The $100 for shipping is well worth it. I bought mine in person. The boxes are massive and heavy as hell. Filled the bed of my truck, and if not for a nice guy in the parking lot who took pity on me and helped, I might’ve died under one of them.
Yep the boxes that this whole thing comes in is absolutely massive! Thank goodness they didn't include a sub in there too LOL, would have been impossible to get through the door. Thanks for watching :)
Hi Tom, i'm interested in getting these myself. Do you know if these are made in the USA or are made elsewhere? Is there any indication on the box anywhere? Thanks!
SAD that we've got to a point in Audio/Video Equipment where we think just because something isn't outrageously priced that it should automatically mean there isn't a chance of there being the same quality of something double or triple its price.
Absolutely. I worked in hifi / home theater for 20 years and I was blown away when I saw this setup. I immediately bought it and I am extremely happy with the quality of build and sound and appearance. Klipsch has really thrown down the gauntlet with this deal. I hope they sell a million of them. Great value!
@@christheisgen2979 you are comparing thousand dollar setups to this . Tell me where can you find bang for buck like this system right here ? Keep in mind something like this would have easily run you a couple grand years ago .
Likely you will spend twice or triple the cost of these and be mighty disappointed that the improvement in sound quality is barely perceivable. The quality of music (similar for movies) is mostly the tune, the talent of the performer, and the performance itself (musicians have good days and bad days). Some (many) movie soundtracks are just awful. The thousands you spend on equipment isn’t going to change that.
I have this exact setup at home + same sub and paired with the Sony STRDN1080 receiver and it's an absolute beast. I was able to set it up myself. I paid 800 for 5.1 speakers, 250 for sub, 1300 for Sony TV Sony - 65" Class X900H and 600 for the receiver. At nearly 3K for this discounted setup and around 4-5K for a professional setup, that's a lot of money for a lot of people. This is the best setup for the money.... if you have the space and want to enjoy full 120 PFS for games, ATMOS movies.
Sounds good man!! Absolutely awesome system, you did a good job balancing everything to fit within your budget and still give you an awesome experience. Enjoy it!! And thanks for watching :)
Just got done installing the system with 2 Subwoofers and the yamaha for a good-size townhouse living room its sounds great for the money I really recommend this system👍🏻
Thanks so much Barrett!! It's really hard to beat the value that Klipsch is bringing to the table with this setup, gotta say we were absolutely blown away 😀
I'm so glad you reviewed this system. I like your channel because you review budget friendly and high end products. Everyone else just reviews high and gives to in dept review. Not everyone can afford high end products. Great job and keep you the good reviews. I have this system from Costco and love it! Just waiting to buy a better subwoofer.
Thank you so much!! We're very glad you find the reviews helpful and we'll try to cover the entire price range of components as long as we can. Enjoy the system!!
Hey Taney, thank you so much for your support!! It really means a lot, to me and my son. It's a great feeling knowing that what we do is helpful to others :)
@@TwoGuyzTech You are welcome. Now I have to find some stands for the rear surround sound speakers. Any suggestions? How tall should they be? Most look like crap and seem too short.
I purchased these from Costco 6 months ago and I am glad I did for my first atmos sound system or even for a good surround system. I also brought 2 of the same klipsch sub. Well worth it.
I think your assessment was fair. I missed your assessment of the atmos front firing speakers. We added rear atmos and rear surrounds and we find the combination of front up-firing and rear speakers on the wall pointed at the listening position to be very effective together. When we ran only the fronts and side surrounds for a few weeks, the atmos effect was not nearly as pronounced as it is now with he addition of the rear atmos speakers. These were never meant to be audiophile or reference level solutions. One thing I wish you had looked at and maybe mentioned was that these R41-M surrounds also go on sale at Costco for 89.99 a pair and they sell them in pairs separately. So, if you are like me, and want to build your first home theater on a budget, and want to try atmos, you can buy one or two additional pairs of these surrounds and put together a 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 or 7.2.4 atmos system for 999.99 for all 11 speakers. I paired mine with two SVS PB-1000 Pro 12" Subwoofers and we are extremely pleased with this set up for movies and shows. We were on a tight budget and have never had a home theater, the speaker prices were keeping us from affording a system and we were very close to purchasing a 1500 sound bar. Instead of going the sound bar route, we found this speaker pack and found that within our budget we could in fact put a system together and because prices are so low, we decided to up our budget a little to make room for a full 7.2.4 system. for 3200 we were able to build a Denon X3700h/ 2, SVS PB-1000 Pro 12" Subwoofer/Klipsch ref pack from Costco/2 additional pairs of surrounds. If money allows in the future and we outgrow the set up, we can start with new towers and maybe step up to a reference premier level speaker, and larger center, and later on look for a book shelf replacement for the six R41-M's we have and piece together a nicer speaker set up, but at least in the meantime, we can enjoy 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos surround and DTS:X master audio for our movies, shows and games instead of living with a 3.1 or a sound bar and save up for the rest. Because of the incredible value I think a LOT of new comers to the audio world will find this a great way to dip their toe and doing so allows you to dabble with a decent AVR and quality subs for a well rounded effective Home Theater that definitely has value. For 1500 a person can put a full system together using this speaker pack and considering the leading atmos sound bars al start at 1500 and run as much as 3200 (Sonos dual sub set up) this IMO is a much better way to go over ANY of those sound bars, LG SN11RG, Q950T, Vizio Elevate, Nakamichi, or Sono's arc 2 sub system, these speakers paired with a decent receiver also on sale for 349.99 and a decent sub will absolutely outperform those.
Thank you very much for watching and for the in-depth analysis! It's amazing how much you get for your money with this system, and the ability to expand it is worth even more. We chose not to review the Atmos channels in too much depth for the reasons we mentioned in the video (bounce atmos isn't an ideal solution for most people) but it is nice to have the option! As you mentioned, newcomers to the audio/HT world can get into this hobby without a lot of money and feel very happy with their system, and that's what's important. 😀
Awesome setup idea Matt, unbelievable for the price. I’m purchasing the exact same thing but with the Klipsch subs. Any recommendations for a budget amp to power the 7.2.4?
