One major memory about this movie was how Charlie's sister was on stand by, knowing a regression from Charlie was not a matter of if, but when. Her reaction was immediate and probably rehearsed in her head over and over. This was something that was always with her no matter where she was or what she was doing. It is going to happen and she was always ready. The idea of her constant dread and fear is mind blowing. I can only compare it to having a parent with a heart condition, and the child is constantly worrying and vigilant.
its really too bad that they cut all the scenes of Charlie and her bonding together dealing with her abortion. It really drives home how close they became
Her voice cracking up when Charlie hangs up 😭 Really wish they didn’t selete the scenes with her and Charlie, would have shown how much close they actually are.
There's a great deleted scene during his isolation from the friend group where his sister finds out she's pregnant by Ponytail Derek and she gets an abortion with Charlie's help. Shame they cut it to avoid an R rating, it reallly established their relationship.
The truth about Aunt Helen is even more messed up in the book, cause he frequently calls her his favorite aunt, has you 100% convinced that she was one of his personal champions, and her death was just another thing he blamed himself for. And then we find out the truth. He wasn't just keeping it from everyone else. He was keeping it from himself.
I think I remember reading something in relation to this movie about how some family predators will give extra presents and slightly special attention, both as a form of "apology" and also to keep them quiet. Then Charlie says Aunt Helen basically used to do that with him and it just hits so much harder. And especially since the parents had no idea

I was 17 and finishing high school when I read the book, and I was imature to understand everything about Charlie but I remember vividly almost crying while I read this in school.
@@Brenooomaniezo I read it around the same time, although I sadly understood the subject matter all too well. My trauma started early. This book/film is the closest depiction of my actual teen experience, and the people who were my friends and peers, that I've seen up to this point (I graduated high school in '86). Hit very close to the bone in too many respects, but rather than dragging me into self-indulgent melancholy it made me glad to know some things are universal and most of us survive them.
This is one of my favorite films of all time! The 1st time I watched it, was a rough night for me, to say the least. I related to too many of the characters, to put it mildly. I eventually showed it to my dad, who is rather picky with what films he likes and he loved it too. He used to not share much about his past with us but when we watched this film together. It was the 1st time he actually started sharing with us what his childhood was like.
Just started this and had to pause to define “wallflower” for you guys. Back in the old days… at least early 1800… probably before. Women had to wait to be asked to dance. So they’d be all dressed up pretty and standing against the wall together if no one asked. Some ladies could stand there through multiple dances… sometimes the entire season… if you never got asked, you eventually become a spinster and never marry and that was the worst possible outcome for your life (back then) so getting asked to dance was a step towards being popular, being courted… eventually getting married. Not getting asked to dance was essentially the death of all that. So being called a wallflower is one of the worst insults. Especially because usually it was kinda true. And if you were known as a wallflower… chances are guys would think something was wrong with you and it would be even more unlikely that they’d ask you to dance.
Love this movie! I think Logan Lerman (Charlie) has the potential to be one of the great actors of his generation! I'm predicting an Oscar nomination for him within the next 5-7 years!! You read it here first! Keep up the great reactions guys, Love your channel.

One of my favorite coming-of-age movies, but is hard to watch at times because I know someone that was abused in this exact manner. My favorite is The Way Way Back with Sam Rockwell, Steve Carell and some other big names. There is only one or two reactions on here of it, even though it has an 84/84 on RT. Can't wait to see how y'all like this movie.
I love that movie. Great acting, especially from Sam Rockwell. Steve Carrell was scarily believable as an abusive insensitive sh... So many kids go through that situation: single mom with a totally abusive boyfriend.
Wow! I didn't expect that ! What a great movie, Ezra Miller is THE revelation of this film ! That's not a simple teenage movie, it's a charge of emotions that deals with painful subjects, repressed memories and which has always affected us and we didn't understand it... Great job guys ! :)
I was thrilled to see ya'll react to this movie! It's one of my favorite films. My high school experience was just like this- from the music to the fact that Rocky Horror Picture Show was a thing among my group of friends. We were like "the island of misfit toys" and we were happy about it. 😊
I love this movie so much. It has so many great lines, so much that people could learn from, and so much harsh truth and reality for what it's like for some people. There's so much that people of all walks can relate to in one way or another. It's so well written, acted, directed, and it just takes you for a ride emotionally. I love this movie so much. More people need to see this movie and learn from it. People really need to learn from this movie, for many reasons in many directions..... My favourite scene, was in the hospital where he mentioned the pain. Though that's probably because it hit home quite hard, I've always felt emotions from others, from thoughts, from movies, from things that aren't me or mine. And feeling the pain like he described, it's something you don't really understand unless you've been there. Empathy is a good thing for people to have, but when people are more an empath it can be overwhelming, extremely confusing and very hard to deal with. I don't know why I felt the need to share this part. I guess I just wish people were more aware of how others can struggle with things like that, how they can be affected by the things and people around them, and learn to understand them better.
I did not even notice the freezing during intimate moments. Damn that is such a good observation in my second watch thru I wept even more. This movie is awesomely done. Inspired so many people to come to terms with confronting their SA they endured. Certainly helped me confronted mine
In the book, there is a main theme in everything Charlie experiences. It's not highlighted in the movie as much, but it's the circle of trauma and specifically intergenerational trauma in families. Charlie's dad is an example of "breaking out" from the vicious circle, as he was physically abused in childhood and swore to never do anything like that. Aunt Helen is an example of continuing the truma, because she herself was a victim of similar events in childhood. If I remember correctly Charlie's best friend once said to him that "a person can either be a sponge or a filter" and it just explains everythig perfectly.
9:06 -so they had him actually slap her (stunt double) in this scene , it broke the actor. He talks about sitting out on the curb afterward with a bottle of warm rose wine, reflecting on his life decisions.
I LOVE this movie and this reaction is great guys! This movie is so good and the writing was amazing it's credit to having the author of the book be the director the actors killed it and its so immersive
This was such a wholesome video. This movie makes me so sad because I watch from Charlie's pov holding my breath. This video reminded me how funny this movie is and the good experiences Charlie experiences.
Absolutely love the tapir shirt!! Years ago, the very first thing you saw when you entered the National Zoo in D.C. was a big sign that said, "Consider the Tapir." They took it out when they renovated the zoo and moved the tapir enclosure, but it was always one of my favorite things growing up and I still miss it.
Wow, rare for people to react to this movie. I remember randomly watching it years ago because of Logan. Was a fan of him pretty early. Didnt even know Emma Watson was in. Loved it myself.

