    This is so smart.
    I saw the Part 1 and I thought you used e-ink display.
    And its a PAPER. This is how DIY videos should be. Low cost materials but the output should look like a million bucks.

      Simon made me buy a 3D printer, Becky showed me how to make a Subscribe Counter and this is the result, like they two made a baby

    Just got the parts to make this. Great project. Will be a neat wall piece for my garage. Subscribed. :) Adafruit sells the backpack and seven segment display as a single product now, "Adafruit 0.56" 4-Digit 7-Segment Display w/I2C Backpack - White". There is also a 1.2" version but it includes two extra time dots at the beginning so the 1.2" is more for time keeping and clocks than numerical displays. 1.2" only comes in red or yellow and the .56" comes in a wider variety of colors. Thanks for all the links and making it an easy to follow project.

      The one on my wall still works, but gives the rounded count since the API change

    OMG This is the coolest! I want to make one so badly now. When you have as few subscribers as we do, every single new one is like a celebration. Seeing it live on the wall would be so fun.

    Another great use of Brian's library! If you are splitting the numbers up, are you able to centre align them too??

    • @BeckyStern
      @BeckyStern  6 років тому +2

      Yes, change the divide by/modulo number from 10000 to 1000 to move the number one digit to the left, for example.

    I already made it. It was fantastic. The only problem I have is that after a power cut, the ESP8266 turns on again, but everything remains at "00000000". In order for the figures to appear again, I have to restart the Router. Any solution to this problem? Thank you

    also, is there a way to make it so that there are zeros before the subscriber count so that the number doesnt look so off-set?

    • @BeckyStern
      @BeckyStern  6 років тому

      Yep, dig into the code and you'll see how the zero padding can be applied to the leading digits too.

    Hello @Becky! I really liked this toturial video! It's inspired me to make my own social counter. I have also some upgrade ideas. It would be great to install a web server to the device where users can friendly configure the wifi and add the API keys. Unfortunately I'm a big noob to do these upgrades by myself. Can you may give me some advices how should I start it? Thanks a lot!!!

    • @BeckyStern
      @BeckyStern  6 років тому

      At the tutorial link in the description, you'll find a version of the code that uses the wifimanager library to make the network settings browser-configurable. I have no plans to make the yt channel settings configurable outside of the Arduino code.

    Does this project still work now that youtube doesn't display the exact amount of subscribers anymore?

    • @BeckyStern

      It does, but it displays the rounded count

    • @Kaister
      @Kaister 5 років тому +1

      @@BeckyStern Would it be possible to get the exact amount from the UA-cam Studio?

    Hi! I’m new to your channel and a fellow New Yorker, teaching in Queens, but living in Long Island. I have next to zero experience with this kind of stuff, so little in fact, that I didn’t understand 95% of the vocabulary you used in explaining this awesome project. Could I possibly commission you to build me the hardware for this build? In at 14.5k subs right now, and am finding channel growth as a wonderful motivator. Please advise.

    • @BeckyStern
      @BeckyStern  3 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for your interest, but I'm not building these on commission-- too much of a time suck away from building new projects. You can get this clock that can act as a counter with the available app: store.lametric.com/products/lametric?variant=34703088974