I picked this set up, along with the sub. Remodeling the basement, so I won't get to test for several months. Your review reassured me that my purchase was a wise one. I also picked up the Yamaha amp from them too. I never thought of Costco for audio. Glad I did. The savings are amazing.
Same. They are still in the box in storage while I demo the basement and remodel. Had to buy them while they were on sale, but am bummed I can't set them up yet.
Thanks for showing that it is more cost effective to save up and buy the whole package at Costco rather than piece by piece which I was thinking of doing. To replace my twenty year old Polk speakers.
Bought these along with the Yamaha TSR700 for 329 and It just sounds great. We also picked up the Sub for 150. on sale. Gotta love Costco. 90 day return so it was picked up without hesitation, they will not be going back. My wife and I are enjoying the atmos and I'm enjoying listening to music again. Thanks for the great review guys.
I purchased these a couple months ago for a 5.2.2 setup and purchased my Denon S750H from Denon refurbished. It’s a hell of a system and works with Apple Homekit via Airplay.
In the end, it's all a balancing act and the end goal is to get as much for your money as you possibly can. We love the idea of going refurbished and saving some money - enjoy the system!! Thank you very much for watching 😀
I have had these for a while now. They are powered by a Pioneer Elite VSX 92-TXH, 130x7 watts receiver. They are an amazing value for the money. Budget wise I could've spent 4 times what I paid, but after listening to them, assessing my needs they were perfect. Musically I listen to everything from classical to Metallica and, as you were 100% correct, with the subwoofer, they fulfill all my movie or music needs. I will be upgrading my receiver soon so I can utilize ATMOS. Great review, thanks.
Thanks for watching! These are really good for the money, it's unfortunate that they don't seem to be available at Costco anymore. Glad to hear you had a good experience :)
I just picked up the Klipsch PC speaker set up from COSTC...$59.99, can't believe the price based on the performance. Its in my office at work and I love it, everyone else may hate it, but TOO BAD !
Nice review. I want to offer a warning if you are not an audio system expert as is the reviewer because I noticed several comments about problems connecting the system. I had a similar problem with a 3yr old Klipsch sound bar, sub, and 2 bookshelf speakers. I never could get the bookshelfs to play or consistently connect with the Klipsch phone app. Called their "customer service" a couple times and it has to be the industry's worst! The last time I called was a Friday afternoon of a holiday weekend and the tech not only failed to get the bookshelfs to play but he also managed to mess up the sound bar and the sub! Then that cheese butt said he couldn't spend anymore time with me and hung up! If I could have reached through the phone...Anyway, I agree that Klipsch makes a decent home system for the money but if you have any problems, you have have been warned. I will never buy anything else from Klipsch no matter what the deal is.
I'm bought this about a month ago. Added an SVS pb1000 pro for my sub and a denon 960h reciever. It's pretty impressive for under 2k. Great review and I highly recommend if your looking for a quick out of the box atmos setup
I've been waiting for a decent review of this system before purchasing. I will definitely be buying this with the sub and the Onkyo that you recommended. Thank you for the quality review!
You are not kidding. I bought them and had to pull the box out of my truck and load onto a dolly and wheel around back. I had to pull out of the box myself as well. I had to take everything out, leaving the 2 front speakers. I pushed the 2 together and tilted the box to remove one at a time. Definitely a beast of a set. Very heavy.
I have a Klipsch Reference 7.2 surround sound system. Feels like your in an actual theater. Actually i think my setup is overkill for a living room speakers. I never tried putting the volume in full blast because around 50% volume is already too loud & my wife will murder me if i go higher. Lol
Whoever is interested in getting a Soundsystem get it it’s worth it. I spend a lot more and like a smaller speakers and they don’t have Atmos if I can go back and do it again I spent $4000 on my system. Of course they’re not selling you the tuner, but I have a 5.2.4 tunerfor me that’s a deal
Great video - there’s actually a slightly newer version of the sub that matches the other speakers much better from a looks perspective. It’s the same price on Amazon. I picked it up after I bought the set from Costco
Thanks for the info & for watching!! Yep the R-12SW was recommended on the box that the system came in, but I assume it was printed before the R-120SW came out because that seems to match it perfectly. Hopefully Costco carries it in the future!! It does look MUCH better haha. 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech yep, sometimes Costco sell the R12-SW at half price. So you could buy two sub woofers if your AVR supports it, which is even more amazing value!
I bought this exact system from Costco including 2 of the 12" subs and 2X RS41's height channel along with a DENON AVR-X3700H. My Cinema room is complete and sounds amazing!!
I got this set as well for $899, went down $100 day after and Costco gave me a price adjustment. I have an extremely small, 10x11, dedicated theater room and it sounds amazing. I replaced the center with a slightly smaller RC-42 II to fit my cabinet and put up some sound treatments to deaden the room and seemed to help tame the highs.
That's awesome that Costco would price match that for you!! Sounds like a fantastic setup - for the price these are hard to beat, and they work great as a starting point that you can modify however you'd like. Enjoy it! Thanks for watching :)
I set up that exact same system last weekend including the subwoofer. I used these to replace my very old American Monitor Company speakers I bought in 1977. These things are great. I have them hooked up to a Denon AVR S530BT. It doesn't have the Atmos outputs, so I haven't tested that out, yet, but my Denon has plenty of power to drive these. Thank you TwoGuyzTech for your reviews of the receivers Costco carries. Based on your reviews it looks like any of those will do the trick. Thank you again for your reviews!
We're glad to hear that you're enjoying the system!! We still think it's one of the best values out there right now for a 5.1 system. Any one of the three receivers will work great with these speakers as well. Our personal preference in order is the Onkyo, the Denon, and then the Yamaha (with that said we haven't reviewed the updated Yamaha TSR-700 yet but it's definitely on our list). Thanks for watching!
@@TwoGuyzTech I am ordering the Onkyo today. I don't care for the antiquated interface of my old Denon and I can read what it says on the display panel. Back to the Onkyo, how does one match the surround source with the receiver? Is it clearer on the Onkyo? For example, some Vudu 4k movies have Atmos, some don't. Does the receiver pick that up on its own or is there a set of buttons I'll have to change when going say from ESPN or music to my Vudu movies? Thanks.
