quality, fantastic camera... Oh and 4/64GB RAM/Internal combination; for €100 more you can get a LG G6 with 32GB!
Further, unlike its rival the LG V20 (again, more expensive) this Phone is will get Android 8 and doesn't have (a relatively high risk of) bootloop issues.
So, some 6+ months down the line, this Phone is IMO an excellent purchase. It may not have the modern memes of Dual Cameras and Bezel-less design nor a Octa Core processor (your PC doesn't need 8 cores, why would your phone?), but it is still above any and all midranger (even HTCs own ones!).

The real reason Apple took the headphone jack away was because any company who wants to make accessories for the phone has to pay a patent fee. Basically they can get an even larger profit on their phones.

They were the ones who innovated Android phones as we know them today. the problem is, the common idiot either buys a Samsung or an apple and doesn't look anywhere in between. so, essentially HTC's sales went down because nobody noticed them anymore after the S3, and they have since had to greatly reduce their employees and now they have to price phones for the high just to stay afloat. and it's not going to work out well for them, and it's going to be very sad to watch what's coming to them because they were such a great company but the consumers have ruined them

This phone is for little over 300 dollars in my country now and here all the phones are more expensive compared to USA. For that price it's great phone. Bad initial reviews helped to reduce the price dramatically. Good for us.

had problem with touch screen. had to replace one within a year and then it failed again before the next year. I owned HTC desire, HTC ONE X and M8 but that it. No more HTC. Poor quality control and customer service.

ahmdhziq my only problem with my M8 was how hot it got...that thing got so close to burning my hand after pretty light tasks (watching one 10 minute YT video for example). The phone was fantastic though, wish HTC had continued in such a fashion!
I still use M7 as my daily driver. Mostly because I can't buy a Google Pixel that easily in Denmark- But I agree, back then HTC actually managed to make good phones. RIP HTC :p
I changed my M8 for an HTC 10 and it is a great phone , But it seems HTC has lost it again , they could have done much better after htc 10 but for some unknown reason they messed it up AGAIN .

I have been using it for couple of days and trust me, no headphone jack is not a problem at all. the audio is excellent on the Usonic earphones. The extra display is great to have all the apps that use frequently. Price might be a little price for some, but these are the same people who buy Apple and Samsung. This phone is twice better than what others have in market. So why nag about the price.
