Congrats on the upgrades Cody! Always love hearing people share their home theater journey.
Thanks Michael!!
I expected a JTR upgrade😁
😁😁😁 I’ve heard great things about JTRs but I haven’t heard them in my room yet. Hopefully one day!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist HI, I just wanted to ask approximate cost of your home theater sound set up including basically the speakers, sub, and the receiver. Just an idea of close guess on total cost? Or guesstimate on total cost of the previous speakers vs the new one
@@biggesttboss I went cheap as possible. So I built my own speakers. I made 27 liter closed box SB Acoustics 8 inch fullrange drivers (7 for 5.1.2, at €56 per driver not including MDF, banana plugs, padding, paint, glue, etc). I love the sound. Capacitor tuning only, no filter or BSC.
I recently calculated a nice closed box for 12 inch fullrange, the Fane Sovereign 12-250TC, and built 1 test box. I may build 3 for the LCR. I went as small as possible, with 47 liter, but ideally we are talking 75-90 liter. But you will need to correct them at such a small volume.
Either of these on a nice 5.1.2 will do golden as a start, or in my case as end station, single drivers have a lot of pros and a few cons, the pros for me outweigh the cons by enough to not go anywhere different. I personally find these have no real need for a sub but you can if you want to of course. Klan+Ton has a recent issue with a 4 smaller driver one, but ifa big boomy rumbler is for over accurate and fast, dont go there and get a big huge single drivers instead. I have one with plate amp built into a sewer pipe (most rigid I could find) and it goes nice and low.
I have a Denon AVR-S760H myself, up from a Denon AVR-1513. Both were ~€500.
There is no absolute need to go super highend, but if you do want that, I'd personally not go for a super expensive receiver but a prepro and 1U amps, something like Crown. But that will cost you, obviously.
Great choice! Really happy for you. Also great to hear your audio story! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! It has definitely been a journey, but I’m glad because it has made me more appreciative at each step.
Congratulations🎉 That will sound amazing. Great video keep up the good work 🔊🔊
Thank you!!! I’m so excited 😆
Blessed for sure to have you sharing you experience and knowledge. Thank you and may God continue to bless you and your loves.
Thank you 😊! May God continue to bless you and your family too!
Thank you for sharing your journey! Looking forward to seeing more videos on them
Thanks for watching!
Great vid! Congratulations to the awesome upgrade. Man i want this👍😀
Thank you! Let me know when you get them and what you think.
Woohoo! I always knew you'd go with the Arendals! Happy and excited for you.
😆😆 thanks.
Finally a sound enthusiasts talking into a real mic. Instantly appreciated
Thank you 🙏🏾
Congratulations on the purchase. I'm a klipsch fan but that's a massive upgrade in my opinion
Thank you 🙏🏾
Wow !! Nice upgrade!! Enjoy!!!
Thank you!
Those our gorgeous! Great stealth look which I prefer for home theatre but still something to gaze at and smile.
I like the look too although I wish they had a touch of color somewhere. 😁
Congrats!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing your experience and congrats on the upgrade! The 1723, non S, monitors have been on my short list for months. Your review might just push me into pulling the trigger.
Pull the trigger!!! Says the person who doesn't have to pay for them. 😂😂😂 Let me know what you get and what you think of them.
Great stuff! Congrats to you as well!
Thank you! Cheers!
They look really nice!!! Haven't heard them but, know they have great reviews. Enjoy!!! Just subscribed
Awesome! Thank you!
That's what I would have expected! Nice upgrade!
Thanks!
heck yeah congrats on the upgrade \m/
Thank you!
that's nuts! I had the exact same journey! I had the energy take 5.1 and upgraded to the POLK Signature series and now use the energy as my 4 atmos speakers.
😁😁 nice! Energy was apparently very popular. 😁
Love love Klipsch!! I got the thx ultra 2’s from Klipsch and they are AWESOME!!
Congrats on your new Thx speakers!! Anything with THX is quality !! Even when you resale them!
Thanks 🙏🏾
I also have the Klipsch premier speakers for my livingroom. I really like the speakers bc of the sound/value/setup. My livingroom walls isn't setup up like a theater but its good enough with Klipsch sound. I will only upgrade if I have a movie theater dedicated room only. Awesome upgrade!