Got that sub for my 9.2 system at Costco for only 180. Im actually shocked at the bass output for the money. I have a smaller room so it rocks pretty good. The room gain also extended my low frequency output a couple hz, so im quite pleased. I've had bigger and better in my time, but this one def exceeded my expectations quite a bit.
Our pleasure!! We thank you very much for the kind words and your support. It's comments like these that keep us going, and we hope you enjoy your home theater system man! 😀
I purchased this set with the subwoofer and a Denon avr S750H from Costco. I was very happily suprised with the sound quality at this price point! Very glad I got this set over a soundbar that was the same price. Thanks for your reviews. Your reviews helped me choose the Denon avr S750H.
Great to hear! We're glad the decision was a little bit easier and we appreciate the support. Enjoy it!! For the price it's a fantastic set. Thanks for watching as always :)
I have this same setup paired with the costco tx-nr6050 and its amazing. Not sure about the effectiveness of the atmos compared to speakers physically in the ceiling but it definitely gives you a wall of sound the envelopes the room. This combo really cant be beat for the price. Even audiophiles hear it and are amazed.
Thanks for watching! That's what's really amazing about this gear that Costco sells, for the money you really do get a system that has no right to sound as good as it does. We hope you enjoy it for years to come :)
Great video! We bought this setup with two of the subs and a refurb Denon AVR-S950H in January, and love it so far. We've always had Sony home theater in a box type systems before, so just getting into a little more serious setup. It completely blows any of our previous systems out of the water.
I just found this video. I really enjoyed the review (so I subscribed). However i noticed (or missed) that you didn't cover the Atmos speakers performance at all. This is what I would really be interested in buying the system for as I live in a condo and can't put up any height speakers. Do you have any thoughts on the Atmos performance? Thanks.
Thanks for watching & we appreciate your support! Unfortunately in our scenario, we have 10 foot ceilings, and as we mentioned in the video, we don't recommend using the bounce Atmos speakers for anything over 8 feet. Because of this, it wasn't fair in our opinion to evaluate the quality of the Atmos speakers. Hope this helps.
Due to this review I bought a set, but did upgrade the sub over what was tested in this video. They replaced a techiques 3 way speaker system from the 1990's. I had the opportunity to use a switch, I own, to go back and fourth between the new speakers vs the old. The Klipsch speakers sound much more clear compared to the old speakers which sound more "muddy". Though I'm going from 3 ways that could handle 230 watts continuous down to the Klipsch 100 Watt, I have yet to feel like they can't handle what I throw at them. The Denon system I currently have is rated for 105 watts for 2 channels, and since I always run in surround sound mode, I will never push these speakers to their max anyway. I'm not a audiophile, but I do enjoy a good experience, so for me these speakers are a win win considering they fit perfectly into my budget. *Note* I was not able to find them for 699, and had to call around to find a store that actually had a set. Considering I would have to drive to a neighboring state to get a pair, when I factored in my time, and gas, it was just as good of a deal to buy them from Cosco's website with the 10% surcharge.
Thank you very much for watching and we're very glad to hear you've had such a great experience!! For the price they're really hard to beat. Enjoy the system! :)
Thanks for this. I really liked klipsch I listened to in the past. One of my customers gifted me his old yamaha RX-V463 after we talked about his bad ass sound system. I ordered this set of klipsch and ordered a BIC PL-300 sub to go with it. Cant wait to have this set up in my living room!
I’m planning on buying this set. How does the receiver connect to the tv? Via HDMI ? 3.5mm jack cable? Bluetooth? I’m new to this and definitely need an upgrade for the living room.
Thanks for watching! We always recommend connecting your devices like PS5, NVIDIA SHIELD, Apple TV, etc. into the HDMI inputs on your receiver, and then you use the HDMI Output from the receiver and plug that into your TV. If you have a smart TV, you will have to connect the two HDMI ARC ports together on your TV and your receiver to make the sound play through the receiver. Hope this helps!
The receiver connects to the TV via HDMI. Not Bluetooth. And Not 3.5 mm (this jack does not carry video, only carries stereo audio). Connect the HDMI Out from your receiver into your TV. And connect your Blu-ray Player/DVD Player to the HDMI in of your receiver. Your receiver will relay the audio through the connected speakers and the video through your TV. Hope this helps.
The subwoofer is that of the older series. The one that matches the system is the R-120SW. I very much enjoy the reference series and have a couple videos up showing off the sound... Recorded from my Note 9 lol
Came to the comments to say this. The reason it doesn't match your set is because it is an older model. I have the exact same one you have and I love it for movies.
Picked up at store and add two subs . Sound great! Remember, correct speaker/ sub placement is the key! You can buy the most expensive speakers and have a crappy placement will make it sound terrible
Yep that came to our attention soon after publishing the video - unfortunately Costco doesn't seem to carry it though, which is why we went with the R-12SW. The box that all of the speakers came in recommended pairing the system with a R-12SW, so we assume it was printed before the R-120SW was launched. Thanks for watching!
I got this last month before they were on sale at $899. Although their 12SW sub was on sale at the time for $150 so I bought two. Now I'm running 7.2.4, I used my two older Polk front towers and moved them to the rear. I also bought a brand new Denon AVR-X6700H, this is an upgrade system since I had an older Onkyo reciever that was over 10 years old with no Dolby Atmos support.
I bought a Klipsch R-820FB 400 Watt Speaker I only bought one for now. I wanna buy the other speakers soon. I got it on sale for $599.99 at London Drugs I sounds Great!
I did a one stop shop for my new theater room. Costco.... Klipsch 5.1 atmos system. The Klipsch subwoofer X 2 The Yamaha receiver. The LG Nanocell 91 65". I love it, superb.
