Man 10/10 review better than 99%of mmo reviewers you actually played that game and learned a decent amount. Instead of giving up the second you found any frustration. Or saw that it wasn’t exactly like wow
@@CapnCrunchESO a good first step to this game is picking one facet that you want to learn, look at videos on it, do missions that teach it and even reach out and talk to someone in game who would be willing to explain some of the tricks of the trade. Easy and cheap first steps are things like mining (especially when considering the skills needed to do these tasks - lower time requirement).
i used to live in new eden. ceo of a 80+ pilot corp doing industrial stuff in null sec and joining big fleets fighting enemy corps and allis. eve is still one of my all time favs.
I loved iot till the BIG fights just became a total lag fest where 1 second your flying around... the next second youre dead and you literally have no idea how or why.. you never saw it happen because the game would lag so badly...they tried to fix it a little back.. but it really didnt..
200 hours and only just scratched the surface..... I've been playing for 20 YEARS and feel like I've only just scratched the surface..... Great game if you can stick with it. The secret is to find a group to join, once you do that then everything opens up.
One thing I feel you glossed over is how you are not safe anywhere in space. The space police will destroy other players ships if they attack you for no reason but they may not arrive in time to save your ship. So, by all means, chill out mining in high-security space but never, ever presume you are safe. There is a large percentage of players who take great fun from destroying mining ships. And please don't watch Netflix whilst mining, you are a sitting duck. The example I've used applies to whatever you are doing in Eve, you are NEVER safe. That's what makes the game so intense. Great video nevertheless, I wish you luck o7.
Thx for the review. I played Eve somewhat hardcore multi-boxing 10 years ago (wormhole business, nullsec warfare) and quitted to sort out my life. Those were some good times. Kind of shocked the UI did not progress at all. More fancy environment graphics for sure but it still looks like an excel sheet with billions of tiny sub menus.😅
Why change what is so good to begin with? One thing that always annoys me is Devs changing my keys on my phone app from square edged to rounded, then back then smaller, then green.... It's a phone. Knock it off! LOL
🤔 A thoughtful, intelligent, well-reasoned, ego-free, open-minded game review on UA-cam. Not sure how to take that Cap. 😉 Outstanding video, sir! Me, it's been ages since I played but I like what they've done with the place. Yet I see that Jita remains the central trade hub. Loved Eve. It's a true MMO. But I'm a classic Bartle-type socializer and when my friends left... Unlike you I don't like spending hours relaxing on my own in a game world. But that's just me. Yet I am so burned out on ESO...all of us have a lifecycle in any game though. No MMO is really *bad.*
As a person that plays eve 3 years now, i really like ur video. U explaint a ton of things and gave a guideline which even experienced eve players and content creators fail to do so in a understandable way for not eve players. Can definetly recommend joining a (good) corp tho. Also to the t2 part/omega part t2 isnt always better but more specialised ^^
Appreciate that! And the funny thing is I only put this review out a few days ago and I’ve already learned so much more! I’ll have to make a follow up video at some point.
@@CapnCrunchESO also If Ur looking for a Corp i can recommend knock knock -- NS newbies groups of init. Tons of content but also Lot of Options to explore things urself
I'm thinking about coming back. I got busy last October after playing for about 6 months. I found the best way to make casual friends was to join mining groups. Eventually you'll find cool folks that are all hanging out chatting about news, world events, movies and tv, whatever. Meanwhile you can mine like madman because good groups will almost always have some defense for the group. I joined a corp at one point but really didn't like to be bugged by people to get more involved. If you're a hard working adult then it's a tricky game because of how much time you'll spend without realizing it. Especially planning ship fits and future fits. I really enjoy it but sheeez it's involved.
if you do you would be welcome to join my corp. No interaction needed but there is a low tax rate. I'll throw you some hulls to get you roling. corp is same name as my YT username
So true...my wife always told everyone I had a mistress - Eve. Spent countless hours in it. I have so many ships and ISK it is ridiculous. Should really go back on and give it away at least.
I played the game for about 5 or 6 months a few years ago but gave up because I didn't meet anyone to play with and I just continuously got killed and killed and killed and didn't have enough income to make up for the lost ships. I've started thinking about Eve again and this video was pretty helpful. Several of the things I remember but I never did finish alot of the things you dug into so maybe it's worth an Alpha trial to see if renewing all my Omega skills will be worth while. GREAT review! Thanks for playing it and giving honest and accurate feedback.