Thank you
Congratulations I totally understand your reasoning for upgrading excellent I recently upgraded to the 805D4 from bowers and Wilkins myself one amazing experience and yes, the set up is critical
Thank you! I was quite ready but I just couldn’t resist the seamless experience. 😁
I love Klipsch! I purchased a Klipsch Synergy 7.1 Surround Sound Home Theater System back in June of 2010! My Klipsch sound awesome when watching music and listening to music. And they still sound as good as the day of purchase!
I can definitely believe that. Thanks for sharing!
I think you introduced arendal to me. Now they are getting great reviews from other youtubers. Glad for you that you went with these.
They're great! 😁
Congrats on the upgrade! 👍
Thanks! 🙏🏾
Welcome too the family 🎉
😂😂 happy to be here!
Hey Cody, just found your channel. I am going through the same process of upgrading the initial home theater setup I built. I was going to go Klipsch but these Arendal’s look like the opportunity to leap frog and get more life out of a system investment. Thanks for this review.
Congrats! Happy for you....
Thank you 🙏🏾
I had the take classic as well! Started my whole journey! Kef q series 7.2.4 system now. Svs subs and NAD M series powering the system! Good luck on the next step of your journey!
Nice! Thanks for watching and enjoy the journey. 😁
Your smile and facial expression says it all. Congrats!
😊 thank you
Nice upgrade... congratulations! I have a full Kilpsch RP setup as well and I'm looking to upgrade to the 1723 as well.
Let me know what you think once you get them. How they compare to the Klipsch.
Good for u Cody ! and yes i owned a pair if Klipsch Rp600m and love it , also own B&W 606 anniversary , Monitor audio silver 100 and a pair of Kef Q150
Thank you!
Wow my exact plan after my avm90 purchase i got the rp280.i believe in 2012...but great choice...happy holidays to you and family
Thanks, you too!
Nice choice I’m sure you’ll enjoy them, I’ve just upgraded from my bowers and Wilkins cm speakers to some monitor audio gold 5g I’m loving them for movies and gaming
Very nice!
Oh man, seeing those Energy Take Classic speakers takes me back. I had those for a few years and really liked them! Had to move away from surround due to living space, but finally in a bigger spot today and excited for setting up a surround system soon.
Nice! What TV/projector and speakers are you planning?
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I have been finishing my living room and have a 65" LG C1 that'll be moving from my bedroom. My listening area will be pretty small, about 7'x10' with the TV on the short wall. Any recommendations on speakers that'll fit well with that? I think the couch will be a foot or so off the wall with a nice shelf behind.
Love the enthusiasm! Alot of HT buffs and audiophiles forget that's this is supposed to be FUN. Good speaker choice, I like horn-loaded stuff. Myself, will not likely buy another retail speaker again after discovering how much more i can get for the money going the diy route.
Yea, I’m really happy! It’s such a fun experience. 😁
I’ve thought about diy but I feel like it will be a journey as well. My first setup will be good to me but not great. Then 2 or 3 setups down the road I’ll actually have something great. 😁😁
I love mine. I own every single speaker in the series - all around the house in various setups. Excellent home theater speakers that have tremendous value. Especially if you snag them on sale (like I did), I don’t see myself deviating from them any time soon. I do, however, upgrade my subs on occasion. Bass is an addiction. 😂
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
Congratulations on the upgrade.
Yes! Thank you!
I had Klipsch reference premiere 5.2 for 5 years. It was a great system, but I really want true 3 way speakers and soft some tweeters to reduce ear fatigue and better off axis response. I ended up going with a 5.2 monolith setup and the difference to me was much improved. I did need a 5 channel amp to get the dynamic range. The vocals are less muddy and cleaner, off axis response is significantly improved and ear fatigue is gone.
Awesome!!!💯
Thanks!
Congrats on the upgrade! I too have klipsch reference premiere and eventually want to upgrade to rf7 iii and rc64 iii
From what I’ve heard they’re great speakers so good plan!
I own the rf7iiis and rc64iii. With 4 502s surrounds. I love the sound. So glad I went big with this Klipsch speakers. But I do not know how they compare to the arendals.
Congrats!
Thanks
I really like the look of these speakers!