Rock on!! The great thing about Costco is that you can get your surround sound system and TV, then turn around and buy all of your groceries all in one go LOL. Enjoy the system and thank you very much for watching!! 😀
I am surprised you didn't mention the number 1 selling point of Klipsh that sets them above all other loudspeakers...their sensitivity/efficiency. That alone sold me my first pair back in the early 90's. With a sensitivity of 104 db, even a small low powered amp can make them thunder.
Good point!! Klipsch are very efficient and we have mention this in some of our previous videos. Perfect match to any AVR that doesn't have a huge amount of power. Thanks for watching!! :)
That is a fantastic deal. That setup with the R51 surrounds as opposed to the R41s runs to around 2K GBP (around 2700 USD) in the UK. That was the preferred atmos setup, and looked for a price drop for a while. I ran with the Jamo S807 system with the S8 ATM modules, which came in on sale at under 1K GBP (1300 USD) including the S810 sub, luckily all found on sale. Absolutely perfect to my untrained ears. Many people will write there are many better systems out there. Whilst my ears may agree, my wallet strongly disagrees. I’ve paired it with Marantz NR1711, which I got at launch for 550 GBP. Amazing system for 1500 all in. Perfect atmos pairing in my eyes, ears and most definitely wallet. Whilst we have Costco in the UK, they do not do those Klipsch bundles, you guys are very lucky to get those deals. Thanks for sharing.
The most important thing to consider is your situation and what you need - and it sounds like you've got that nailed down! The best system for you is the system that you like the sound of that you can buy without taking out a second mortgage. Enjoy it!! Thanks for watching :)
I own this Klipsch reference set with 2 extra R-41M Bookshelf Speakers for height instead of the ones on the towers, and 2 R-12SW Subwoofers with the Onkyo TX-NR595. Purchased everything through Costco. Everything sounds AMAZING! I am in love with my setup...for now. ;-)
Thanks for sharing!! It's genuinely amazing how much you can get for your money at Costco - I'll bet it sounds great!! Though we all get that itch to upgrade sooner or later... Welcome to Home Theater ;)
Good review. I tested both. I could not control the Onkyo's volume using my Amazon Fire TV stick's remote control, but was able to do that for the Yamaha. I was able to do that for the Yamaha V379, so maybe Yamaha is more compatible with the Fire TV stick. The Yamaha has some audio modes -- Hall in Vienna etc. that are not in the Onkyo. Also, Yamaha website claims the receiver will support 8K with a future update, did not see this for Onkyo. I chose the Yamaha.
Great review, I had a question. What banana plugs would you recommend for the speaker wires to plug into the receiver? Do you need banana plugs? Is the speaker wire they provided long enough of do you need to buy attritional wire. Thanks you
thank you for the review. witch of the Costco's budget AV Receiver do you recommend pairing them with? DENON AVR-S750H / Onkyo TX-NR595 / Yamaha RX-V6A/TSR-700 ?
Unfortunately, there's no clear-cut answer and it strongly boils down to personal preference. We felt that the Denon had the smoothest sound out of the three, while the Yamaha has a big advantage with its higher power rating and HDMI 2.1 capabilities. We would recommend watching some reviews on all of the receivers and weighing the pros and cons depending on what you need. In our opinion, you can't go wrong with any of them so whatever is available would be your best bet 😀
This is exactly the video i have been looking for . I just ordered these for 799 today on Costco and got the RS12Wi separately . I am new to this set up and wanted to know if a receiver is mandatory to use this set up and i cannot use this unless i get one ?
I wish this set was available when I bought my system at Costco. Currently rocking a klipsch r41ms, klipsch r52c, klipsch rs12w, and the fluance surrounds.
I bought this set a couple of months ago. Coming from a cheap sound bar, this set up is amazing! Are their better quality speakers out there? Sure. For the price, this system is awesome. I purchased 2 subwoofers and while the center was decent, I upgraded to the rp-450 since it was on sale on Crutchfield. I have it paired with the (finicky) Yamaha TSR-700 that I also got on sale at Costco. Haven’t had any issues with it yet and smile when I’m watching movies on my LG 86” 8750 (also Costco, lol).
The 625FA tower speakers has top and bottom port connectors and I have a Sony DH790 receiver. Does the bottom connect to the Front L/R of the receiver and the top connect to Surround/Back/Height L/R? Also when you calibrate is the speaker pattern now 7.1 or is it 5.1? (I have a Klipsch 12" sub). I'm new at this and trying to set up on my own. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for watching! Yep you're entirely right, the bottom ports connect to the Front L/R ports on the receiver and the top ports connect to the Height L/R channels. This would be considered a 5.1.2 configuration (5 bed-level speakers, 1 subwoofer and 2 ATMOS channels). Hope this helps! :)
Great found and also honest review about the price , I do own the Klipsch speaker and I do admit this is a great deal , Although I have to mention I assume they put these deals for speaker who are less popular and sell less like this model R-625FA , Probably they will not have these kind of deal for RP-6000F Or RP-8000F which are top sellers.
Thanks for watching!! We've never heard the Sonos unfortunately so we can't say, but in general, a system with dedicated speakers placed around your room is going to sound much better than a soundbar. For the price, we feel it's pretty much impossible to beat this setup, especially considering the MUCH higher cost of adding a subwoofer and surround channels to the Sonos Arc system. Hope this helps! 😀
Thanks for the response the Arc sounds amazing but I'm thinking I'm going to get the Klipsch and what are your thoughts on dual subs? I've never set up a system like that before so I was wondering how hard it is and I would be using the Yamaha receiver that Costco currently has.
