Watch out for sensitivity of Klipsch - it is measured differently than other speaker manufacturers do. So, the comparable sensitivity is not as high as Klipsch states.
One on the reasons why I don't buy their products. Manufacturers also lie on the impedance... It's best to double check with 3rd party measurements, if possible.
Great video thanks! My recommendation is to buy the best KEF speakers you can because they usually have good sound dispersion + an AVR that has 2+ independent subwoofer outputs so you can set delays correctly + the best SVS subwoofer you can afford. Later, buy another identical subwoofer to have a good bass response across a big seating area 😎

JJ aka Kimisdad I have an all SVS speaker System I have Ultra Towers, Ultra Center Channel, Ultra Surrounds and Ultra Bookshelf for the back Surrounds, 4 Prime Elevation for my Height Speakers my Sub is a PB16 4000. I find for @ my comfort level price this is the Ultimate Home Theater Music lover system. Klipsch does not measure sensitivity as other makers. They almost always as over stated by 4-6db, while the are still highly sensitive they typically are really in the 92db range.
Thanks for watching! We have a similar open-concept layout in our home and we're really happy with the Aperion Audio Novus speakers that we've reviewed in previous videos. Some speakers like the Novus 6T towers for front left and right, Novus 5C center channel and 5B bookshelves make for a really nice sounding set that don't take up a lot of room. We would probably add two Bravus 12D subwoofers to really get as much impact as possible, and maybe a few of their Clearus in-ceiling ATMOS speakers or A5 height modules if you don't want to cut holes in your ceiling. At this point depending on how many speakers you get and how much you're willing to spend on the receiver, you could get a mid-high level 9.2 or 11.2 channel ATMOS receiver from manufacturers like DENON or Marantz, or even some of the new Onkyos seem pretty good. Of course you also have your boutique brands like Anthem, Emotiva if you want seperate amps and processor, and stuff like that. These speakers are just what we use, but there are so many out there and there are so many variables that it's not possible for us to list them all here! We can also highly recommend something like the Sony X900H 85" TV (which we have) or the new updated XR series Sony X90J if you don't want to spend OLED money on a really good looking LCD TV. Hope this helps & we appreciate the comment!
Thanks for the very informative video. The audio was clear and a consistent volume, however the constant zomm in and zoom out was very annoying. Please consider that for future videos.
I'm not sure why but no one seems to address 4 ohm vs 8 ohm speakers, are there any pros and cons to each one? Do they sound the same? Why are car audio speakers always 4 ohms?
Thanks for watching! The biggest difference you'll get between a 4 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm speaker is power. Using Ohm's law, we know that impedance will tell us how much current will flow through a conductor at a certain voltage - so in theory, having half the impedance at the SAME voltage will allow twice the amount of current flow. Basically this means a speaker with half the impedance will be able to use twice the power of the amplifier (and this is why amps usually have wattage ratings for 8 ohms, 4 ohms, and so on). Whether or not this makes a difference in sound quality is highly debated among speaker designers and audiophiles! And typically, car audio speakers are always 4 ohms for this same reason. All of the electronics in your car will usually run at 12 volts DC (higher current for equivalent wattage), rather than 120 volts AC (lower current for equivalent wattage). At half the impedance you get 'twice the wattage' so that's why the speakers are always 4 ohms. Hope this helps to clear things up!
Is there an advantage for systems with different impedance ratings? For instance, I suspect an 8ohm speaker would have less white noise than the 4ohms because I assume it takes more power to get sound from an 8ohm setup. The noise floor might get through the 4ohms setup whereas not as much in the 8ohm setup. But that MY theory and I have nothing to back that up. Can you clarify why different impedance ratings would or would not be preferable?
Unfortunately, some companies fudge their numbers. And your equipment and especially your room can have a big impact on how speakers sound. I use Aerial Acoustics speakers, a little known company out of Massachusetts. Incredible speakers.
Thanks for watching and great suggestion! We'll see if we can come up with enough information on the subject to make a video about it in the near future.
Polk was my first real setup and was quite impressed by the T series 5.2 setup i had. I now have klipsch reference premier system and highly recommend if you have the money. Wouldn't think going from polk to klipch reference series would have been a big difference as the polk system impressed me for the price
