- Sadly,while at free practice for this event,Japanese rider,Iwao Ishikawa (Suzuki) lost his life after a collision with Italian rider,Loris Reggiani (Suzuki),On the downward section after the Dunlop Bridge.Then in the race five days later on the fifth lap,Swiss rider Michel Frutschi (Honda) lost his life after a collision with a Catchfence Pole,as you can see around the circuit,behind the yellow foam blocks

Left school in the Summer of 1983. Had always been a big KR fan and remember this as the greatest season ever. Great battle right until the last round at Imola. (Watched the last round in an electrical shop selling television sets as I was on holiday at the time!)
5 days, 2 dead riders... I've never seen any footage on the crashes. Thanks for the video! I began to watch WGP races late in the 80's, so this clip is somewhat precious.
Sad GP, many heavy crash and two dead, an little japanese raced send here by the usine and Michel Frutschi the last winner of 1982 GP in Nogaro.

Why did kenny use 18 inch front wheel the rest were using 16 inch wheel.
I think Kenny uses Dunlop .
He did use Dunlop tyres but front wheel size was 17 inch not 18 inch. He did use 16 inch front in 1981 when using Good year tyres but not sure why size changed other than possibly due to new bike specifications. 1983 model was an OW70 and frame design was different. First deltabox I think.
