I was disappointed at day 11 on with mine! By the end I just shook my head. I was so excited in the beginning with the amazing skin care then it went downhill from there!
It's advertised as beauty and fragrance not beauty and make up.

I have a feeling the cosmetics partner didn't fulfil their responsibilities. Harrods wouldn't normally put stuff like that cheap £12 Kylie lip gloss or £14 Charlotte Tilbury mascara in a luxury offering (they'd often throw it in free in your shopping bag instore when making a larger purchase). I imagine heads will roll somewhere in the purchasing department! 🖤
I swear the phrase "makeup and skincare" is code for "one red lipstick, one black eyeliner, and 22 skincare items"

well yeah, cause skincare is (slightly) more universal than makeup. honestly I'd rather get a bunch of serums and creams than multiple hot pink/red lipsticks I'm never gonna use. the only way a full makeup calendar would make sense to me is if you at least got to pick your skin tone and if you like cool or warm tones..
But they say that. They said 'beauty and fragrance' so I guess they focused on the skincare side of beauty (which is more universal than some makeup products)

If they're going to put makeup in the calendar, I would have expected something like Chanel or Dior. I would be murderous to spend this kind of money on a calendar and get a trashy Kylie Cosmetics item.
I was definitely surprised by that as well! Not sure when Kylie Cosmetics officially became luxury 🤔. Personally, I just don't see it.
If someone like Kylie had tried to go into Harrods when they were first opened, she woulda been thrown back out on the street.

I worked for Harrods the past year, and got training on Sunday Riley - apparently, the reason the glass bottle is so light is because the type of Vit C used in their CEO line (the vit c line) is formulated to be inactive until applied to the skin, in contrast to other brands (they meant the ordinary lol) that use active vit C, which deteriorates quicker. They did say you were able to not have to keep the glass bottle in a dark place, and that it wouldn’t deteriorate from sun exposure …
But I would take this with a pinch of salt, as I was also told that they didn’t use any fragrance in the CEO line, but that the products had a natural orange scent from the formulation … what this ACTUALLY means is that it contains citrus oils (which is still a fragrance and can lead to sensitivity and irritation) but they got around listing it as a fragranced product by saying that the citrus oils were in their for skincare effects and not as fragrance
So just something to be aware of !
Also the vit c oil is intended to be used after cleaning and before serums, to allow it to penetrate deeper to the skin (contrary to most oils which as to be used as a last step or last before sunscreen)
All of their active oils are to be used like this (CEO oil, Luna oil and UFO oil) but not Juno oil, which is a antioxidant hydrating oil, which is to be used as the pat or before last product x
Shampoo and conditioner would be 2 different days in Sephora 🤣
For a $1350 value, I would like a piece of jewelry for day 24. I would like a surprise big gift in calendars like this. Wouldn't it be nice and leave all with a positive experience to have a $200 bracelet or pair of earrings on Christmas eve? While I like the color of Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk, they are reaching and grasping every ounce of popularity of the shade when they use the name for their mascara.

I felt that part about the baggies. Do I use all the teeny boxes and bags I’ve saved over the years? NO! Do I continue to collect them? HECK YES.
One day…maybe…possibly…there will be an opportunity where someone will need a teeeeeeny box or cute baggie, and we will be there.
I kinda like that they're cutting back on the waste. How many people are just throwing them away and they're just ending up in the landfill? Or at some point ending up there. Plus the extra waste while making them.
So not necessarily the same kind of fabric but a possible option...I had a friend that was a bartender and saved all of the crown royal bags and made a quilt out of them. Someone bought it. Perhaps there is an alternative use for those little bags too.
I have a drawer full of collected rubber bands, paper clips and other assorted 'treasures'. Probably die long before I use them all

Yep, the perfume and lipstick definitely should have been full size. And the fragrance definitely could have been something a little more mass-appealing than the Between Two Trees. Definitely glad i watched this one before splurging!

I think repeats from last year are fine … as long as they are quality products that people really love. The Bader and Strum skin care would have been gone in 2-4 weeks easy. So, it makes sense to include them again.