I remember seeing this movie a few years ago, I thought it was really good. For another little known but excellent movie I will once again recommend The Station Agent (2003).
I’ve loved this movie since it’s release!!! I’ve loved Paul Tudds line so much it hits me deeply everyday!!! This movie is so good despite Ezra millers current incidents. This movies story is just so amazing and the fight scene is my favorite part. He finally got some release too. The movie related to my mental health so much and I will always value this movie highly
Damn, when you commented about his best friend Micheal shooting himself with god damn, that’s why he’s weird/that explains a lot. Actually hit me personally l. I’m glad I watched this reaction. Keep up the great work. You guys are great.
Hey, you know another good movie with Logan Lerman? Stuck In Love. And it's kinda Thanksgiving-y, if you want a film to watch for that particular holiday. There are so few. 😑
I saw this movie and loved it so much I immediately watched it again. I've never done that with another movie. Then I noticed that the director wrote the book it was based on I immediately downloaded the book and read it.
One of my all time favorite books and this movie was great! So glad to see you react to it! Logan Lerman is such an underrated actor. Hes awesome in the war movie Fury.
I’m from the Pittsburgh area and loved how they incorporated the city and the Pgh culture into the film! “Wonder Boys” is another amazing movie filmed in Pittsburgh. One of my all-time favorites.
Loved this movie! They filmed it in my town of Pittsburgh, PA. We always loved going through the tunnel and it was great to see how they displayed it in the film. Also, we love the theatre where they performed Rocky Horror Picture Show. 🤘😎🤘
Love this movie because I was like Charlie except more weird and an more of an outcast, even with the other outcasts at local concerts, I was in the background and not many even tried to be friends with me
I forgot to mention… since you liked this film, you’ll definitely like “Wonder Boys” with Michael Douglas and Tobey McGuire. It was also filmed in Pittsburgh.
This is both my comfort movie and also a movie I have to be in a good head space to watch. I relate too heavily to what happened to Charlie with his aunt that although I love the movie and book, I need to be mentally okay to watch or read it.
This is my all-time favorite book so I was overjoyed they were going to make it into a movie. I don’t love the movie as much as the book (just the format of it works so much better in book form) but I do love it!
Ya'll should react to where the wild things are, labyrinth, the devils rejects, the girl down the lane, the end of the world 2012 bro they r so good. :D
This movie is based on my all-time favorite book. Overall, it’s a very good adaptation; however, nothing compares to reading the book with the way Charlie expresses himself (and they cut the best scene out of the movie). Go read the book when y’all can!

