Crazy Taxi’s imitators never really understood that it wasn’t just the mechanics, it was also the vibes. The way passengers talked to you, the soundtrack, the design of the cars, the drivers’ personalities, etc. all added up to a really singular experience. A lot of the imitators assumed that what was fun about Crazy Taxi was driving people around, but it wasn’t - it was the whole experience. It’s a relic of its time, an icon of gaming, and also apparently has some racist ass character design for BD Joe that 6 year old me did not pick up on bc what the fuck how did I never see that

The first time I saw Crazy Taxi was in a furniture store on a PS2, just to be part of a children's room display. It was playable and it was lovely. Flash forward to about 20 years later, I volunteered at a one-day gaming convention where Crazy Taxi was one of the few and hotly competitive tournaments for the high score, on the Dreamcast. So glad people still care for this game , and I care about Noodle for fun videos and quirky drawings :)

I jumped that bridge a long time ago, I definitely prefer those cardboard animations to (for exemple) his last animation on nfs, which felt completely soulless and had no personnality imo (maybe because of all the animators involved)

Hear me out: We need people as dedicated as the Mania team working on a remastered version of Crazy Taxi: High Roller. The original PC port is tolerable but with polish and people that care (and easier means to get it) it could be the best version of Crazy Taxi

I spent so many countless hours playing Crazy Taxi with my siblings as a kid, and also searching out the Crazy Taxi machines every time we went to the arcade lol. I actually remember liking Simpsons: Road Rage as well but nothing beat Crazy Taxi, it had the perfect formula and I miss it :')

Dude, there was this old game on the PS2 I’d play as a kid called “Smuggler’s Run.” It was definitely one hell of a car game. I very much recommend.

I spent so many countless hours playing Crazy Taxi with my siblings as a kid, and also searching out the Crazy Taxi machines every time we went to the arcade lol.
I actually remember liking Simpsons: Road Rage as well but nothing beat Crazy Taxi, it had the perfect formula and I miss it :')