Hey love the review. I’m in the process of buying either this from Costco or a Sony Core Series speakers 5.1.2 set up. Sonys sell Dolby atmos speakers that can go on the ceiling and the sizing of the towers is much more low key which is what I appreciate. WHICH of these two set ups do you recommend for first home theater? Pricing is around the same
Hi and sorry for the late response, we have only had experience with the Klipsch system so unfortunately we cant comment on how it compares to the Sony system. Thank you for your support :)
I personally liked the Sony core series setup better over my klipsch setup. I had a 5.2.4 system with them except I didn't have the matching subs from that series. It seems like listening to music was more clearer on them. The klipsch setup I have currently are 4 rp500m along with the matching center and I have the cdt-5650-c II for atmos. Technically the klipsch should be better but to me the clarity of the Sony's is slightly better. When you're watching movies, I don't think you'll really notice a drastic difference in sound especially when you're immersed in the movie and have sound hitting you in all directions. Now I did test both using 2 SVS pb2000 pro subwoofers and I had the crossovers slightly high on the speakers to let my subs do most of the work. I plan on putting together a living room setup with the sony core series speakers and two klipsch r-12sw subwoofers next week. I'll let you know how it performs then because the room your setup is in plays the biggest role in giving you good and accurate sound. Living rooms are less than ideal due to the large open spaces and seating arrangements. I'll see how the Sony's fill up the area and if they sound anemic and all over the place within that environment. Also: I ended up buying the Sony speakers off ebay since they're cheaper used currently. They used to go for ~120 dollars normally and 73 dollars on sales every few months. Now they're being sold everywhere for 168 and the atmos modules are even more money. The atmos speakers normally were around 130 and on sales were 100 or less. Now they're 200+. I wouldn't consider the Sony speakers at those high prices even though they sound great. Either buy used, wait for the prices to go down or just get the klipsch if it's more budget friendly. DO NOT GET THE SONY FLOOR STANDING SPEAKERS. THE BOOKSHELVES ARE VASTLY BETTER.
I really like the home theater cabinet used to put TV, Center channel speaker, and receiver. Can you please share the link where I can buy the cabinet?
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the slow response, it's the Sonax TGR-700-B Granville Mocha Black Wood Veneer TV Stand - here's a link to it on Amazon amzn.to/3mVqBwA
Any upfiring Atmos speaker is going to be a bit of a crap shoot since it relies on reflection off the ceiling making them completely dependent on the room. If you have textured ceilings (designed to reduce audio reflection or echo) sound will not bounce efficiently. Another issue is seating location. The angle of the sound reflecting off the ceiling affects optimal seating location.
Would you recommend getting this system even if I'm not planning on using the upward firing speakers? I would rather have ceiling mounted speakers, but this still seems to be a great value even then, but would love to hear your thoughts?
I purchased this same system about a month ago, and I do not use the upward firing speakers for atmos, I still think these sound great for the price, I think the r26f is a similarly priced speaker with out the upfiring speaker, and I don't think it sounds as good. Please take into account that I have only heard the r26 in store, and NOT in my home. But I have been VERY happy with the 625s.
@@nicholasmapes Yeah, my thought was that it would probably sound just as good as the r26f, but with the price from costco it would end up saving a lot of money, but I wanted to make sure that would actually be the case.
He recommended the Yamaha V6A and which is sold as Yamaha TSR 700 at Costco. At Costco it’s $399 while anywhere else it’s $599. The V6A and TSR 700 are exactly the same AVRs. They even share the same user manual.
So apparently this set will be discontinued after Costco sells whatever it has left. I was extremely lucky to find a set in store, about an hour away from my house, for only $650 the set! Considering they are $899 online, I was blown away with how cheap I was able to find them. I also picked up the R-12SWi wireless sub. About to hook it up today with a Sony STR-DH790 receiver. Hope I made the right choice for a budget home theatre system!
@@BigDavos so far, it’s been great with everything I’ve used it with. I have a Sony blue ray player and Samsung tv connected to it and it works flawlessly together. The output on the Klipsch speakers is more than enough, I had my wife telling me to lower the volume cuz it was too loud lol. Oh and I also have the Klipsch 12” wireless, powered sub with this system. I think it’s the most bang for your buck in my opinion for a low priced, yet legitimate system.
The combo has really shot up in price since this video. Inflation? I don’t know. Previously it seemed like too great of a deal to begin with. They probably sold a ton at $699
I bought several of these speakers separately mostly from Costco as well as the Yamaha TSR-700 (rebranded Yamaha you mentioned in the video) last year and I'm happy with the set up. I already had two high end Jamo Tower speaker so I bought the two R-12SW subs from Costco for $149.99 each on sale, four R-41M bookshelf speakers from Costco for $89.99/pair on sale and the R-52C center channel for about $175 from Amazon on sale. I have a vaulted ceiling in my living room so the "atmos" speakers in the Klipsch towers wouldn't work for me. This was a nice upgrade from my old set up and it didn't break the bank. I ended up going with a 7.1 set up with two subwoofers.
Could you please tell me the name of your tv stand and where you purchased it. (I saw it at 4:53 in the video). I have been searching high and low for a nice looking tv stand that would fit that sized center speaker.
Unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to hear any of those more expensive soundbar systems, but if it were our money, we'd always go with a dedicated speaker system instead. The difference is going to be staggering going from having all of your channels stuffed into a small soundbar (and some wireless satellites) to full-on separate speakers for each channel. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for watching! We agree that the R-120SW is the closest match in terms of looks. But, on the box of the Costco Klipsch system itself, they say the the R-12SW is the recommended sub (and, the R-120SW has never been carried at Costco). See this image of the Klipsch speaker system box where the R-12SW is recommended (bottom left corner) - i.imgur.com/IpQ0wCc.jpg
@@TwoGuyzTech I believe that is because at the time in which the Costco package was first released the 120 was not available and since I haven't seen the 120 available on Costco either they advertise the sub they carry and didnt change the packaging to reflect the newer sub lol
The R-12SW sub is from the previous generation of the Reference line of speakers that all have the brushed black vinyl wrap, prior to the wood-look of the current Reference line.
This is an awesome review! I have been contemplating getting this line of speakers now that they seem to be back in stock at costco. They are not at sale price, but I still think it is a great bang for the buck. That being said, do you have a recommended entry level sub that would go well with this. I have not seen too many great things about the Klipsch entry level R-12SW sub. I was hoping to spend $250-$450.
A great honest review, I appreciate that. I have always loved Klipsch and their brightness since the 80s. Now I am torn between the value of this set and a system that is more than twice this cost but performs better.
