Oh My... The 30th and 31st are my Saturday and Sunday and for those two days don't call, don't text, don't even think of me because I will only be existing in the DCS World Realm flying my F-18 Over Dubai and the rest of The Persian Gulf. Thanks Wags and ED, your the BEST!
Here from the Fighter Pilot Podcast, thank you for the excellent tutorials! I'll be on DCS soon (used to fly the Frogfoot but just not laptop friendly. Finally have a gaming rig) Totally using your tutorials for the VRS Superbug for now
How come I cant get the impact line to go down at the dive angle you can? You were at 25 degree dive angle and 6000 ft altitude when your impact cross came up. I cant replicate that on my end?? using mk 82's
So odd having a cross as the CCIP impact point, especially when there's a horizontal line coming down through the vertical one, already making a cross. The F-16 circle CCIP icon makes it much more intuitive, besides also delaying the drop point when the icon is out of view below the HUD, automatically turning it into a CCRP kind of mode (a feature the F/A-18 doesn't appear to have, right?)
when training unguided bombing i faced an annoying issue pleas i wish u can help me with it when i release one bomb from a one side the jet starts to roll towards the other side bcuz of the weigh ... i tried to trim it using the default keys ctrl + "; / , / . /" .. but it's now moving to wards the empty wing ... so is there an indicator i can trim the plane right with it ? .. and as i remember in some videos there's a kind of mini map of the jet controls appears on the corner how to activate it ?
Matt that was in my own personal opinion indeed the deepest into systems and sensors I have seen. I think I am going to be enjoying bombing runs in the early access and it was exciting to watch. I noticed after release of bombs, the hornet is several miles from the target and that is a good standoff distance to steer clear of artillery guns and man-pads. Can we do bomb lofting with this hornet as in the F-16
wondering why i can only drop bombs at about 200ft. for some reason i cannot get the weapons release cross to show up like in the video at a higher altitude. what am i configuring incorrectly?
The bomb multi/internal setting is not working well in openbeta somehow. So for example, when I set QTY 8, MLT 1, and INT 50 Ft, it would only drop one bomb, and do nothing well. But if I set QTY 2 MLT 2 it seems to work as expected.
I having trouble with one thing and that is understanding TDC vs sensor control switch. In auto, they both seem to move the marker around but it doesn't move smooth at all. It's really jittery (when I first mark the target it doesn't stay in the same place) . I'm using the thumbs switches on my X56 throttle and joystick for each. Any ideas?
Is the MULT value a multiplier, like in the M2000C? I mean if you say QTY 4, MULT 2, will 8 bombs come off in 2 intervals, with 4 bombs each (that's what that does in the Mirage), or will 4 bombs come off in 2 intervals of 2?
@Matt Wagner, awesome video. So I just tried to use Auto mode from the HUD. I was able to set up an auto program and select the HUD with the sensor select. I was able to make the VV intersect with the Ball and Chain. Once I get them together I am not able to make them lock together so I can slew with TDC. Is there a button that you use to make them lock together or is it just supposed to happen when they intersect?
What's the point of having the ball and chain if it must be intercepted by the velocity vector to create a useful designator? Can the ball and chain be used when not bound to the velocity vector to designate a target?
I’m having problems with moving the TDC to the HUD while in auto and in A/G. As soon as I hit the sensor control hat it automatically switches to A/A. Aft goes to gun and forward goes to Aim 7 as per my sensor control set-up. Any suggestions what I’m doing wrong. I can’t find the ball and chain. How do you get it to stay in A/G?? Thanks all!
I have my quantity and my multiplier selected to 1 but still 2 and sometimes 3 bombs are falling off at once. Can somebody help me with that? Also the ccip mode predicts the rockeye wrong.
Why was it necessary to "bound" the velocity vector and the reticle? Was the reticle at or near a specific point on the ground? In both instance you seemed to turn into a target area before they were bound.
Hi Matt, thanks for all these excellent videos! A question... when I load weapons onto the F-18 with the ground crew, they don't show up on the stores page in the jet... I'm guessing I have to upload the data to the dsms but I don't know how.... any pointers? Many thanks!