I can't decide wheat to choose 8 ohms or 6 ohms. IMO. 8ohm speaker should be better with deeper sounds (bass) but more silent than 6ohm? I'm I misunderstand it? How to choose? I prefer deep basses.
Thanks for watching - if you're looking at options around the $500 mark that would match this system well, we feel that the Onkyo TX-NR6050 is your best bet right now - check out our review here; ua-cam.com/video/eZkyuy97-Qo/v-deo.html Hope this helps :)
That's the hope! Hopefully people can get some helpful insight into what they need to be looking for in any new set of speakers. Thank you very much for watching Barrett!! 😀
Really really excellent video. very well organized and presented . The information is very well suited to the novice and has given me the confidence to know what to look for , prior to listening .
Thanks for watching! It really means a lot to us and we're glad that you feel confident searching for the perfect speakers. Let us know if you need anything else :)
Hello TGT, I was planning on purchasing a complete set of SVS Ultra (Front Left, Center, Front Right, and Rear Surrounds) for my home theater. What would be a similar setup with Aperian speakers? Thank you and God bless you!
Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words!! We believe that the Aperion Audio Verus 5.0 system would be a similar match to the Ultra line, but unfortunately we haven't had the opportunity to listen to either system so we can't comment on their sound quality. www.aperionaudio.com/collections/verus-speakers/products/verus-iii-grand-tower-5-0-7-0 Hope this helps!
I've heard they're very good and they have a strong following, but personally, it's been a long time since I've heard any Paradigms. Thanks for watching!
I just picked up a set of Klipsch Dolby Atmos speakers 5.0.2 $899.99 with the their Klipsch R-12SW sub for $169.99 from Costco. I can't believe I could get a Klipsch Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 HT speaker system for around $1070. I plan to add more speakers later maybe two Klipsch surround sound speakers, another sub, and two more Atmos speakers. I'm going with 7.2.4 future setup with a Denon AVR-X6700H. On another note I do love Bowers & Wilkins speakers, I may upgrade with their speakers in the future.
Hey Rich, I can’t find a decent review on that $899 set. Only feedback on forums, but they are very critical. What’s your experience so far? I am extremely curious about built in atmos. 🤔
Thanks for watching guys! We'll be reviewing the $899 Klipsch 5.0.2 system from Costco in the near future along with the Denon AVR-S750H. We're looking forward to seeing how it sounds at such a great price!
@@TwoGuyzTech that would be amazing. I can’t find a reliable feedback on these speakers. For the price I would think it’s a great deal but I am no audiophile. I just want a kick ass home theater.
I owned a pair of the Klipsch R-12SW front firing subs. I wasn’t impressed at all. The bass was weak and boomy. They are 200W RMS/400W Peak. I ended up selling them and buying a pair of the Klipsch Sub12HGB down firing subs. These are rated at 300W RMS/650W Peak. It’s like night and day. These down firing subs shake my house down.
I just switched to Costco’s Onkyo tx nr6050 after to dead Denon 760. Within the last year. I was thinking of getting these speakers which are on sale to replace my 7.1 Polk speakers I bought in 2006. I know if I hook up the upward firing speakers I loose my back surround sound speakers. Which I enjoy. My question is there a way to have those still plugged in along with the upward speakers, and just change the settings to either the newer Dolby speakers or the back surround speakers. Depending on the content I am watching? And frankly right now I have much more content 7.1 movies than the newer speakers. Thanks for the info.
have you had a chance to check out the Genelec audio speakers that are active speakersystem? I definetly recommend those speakers to be rewied if you guys get the chance to do it
Nice detailed explanations, i mostly would like to have a dolby atmos set up mainly for music, i love warm sound signature, full sounding bass, deep extended bass, crisp, immersive, clear mids & highs, are sealed or ported subwoofers better for my choices above, what are there pros & cons?
Hi i have 19ft X 14 ft room i am planing to get B&W formation series the DUO pair, WEDGE Pair , Formation bar and sub woofer is this good enough for a room of that size
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, we're not familiar with those speakers, but judging by the specs they should be more than enough for a room that size depending on the volume you prefer. Hope this helps!
Hi, Thinking about upgrading my living room 5.1 system to SVS, current system is based around Cambridge Soundworks speakers I got many, many years ago. Company is now out of business. Looking at upgrading to the SVS Prime Tower Surround plus the SB-2000 Pro subwoofer. Though half contemplating a dual SB-1000 Pro subwoofer setup. Been reading a lot about dual subwoofer setups of late. Appreciated any feedback. Thanks.
