  • As our baby-boomer adults are ageing, the need for healthcare is on the rise and with it, a need for licensed practical nurses. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the needed number of LPNs is expected to grow sixteen percent by the year 2024. Mainly due to retirement of current nurses but also because the number of baby-boomers needing care, as well as, the number of chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity that are becoming more prevalent. Now you might ask, what about RNs? Is there even a difference between LPNs and RNs? The answer is yes. Even though they work in the same realm, they are two separate entities that have their own areas of expertise. The LPN is trained to be the bedside nurse with the focus on caring for the patient.
