Dear all, we apologize for any confusion the upcoming inclusion of ACLS to the Hornet may have caused. A primary reason for the development of DCS: Supercarrier was to provide the most realistic carrier operations ever done for a PC flight simulation. Key aspects of this include the new Link 4 datalink and Beacon systems specifically created for the Hornet (just recently completed) and the new ATC radio communication system. While the ATC radio communications system will remain a unique feature of DCS: Supercarrier, we are investigating moving Link 4 datalink and Beacon (BCN) from SC to the free carrier. This would use the existing communications for the free carrier of simply messaging inbound. When we have more information on this, we look forward to updating you.
I have the SC and I absolutely love it, but I have to say that I wouldn't have expected this either (for the people who don't own it). Thank you, I am glad that you guys will give it a thought, and hopefully introduce Link4 to the free carrier (as long as it is viable to do so regarding the coding that goes behind all that).
Because DCS World is a FREE simulator, DCS Stennis is fine as-is. When I look at the alternatives to carrier aviation in other sims, DCS Stennis is actually better than the payware options in most of the things that matter for standard CV ops (and Stennis DOES support ICLS for low vis recovery). So having ACLS limited to the premium SuperCarrier is reasonable, IMHO.
@@urgentsiesta7606 I paid 80 dollars for the plane, I don’t think I need to pay another 50 for all of the features with carier ops, I think super carier should cost money, I just want all of the hornet systems to be available

Hi Wags, 2 queries....what situations cause the "Tilt" message in normal flight and if you want to do a straight in, how do you stop mother directing you to the marshal stack instead when you check in?
If it is a Case III condition, you must first establish yourself in the stack and only push at your allocated time. You will get the Tilt message when you are too far outside the approach angle.
Since you have to fiddle with the mission editor to "turn this on", does that mean all existing missions and campaigns will not support it unless/until updated?
Well I can't get this to work lol. I set it up in the mission editor activate "acls" and "datalink 4" But I also have "ICLS Ch 1" and TACAN 71x" set up for waypoint 0, which you did not do. Are they interfering with the ACLS? I get to the point where I have to hit the "CPL" button in the autopilot. I do not get CPL on the HUD. There is a "M" next to the CPL button, i don't know what that means. I just end up flying over the carrier. I am trying to land on good old Teddy Roosevelt.
Excellent video. But the question remains.......what kind of ham sandwich would you make? What kind of bread? Which condiments, and in what order would everything be assembled? Perhaps that could be the next Wags video?
@@diegobasterrica6311 Because AAR is one of the fundamental skills of a great fighter pilot including takeoff, landing, formation flying, BFM etc. There is no automatic takeoff or landing or formation flying. AAR is not very hard when you learn the right technique. Half the time when I see people fail AAR is they just keep their throttle in 1 spot and not adjusting it you gotta keep it the throttle moving. @Matt thank you for your video, how do you go from airborne to,dispatch processing??And How I ll go , from the mission>Supercarrier>Case III recovery ??Thank you for your time.
4:20 How do you know what the final bearing should be?
In the comm from Marshal.
@@MattWagner Ah, such a noob lol. Thanks.
Isnt the established comm for when you are established in the marshal stack?
great video, great new feature and great explanation, thank you Matt for your work!
Great stuff, Wags! Very easy indeed.
@4:28 'Now we're gonna go setup our final-bearing which is gonna be 344...'
In the message from the marshal controller. It will also most often be in the mission briefing, but it will also be added to the kneeboard soon.
@@MattWagner Thanks Matt. I'm still working out an issue where the responses aren't always coming through my headset. But, I'll pay better attention to this next time.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks ED!
20:44 Pls fix the external/formation lights on the F18
Hey, in the link 4 I have typed in 255.0hz and then in game when I type this in it says it failed to link. How come? I did everything you did in this video but my f18 won’t link up.
THANK YOU MATT 👍
Do you feel extra immersed when you play since half of the voices are done by you?
Very cool system
PS
LIGHTS ON DECK!
Nice, stil most exitide about Supercarrier is Commander tower spots and lower deck exploring, taxing from elevators and so on.