So Charlie felt so bad about his aunt because he felt that he caused it. He knew what she was secretly doing to him, and probably wished her dead. Then she dies, in a car accident getting HIM a toy... So he just always felt like he was the one to blame for her death, and EVERYBODY loved her, because no one knew what she was doing to Charlie the entire time...
In my opinion, there is no world actress more beautiful, cute and sweeter than Emma Watson and will not be born in this century. I adore her, because it's an eye balm ☺❤

In the book, the food place they went to hang out wasn't King's. It was Bob's Big Boy.
In the book Charlie there’s a poem that’s really good!
Once on a yellow piece of paper with green lines
he wrote a poem
and he called it "chops"
because that was the name of his dog
and thats what it was all about
his teacher gave him an A
and a gold star
and his mother hung it on the kitchen door
and read it to his aunts.
that was the year Father Tracy
took all the kids to the zoo
and he let them sing on the bus
and his little sister was born
with tiny nails and no hair
and his mother and father kissed a lot
and the girl around the corner sent him a
Valentine signed with a row of X's
and he had to ask his father what the X's meant
and his father always tucked him in bed at night
and was always there to do it
once on a piece of white paper with blue lines
he wrote a poem
he called it "Autumn"
because that was the name of the season
and that's what it was all about
and his teacher gave him an A
and asked him to write more clearly
and his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because of the new paint
and the kids told him
that Father Tracy smoked cigars
and left butts on the pews
and sometime they would burn holes
that was the year his sister got glasses
with thick lenses and black frames
and the girl around the corner laughed
when he asked her to go see santaclaus
and the kids told him why
his mother and father kissed a lot
and his father never tucked him in bed at night
and his father got mad
when he cried for him to do it
once on a paper torn from his notebook
he wrote a poem
and he called it "Innocence: A Question"
because that was the question about his girl
and thats what it was all about
and his professor gave him an A
and a strange steady look
and his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
because he never showed her
that was the year Father Tracy died
and he forgot how the end
of the Apostles's Creed went
and he caught his sister
making out on the back porch
and his mother and father never kissed
or even talked
and the girl around the corner
wore too much make up
that made him cough when he kissed her
but he kissed her anyway
because it was the thing to do
and at 3 am he tucked himself into bed
his father snoring soundly
that's why on the back of a brown paper bag
he tried another poem
and he called it "Absolutely Nothing"
because that's what it was really all about
and he gave himself an A
and a slash on each damned wrist
and he hung it on the bathroom door
because this time he didn't think
he could reach the kitchen
that cancer line was brutal but I respect honesty
I remember seeing this movie a few years ago, I thought it was really good.
For another little known but excellent movie I will once again recommend The Station Agent (2003).
Yes! I love the Station Agent.
You guys might like Garden State and The Fault in Our Stars.
I second “Garden State”! Great movie!
Gem of a flick. Just well done. Emma Watson reminds me of Ally Sheedy it's spooky but golden.
i’ve had a horrible day and this is my favorite movie so thank you for watching this and making my day slightly better
This is your best reaction so far.
I ain’t quitting 😅: you guys should watch “Scent of a Woman”, you’re gonna love it
This one of the best movie i ever watched in my life and im happy that you guy's watch it and react to it thank you ❤
filmed in Pittsburgh. the diner they were in actually had a sign saying the actors from this movie sat here, sadly the diner closed.
Yes my favorite so proud you guys watched it! Thank you for all you do!
We accept the love we think we deserve. That's really powerfull, i relate a lot to this quote
One of my all-time favorite movies! Thanks for reacting.
This is a good movie
Please react to "The Way Way Back" with Steve Carell next! You guys will love it.
severely underrated movie. one of the best coming of age movies out there.
Ahh i always cry every time I watch this movie 😅😭 love the reaction!
This is both my comfort movie and also a movie I have to be in a good head space to watch. I relate too heavily to what happened to Charlie with his aunt that although I love the movie and book, I need to be mentally okay to watch or read it.
Everyone needs a Sam and Patrick in their life.
My favorite movie! It honestly changed me for the best
This is my all-time favorite book so I was overjoyed they were going to make it into a movie. I don’t love the movie as much as the book (just the format of it works so much better in book form) but I do love it!
Oh my goodness I've been waiting for this!!! 😭
Ya'll should react to where the wild things are, labyrinth, the devils rejects, the girl down the lane, the end of the world 2012 bro they r so good. :D
I was a bit of a wall flower back in middle school and half way through high school. Great movie
Are you guys ever gonna get back to Daniel Craig’s 007 films? I know Quantum of Solace wasn’t that good but the remaining 3 are 🔥
This movie is based on my all-time favorite book.
Love this movie so freakin' much! Loved both your reactions as well.
This is my favorite movie guys nice timing I got nothing to do
So manyyyy great actors in this movie. I need to re watch it has been a few years
Literally all of our reactions to the Truth or Dare scene lol
U should give Me, Earl, and The Dying Girl a shot.
In my opinion, there is no world actress more beautiful, cute and sweeter than Emma Watson and will not be born in this century. I adore her, because it's an eye balm ☺❤
I love this film, which feels weird to say being as dark as it is.
I love this movie. Very very relatable to myself🤟🏻Awesome reactions! 💚
God i love this movie. It's my favorite comfort movie and watching your reaction to it was awesome! 🫶🏽
Great Great Movie
Great movie. Long before Ezra Miller lost their mind.
I can't think of Ezra without remembering this movie and mourning how far they've(?) fallen. They just seemed so nice and chill [here]-- I know it's acting, but still.
Great reaction.
the reaction to the name robert😂