Back in 2013 I spent 2 hours per day mining with Retrievers and Procurers for the first 6 months, and only then I was able to fit a Brick-Orca + maxed out drones for further business, and a Vexor to get back at gankers. The game begins to start after 6 months... or even later 😏
@@Franka.1966 man, that's a way to do it. But very slow. You could have had an orca within like a week or so by joining a group, learning how to make isk in nullsec exploration and combat sites, nullsec mining when you feel lazy. New players can be in nullsec too, and its honestly safer to mine there instead of highsec lol
I've played since 2009 and wanted to add context to 2 of the cash shop things. 1. For most of the game's life, you couldn't buy skill points at all. The in game timer to train skills was originally designed *without* microtransactions in mind. The reason for this is that it forced players to specialize to some extent. You can't do everything, and are forced to work with other players in one way or another. You can still play solo, but you still have to buy things from other players. 2. The ability to purchase in game money with IRL money was actually originally introduced to combat real money trading, and to somewhat equalize the advantage of having multiple accounts. As an example, if you're really good at the game and make tons of money, you're able to buy plex from another player, which then pays for your subscription. Eve literally allows you to pay for the monthly fee with in game money, by letting someone else pay it for you(in exchange for in game money). So while it seems initially pay to win(and it kind of is), it actually goes the other way where people who are good at the game can get multiple accounts for free. Also people who spend IRL money to buy expensive ships usually lose them in a spectacular fashion, since they "jumped ahead" of the usual progression. Basically the monetization stuff is weirdly fair, and not at all pay to win.
Skill trading has been in the game since almost the start. But the way to do it before was character transfers from the character bazaar. Made my first 10b from the bazaar.
never a bad time to start play eve. its a great social game, and no other games out there gives you the kind of adrenaline rushes you get in this one when you get into pvp and actually risk loosing stuff. you can do alot of PVE content, but it is all based around PVP, witch is the main drive for the game.
Eve is a terrible game and you should not play it. Why? 1. outdated mechanics 2. Terrible Server tick 3. Grinding isk takes way to long and is worse than working irl 4. Metal involves like 5 ships, if you skilled anything else you wont be able to play properly 5. Skillsystem is straight up bullshit, takes way to long to do anything worthwhile 6. Did I mention that pvp is terrible? Think about playing a game with atleast 2000ms, that's the eve experience I could go on about multiboxing being encouraged (holy fking shit) local existing, space to big for no reason etc.
@@babbaderbozz sry this post just tell me you dont know anything at all about EVE online. yes, the servers can be bit buggy sometimes, but the pvp system and the different ships in the game are extreamly well balanced. the ping only makes bit of a difference in grab face of the fight, meaning the start. anything else are just about using your modules properly witch dont require any sort of good ping at all. yes, getting skills to do anything for sure takes a long time, but even a 1 month old pilot in a t1 ship can turn the tide of a battle, and someone in a 30 mill t1 cruiser can easily take down someone in a 1.5 bill t3 cruiser. when it comes to pvp, i only have a select few ships i use, and thats how it should be done. really learn the ship you can fly, before starting getting into anything else. for any cruiser pvp i use a pilgrim or a curse in 90% of the fights, and a legion in the rest. for killing frigates i use my pacifier 95% of the time, and an assult frigate in the rest. have a select few other types of ships i use in some rare occasions aswell, but my ooint is that you dont need 100 mill SP in order to be an efficient pvp pilot and have funn with it. infact we have a guy in the corp that have over 300 mill SP and can fly more or less all ships in the game with almost perfect skills, but he is a clueless moron that cant kill anything on his own. regarding making isk, you have a bunch of people sitting in ventures in high sec mining veldspar. ofc it takes long time to earn isk. is all about what you make out of it, and how risk you willing to take, and where you live. im running 3 accounts, and if i sitt where i live out in NS and do merxocit mining, i make around 550 mill an hour, witch im quite happy with. you can also run t6 abyssal sites making you 500 mill an hour on 1 toon, but that for most part require a 5-6 bill gila and an experienced pilot, and you loose your ship if you mess up. carrier ratting in NS should make you around 200 mill an hour on a single toon, and if you into production theres ways to make you quite good isk thats kinda passive and aint require you to even be online for most parts
Subscribed to your channel from this 1 review alone. I’ve been a player of Eve for a few years now and love it so much, hate all these half assed reviews were people slate it for being boring etc - there’s NOTHING boring about Eve whatsoever, it is what you make it…put zero effort in, you’ll get zero out of it. Thanks for actually investing the right amount of time this game deserves before making a review - you’ve gained a new sub out of it over here!