Hi and Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we haven't had the chance to review the Prime towers or the SB-2000 Pro. We have reviewed the Prime book shelves and the SB-1000 non pro version and we feel these are a great speakers for the price. We always recommend going dual subs if your budget permits. Hope this helps😀
Very helpful video! Regarding speaker stand height, what's your opinion on the 'ideal' height (is there such a thing) - is it aligned with the conventional wisdom of tweeter height at ear level? I've watched a few videos and some suggest placing it higher than ear-level, and there's also a small minority that advocate for below ear level. I am looking at the Q150 speakers - and the manual for the Q150 suggests 18" - 24" (45-60cm) speaker stands - that seems awfully low and would be below ear level if I sit on my (or any conventional) couch. But the KEF designers/engineers surely must have put this in the manual for a reason? Does this mean they designed or voiced the Q150s in a way that aligns with 18" - 24" and therefore it would be prudent to strictly stick to getting stands within 18 - 24"? If not, should I go with 28" or 32" inch? 32" would be putting it at or just 1" above ear level I'd say, but given how conservative KEF were in their manual, I was wondering whether 28" would be a better choice too... Any advice here would be so helpful! Thank you. Any advice here would be so helpful! Thank you.
Thanks for watching! We always recommend setting your speakers to ear level, with the exception of back surrounds - which you might want to put a little higher to pass the backs of any chairs etc. that could interfere with the sound. If you're not absolutely sure with the KEF recommendations for speaker height, we would say to try experimenting with both heights to find what sounds best to you. As long as the tweeters look like they're at ear level at a comfortable, reclined/seated position, and they sound good, that's probably your best bet. Hope this helps! :)
*BEST THING TO DO FOR HOME AUTO SYSTEM IS , JUST BUY CAR AUTO SYSTEM AND USE IT FOR HOME USE. HOME AUTO USE HIGHER OHMS LIKE 6 OR 8 OHMS. CAR AUTO IS 4 TO 1 OHMS. WHICH MEANS CAR AUTO WILL HAVE I GREATER PERFORMANCE. I INSTALLED 2 PIONEER 12 INCH SUBWOOFERS WITH HOMEMADE BOXES TO MY HOME THEATER SYSTEM. MY HOME THEATER SYSTEM HAS 17 SPEAKERS IN TOTAL. THE 12" SUBS CAN BE HEARD FROM 100 YARD AWAY WITH MY DOORS AND WINDOWS CLOSED. IT LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE MY APARTMENT COMPLEX IS ABOUT TO COLAPSE FROM THE ENORMOUS BASS BOOMING. THE POLICE SHOW UP TO MY PLACE ALOT.*
Thanks for watching! They're both great systems, but we feel that for a little less money, the SVS Prime 5.1 system is the way to go. The SB-1000 subwoofer that's included with the system blends incredibly well with the Satellite speakers and overall it has a smoother, more pleasing sound than the RSL.
Hi. I've got my front left and right, a center speaker and a SVS subwoofer. On my avr it's got "channel levels", I have no idea what to set them at. Any advice would be appreciated.
A test tone should play when you're adjusting the channel levels, and you need to use that to try adjusting all the speakers so they sound like they're playing at the same volume level from your listening position. Hope this helps & thanks for watching!
What would you would give most realistic sound for home theater a klipsch rf 7iii or svs ultra towers I’m Saving for either one just because I hear they give the best value for the money. I just don’t know which to choose I keep looking at klipsch because they don’t need a crazy amount of juice to start off a theater journey.
Thanks for watching! As much as we would love to be able to answer this question, we unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to review either one of the speakers you mentioned, so it wouldn't be completely honest for us to recommend one over the other. With that said, we do like the sound of SVS speakers in general! On the other hand, the Klipsch are certainly more efficient as you mentioned. Our buddy Barrett over at Spec of Tech had somewhat similar Klipsch RP8000F speakers that he compared to the SVS Ultra Towers in this video; ua-cam.com/video/oa8Lv8--0j8/v-deo.html Hope this helps!
@@TwoGuyzTech ya I’m sorry I saw the whole Vid and you said you haven’t been able to test either yeat I sort of jumped the gun lol my bad on that one . but ya I love your content and will definitly come By to watch and I always respect ya opinion and thoughts. Ok I have a question a friend of mine is selling me a pair of 7 year old B&W 630s for $900 is that a good deal? or should I but a pair of brand new Polk S60s for $800.
Thanks for watching! Honestly, we don't have any idea how much those speakers are worth, or more importantly how they sound. Our advice would be to listen to both and make your decision that way. Hope this helps!! :)
Thanks for watching! If you're referring to the new Novus 6T speakers, then yes! Aperion is planning on sending us a pair so we can share our thoughts with you guys, so keep your eye out for that video! 😀