You always have to tell the computer that what kind of bomb is it? Like nose fuze and free fall? Why don't the computer can't figure it out by itself from the type of the bomb? Or am i missing something
hey mr Matt .. i'm still about a month old in DCS .. i picked an f-16 free 14 days trail and it expired learned almost nothing 😁 i picked an f-18 also the free trail witch expires today.. and i can say compared to the f-16 i'm alot better .. learned some stuff
Hey Matt, on 13:08 you say that you press the "Deselect switch" so you can select new target position for Auto mode. What is the exact name of that switch in the DCS Controls?
Thomas Mallott I THINK (unsure, maybe someone can confirm) CCRP is the term for Air Force, while AUTO is for Navy, hence why the Warthog and the Viper use CCRP while Harrier and Hornet use AUTO
You said you used the "Castle Hat" switch to move the TDC to the HUD. What is the keyboard shortcut for that, or what is it called in the key command list? I do not have that joystick.
I have the Thrustmaster Hotas A-10C stick and throttle. Will there be a pre-configured download for this setup? If not will you be posting the best setup option for the F/A-18C
Hey Wags, is target altitude set at the time you make a waypoint into a target point? In other words: if your flight plan calls for an en route altitude of 15,000', what keeps you from bombing something 15,000' in the air?
It allows for level bombing, or (very) low altitude bombing with retarded bombs, like snake-eyes. You can be zipping trough valleys at treetop level, and still effectively bomb a target.
In the Early Access guide that will release with the software, we have the HOTAS layout. In the Options / Controls, we have a separate category for HOTAS that you can then very easily match your controls to based on the guide.
Hey Robert. I just wanted to say your su-25t videos are the reason I'm spending all my nights flying on DCS. You introduced me to this world. Thank you!
Hey guys, i just got my first f18 gifted from the us, not sure how to use it to fight these russians but this is super helpful. Question this obviously works in a real f18 right? I never got a key how do i turn this thing on? jkjk xDDD too soon i know.
I agree. The HUD symbology on the Hornet for me is more user-friendly and ergonomic. Not some so much to crack your head interpreting. My salute goes to you ED for implementing these tiny-witty symbologies.
I paid $80 for this module and this guy's tutorial (who is with eagle dynamics!) is "put the thing on the thing to make the other thing dead" !!! come on. I know I'm a newb to DCS, but that is what these videos are supposed to be for right?
Matt is like the Bob Ross of DCS. Blowing up those happy little targets. Don't drop just one bomb on them. Every bomb needs a friend.
OMG..I was thinking I was the ONLY one who noticed that!! ROFL
There are no targeting accidents, only happy explosions.
I'm glad someone with Xzibit as their profile photo posted this comment.
You "Intruction Videos" are consistently the clearest, without any extraneous information getting in the way. I know that's not easy. Thank you. Pete.
A little blue bundle of love!
It would be nice to have Your videos accessible directly from DCS GUI training page. Well done.
Good idea
Love it! Only a few days to go!!!
Thank you guys so much for all the hard work.
Oh My... The 30th and 31st are my Saturday and Sunday and for those two days don't call, don't text, don't even think of me because I will only be existing in the DCS World Realm flying my F-18 Over Dubai and the rest of The Persian Gulf. Thanks Wags and ED, your the BEST!
He he..."put the thing on the thing..." technically speaking of course.
Here from the Fighter Pilot Podcast, thank you for the excellent tutorials! I'll be on DCS soon (used to fly the Frogfoot but just not laptop friendly. Finally have a gaming rig) Totally using your tutorials for the VRS Superbug for now
So much to learn - keep these training videos coming. Only 2 more days!
AIM-7 vid coming today.
love these videos! cant wait for the release!
New F18 owner, needed on the fly lesson for DDCS server. Best DCS PvP server.
Looks like it'll also be possible to use auto mode for dive-toss & loft delivery profiles. Nice!
You can do a loft drop using existing AUTO, but later we'll add the specific sub-mode for this that provides the loft cue.
How come I cant get the impact line to go down at the dive angle you can? You were at 25 degree dive angle and 6000 ft altitude when your impact cross came up. I cant replicate that on my end??

Thank you. That helps a lot. Can't wait for guided bombs!