I have been playing for 2 years now... I played for an entire year before going to Nulsec... If your goal is to go into Nulsec I would suggest investing in combat skills first. I went into mining right off and branched out from there.... and yes just as everyone says Do not fly anything you cannot afford to lose.... better yet... do like me and make 10 of everything so losing one ship is more of an annoyance rather than a heart attack
Great advice! I’ve lost a few ships in wormhole space to other players and since have been focusing on making sure I have the fastest align time possible so I can get out of there quick as soon as I pick up someone on d scan

most games: i played 200 hours, I did everything there was to do, hell even played the whole game several times! i completely mastered this game eve online: I feel like 200 hours is a good starting point also would disagree that "all of the good ships are locked behind omega": T2 ships tend to not really be better, instead often being very specialized ships with a single, specific role in mind; for just going "basic ship but stronger", the nafy/fleet issue ships and pirate ships are a safer bet, and those can be used without omega (though i'd advise against it as considering their price tag, you will often want T2 modules on them, ESPECIALLY guns, most of which alpha players cant access)

Great video. You hit the nail on the head with the ganking story. What would normally frustrate me is actually funny in this game, just because of the great community. Keep it up, dude.
Just seen an advert pop up on my sons pc for Eve online and led me to your 2024 review. I haven't played in 13 years, my main is a command ship and carrier pilot. We where allianced with Triumvirate back in the day flying around Passari and Null sec. I miss it so much 😢
The only game I have played where 2 year old players are still thought of as noobs lol. In seriousness, the potentials of the game and how to move toward it is my enjoyment. Creating, developing and implementing a plan, a program, is part of the fascination of the game. Eve is not a marathon, its a series of them.
Thank you for this video and yes I felt lost too after the intro mission! However I have stuck with it and started to get into it. It really does have a steep learning curve which leaves you to fend for yourself, probably will try the enforcer as that battleship looks sweet :)
The community was very helpful in helping me find my way. I forgot to mention that in the video. They have a new players chat you can ask questions and people are super helpful. Have fun and thanks for the comment!
Yes, it is recommended to play Eve Online in 2024. Despite potential issues like the learning curve and occasional boredom, the game still offers an immersive space exploration experience with regular events and upcoming expansions. The game's virtual economy, player-driven decisions, and the addition of new content like the Eve Vanguard first-person shooter module make it a worthwhile choice for players interested in a complex and rewarding gaming experience.
Great video, Ive been wanting to try this game for so long but I haven't because of how daunting it seems to get into. I might just give it a go, and of course ill use your referral link. I subbed to the channel and would love another review for this game later on.
I was actually in the same boat. You keep hearing it’s a spreadsheet simulator or whatever and it makes it sound intimidating. But really it’s not. Have fun!
@@mellogo1d191Thanks for the reply, im starting to learn the ropes. Ive been doing the agent missions at my home station which has really been helping me learn the game. Deputy Heretical Coffee here, I would like to thank you for your cooperation when you were arrested sir. Just remember, Might Makes Right and the WHPD is here to protect sacred wormhole space. Service Guarantees Salt
I tried for over 12 hours just to play the intro levels and I got stuck on 3/5 for the first mission. Having to get something with probes. The game I found didn't explain it well at all and like I said, I tried for close to 12 hours on that one mission. The learning curve felt too steep and lacked any help. I went through the help system and found out how to launch the probe, launched all 8 at once and still didn't do a thing. Then I was left with no probes, couldn't complete the mission, couldn't get the probes back, etc. Just writing all of this out I feel the anger and frustration that I was having with the game. I really, really wanted to give it a chance, it looks stunning, but if I couldn't complete even the basic beginner's quest, what would be the point?
You launched the probes but did you scan after that? Mission probably said "launch and scan for anomalies" but you expected launching them would mean it scans as well but it doesn't, and it's intended like that since you can move the probes on the map after launching to pick up different signature strengths. I agree it's not begginer friendly, but you played like 1% of the game at that point, if that's all you need to call quits that's understandable, just know you haven't really even played the game like everyone else has.
I've been playing Eve since its launch. Yes, I am that old! Granted I've taken years off from playing regularly. Eve is a game you are either going to live or hate. It's not a difficult game to just play. You can care bear around for decades if you feel like it. You can run a massive evil empire that is constantly at war. You can mine one particular type of asteroid for 5 years and do nothing else. You can fight only other players. You can fight only npc players. Eve truly is a sandbox more than any game I have ever played. I have always told people to just download the game and try it. It made it much easier when the f2p option rolled out.