@@TwoGuyzTech I’m sure it will man. It’s funny I was going to do something similar. I did one on projectors last week, I was going to work my way round the theater but now I’ll just link to your video LoL!!
Hi bro, whats your opinion of speakers made by Boston Acoustics in general? I dont hear much about this brand nowadays. I did own a Boston Soundware XS though
Thanks for watching! I have an old pair of Boston HD7 speakers in the garage and I really enjoy them, even 30 years after buying them new - but we haven't listened to any of their new models recently.
@@TwoGuyzTech Interesting. If I am not wrong, I believe those were made in USA? Mine are made in China and they are not too bad. But the sub woofer gave me a lot of problems. I finally replaced it with Jamo J10!
Boston’s aren’t made anymore. I believe sound United shut them down soon after they acquired d&m favoring Polk and definitive technology. I’m still using my Boston acoustic micro 80’s with the included 7” sub. However I recently upgraded the center channel with an RSL cg25. Major upgrade with almost no tonal matching issues. Will upgrade the fronts to RSL cg5’s and get dual speedwoofers but will keep the Boston’s for surrounds and heights or use them in a 2.1 setup.
No love for JBL I guess? I’ve got the Northridge E series for center and rear, along with the ES series for the front tower. I wonder how those compare to the newer klipsch sold at Costco.
Hey man please little help svs prime tower or klipsh rp 8000f are better speakers for movies also my room is 16 square metres so i have to take floorstanders speaker or bookself s because i want the best cinematic sound not just a good sound waiting your unswer thank you!!!!
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we haven't heard either of those speakers - but, we have reviewed some other SVS speakers that use the same tweeters as the Prime Towers and we've loved the way they sound. On the other hand, judging by the Klipsch speakers that we've heard in the past, we're not really huge fans of the horn tweeters that Klipsch uses. The best thing to do is see if you can find a place that will allow you to demo both pairs of speakers so you can determine which you like better - it's also worth mentioning that SVS allows you to take advantage of their 45-day in-home trial period, while Klipsch doesn't offer the same sort of trial period. Hope this helps!
@@kuriakos36 With SVS, you can order as many speakers as you want, and if you don't like them, you can get all of your money back so long as you initiate the return within 45 days! Hope this helps! :)
@@TwoGuyzTech ohh something I forgot to mention i am from Greece so the returning and the order could they be the same🤔🙃!?? And if we say you dont like the speakers they returning your money back?
Any feedback on Phase/MSE Audio’s Darts 660 Freestanding 5.1 package? I ask this because its a very pricey investment it retail about 24000$$ USD in India 29000$$ to 30000$$ USD for Dolby Atmos package 48000$$USD. Will it be a good investment ?
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we've never heard these speakers so we can't really comment. For this amount of money you should have a ton of options for great speakers like Vandersteens, Martin Logan ESLs, etc. Check with a local retailer if possible. 😀
Very happy to hear you didn't mention Polk (well, you did briefly)....a totally ubiquitous speaker that waaaay too many ppl gravitate to, which is why I'd personally never ever purchase (same can be said for Klipsch too)
Thanks for watching and we appreciate both of your guys' input! This is the exact reason why we always recommend people audition speakers BEFORE they buy. As reviewers we try to hold our reservations for/against certain brands until we actually review their products, which is why we didn't talk about either brand very long. But, that's also the beauty of having so many different companies making speakers - there's a speaker for everybody!
I’m in the Market for a new surround sound for home and I haven’t heard of three quarters of the companies with good reviews. The ones I have heard of are very mediocre. It’s very surprising so far. But I’m not going to hand over good money to buy buy junk.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we don't have any B&W speakers to compare to the other brands, as they all make speakers in different price ranges for different use cases that are hard to compare.
Thanks for watching! It looks like those speakers would be a good match to that receiver based on the wattage and sensitivity specifications. Hope this helps!
You must live in the city, try living in rural America and finding a store that carries speakers to "check out first" the closest store to me that carries decent speakers is about 200 miles away. All you'll find here is the crap Walmart carries inhouse and that not much more than a couple of cheap sets of computer speakers.
