    that's wonderful, thank you! Very interesting how aeroplanes of this late 'thirties vintage go about flying. I've seen a video of a Blenheim in New Zealand. The same sort of comfortable thrum of the motors, the wind noise, the whole feeling is that the craft is very happy in the air, very friendly. People think 'antiquated' or 'primitive' but they were actually very good at their job. Superb to see them alive and well!

      Those are handles to adjust tension on the rudder pedals to help the pilot in an engine out scenario. It is basically rudder trim so they don't have to hold the rudder in an engine out.

    There are so many checks that they actually don't have time to fly anymore! Now imagine this sort of plane at -40°C diving into Stalingrad under Russian Flak fire and enemy fighters lurking around. You don't know if the damp layer is resting on the ground or if there are a few dozen meters of clear view between the ground and the mist layer. And if that's not already enough you have to search for burning cross check marks in an already burning town!

    A little more from the pilot’s sight line - perspective and less of the throttle quadrant would be nice, especially on landing...

      According to me, what I meant was the older pilots are much more skilled than new generation of pilots.
      Because older guys really "hand flew" the aircraft more when comparing the new generation pilots who was thought in a simulator and has extensive habit of relying on autopilot.
      Most of the veterans pilots are highly skilled. Hats off to them.

    This was awesome... Watching this kind of videos always makes me wish to get into pilots school. To at least learn to fly a cesna or something..
    Am I too old for learning to fly a plane ( 33 ) ..also how expensive is that in long term ? Prohibitively expensive.. or in the medium range ( like an expensive hobby.. but you dont have to be millionare for it ) ?

    • @Jonay1990
      @Jonay1990 5 років тому

      no way are you too old to learn, to hire an aircraft from a school and learn, to get a full private licence (PPL) you're looking around 7000, to carry on and keep yourself current/safe, you're looking like 200/month

    • @Warbirds
      @Warbirds  5 років тому +1

      Not to old for this if your of good health and brain. The Licences costs from like 7000 to 10000 € depends where you do it. Flying a Cessna costs from 120€ / hours to 200€ / hour plus landing and parking fee also depending where you life. so if you got spare 500€ per month it is affordable

      @@Warbirds mmm, no I don't think so. There was a charter service in and around the Swiss Alps which would take passengers on loops. I can't remember the name of the company but it was repainted in bright colours with a sponsor. I'll try and find the article and send once doing so. I hope so too though, these are beautiful planes and it would be a shame to see them all disappear.
