Good commentary. Thanks for the tip about cleaning it up with acetone. The door is today’s project.
Nice work! I’m getting ready to start my door this weekend. This helps a lot, thanks!
Glad I could help!
Thank you I'm getting ready to paint my door
The doors turned out really nice. I have a fiberglass front door I have to paint and I will follow your style.
Beautiful! Great job!
Thank you! Cheers!
That looks great. I have to do the same to my fiber door. I really liked that color you selected too.
Thanks so much!
Looks great 👍🏼
Thank you! Cheers!
Great Job. I want to try and go in with a gel stain to preserve just a little more of that texture but if not im going to go acrylic as well.
Great job, you definitely helped me save some money re-doing my front door.
Glad I could help
Thanks for the tips. Going to try to give our poor performing door an update.
You can do it!
Perfect. What about adding some kick plates to the bottom.
Was your door painted to begin with or was it gel stain before you added the new paint? Also, you used acetone but others say to use denatured alcohol, why the difference? Is one better for a painted surface? My door is fiberglass with an oil based gel stain on it and it needs refinishing. Thanks
Hi you did an amazing job on your doors they look beautiful the reason I am watching is because I purchased a door from Home Depot and has the the oval glass in the middle and it also has a lot of stains because I am suppose to paint it but I do not know what paint to purchase the door is white but its not a wood door help me please I wish I could take video and send it to you
That looks AMAZING! i am getting ready to tackle our front fiberglass entry door .. i actually had a contractor paint it about 6yrs ago but now the paint is starting to peel etc and looks bad
So, what is my best way to get all the loose paint off before sanding? Thanks for this video, a great help
Strip it with citristrip. Don't leave it on long. Between 10-15 mins. When i think fiberglass I think autopaint and topcoat. I've seen other use gel varnish on these doors with success too. I would still put a topcoat on ( shiny or matte).
I need to repaint a front door on rental property. This was very helpful including that I was concerned a standard brown was not going to look nice but yours shows that it looks very nice! could you share the color?? was it a standard pre-mix? (save a little money) or custom?
Im so sorry but I do nit remember the exact color and cant find the left over can. I had the paint mixed at home depot. Just got lucky picking a nice dark brown that my wife ended up liking!
Could you please post the exact bondo fiberglass you used in the description please? I have the very same issue with my double front doors! Changing out the hardware and need to fill in the little hole at the bottom.
Bondo Fiberglass Resin Jelly, 00432, 1 Quart
@@DIYeasycrafts thank you so much!!!!!
Would you mind commenting on the specific bondo fiberglass product you used? Thanks!
Its called. Bondo Glass Short Strand Reinforced Fiberglass Filler,Stage 2, 2.56 Oz Filler and 1 Oz Cream Hardener You can find it on amazon
@@DIYeasycrafts thank you!
i installed a peep hole in my front entry fiberglass door and chipped the surface on the opposite side as i was drilling thru, will this fiberglass bondo work to patch it up?
Yes, it will
Can I 🎨 my 🚪.into my new house ?
We have a moon shaped crack on the exterior of our Pella door; it is about four inches wide. Our door has a wood grain. In your opinion, can this be repaired using your technique? Will the Bondo give me enough time to try to tool the wood grain? Thank you for your help.
You did not say how long the crack was. Regardless even if crack is 12 inches long bondo should work. Just work fast to get the wood grain. Worst case sand it off and apply grain with 2nd coat. Best of luck!
@@DIYeasycrafts Thank you for your response. I will definitely do this once the weather warms up
It beats replacing the door, which as you know, is a very expensive proposition. God bless.
@@DIYeasycrafts The crack is also about four inches long. One last question…which Bondo product did you use? The kit I was looking at seems to be in liquid form. Thank you once again.
What color paint did you use ?
It was color matched at home depot
Hey Dan, I emailed your knife making page with a question and have not gotten a response yet. Is there a better way to get in touch with you? Thanks so much!
Not sure why I did not get it. I was on family vacation a couple wks ago but still should have received forwarded emails. Anyway what can I help you with? or email me direct wreckvalle@aol.com
Do you know what color have you added? I have same color and problem
Im sorry but I dont remember. I just picked from the color sheets at home depot
@DIYeasycrafts No problem, thanks for the quick update
Fiberglass 🪟
An HVLP sprayer would have been MUCH better and given you a "factory finish." Not to bad for DIY but lacks full pro.
I agree will have to try one