Glad I could help!! We really appreciate the kind words. In the end, if money is no object, you might as well go for as much performance as possible - but it's hard to understate the value you get with this setup!! Thanks for watching 😀
Thanks for the review! How would you rate this against the SVS 5.1 prime package? The room I would put them in is a medium-large room, leaning towards the larger end (big master bedroom). I was looking at both of these systems as I'm not an audiophile, and probably couldn't tell the difference between these systems that r/hometheater shits on 24/7 (hard to get a normal person's opinion on there lol). The only thing with the klipsch I'd do is get a better subwoofer like a sb/pb1000 or something. Thoughts?
Thank you very much for the comment! The biggest advantage that the Prime Satellite 5.1 system has over this is the smaller size of the speakers (if you don't have much room) and the fact that you get an SB-1000 Pro right out of the box. Personally we think that the 5.1 Satellite system had an overall better sound as well, especially in the midrange, but that's not to say the Klipsch system is bad if you want bigger speakers to fill a bigger room. We would recommend an SVS sub over the subwoofer we used in this video as well. Hopefully r/hometheater opens up to more budget minded systems as time goes on LOL!!! But overall they're both great options. Don't be afraid to put aesthetics before sound quality either, in this price bracket its worth at least trying to get something that you feel will look better in your room. Thanks again! Hope this helps! :)
Thanks for the review..I have this set in my garage waiting for my home theater to be done 👍...btw would like to know where you got the movie strip with the movie posters behind you.
Thanks for watching!! We really hope you enjoy the system once it's all put together. We actually made the movie strip poster ourselves (and it even doubles as an acoustic treatment panel!) - we documented the entire process here; ua-cam.com/video/c70dPcHoaJs/v-deo.html
Thanks for your insight. So...here is my future set up, like to have your thoughts. Yamaha RX-V6A, Klipsch RP-600M, Klipsch RP-600C, Klipsch PRO 16RC, Klipsch R-100SW, URC MX-780 Remote (for our 75" QLED), URC-350 RF Base? Trying to set up our new system in our new home. This has been highly recommend but looking for second opinion. We have a large living room will built in book shelves. We are so excited but want to make sure that the system is a entry level or is it not? Let me know your thoughts soonest. Thanks again for you professional videos. We love them!
Thanks for watching! We really like the Klipsch system we tested, but it's the only one we have experience with. We can't in good conscious recommend speakers we haven't reviewed before. We hope you understand & we're sorry we couldn't be more help. Thanks for your support! :)
This is the best value in home cinema audio equipment. You can't beat this deal. You'd have to spend 3X this to come close with any competing brand and setup. The only issue I have with buying this is the cost of a half decent receiver to make use of the system and its capabilities.
Thanks for watching! Honestly at this price I think the system is really well balanced. I thought the CC was quite good, but if you did want to upgrade, your next big step would probably be a higher-end subwoofer, or extra surrounds for a 7.1 setup. :)
@@TwoGuyzTech got it thank you for putting this video up it really helps I paired mine with the Sony str-dn1080 in the future I plan on upgrading my system a little at a time
Thanks for watching!! This is a hard thing to recommend as there are so many great speaker system manufacturers out there - but in our personal, subjective opinion based on the sound that we like, it's hard not to recommend the Aperion Audio Novus 5.0 Bookshelf Harmony Speaker System. For the price, it's got incredible sound quality. We've done a review on this system (plus some of Aperion's other speakers) which you can find here - ua-cam.com/video/_lsNRct84Rg/v-deo.html - along with any one of Aperion's subwoofers, which you can find here; www.aperionaudio.com/collections/bravus-subwoofers We reviewed the Bravus 12D on its own, and it's an incredible subwoofer, but you will end up paying more for it compared to the 10D or the 8D which should give you similar performance with slightly less output. Hope this helps!!
@@TwoGuyzTech I really appreciate your help, in your opinion those ones you recommended like, if I buy the whole kit, towers center and all 5.1 system there’s a huge difference in sound quality, compared with those ones you just reviewed? At least me I’m looking for crisp clean sound…
Yes, it's what I've been using and they sound amazing. I do feel like the towers can handle more power though when you are doing two channel listening. I have an Onkyo RX TZ-50 on back order waiting to unless the towers and other speakers I have (I have a pair of R 51m bookshelf I've been using instead of the included R 41m's simply because the 790 doesn't have enough outputs for 7.2.4). However, 5.2.2 sounds amazing and honestly better than most theaters near me lol. Great way to break into home theater and I feel I'll be using many pieces from this system for years to come, already nearing year 2!
So far, this is the only review I have found on these. Good build. I recommend listening to them first. Good value, if you like the sound. These need to be paired with a 10 or 12 inch sub to add depth. These appear to be entry level speakers from Klipsch.
Thanks for watching! You'll have to buy your own receiver to use these speakers. We've done reviews on a few different models that Costco offers, like the Yamaha TSR-700 and Denon AVR-S750H - go check them out! :)
Great video! I need to upgrade my old HTIB Onkyo speakers. I look at these every time I go to Costco. Although I’m debating about upping my budget and going with 8000f, 504c, 500m, 500sa, spl-120. I run a denon 3700 with an Optoma uhd50x. I use the system for movies and video games.
Thanks for watching!! For the price, these are pretty hard to beat and they should blow away any HTIB set - and I'd say they do have a decent amount of resale value if you want to upgrade down the line, though I can't verify that one way or the other. Whatever you do, remember to enjoy your system!! :)
Just pulled the trigger on this, whats the best recs for a $5-700 receiver? There are so many options out there. I'm tossing up between the Denon S760 or the new Onkyo NR6050
I have an Onkyo TX-NR585 and it does work well, but it will drop the blue tooth feature every once in awhile. I think the receiver has 80 watts per channel and I do have most of the speaker system in video. I hope that helps.
I want to wait til they get the hdmi 2.1 issues fixed in receivers. Gotta wait til they start reviews on the 2022 models. whenever they start shipping (early 2023 lol)
You want the best for you, then you’ll do it yourself, don’t expect anyone to help you all the time , fact,
I just bought all of this. Haven’t tested it yet, but I’m glad you did this. No one has done it with any sort of quality review.
