That circuit simulation stuff looks so cool, nice job working that into the project.
omg. I also do some tabletop photos that require both hands. I would start a video recording on my camera and then go back to holding the part with both hands, let it record for 5 seconds and then I'd then take a screengrab from the footage. The foot pedal is SO much more cool and easy! Thanks!

If you have autofocus enabled, it does focus before triggering the shutter (or video start, depending on whether you're in photo or video mode). Basically it does everything the shutter button does.
Cool, I can imagine a separate focus pedal being useful though, you could stand in the right place and set the focus, and it wouldn't move if focus was on manual. Depends on what your needs are I guess.
Next version could you offset the resistors more to avoid the big lumps? Came from Alex too I love your channel!

Great video Becky! Is this easy to do if you wanted to use a latch button, and put it inside a wooden handle, to trigger the GH5 for video? I seem to remember you said that from the first foot pedal shutter tutorial video if you use a stereo jack with three poles it triggers just the video record function?
This is a very easy project. If you are in video mode then the pedal triggers recording. It's true there is a half press you can trigger too. I can't remember the specifics. See my tutorial for a circuit diagram and Tinkercad simulation.

I've been looking for this! One question...I cannot find a suitable button switch that is both momentary and allows for the half press. Any ideas?

If you are trying to make exact resistor combos you should try this site: qsl.net/in3otd/parallr.html It will tell you the values to use in parallel or series and how close they will be to your idea value. Great little hack!

I'm not an expert but I don't think those camera have a port for a wired remote at all.

is this method compatible with only GH5 Camera ?
Works with all Panasonic GH cameras, and most other brands can be made to work with a simpler circuit not involving any resistors.
@@BeckyStern thank you I need capture and focusing both functions to work with this. If I do the focusing part as well as in the Cct may I know that zoom in and zoom out both functions work with this ?