The Arendals? I like them too but I do wish they had a splash of color somewhere. 😁
Very nice! Welcome to the Arendal Sound club. I reviewed them and just couldn’t send them back- they were so good. Enjoy!
I'm happy to be here!😁😁 We should talk some time, I'll email you.
Seeing both of you guys rave about the Arendal made me purchase the 1723s bookshelf! Looking forward to receiving them in 4 days.
😆😆😆 let me know what you think when you get them.
👏 🙌 Excellent Video. I’m currently using Klispsch RP 8000 home theater system. I really enjoy Arendal Sound Speakers. The key is purchasing a good beef amp which can cost just as much as Arendal Speakers
Thank you 🙏🏾
Excellent choice!
I think so too!
Excellent video....and good timing for me. i was leaning towards the Klipsch. But I will check out the Arendals. Do you have an opinion on the Definitive Technology DM80 with built in woofers? Thanks
Awesome. Congrats. I still love my RP system. I may upgrade to some nicer in walls at some point
They have been great to me. I’m planning to sell them like I said in the video but I’m starting to think more about moving them to another room. 😁
Wow, awesome speakers Enjoy.
Yes, thanks
Thanks for the info
Any time!
Congrats on your upgrade. You are now officially a YT influencer.
😂😂 Thanks!
Smart choice! I'm running the 1723 THX as my LR
Nice!!
I upgraded to Klipsch 2022 Reference Premier speakers. 4 sets now make up my 9.2.6. Just got my AVM 70 8K 3 days ago. Great video. Keep up the hard work brother
Very nice!! I'm interested in the AVM series from Anthem. How's it working out so far?
@Home Theater Hobbyist Sounds amazing. I'm coming from Denon X4700h pre-amp mode 7.2.4. I didn't think 15 speakers I'd hear any chan separation in my 14.5x18.5 livingroom. I was wrong when D Atmos or DTS X is on it sounds insane. Now bc I have 15 speakers I also listen to it at -48db 🤣🤣 -60 at night & -35 is loud
Nice!! Hopefully I can try it at some point. 😁
Congratulations!
Klipsch is great for its price, but this system is on another level. Do they have in-wall speakers for atmos?
Thanks! Not that I’m aware of, all I’ve seen is on wall.
Wow man. Very nice
Thanks 🙏🏾
Nice upgrade!
Thanks
Nice upgrade by rhe way 👍🏾
Thanks! 👍
I love Klipsch speakers, I have all my front speakers in wall, and I have the two 12inch subs, I absolutely love my setup
Nice😁
Went to there site! A little pricey, but the reviews are an outstanding product for sure. Well worth the price. I may try a pair of tower's my self!
Nice! Let me know if you get them and your thoughts.
Nice speakers, and I hope you enjoy those bad boys. I will also get the height channels as well to complete the whole thing. If I were you.
At this point, I have my klipsch reference 13.2 with four. SVS subwoofers and they are bumping big time. No need to upgrade no time soon.
Yea, I’m planning to add the Atmos speakers.
WOW!
😁
I went from Samsungs, Polk and Now Kef flat wall mounts and Im happy.
Nice!!!
My heart is broken bruh 😢. You about to make me put on a B.B. King record! Congrats to you but, I’m keeping my klipsch! I follow you and value your reviews and I will continue to check you out!
Sorry to break your heart, 😔😀 But thanks for continuing to watch, comment, and support the channel!
nice upgrade!
Thanks 🙏🏾
Totally know how you feel. Just bought four Jamos speaker and I'm so happy. Beautiful design makes it sound better, huh.
Nice!! Happy New Year!
I am happy for you. I have the same system, enjoy.
Thank you, I will!
Honestly any speaker tower under $2000 a pair will be pretty similar especially if you use direct or dps will give it all pretty much the same exact sound some will be brighter then the other but dps will flatten them down alot when you ab tell you'll notice only very small differences all the speakers in the price range will pretty much have the same distortion at sed volume level in that price range
I'll take them!
Hi Cody - Where did the Def Tech speakers fall in your line up? Thank you for the great reviews and content.
Great question! The BP9000s are 5th or 6th on the list. My only concern is: people have mentioned having issues with the built in amps. The setup I had was for review only and I sent them back so I have no idea on long term use.
