Bill Warner is the Founder and Chairman of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Foundation but he was also a participant in the 1975 Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. Even though he really went by Captain Marvel, he was part of the basis for Dom DeLouise's character - Captain Chaos. Learn more about the Concours at ameliaconcours.org/

Bill is an amazing person, with fantastic stories!
agreed
Bill is a truly legendary figure of the Cannonball community and the car world in general. Right now I am in Amelia Island for the Lux Rally stop but I will be back here in 2 weeks with Hoovie and Tavarish to judge a class in the annual Concours Bill organizes here. Beautiful place.
Thank you hoovie for paying Ed's way on Amelia Island! Who knew snakes like to travel? Finders fees are usually grey areas for most but for ed it's one hell of a green day! Taking advantage of your friends strange addictions is frowned upon in my neighborhood, not sure about your fly over state. Hopefully hoovie doesn't keep that murci and can recover from that excessive fee.
@@Liladelph Dude, really?
Deep breaths bubs, I hope you'll be ok?
Jax seems to be popular with car buffs in different arenas.
@@Liladelph You are a white knight exemplified.
Ed Bolian what do you think about dde racist comments?
New favorite storyteller on VinWiki. Rabbit's got flair, but Bill's got something special.
I love stories like this. Stories from older people with so much experience, so much history, people who have seen and done so much in their life. Please, more stories from Bill.
P.S. Bill looks like he still slays at the track and on the street.
Yep, I'm always sorry more firsthand stories from WWII weren't captured.
Ed , Thanks for keeping our stories alive for the next generation. They are a great part of American automotive history and need to be recorded and passed along before all of us OG’s are gone.
* 1971 Porsche 911 for sale *
"One owner, never driven too hard, clean title & Car Fax"
Just a fender bender, slight bondo repair
Kept in California, never seen salty roads.
would kill for that car
@@andrewbergman1 Ummm ok... *911 we got a bad ass over here
UA-cam under Recommended every time I open the app: “I bought a Lamborghini from a Prostitute.”
Me: “Ok fine. I’ll watch it again.”
It is interesting that the recommendations have changed to videos I've already watched. Definitely good catching old vinwiki videos again though.
Still the funniest Vinwiki video.
Last time I was this early, the SV was still in Canada.
Clint Gliford still is... legend says
👍10:17 “ The purest may not like it, but so what! Is my car”...
And a fine example at that🏎💯
*purists
Love hearing the OG stories. Great guest.
Bill and Christopher are some of the best storytellers I've listened to. As a photographer I'd love to listen to stories nonstop from Bill, a true legend and expert while also being charismatic.
This is all just awesome. I wish this guy was my grandad.
Imagine Bill telling this story to his grandson only to tell him "okay boomer"
Man. This channel has totally reinvigorated my joy of learning stuff online.
Catching stories and characters like this is an enriching experience, justifying UA-cam's existence.
Love it.
"the purists might not like it, but i don't care its my car".......love this guy
"Your Dad is so mad" LOL If I had a nickle for every time I heard that line!
We need every story this gentleman has !!! Makes me feel like I was there.. Brilliant!!! ❤
The ambulance was such a great idea!!!!!
Love to hear Bill tell about car stories, would love to just sit with him and listen to all the stories... Amazing person indeed
As Sam Hard would say - legend.
John Buffum is a living legend. Glad I got to meet him.
I’m so glad to see Bill Warner on VINwiki! Hoping there’ll be more stories to come!
Been looking forward to this!
I love these old stories. Keep 'em coming Ed.
I fuckin love this guy, jesus christ what a badass
Awesome video VINwiki! I just ordered my first Vincero watch. Thanks for the great content!
This is what legends are made of.
"24 minutes of Jacksonville"...... LoL😂😂
Always enjoy when this man (Bill) speaks...
Great story teller and full of expert knowledge.
Fantastic story. Love these.
Please we need more stories from this legend
Man I love listening to your stories!!!! Another amazing story telling.
It’s awesome to see these guys getting a proper platform and spotlight to tell their war stories.
ed i dont know how you find these truly fascinating people! love the content
"Don't come home" if I had a nickel for every time I've been told that
Now that's a storyteller right there! Amazing insight
The motorhome? It's a Dodge Travco 270 ( The Dodge Mahal!)and they had it up to about 105-110 mph. Awesome vintage motorhome, very well built
You have to love any story where legendary names are mentioned (such as the winningest rally driver/co-driver that America has ever offered up to the world... and to this day still the only American to ever win a European rally) and they’re just breezed over as “another Porsche that turned out to be John Buffum and his wife Vicki”. These are stories that matter to the racing world and I personally want to thank VINwiki for realizing the need for them to be documented and catalogued so that they can be passed down through the ages.
Ed, I love your videos. Pretty much all of them. I really love these cannonball vids. What a shame if these incredibly cool stories weren't told. Thanks.
Great story well told!!
Love hearing the og stories you know shit was alot less stressful back then but more fun and more challenging
Love it!. Now we need an updated tour of the 911 please!
Such a great story. I'm so envious of those guys. They were really living back then
Gotta be one of my favourite stories on this channel
" I think the statute of limitations has run out" ...LMAO. Awesome
" I think the statutes of limitation have passed on that by now" hahaha classic!