With the prices of some speakers these days, I'm wondering why people dont use pro audio speakers like used on stage. I am a pro musician and believe me when I say the sound is the most important thing to me. I guarantee you can get incredible sound for around 600. for your L/R speakers and another 6-800. for a sub and you would be able to entertain the entire neighborhood with the amount of volume you can get.
Thanks for watching! With so many speaker manufacturers, you're bound to find speakers with similar designs. We're not sure what SVS took inspiration from when designing theirs but it certainly is an interesting thing to think about!
New sub here. Very good info. Ever worked on putting a Dolby Atmos system in a vehicle? Specifically a custom van build? I understand that it would need to be run off of 110 and not 12 volt.
Thank you so much for watching and for your support!! Unfortunately, we've never tried something like that but it does seem like a very cool idea. You certainly wouldn't need as much power in a smaller volume like a van, so a lower power receiver like the Yamaha TSR-700 which we just reviewed on our channel might fit the bill. Be sure to use a pure sine wave inverter rather than a regular/cheap 12v to 110v inverter to avoid any kind of weird distortion (cheap inverters don't make pure sine waves which can reak havoc on the sound quality from your receiver). Keep us posted on this project!! Sounds super cool man! 😀
Great video man. I'm kinda wrestling with this now. I have RSL CG23 LCR/CG3 surrounds. I'm thinking of moving up to the CG5 line but they are like 86 sensitivity so I'm also looking at higher sensitive speakers like the Ascend acoustics CMT 340s 92 db sensitivity. Then I started looking at the JBL Studio 570s which is 88 db sensitivity. I might be overthinking things with all this. I have a really great Parasound amp with plenty of power.
If you've got a Parasound amp, 2dB lower sensitivity shouldn't be an issue!! ;) We've never heard the JBLs personally but we've heard they're pretty good. We did enjoy the time we had with the CG5s. They are quite good speakers, but break-in is definitely necessary with them so make sure to run them for a while before critically listening. Thanks for watching as always :)
@@TwoGuyzTech thank you, decisions to make. I know right decisions. I love RSL for their mom and pop feel. JBL is quite the opposite being the biggest speaker manufacturer in the world. 🤣
Do you see any advantage to speakers with nominal impedance at 4 ohms vs 6 vs 8? It seems that most AVRs these days have a 6 or 8 ohm rating Logan had to have added the thunder. Seems up his alley. Fun! And the echo. Fun as well! Subtle, but it adds character. SVS is a great company. I cannot believe how hard their subwoofers kick. I look forward to upgrading soon. The PB-2000 kick my chest - I can’t imagine their larger subwoofers 🔊 Good video. Thanks for the info!
Yep, the thunder and echo was me!! 😉 With impedance it definitely depends. There's a big long debate to be had with sound quality on 4 vs 8 ohm, but basically you end up being able to get more power out of the amplifier. Ohm's law says that you can use impedance to figure out current at a given voltage - so if you have half the impedance at the same voltage, you get TWICE the current - and this is why amps have different wattage ratings for different impedance levels. SVS is awesome!! We completely agree. Great products at a great price. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades man!! Thank you very much for watching Matt!
Pretty good video although it’s laughable that you reference Klipsch with their high sensitivity. Klipsch is well known for fudging the sensitivity numbers of their speakers. I wouldn’t reference Klipsch if I was going to talk about a manufacturer that has high sensitivity speakers.
Virtually everyone fudges their numbers on virtually everything when it comes to this hobby. Like everything, you take it with a grain of salt. It IS fair to say Klipsch are more sensitive than many other speaker producers, so it's kind of a moot thing to get hung up on
@@Olafdaschneemann Don't know what your point is by trying to say all manufacturers fudge something about something. All speaker manufacturers don't falsify their sensitivity ratings like Klipsch. In fact, Klipsch is so bad at exaggerating the sensitivity numbers, that it's mostly comical now. People shouldn't believe Klipsch sensitivity ratings when looking at their speakers. You and I may know what Klipsch does, but there are lots of other people that see these videos that do not know that.
I think people get a little too hung up, on how much power they need, in the early 1980's I was running a pair of Wharfedale E70's with a sensitivity of around 92db, powered by a Yamaha receiver putting out 50 wpc. they shook my walls, (that's in a UK brick built home) had parties with over 100 people and they performed like champs. So back to the future, I'm currently running a Klipsch front soundstage. powered by a external 140w Emotiva BasX A3 amp. it is more than enough, as Michal Caine famously said in the original Italian Job, "You're only supposed the blow the bloody doors off". have fun and enjoy your home theatre experience.