That CCRP mode using the hud as soi is going to be so handy to use.
Yes, but many folks will forget to assign TDC to HUD first.
and how do you assign TDC to HUD already ?
notproplayer 3 TDC up
sorry to bother you but I don't understand, I searched all buttons and none of them refer to the TDC
Well. At least I can rely on your videos to help me learn the hornet.
Can you just set a key bind?
"Put the thing on the thing, to make the latter thing dead", I don't know why, but this made my laugh my ass off!!
when training unguided bombing i faced an annoying issue pleas i wish u can help me with it

Going to get a loooot more deep. Yes, you can loft.
Waoo. As a study-sim enthusiasts, I like it way deep. Thanks.
The number in Auto that has an arrow pointing down, what angle is that displaying?
wondering why i can only drop bombs at about 200ft. for some reason i cannot get the weapons release cross to show up like in the video at a higher altitude. what am i configuring incorrectly?

Works okay here, rember to hold HOLD the weapon release button down for the entire duration of the program.
@@MattWagner Lots of thanks!

Hey Matt just a quick note the bombs you have on the imer are MK-76s or Bdu-33s same bomb just different designations
I know thanks
@Matt Wagner, awesome video. So I just tried to use Auto mode from the HUD. I was able to set up an auto program and select the HUD with the sensor select. I was able to make the VV intersect with the Ball and Chain. Once I get them together I am not able to make them lock together so I can slew with TDC. Make sure you are in a dive angle.
Ok, thanks for the quick reply.
What's the point of having the ball and chain if it must be intercepted by the velocity vector to create a useful designator? Can the ball and chain be used when not bound to the velocity vector to designate a target?
To designate while keeping nose at or above horizon... not lose altitude in attack.
Thanks all!
Sounds like you are pressing the weapon select switch, not the sensor select switch.
I have my quantity and my multiplier selected to 1 but still 2 and sometimes 3 bombs are falling off at once. Can somebody help me with that? Also the ccip mode predicts the rockeye wrong.
Bomb QTY is already fixed for next update.
Why was it necessary to "bound" the velocity vector and the reticle? Was the reticle at or near a specific point on the ground? In both instance you seemed to turn into a target area before they were bound.
It is not required, by preference and depends on attack profile.
Matt Wagner I noticed the reticle doesn't stay bound to the velocity vector. Is that normal? Or is a bug?
can you make a short video about the joystick controles?
Very cool, can you just use the reticle to get a target point using the hud or must you always combine it with the VV?
Thank you Matt, super vidéo, See you
Hi Matt, thanks for all these excellent videos! A question... when I load weapons onto the F-18 with the ground crew, they don't show up on the stores page in the jet... I'm guessing I have to upload the data to the dsms but I don't know how.... any pointers? Many thanks!
BritFlyer. Known bug
You always have to tell the computer that what kind of bomb is it? Like nose fuze and free fall? Why don't the computer can't figure it out by itself from the type of the bomb? Or am i missing something
Thanks for those colours!
hey mr Matt ..
i'm still about a month old in DCS .. i picked an f-16 free 14 days trail and it expired learned almost nothing 😁
i picked an f-18 also the free trail witch expires today.. and i can say compared to the f-16 i'm alot better .. learned some stuff
Awesome! Question: Will carrier ops be available for Hornet owners if they do not also own the new map that was released last week?
It will be available to ALL DCS users for free.
Fantastic, thank you.
Hey Matt, on 13:08 you say that you press the "Deselect switch" so you can select new target position for Auto mode. What is the exact name of that switch in the DCS Controls?
Undesignate button
Can you recommend a PC rig that will allow me to take advantage of all the DCS has to offer? (ie CPU, GPU, Memory, SSD)
Thanks!
Does the hornet go from CCIP to CCRP if you hold down the weapon release button in CCIP before the CCIP cross appears?
I'm a little confused about the difference between CCRP and Auto. Anyone?
As mentioned in the video, they are basically the same. Just different terms.
Sorry, must have missed that :/
Thomas Mallott I THINK (unsure, maybe someone can confirm) CCRP is the term for Air Force, while AUTO is for Navy, hence why the Warthog and the Viper use CCRP while Harrier and Hornet use AUTO
You said you used the "Castle Hat" switch to move the TDC to the HUD. What is the keyboard shortcut for that, or what is it called in the key command list? I do not have that joystick.