Very nice upgrade.🍺
Thank you 🙏🏾
Wouldn’t monitors as surrounds be overkill? What would they provide over the normal surrounds? The difference in price isnt massive but maneuvering around them sounds like a nightmare 😂
Here’s a video I did that talks about the benefits.
What is the Best Surround Speaker for Dolby Atmos?
ua-cam.com/video/2ZRHz_LuXTs/v-deo.html
@@HomeTheaterHobbyistespecially crossing over to the subs at 80hz. Their efficiency values are exaggerated and be careful with the impedance especially with a receiver as too many 4 ohm speakers on a receiver isn’t good for its power supply
I was surprised you didn't get the Arendal towers but I think you made the right choice. The extra woofers on their towers roll off really early. I think around 100 -120 Hz so they hardly get any use when paired with subs.
I would have thought the towers too but the seamless presentation of the monitor and center got me hooked! 😂😂
I had the Bose 201s and then the Bose 301 V's. They had good midbass with the 8 inch paper cone but the rear tweeter was a challenge.
I never heard the 301s. I still have the 201s they are in the attic and I haven't used them in years. I don't know how the drivers have held up to the extreme temps.🤷🏾♂️
I have been looking to upgrade my Def. Tech 8015. Thanks for your review on the Arendal Sound. I would like to know what AVR or Amp you are driving them with. I know my Marantz 5014 is a 8 ohm and Arendal are a 4 ohm. So it would be nice to see a review system when driving your new speakers.
Good question, I'm using my Denon AVR-X4400h as my surround processor and Monoprice Monolith 7 Channel amplifier for amplification. The monolith outputs up to 300 watts per channel (4ohms, all channels driven), 200 watts per channel (8ohms all channels driven). It handles all my floor level speakers. In general a lot of receivers can drive 4 ohms speakers even if they are 6 or 8 ohm receivers, one reason is because speakers don't stay at 4 ohms all the time. One piece of advice though, as an owner if you have 4ohms speakers with a 6 or 8 ohm receiver, try not to run them at really loud volumes, that could trigger the circuit protection in the receiver and shut it down. Hopefully this helps. 😁
I am in the process (have the center, waiting on the towers to arrive tomorrow) of swapping out my THX Ultra II fronts and subs for the RP-504C II and the RP-8060FA II, and I've pre-ordered 2 of the RP-1600SW subwoofers. Arendal was high on my list, and really the only two reasons I stayed with Klipsch was my in-ceiling speakers are Klipsch and I wanted to maintain a more cohesive listening experience, and the dealer I swapped my speakers with didn't carry Arendal... darn.
Such a great looking system though!
That makes sense!
Cody, I obviously follow you because I'm a home theater hobbyist, but I am also a recording engineer and composer and as such one gets a sound in one's mind about what "perfect" sound is and how a song I produce for example should sound the best to me. It sounds like you have come close to your home theater panacea. Congratulations.
😁😁 thanks!
I don’t think these are perfect or even “endgame” for me but it’s going to very hard for some other speakers to dethrone them. 😆
Email me sometime, I’d love to talk about your recording engineer experience and what speakers you like. 😆
Check out the Klitsch fixes and upgrades by GR-Research. The frequency responses are usually out of whack but can be turned into pretty decent speakers
The problem is not with Klipsch speakers. The problem is with people. I don’t have them, but Klipsch are a FANTASTIC speaker! In fact, whichever speaker someone likes best, is THE BEST speaker. Period.
Keep in mind, that if someone doesn’t care for something, no matter what it is, it’s no good……..”So says them”.
Once again, Merry Christmas to you and your family, Cody.
Oh, and the Lord loves you!
God loves you too!!! I agree, there are speakers that I personally don't care for but others love them so who am I to judge? 🤷🏾♂️
Thanks for sharing! I pray you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist
Awesome to have discovered another brother in Christ, Cody! Truly awesome. I am so blessed!
Yes sir! God is excellent!!! It’s great to have another brother in Christ.
Nice upgrade. The speakers look nice too!
Have you reviewed the Monolith THX speakers? I’ve got the 465 & 365 (also Ultra certified) and would love to hear a comparison. I’d expect the Arendals to be overall better, but would it be worth it to upgrade???