Awesome story! I would love to hear more from bill!
We need more stories from Bill. That was excellent.
Love these Cannonball stories. Just a trip back in time to when there wasn't a lot of traffic.
Bill, thank you for the short ride in your new 2020 Corvette! 25th Anniversary was a Great Event, and I have 3 Videos up on my youtube channel!
Fuzzbuster was named one of Time magazine’s “All-Time 100 Gadgets” in 2010, in its day it worked!
Great story. One of my favorites
I enjoy all the stories. If you can you need to find more gentlemen like him. CB radio old radar detector. Love it. Keep them coming 😊👍🏻🚗
Ed, you guys find the BEST stories!!!
He is an Og cannonballer right there. Reminds me of my dad and some of his old car stories and shenanigans he used to pull with Jonny law lol. Awesome story and amazing guy to tell it.
Yeah, This a a "real" VINwiki story! Love it! Love that Dino!
Palm Springs to Banning is brutal with those planes, I got mine reduced because the officer in the plane couldn’t calculate the Knots to MPH
Great storyteller. Great story - Dun, Dun, Dun....I am, Captain Chaos!!!
Wow! Now that is great story. This should have 10x the views.
Really enjoyed this story. He must have some more.
loved this story, definitely legendary
VINwiki has become more than a showcase of great automobilia..it has literally transformed into a MUSEUM OF AUTOMOTIVE IMPORTANCE. Congratulations Ed, you have no idea what you have done.
Seeing Bill tell his story is like watching a person who does not give a damn! Brilliant way to end it "I guess hell get over it" 😂
Thanks Ed for a VinWiki.
And he still has the car... new hero added to my list today! His name is Bill! Thanks vinwiki!
This is a vibe right here
YES we need ALOT MORE stories from Bill !!! A true gentleman with class & dignity. (plus he's honest about Ferrari LOL )
Vampirebear13 agree. ‘A LOT’ MORE.
Really cool story. I want to hear more about his other cars!
Good morning, have a great Tuesday!
I am blown away.
My father worked for Tom Nehl Trucking for decades, up to his retirement. He knew Tom as well.
Never once told me any of this stuff!
amazing story
*this guy is a fuccing G, super cool!!! need more dudes like this these day thats for sure!!*
We need more story’s from Bill
Great video
Great clip
Awesome story. 👍🏻
Bill Warner is a legend.
Great story! I love the fact that he still has the car.
DUUNN DUUNN DUUUUUUNNNNN.....now we know who HE is!
Hey guys! I wanna get that cannonball shirt and I can’t find where to buy it!!!!
I remember reading about this guy in the cannon ball book!
That might be
My favorite book....I dont know how many times I've reread it
Great addition to VINwiki! Bill's easy going style along with knowing the details just makes it all the more engaging. Any chance that Jack May might be willing to chat about his Dino victory of that year? His website has the article republished from Car Collector (Dec 1981) of their record setting time: www.cannonballdino.com/cannonball
Wow he still owns the car. This guy is a legend
I love his self-control with his vulgarity at 1:42 when he said, "I thought he was bul.... pulling my leg." LOL
Long Live Bill! I'm so glad his kids convinced him not to sell his 911. Huge piece of family history, considering you ran the cannonball in that!
His Porsche is one of the few cannonball cars still known.
I’d love to meet this man this is bad ass I enjoy these story’s
So I told the guy, that’s not my Pitbull, that’s my wife.
*theme music starts* “vinwiki car stories”
I haven't heard fuzz buster since I was a kid in the 80's. I love the stories from the more fine, aged vintage of the car world.
Hell I still call them that
I love hearing these stories from a guy closer to my age. It just resonates with me.
“I don’t care it’s my car”
Very cool story. :)
To those with the habitual speeding disease like, probably all of us, my best line in the last year has been " Beautiful day for a warning isn't it?"
Of the three times I was pulled over in the last two years it has worked twice.
I was at least fifteen over.
Amazing story, back when Men were tough as nails and just made it happen no matter what 👍🏁👽👻🏁. Thank you guys for sharing that. Super fun!
Very cool to hear his stories from 1975; I wonder if getting fuel was an issue during that time period?
Pedal2Metal As I recall fuel was back to normal after the prices had almost tripled. Funny how that worked.
@@TheCannonball79 During the Carter fuel embargo, it was an "even/odd days" fuel lottery... based on your licence plate #s
Major pain in the butt.. I was once stuck 200 miles from home base due to piss poor planing.. lol
That started just after the 79 Cannonball. In 73 it was odd even. But I had plates that were odd and even so I switched them as needed. Plus in 73 I busted my local Mobile dealer hoarding gas at an abandoned gas station so he told me I could have as much as I wanted whenever I needed it.
They had the perfect time..
This is bad ass
The first captain marvel. Cool story
I’ve thought about running in the cannonball run but my ass hurt when I sit too long.
Hey let's do a Halifax to Vancouver cannon fodder run
Is it just me or did the opening music sound slower than normal?
Do a video on his car !
One of my heroes. A-w-e-s-o-m-e.
