Sorry, shocks do not apply any downward force. The spring does. The shock damps (not dampens) or slows the energy, both compression & rebound.

I use SenSen shocks. They work great for me. I have two for sale brand new in the box right now for the front of a 2005 to 2014 Nissan pickup or 2009 to 2012 Suzuki Equator pickup. Got rid of truck before installing them. Thought I was watching Goonz squad for a minute ? OEM

I've had better luck with sensen shocks then Monroe and Gabriel which both cost double to triple price. A lot of times the sensen are less then 20 on Rock Auto. they are manufactured in china but use Japanese nok seals .. I even ran them on a Civic with ground control coil overs that was dumped and they never leaked and got more miles out of them then tokiko blues which were 5x the price!