Hi Wags, a quick and friendly howdy. Any chance might be able to talk about any progress on Case III Bolter patten and comms? Only asking because been practicing a lot of Case III Mode 2's and do find myself boltering, on many occasions. Many thanks and have an awesome day.
Very bloody cool. Thnx Matt.
17:58 I love the McDonalds chicken nugget machine noise so much I made it so when my phone reaches 50% charge it play that sound
Thanks for sharing. Do any of the free form fields you used in the mission editor need to match? Or were they all given "GW" for convenience?
Convenience. GW stands for George Washington :)
Since you have to fiddle with the mission editor to "turn this on", does that mean all existing missions and campaigns will not support it unless/until updated?
They will be updated. In progress.
Use the forum with a track file.
Excellent video. But the question remains.......what kind of ham sandwich would you make? What kind of bread? Which condiments, and in what order would everything be assembled? Perhaps that could be the next Wags video?
you guys keep doing excellent work! : )
This is amazing! Thank you!
Any chance of auto air refueling?
I'd be very suprised if they even took that into consideration
@@mcnugget3851 why would it surprise you?
@@diegobasterrica6311 Because AAR is one of the fundamental skills of a great fighter pilot including takeoff, landing, formation flying, BFM etc. There is no automatic takeoff or landing or formation flying. AAR is not very hard when you learn the right technique. Half the time when I see people fail AAR is they just keep their throttle in 1 spot and not adjusting it you gotta keep it the throttle moving. Another reason is people aren't light enough on the controls. The reason we have automatic carrier landing is because that is a real system.
@@mcnugget3851 But there is an "Autorudder" and a "Take-Off Assist" for the "skilled warbird pilot" if he chooses so... Why not at least a slider to adjust the size of the invisible contact box, that makes the basket snap to the probe? Being able to adjust that size (client side) from 8ft down to 8" would be easy to implement. Does not affect other players. Does no harm to the environment. 😇
@@shagrat47 you also have active pause, auto start and labels... after all it's just a video game.
6:15 Wags, what was the Master Caution about?
Home fuel setting
@@MattWagner Is it glitched? It was super frustrating to listen to the entire time!
@@KevinS47 No, just a high Home Fuel setting on the FPAS.
13:05 I assume ATC was Auto throttle control to maintain 250kts?
Yes
So I have to own the super carrier to use this feature of the F-18?
See pinned comment please.
is this active now or for the next patch?
For next OB
Thanks Wags! I am confused about 1 element though. When you set up the carrier, the ACLS freq was 336 however when you set up the datalink, you entered 256. Is there something I missed? Thank you!
@Matt Wagner thx for the update!
Will the Link 4 D/L Page be allways that way and if so where will be the Settings which are now at the D/L Page?
Additional press of D/L should bring it up, in theory.
How does this compare to the "magic carpet" system?
but what if I already have my ACLS cert and have to re-up it every couple years? /s
Thanks for the upload, how was the sandwich ?
Any plans for being able to edit the “sea state” in the ME? Would be nice to be able to edit rough seas for a pitching deck without 80 knots of wind. Looking forward to the updates!
Sea state is based on wind speed.
@@MattWagner Just for grins and giggles, here on the north shore of Lake Ontario, if the wind is howling above 50 kts FROM the north, WMO sea state is just around 4 (moderate) but if the wind is even light from the south, WMO sea state could be 8 or 9 because the wave height gets a long fetch to build. Useless info for DCS but, FWIW, I thought I'd share it with you. Thank you for such a magical flight sim!
Amazing Wags thanks! Is there any way to edit the “Home Fuel” and avoid that annoying master warning?
Yes, on FPAS
You can set the "Home" Waypoint on which your FPAS calculates the remaining fuel. By default its WP0 (your starting point).
If you want to change that, just open FPAS page and set the desired WP on the lower right. If you set it to a non-existant WP (e.g. WP51 or any other WP that has no coordinates assigned), the Warning stops.
@@Stormrider-Flight you’re the best! Thanks 🤙