Thank you 🙏🏾. No I haven’t reviewed those. I reached out to them for some and didn’t hear back. I’ll try again in the new year and see if I can get some for review.
Loved the video! Most of us have small rooms, so most of us can relate to you. I like your speaker stands, but the link doesn’t look like the ones in your video. Did you upgrade speaker stands too?
Thank you 😊! Yes, I did update the stands, I thought I’d updated the link. 😒😁😁 Can’t do it at the moment but I’ll do it later. Thanks for letting me know. 🙏🏾
Wow, can't believe a $10,000 home surround system sounds better than your other system. Simply astonishing.
I’m guessing that your joking but in all honesty more money doesn’t necessarily mean better sound.
Great speakers 👍🏻 I‘m building my home theater in some months and will use 3 RF7 II for LCR and wonder if i go for rs62ii or these arendal 1723 surrounds… any thoughts about it? Not sure what will work better for 2 rows - maybe add 4 side surrounds for each row 2…
I would stick with the klipsch brand for the sides and rears if you’re doing those upfront. That way you have a nice tonal match.
Having an extra set of surrounds for the 2nd/3rd row is not a bad idea but I would go for rears if possible before adding an additional set of surrounds speakers.
Ahhh right in the middle of the audio journey. Congrats. Klipsh is a decent starter speaker... but it is not a long term audiophile grade speaker IMHO. I would take the Take 5 Energy setup over the Klipsh. Happy for you bro... congrats on the upgrade.
Thanks! Serious question, not making fun or anything, why would you pick the Take Classics over the Klipsch? What do you like about them?
I have the 2016 reference from Klipsch and I still love them for movies! Looking to pick up the Heresy 3s for 2 ch. Soon! Idk if it's my hearing or my reciever or what but I never noticed any brightness. I've heard that enough that there must be something to it though.
It’s bright compared to other speakers but I don’t find it harsh which some folks complain about.
I might have missed it but what are you powering these with and are you running them all in small or large?
Great questions, I didn’t talk about either but I probably should have! 😂😂
I’m using my Monoprice Monolith 7 channel amp for power (up to 200 watts per channel) and Denon AVR X 4400h as the processor. They are typically set to small (crossover is either 60 or 80 Hz, I can’t remember which at the moment). I choose small because I mainly watch movies and let the subs do their job. But I do set them at large for music testing and comparison purposes.
I have Klipsch in my 9.2.4 system. Mine are all 6.5" drivers. Subs dual SVS 16's Love them. But even with them "matched" not always seamless transitions. That said I would go a different route just to change it up if I had the extra money.
I understand, it’s the seamless transition that made me switch more than anything else.
I noticed that you run the Monitors with both ports plugged. Do they sound better this way when using an Arendal subwoofer? And are you running the Center with only one port plugged as per the pic in 11:03?
I’m running them all with 1 port plugged because I found that yields the best extension but slightly tighter when listening to music. I have them crossed over at 60hz so I use the sub mainly for movies.
Nice upgrade man! That's one of the best aspects of our audio journey... The upgrades 😁 I can't wait to see how much you like these speakers! I am running the rp280s/450c/250s right now. I want to either hit the Klipsch thx line or look at the heritage line
I have the same speakers...but I use rp260s as rears in a 7.2.4 set up...not upgrading anytime soon...I use ATI class D amps.....
@@beenasty6980 nice setup man! I just bought a house so I plan to upgrade all my equipment when I can. I work for Klipsch so the employee discount is very nice to have 😁
Nice! How does the THX and Heritage lines compare to the RPs?
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist I haven't bought them yet! They're a future update plan. 😁
O ok, well let me know your thoughts once you get them.