I did the same, and added 2 pairs of the R41-M's to make a 7.2.4 with svs pb-1000 pro subs and a Denon x3700h we Love it!!
Thank you guys so much!! We really appreciate the kind words and we hope you enjoy your systems :)
You got to get it all hooked up. It’s a killer system.
Hey Thomas, check out Sony DN1080 AVR it's a great receiver for the money also.
Hi Tom, i'm interested in getting these myself. Do you know if these are made in the USA or are made elsewhere? Is there any indication on the box anywhere? Thanks!
I just bought the 12 inch sub woofer and oh my goodness for $250… I blown away. It just completes my system.
From my experience, this is accurate for a sub though. Your sub alone should be in this price range for something decent. Klipsch subs are ass cheeks.
Exactly. Since Costco has it for such a great deal oh it must be a cheap set up 🤣
@@christheisgen2979 you are comparing thousand dollar setups to this .
Good choice!! I'll bet it sounds great with the dual subs. Enjoy the system! It's an incredible deal for the price! 💯
Loving this Costco series you guys have going. That truly is a fantastic price for a complete system like this. Great job on the video guys.
Thank you! I appreciate your work!
Glad you like them!! Good to hear that they're still running great, we're simply stunned at what you get for the price. Thanks so much for watching!!
Thank you very much for watching!! We're glad we were able to put your mind at ease. You made the right choice - enjoy it once it's all setup!
Glad it was helpful!
Right on!! Thank you very much for watching and we're glad you're enjoying the system! Costco really makes these purchases easy. 😀
Well these speakers need a cable, so no issue there
My fav part about klipsch speakers is unboxing them and listening to them
I got that center channel for 60 on Facebook and the bookshelf for 89 bucks at Costco .
I'm bought this about a month ago. Added an SVS pb1000 pro for my sub and a denon 960h reciever. It's pretty impressive for under 2k. Great review and I highly recommend if your looking for a quick out of the box atmos setup
Thanks for watching!! Enjoy the system :)
I've been waiting for a decent review of this system before purchasing. I will definitely be buying this with the sub and the Onkyo that you recommended. Thank you for the quality review!
Thank you very much for the kind words & for watching! We hope you enjoy the system :)
I've seen them in the entrance of my Costco and the box they come in is HUGE!
Very heavy.
@@mikeb359 so it does sound good!?
@@michaelmarquez6133 Phenomenal!
I have a Klipsch Reference 7.2 surround sound system. Feels like your in an actual theater. Actually i think my setup is overkill for a living room speakers. I never tried putting the volume in full blast because around 50% volume is already too loud & my wife will murder me if i go higher. Lol
LOL that's good to hear!! If it does what you need it to do then it's perfect. For the price they're hard to beat. Thanks for watching :)
Absolutely!! That's a great point :)
I bought this exact system from Costco including 2 of the 12" subs and 2X RS41's height channel along with a DENON AVR-X3700H. My Cinema room is complete and sounds amazing!!
Thanks for sharing & watching!! Sounds like an awesome setup!! Enjoy it man :)
This is awesome. The information here is priceless. Thx for doing all the effort and making my choice easy.
Sounds great!! We hope you enjoy the system for years to come :) Welcome to the hobby and thank you very much for watching!
@@TwoGuyzTech Makes perfect sense. Thanks.
@@TwoGuyzTech Absolutely! Thanks for taking the time to review these as I know they aren't in the realm of what you usually review.
Sounds good man! You'll enjoy it!
Thanks for watching & joining the Discord :)
Thanks for sharing the videos!! We hope you enjoy the system - great value for the price :)
The true matching sub for this setup is the Klipsch R-120SW and not the R-12SW. It can be found on sale for $250-$350 depending on luck and location.
Thanks for watching & for sharing! We hope you enjoy the system, sounds pretty amazing!
The Klipsch subwoofer X 2
The Yamaha receiver.
Exactly what ive had for the last 3 years. My 1st true system plus the yamaha aventage receiver.
That was a fine review. Nicely done!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks you
Sounds awesome with their Sub.
Shit literally flew off my walls.
Who put the shit on the wall?
thank you for the review. witch of the Costco's budget AV Receiver do you recommend pairing them with? DENON AVR-S750H / Onkyo TX-NR595 / Yamaha RX-V6A/TSR-700 ?
Unfortunately, there's no clear-cut answer and it strongly boils down to personal preference. We felt that the Denon had the smoothest sound out of the three, while the Yamaha has a big advantage with its higher power rating and HDMI 2.1 capabilities. We would recommend watching some reviews on all of the receivers and weighing the pros and cons depending on what you need. In our opinion, you can't go wrong with any of them so whatever is available would be your best bet 😀
I got this same set at Costco on sale, paired it with 2 subs on sale, and the Yamaha atmos receiver from Costco. All for under 1500.
Thanks for sharing!! Costco gear is all very well priced & we hope you enjoy the system, should serve you well for a long time! 💯
Did the same...
Is the receiver hdmi 2.1?
@@jaison206 yes.
This is exactly the video i have been looking for . I just ordered these for 799 today on Costco and got the RS12Wi separately . I am new to this set up and wanted to know if a receiver is mandatory to use this set up and i cannot use this unless i get one ?
Yes, man, it's really mandatory to own a receiver to use all channels.
You order something and you don't even know what it is or how it works?
What about using klipsch's wireless bookshelf speakers with this setup?
I wish this set was available when I bought my system at Costco. Currently rocking a klipsch r41ms, klipsch r52c, klipsch rs12w, and the fluance surrounds.
Very nice!! The nice thing is that you've already got some of the matching speakers so you do have an upgrade path. Thanks for watching :)
You should be able to return your system and then upgrade.
@@Moondoggy1941 I bought it in December so the return window is long gone.
@@Hereth_Edits I am sorry I thought they had a more liberal return policy.
Thanks for sharing this small review. I would love to see a performance review with sound for movies and music. Thanks for all your hard work
I bought this set a couple of months ago.
Thanks for watching and we absolutely hope you enjoy the system! As you mentioned, it's all amazing what you get for the price!
