On mixing cardio and strength training, I used to fall victim to that as well, chasing the feeling but not seeing the results I wanted. But I believe Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec hits the nail on the head and puts it best: “Never half-ass two things. Whole-ass ONE thing.”
I had to limit my hiit cardio to 2 days per week. I used to do 5 days a week and I don’t know why I was so stupid to think that 😂 I started to listen to my body because my Achilles heel started to hurt really bad. I now do strength training 3 days a week. And I saw an INSTANT change in my body!! Thanks Eric!!
Hi how do you do you 3 days of strength do you split lower upper full ..im looking todo less cardio and get my strength in there more to loose weight tone .. i usally use youtube ones but not sire as he said reps and set and up each week then weight each month ?
Hella good wisdom in this one - coming from a woman's perspective in this society we are heavily "influenced" to work to death in cardio/hiit. It was a mind warp when first working with you, but now I'll never go back!
Omg I always thought I had to do cardio after a workout cause other trainers would say that, now I can work my schedule better and not over think my schedule to fit cardio in my workout
Does strength training always have to be progressive? Should the goal be to build muscle rather than maintain muscle density? Going to the gym is unsustainable for me, and buying weight sets for home can become costly very quickly. I'm trying to figure out a sustainable way to do strength training without needing a lot of equipment to facilitate progressive overload. Thank you for the great videos!
Your goal is up to you! If you don’t want to create a certain physique, that’s up to you! I would strongly encourage you to work in some sorts of strength training to improve and sustain the quality of your life with bone density, insulin sensitivity, core strength, joint health, etc.
I am mother of 2 and do not have access to gym. I started working out using Apple fitness. That program has strength training so do you recommended following that? So far I’ve lost some weight but now ive learned by your videos that only cardio is not the answer. Thanks so much ! Love your videos
I usually do strength training first then 25 minutes of cardio whether that will be treadmill or stairs. I manage still lift heavy each week and hit a pb. Is that still okay?
so when Im doing strength training I shouldn't really worry about calories? If so, how long should I strength train for? (time wise) ps, love all your videos on here and tik tok :)
I am a bit confused about number 3 with the mixing cardio and strength training. My personal trainer has me doing 30 mins of cardio then I do my sets on the machines (dips, row, leg press, etc). Is this considered "mixing"?
Please i need help and a answer for this lol Hi how do you do you 3 days of strength do you split lower upper full ..im looking todo less cardio and get my strength in there more to loose weight tone .. i usally use youtube ones but not sire as he said reps and set and up each week then weight each month
So I run 35-40 miles a week. I run half marathons for fun. How does this cardio affect my calorie deficit? I’m 5’2” and I’m 132 lb trying to get to 125 lb. I’m doing your metabolic workouts 3-4x/week. Following all your formulas, my calories should be 1500 cal if doing nothing, but I’m doing all that mileage. I’ve been trying to eat 1800 lb and some days I’m still hungry depending on the intensity of the runs (speed work and such).
This makes me so happy! I’ve been beating myself up for not doing more elliptical days (I do 3-4, but started to do less bc i prefer strength training). I started trying to do it before or after strength training, but could barely get through it bc my legs were shot. Now I can give myself permission to do the elliptical 2-3x a week and push my strength training (which is my happy place, for some weird reason I’ve never figured out) 3x/week.
Can anyone answer this? I'm currently 204, 5'9 and female. I'm eating 1200-1500 cal a day (at least 100g-150g of protein) and I'm outside playing basketball for a minimum of 3 hours for 5 days a week. I do this because it's the only fun exercise for me. Is this too much, or enough? Should I weight train? And most importantly, could I hit the 170s by October?
I did MMA recreationally as a teenager. I'd say for MMA just do muay thai or boxing (even on a bag) for cardio. The sport IS the cardio, and doing the extra cardio for 1.5hr is going to leave you less energy to work with while sparring and training because that energy was used on the treadmill. I'm not a trainer or a professional, but that was my experience.
Hii very informative video ... I have one question I am doing 7k steps every day and strength training 3times a week and I am in deficit eating around 1800 calorie and I lost around 16+pounds in four months but from last one half month I lost nothing nor inches soo what should I include ..please answer me
hi, i’m 5’2” and 108lbs. ive been tracking and i’m certain i’m eating ~1800 calories a day and burning ~1000 cals through 3ish hours of exercise a day. however ive plateaued; i can’t lose weight/fat and i feel tired, stressed, and bloated. what should i do ? i feel like i’m overexercising but can that lead to a plateau/difficulty in fat loss ?
Literally jump rope to one song sometimes after my workouts: if I feel like it. Calorie deficit + strength training & im down 64 pounds since January.
Let’s goooo ;)
That’s awesome!!
How often do you do strength training and how long? How much weight?
@@Rach113 I workout 4x week. I follow Eric’s workout guide. I do it consistent for 1 month, increasing by rep then weight

Bro I feel u I do 5 miles of jogging every day 7 days a week and my Achilles hurts a couple days a week
Great information. Thank you for sharing.

Resistance bands and an exercise ball can be great starting tools! 😊
You could try calisthenics

I am not 100% sure of the program but I have multiple videos on here of how to create a strength training program! Look through some of them :)
I was doing too much cardio trying to keep my leaness and it back fired on me. I’m going back to the drawing board. 👍

I going to do Cardio fasted in AM and strength training in afternoon because I'm tired of the weight fluctuating up and down...
that isn't going to solve your problems. Look closer at your nutrition.

You can chase that feeling by chasing a squirrel down the street 😂🤣
Two questions...
How many rest days should you have per week?
Can you do a video about how strength training helps weight loss.
Thanks
1-4 rest days, I have done multiple videos on that if you scroll through my videos :)

So if I’m using iFit, with a trainer leading the elliptical controls into resistance/incline intervals, is that strength training or cardio?
Cardio

What if im training mma and I want to build stamina? Is it bad that I do about 1 hour and a half of cardio?

I did an entire video on skinny fat on my channel
You forgot to mention that cardio releases endorphins which makes one feel great. It's kind of a high.

108 should be a good weight for your height. Might even be on the low end.
Dang! I’m 5’2” and I want to get 125 lb to be in the middle of the BMI. 108 lb might be at a good healthy/weight :)
This is an eating disorder