What would you do in an open floor plan with living room kitchen dining room. $10,000 budget
@@TwoGuyzTech cheers buddy for the very in detailed reply, top man!
Thank you brother for the video. Really informative. Can u do something related to timber matching.
Good to hear! We tested the Klipsch Reference theater pack as well, pretty amazing for the price. Enjoy it!! Thanks for watching :)
I can't decide wheat to choose 8 ohms or 6 ohms. IMO. 8ohm speaker should be better with deeper sounds (bass) but more silent than 6ohm? I'm I misunderstand it? How to choose? I prefer deep basses.
What is the recommended reciever that will accommodate klispch speskers?

Hello TGT, I was planning on purchasing a complete set of SVS Ultra (Front Left, Center, Front Right, and Rear Surrounds) for my home theater. What would be a similar setup with Aperian speakers? Thank you and God bless you!

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOOT PARADIGM?
I definetly recommend those speakers to be rewied if you guys get the chance to do it
No we haven't but they look interesting, maybe someday we will get the chance to review them. Thanks for watching!

You guys should definitely get a pair of polk signature s50,s55,60!! Do a review on them!!

THE POLICE SHOW UP TO MY PLACE ALOT.*
~$1000 would u go svs or rsl?

I thought Boston Acoustic shut down years ago..? I had some of the car audio gear 10- 15 or so years ago and it was pretty good..

How do the RSl or SVS speakers compare to B&W speakers? Bowers & Wilkens

You must live in the city, try living in rural America and finding a store that carries speakers to "check out first" the closest store to me that carries decent speakers is about 200 miles away. All you'll find here is the crap Walmart carries inhouse and that not much more than a couple of cheap sets of computer speakers.

@@TwoGuyzTech absolutely. I’ve had a lot going on but I’m getting back now.
With the prices of some speakers these days, I'm wondering why people dont use pro audio speakers like used on stage.

I guarantee you can get incredible sound for around 600. for your L/R speakers and another 6-800. for a sub and you would be able to entertain the entire neighborhood with the amount of volume you can get.
Is it a coincidence that SVS speakers have a similar design as DALI and that the logo also has a similar style? Is it just a coincidence or?

@@TwoGuyzTech Thanks much!
If you've got a Parasound amp, 2dB lower sensitivity shouldn't be an issue!! ;)
We've never heard the JBLs personally but we've heard they're pretty good.
It seems that most AVRs these days have a 6 or 8 ohm rating
Logan had to have added the thunder. Seems up his alley. Fun! And the echo. Fun as well! Subtle, but it adds character.
SVS is a great company. I cannot believe how hard their subwoofers kick. I look forward to upgrading soon. The PB-2000 kick my chest - I can’t imagine their larger subwoofers 🔊
Good video. Thanks for the info!
Yep, the thunder and echo was me!! 😉
With impedance it definitely depends.
Thank you very much for watching Matt!
thanks 👍🏻
No problem! Thanks for watching 👍