Same! I’m almost 37 and I used to buy every palette going and never use skincare, sunscreen, or even wash my face all the time (and I totally used wipes when I did 😬) now I prefer the skincare side! I still love fun makeup I just don’t use it very often anymore!
I have a feeling that the calendar is aimed at 40 to 70 years old ladies. Which is probably why it’s skin care heavy. Every time I’ve been in Harrods which is only about 4 or 5 times as I don’t live in London, it seems to be mainly middle age (which is me now 🤦♀️) to older ladies with money (not me 😂). I feel that they would be extremely fussy with their make up, and that it would be very expensive, like Channel.
I've had a few chanel products and they kinda suck, not gonna lie. I got some of those chanel eye quads and they're just....fine. the formula is kinda of chalky

I think the lipgloss only has one ingredient because it's clear. The mica would be used to tint the base a new color. So one ingredient it probably accurate in this case.
I love that Eve Lom cleanser. You can just use a regular cloth and skip all those steps and it works great. Perfect for removing makeup

I had a jumbo sized one of these in my beauty stash. Decided to try it when I got it in this calendar and OMG! This cleanser is by far the best I’ve ever used. I use it every night now and will make it my staple.
PSA from a pro! When you get to the Lancôme calendar don’t swatch La Vie est Belle on paper and sniff right away. You will hate it! Give it a moment or two then sniff.
For such a fancy brand I'd have expected stuff like Victoria Beckham Beauty, Dior, Natasha Denona, etc not Kylie Cosmetics and Bobbi Brown! This is really disappointing all round but your commentary made it thoroughly enjoyable as usual :)

The ren day was so satisfying 💜 Also personally if companies are classing their advent as a skin care and make up then 1/2 of the days should be skin care and the other 1/2 makeup. Not 90% skin care 10% makeup (more like 95%:5% for this calendar 😅)
That perfume by floraiku - between two trees is so nice. I've been wanting it. Even a travel spray that size is like 60+ $
Eve lom (the cleanser with the cloth) have their own advent calendar. I think it's adorable because it looks like a very elegant mail box.
If this was marketed as a make-up calendar and I got that amount of skincare I would be a little upset. Like, ok the brands of the skincare are great and so os the value, but I bought it for the make-up.

To be honest, I think the only people who buy the Harrods Advent calendars are 1. Influencers who are doing beauty Advent calendars on their social media channels. And
2. Men with money who don’t know what to buy their mums, girlfriends or Grandma.
I have done a lot of research for my daughter as her hair was getting very thin the Champo brand has been an absolutely amazing in improving the thickness and texture of her hair in just a month of using shampoo and conditioner plus the growth serum we have seen a big improvement. Would definitely recommend you try this brand 😀

They’re pretty good. The only thing that put me off were the pink grapefruit items. The scent was strong, and seemed to permeate everything. I personally loathe grapefruit fragrances.

The Christophe Robin hair scrub is pretty aggressive. The salt chunks are huge. The Ouai scalp cleaner is way better. It’s sugar so you get a scrub but it melts fast so it’s not as harsh plus it smells amazing.

Gisou hair products are actually really nice. It’s a French brand and I absolutely swear by the hair oil. That said, it’s also sold at Sephora and while it’s a prestige brand I’m disappointed it was included in the Harrod’s calendar. CEO Glow is a great product, but you are absolutely right that it should be in a tinted bottle. A little of the oil goes a long way so that was an exciting item to see.
Would be awesome if you reviewed the Liberty London advent calendar. It’s a brand that started as a fabric designer and has branched out over the centuries. It’s been gaining more interest in the states recently.
The ceo glow uses a form of vitamin c called thd ascorbate, which is highly stable, so it doesn't need the dark bottle to protect it from sunlight.

Theres a brand called Lily Lous Aromas (a candle company run by an amazing 10 year old as part of her home schooling) that has a candle advent calendar and i think youd like it! Her candles are great🫶💜 and shes just the cutest kid and im rooting for her so hard

I have the Harrods advent calendar (I worked with them and got it discounted and as my Christmas present from all my family) and each advent calendar does include a booklet that has every product listed and each of the products individual ingredient lists - you are also able to check online for any allergen information!
OK, so people can judge make fun laugh whatever, I accidentally used that scrub as a body scrub once and it’s bloody amazing! Now I regularly use it once a week, a little goes a long way, and your skin feels so silky and smooth😂

I’m a Canadian educator for Dermalogica and the PreCleanse is a beautiful product! It melts off any makeup, sunscreen and debris built up in the skin and smells beautiful. I think you’ll really enjoy it ☺️ apply it to the skin dry, massage it in and then add water to emulsify and rinse off!

Good news, re. the cleansing cloth. Skin doctors say "closing your pores" with cold water is bunk, so you don't have to worry about it! (You can shrink pores with retinol, but that's a whole different thing )
You cannot shrink pores either you can increase collagen production and decongest pores but their size stays the same.

Got to say, that EGF serum does work to rejuvinate the skin. If you can afford it, that is. My mom used to buy it before it got stupid expensive, and she loved it. Was the only thing she used on her skin for years (she was a farmhand and never much liked beauty products before then). I tried it myself, but I have sensory issues with my skin and it made them worse.

The Eve Lom cleansing balm is amazing. But it has a very strong clove scent so be forewarned. I don't mess with the muslin cloth. Ain't nobody got time for that.