I figured it out. RAlt + ;
Castle Hat = Sensor Control Switch
How do you know If the bombs have gone
The Stores management page.
I have the Thrustmaster Hotas A-10C stick and throttle. Will there be a pre-configured download for this setup? If not will you be posting the best setup option for the F/A-18C
thanks for the info. To be honest I hope Thrustmaster makes an F/A-18C replica stick and throttle
You're not allowed to fly grunt, get back to sand bagging the OP.
they[thrustmaster+ED] already showed off the stick at a gamecon -not sure which- last year
Was E3
superhappyzeus so to activate this what do you do? Sync hotas inputs at sim start up in the options?
Great vid, Bomb Ross!!
So... is there a way to drop dumb bombs symmetrically?
Yes, no interval
So, I can drop 3 Mk82 from port wing and 3 Mk82 from starboard wing at the same time? Thanks for the response Matt.
Thanks fro the video Matt. Does the Auto mode account for wind in any way? is there a way to enter this data at all to improve accuracy in Auto mode?
Yes
what about the old bomb reticle that is in the glass top right corner. Is it functional? or is it just there?
That's for lining up your head correctly with the hud
?In auto mode, how do you move the TDC to the HUD
Up on Sensor Control Switch when in AG mode.
witch buttons uses you to bring the stick away and is it usable at all ???
Backspace
IStyxI you can also left click the „base“ of the stick
Loaded max MK83s, how do I get it to drop 1 bomb at a time?
Will be fixed in this week's update.
Matt Wagner Thank you for the quick reply. Great job to you and the team!
Care to share what specs PC you're using ? CPU/ Video card/RAM/SSD whole thing if you can.
Hey Wags, is target altitude set at the time you make a waypoint into a target point? In other words: if your flight plan calls for an en route altitude of 15,000', what keeps you from bombing something 15,000' in the air?
my guess is that it ignores any altitude setting and just references the lat/long.
What keeps you from bombing something 15000 ft in the air? Accuracy. Wind will have a pretty significant effect on that.
Just set your TGT waypoints to 0 ft AGL. Or, later, set up a separate sequence with just target locations.
Thank You Capt. Obvious...
That moving map tho!! 👍 👍 👌
What would be the point in using AUTO mode for unguided bombs?
No need for a dive so you can keep out of range of AAA fire.
It allows for level bombing, or (very) low altitude bombing with retarded bombs, like snake-eyes. You can be zipping trough valleys at treetop level, and still effectively bomb a target.
It would still be very ineffective at higher altitudes... thats why we use GBU's and such but i get what your saying
Hi Matt, any chance you could publish your Warthog button map?
In the Early Access guide that will release with the software, we have the HOTAS layout. In the Options / Controls, we have a separate category for HOTAS that you can then very easily match your controls to based on the guide.
Can you show me your DCS graphic setting?
Basically default HIGH
nice, beautiful movie~
Vista Suerte y al Toro! A11
Excellent
Thanks boss
why not ?
Little blue bundle of luuuvvv :3
"Put the thing on the thing to make the latter thing ded" - this is proper NATO terminology. hahaha
Hey Robert. I just wanted to say your su-25t videos are the reason I'm spending all my nights flying on DCS. You introduced me to this world. Thank you!
FalconMasters Thanks man!
Just amazing this model!!! I'm building a new PC so i can run this game on HIGH my little laptop only just gets 10fps on Low hahahaha
Hey guys, i just got my first f18 gifted from the us, not sure how to use it to fight these russians but this is super helpful. Question this obviously works in a real f18 right? I never got a key how do i turn this thing on? jkjk xDDD too soon i know.
The bombing is much more sophisticated in the a10. Esp with the 7/3 mode etc. This is like harrier simplicity
Indeed
I agree. The HUD symbology on the Hornet for me is more user-friendly and ergonomic. Not some so much to crack your head interpreting. My salute goes to you ED for implementing these tiny-witty symbologies.

Is the HUD TDC for AUTO drops working?
