Your recipe looks simple. I tried making this with a different recipe, made a huge mess in the kitchen and the balls didn’t even turn out. It was pretty sad because it’s time consuming.
When you are forming the dough around the filling, you need to make sure there is no air trapped between the filling and the dough. Any air pocket present will grow and explode due to steam build up as the sesame balls cook.

Dun worry if you say roll it with your palm, people usually relate it with the ones in your hand.