Wow beautiful speakers! I started with Sony HTIB then upgraded to Def Tech satellites. Got a part time doing installs just to learn more about custom home theaters. I had heard some incredible systems (that I couldn’t possibly afford) and just had to upgrade eventually. Somewhere along the line I ended up with PSB (they sound great with music, theater not so much) then it was Monitor Audio Silvers. However, once I heard THX certified speakers I knew that was it. I realize that a lot of people have a negative opinion about THX as a brand. I blame Monster for that because they slapped the label on everything and THX went along with it ($$$) of course. I was able to pick up a full set of M&K 5000 which was the first THX set and was absolutely floored. The realism, dynamics and seamlessness were second to none. Unfortunately, they are a bit power hungry so they are in storage. I was later introduced to Atlantic Technology and found a complete 370 set for $500. Grabbed em and never looked back. Say what you want about the marketing/branding of THX, but I can say with confidence that I have yet to hear anything better for a dedicated home theater. Sorry for the long winded post! Enjoy the new speakers and enjoy the holidays!! 🤙🏻
I still kept my Klipsch RP 7.2.6 home theater, but I just bought these Arendal 1723s bookshelf’s with a SB-2000 sub for a 2.1 HiFi music set-up. Can’t wait to get these Arendals in !!
Nice! Let me know what you think.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist these Arendals are the best speakers I’ve owned! Thank you for the recommendation. I am happy and don’t think I’ll ever change again!
😆😆 happy to help!
Congrats! I bet that front stage sounds amazing. What you gonna do with the Klipsch?
I’m going to sell them in a few months. I have a few more comparisons I want to do before then.
Congrats and welcome to the Arendal family! I went with Arendal back in July 2022 (replacing my old Pioneer Andrew Jones set). Currently have the 1961 towers with monitors for surrounds and did opt for the 1723 S center. In my room, I found the 1723 S also paired really well with the 1961 towers as far as seamlessly transitioning and did test out one of the 1961 monitors as a "center" and found that I was glad to have gone with the bigger 1723 S. They make some great speakers though and like yourself like the neutrality and their ability to use more power. I'm actually waiting on a purchase to provide the front stage with some more wattage. Will you be applying for their Ambassador program? (I joined that as well). Congrats again!
Thanks! I'm happy to be here! 😁 The 1723S does pair well with the 1961 Towers. I didn't talk much about it in my 1961 review because I hadn't broken mine in yet but it works. Bigger, bolder sound.
To be honest, I haven't really thought about applying for the ambassodor program! I looked at it a few months ago when I was doing research for my initial review but haven't thought much about it since. 😁 Are you a member?
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist yes I am and the process is pretty simple and plus since you bought 5 speakers you also get a 5% discount if approved which is nice. They also even promoted some of my UA-cam videos too in addition to putting some info on their site about me which was part of the application.
O nice! I may just do that. 😁
i have Klipsch system 9.2, they sound awesome it sake my whole house
Nice! 😁
Congrats on the upgrade! What stands are you using for them?
Thank you! They are monoprice stands, they come in 2 or 3 heights which I like. You can find them here: amzn.to/3uTLQpb
So what do you do with the Klipsch speakers? That's always been a problem when I want to upgrade: What to do with the old stuff even though they work just fine.
I'm planning to sell them but I've also thought about putting them in a different room.
I wonder how this upgrade compares to the rf7iii speakers with matching center if you were to upgrade to those vs the speakers you chose. I’ve never actually heard the arendals
I’m not sure, I haven’t heard the R7 series but a lot of people really seem to like them.
With the speakers been THX have you got your crossover on the 80 Hz all speakers and the sub
Yes, I use 80Hz for the most part. but sometimes I adjust to 60hz for the fronts
Hi Cody, what is the size of your room? Trying to figure out what size room is needed for all 1723 monitor S bed layer.
It's L shaped and about 2300 cubic feet.
Thinking about the Perlisten system.
I’ve heard great things about their speakers, hopefully I’ll get a chance to try them.
Hello Cody, how do they compare in sound with the JBL HDI Line? I would like to know how the two stack up when listening to music. I am debating these vs the JBL HDI 3600 or 3800? I myself will be upgrading from Klipsch RP280FA and RP504C I purchased in 2016 as well. I will be running then with newly purchased Emotiva XPA 9 GEN3 and Basx A300.
Thanks

I think the JBL will work best for music because it has a bit more depth to image compared to the Arendals. Since you’re already familiar with the klipsch sound I think you’ll like the JBL even more. It’s not as bright and more refined with quieter cabinets.
@@HomeTheaterHobbyist what do you think would be the difference in price between Arendal and the JBL line?
I recently replaced my living room RP-8000F for Martin Logan Foundation F2. Both are great speakers. In my opinion, the Martin Logan are a step above the Klipsch.