@@TwoGuyzTech Thanks for the quick response
Great found and also honest review about the price , I do own the Klipsch speaker and I do admit this is a great deal , Although I have to mention I assume they put these deals for speaker who are less popular and sell less like this model R-625FA , Probably they will not have these kind of deal for RP-6000F Or RP-8000F which are top sellers.
I'm seriously looking at this system. I'm also considering the Sonos arc? With the right set up do you think the Sonos would compare?
You cannot go wrong with klipsch speakers they are used in many theaters
Nation wide.great for movies music.
Is this the same system that is now listing on Costco for $900? It's called the Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos Surround System. Thanks.
Yes, was just recently $700 dollars. Thanks for watching!
@@TwoGuyzTech Called my Costco and they told me it was discontinued in September which doesn't make any sense.
@@MisterChipa they're now promoting the 5.1.4 reference theater system.
Why is there a formaldehyde warning on the towers on costco site?
I really like the home theater cabinet used to put TV, Center channel speaker, and receiver. Can you please share the link where I can buy the cabinet?
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the slow response, it's the Sonax TGR-700-B Granville Mocha Black Wood Veneer TV Stand - here's a link to it on Amazon amzn.to/3mVqBwA
That's becoz the sub is an old version. The newer version has updated design which matches the other speakers.
Would have appreciated your thoughts on its Atmos performance
Any upfiring Atmos speaker is going to be a bit of a crap shoot since it relies on reflection off the ceiling making them completely dependent on the room. If you have textured ceilings (designed to reduce audio reflection or echo) sound will not bounce efficiently. Another issue is seating location. The angle of the sound reflecting off the ceiling affects optimal seating location.
Would you recommend getting this system even if I'm not planning on using the upward firing speakers? I would rather have ceiling mounted speakers, but this still seems to be a great value even then, but would love to hear your thoughts?
We absolutely think so :)
They are $900 right now at costco, how did you get them for $700?
Thanks for watching! They go on sale quite often. You'll just have to keep an eye out.
Well I got a 200$ gift card for using Costcos credit card. So technically I paid 700. I think that promotion might be ending soon
I got this set with the Denon receiver from Costco and sub. It is awesome! And yes, a review of the 12 inch sub would be great!
Thanks for watching!! We're glad you enjoy the system! We're definitely considering doing a review :)
How did you connect the tower speakers to the receiver, specifically the top atmos speakers? Thanks
Hi very good content, Do you think it was a good choice to buy the Receiver Denon X2700H 90w for this system of speakers!? For Dolby Atmos
Should be a good match.
I have the 8000f towers and I know it’s better but I can’t help but wonder how close these towers are in audio fidelity
We'd be pretty curious to know what the 8000f towers sound like!! Thanks for watching :)
He recommended the Yamaha V6A and which is sold as Yamaha TSR 700 at Costco. At Costco it’s $399 while anywhere else it’s $599. The V6A and TSR 700 are exactly the same AVRs. They even share the same user manual.
Yep that's correct! We reviewed the TSR-700 in a previous video as well, great AVR for the price - thanks for watching!
Hey So How did the DH790 worth out with that system? I have the same receiver
Highly recommend getting a second sub! Not so much for more output, but for better balance and creating this omnipresent like base!
How would you compare this to something like a $1000 soundbar setup?
Unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to hear any of those more expensive soundbar systems, but if it were our money, we'd always go with a dedicated speaker system instead. The difference is going to be staggering going from having all of your channels stuffed into a small soundbar (and some wireless satellites) to full-on separate speakers for each channel. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching :)
Sub doesn't match because the R-120 is the matching sub and not the R-12. Very different look and materials
How do these sound with a Yamaha Aventage receiver?
The prices seems to have already changed to $899 website, $799 in store.
What crossover do you recommend for the Klipsch r 52c and r 625fa? I think the center speaker has a frequency range of 89hz to 21khz.
Cross Klipsch R52C Centre at 100hz
This is the best value in home cinema audio equipment. You can't beat this deal. You'd have to spend 3X this to come close with any competing brand and setup. The only issue I have with buying this is the cost of a half decent receiver to make use of the system and its capabilities.
That's how we feel!! If you're getting into the hobby, you simply cannot beat this setup!! Thanks for watching :)
I got mine in last week but still haven't set it up. If you were to upgrade 1 part of this set up would you say the center speakers?
Thanks for watching! Honestly at this price I think the system is really well balanced. I thought the CC was quite good, but if you did want to upgrade, your next big step would probably be a higher-end subwoofer, or extra surrounds for a 7.1 setup. :)
@@TwoGuyzTech got it thank you for putting this video up it really helps I paired mine with the Sony str-dn1080 in the future I plan on upgrading my system a little at a time

What part of the USA did you buy it
We're in the northwestern states :) Thanks for watching!
Hello what set of speakers 5.1 you recommend I’m a price range of $2.000
Thanks for watching!! We've done a review on this system (plus some of Aperion's other speakers) which you can find here - ua-cam.com/video/_lsNRct84Rg/v-deo.html - along with any one of Aperion's subwoofers, which you can find here; www.aperionaudio.com/collections/bravus-subwoofers
We reviewed the Bravus 12D on its own, and it's an incredible subwoofer, but you will end up paying more for it compared to the 10D or the 8D which should give you similar performance with slightly less output.
I just purchased these online on Costco. I was wondering if the Sony STRDH790 would be enough to run these?
Hey Rob i can hook up these speakers and two subwoofer klipch r12sw 400 watts also from Costco with denon avr s750h?
I mean denon avr s750h.
Yep that should work great! Thanks for watching :)
@@TwoGuyzTech you welcome
Do you have to buy your own receiver or does it come with one?
Thanks for watching! You'll have to buy your own receiver to use these speakers. We've done reviews on a few different models that Costco offers, like the Yamaha TSR-700 and Denon AVR-S750H - go check them out! :)
I love your question! A receiver! Coming included! Hum!
What is a good midrange home theater
Where and how? Did you find it in store?
I want to wait til they get the hdmi 2.1 issues fixed in receivers. Gotta wait til they start reviews on the 2022 models. whenever they start shipping (early 2023 lol)