Nice response to the game brought back a few memories and nightmares. The first few years are the most fun, not played for a decade, don't think I could take going back. My biggest issues was you had to pay to grind before you could start to play. The small pvp stuff was fun with friends but then you had to grind to be able to do that unless you wanted to pour money into the game. The majority of pvp ended up with gate camping which was boring like hanging around at street corners waiting for a fight, the large fleet battles were the closest I've felt to being in the borg... but then there was some really fun small fleet fights.
Faction warfare is full of small and medium scale fights, as well as making isk while doing pvp. Very little time gate camping too, if you want back in to try again go for it!
Thank you very much for the very informative video! I've been kinda interested in the game for a while but it's hard for me to get into those kinds of games without others to play with. Though I might have a little group now with some being interested.. possibly! I will have to see. But again, thank you for posting this video. It helped me decide whether I should bring this to the groups attention or not. Happy flying out there, and keep yourself out of trouble xD don't want the "authorities" adding to those long list of "charges" you already got!
been playing this on and off since 2005ish and I just cant stay away. its a timesink tho and its hard to find time for this and once your obsessed its hard to stop and find time for anything else. trying to get back into it again now.
There has never been anything else like Eve online in the history of gaming. This is the real star citizen, for true hardcore roleplaying gamers and PvPers.
i have been playing this game for YEARS as a 100% solo player... i could fly a capital ship if ihad a fleet and POB....but i have fun sometimes just taking a big ole nyx out and go site hunting..... and sometimes just have fun in my widow, cloak, find players to follow and just watching them LOL ... i like eve
Learning the game is very exciting. I started playing in 2006. Before all the new content was added. It was 15.00 per month and every skill point earned by in-game time, after fighting giant battles in null sec and mining, exploring the map, and figuring out how to get ahead by buying blueprints and selling goods on the market. I was in Tash-Murkon and two random guys came out of a wormhole and asked me if I wanted to join their corp I thought why not and it was the beginning of so many spectacular experiences living in that wormhole making tons of ISk doing Sleeper sights in all kinds of different ships and fleets. You see I had been training to fly capitals when they met me and I turned out to be a huge asset with my skill level. We would take on Sleepers with two Capital ships and five Tangoes. That must be what they are talking about only scratching the surface. So what i am saying is only when you find a group of people you can really trust and know they respect you and have the same desire to win as a team then the game becomes fantastic. I still have my Nidhauger and billions of ISK and skill points, but haven't played in three years.
"200 hours in and barely scratched the surface" is a MASSIVE Understatement m8. I'm about 15 years in. Have ships almost as old aswell. been in tons of small and large and even a few Massive Wars in new eden. I have yet to unlock and do everything, tho I haven't chased everything yet to be fair. I've got detailed Stories I could write books with and gotten my shit kicked in more times than I can count. but I've also made the most amazing and genuine Friends I could ever meet through EVE aswell. but it is Autism+ with a little extra Tism+(squared) that being said I've also done a few moments where I've taken breaks for months at a time because of Burnout. "EVE IS REAL" is a term you will find VERY accurate after a while. you'll get it. my only advice to anyone who starts new in eve is. if it smells like a Scam, it is, if it sounds like Bullshit, it is, if you're wondering what you can do in EVE, find friends. Find an active Corporation WITH comms and say hello to them. get to know them. if you need to change group, do it. until you find one that makes you enjoy and have fun ^^
I used to play Eve mobile game, but now I am playing international server and I want to join a German speaking legion. Do you have any suggestions?(*≧ω≦)
@@AsiminaAl-oy7pd There isn't much of a Nationality or Language based side to EVE at the end of the day. BUT. if you open up your Chat channel and press the plus sign there is a German chat channel that might help you ^^
I gotta get a new laptop to play this, but i do miss it even if I was mostly a rock chunker all day. I would sit back with music, a drink and food mining away, and juking any attackers pvp or pve. Ran into some good folks as well. Overall a good game and I hope i can grow with it.
Man nice video. I play eve from 14 years alredy and we got no tutorials back then. I think the new generation is not made foe this game and thats why population of this game go down. The new players get bored fast, they like trolling games were they dont need to use much of their brain. I will play this game util my eyes let me move the mouse and use the keyboard. Gl in the future with the yt content. Cya on space 😁
@@CapnCrunchESO We both are dad's nowadays with limited time to play ;) I usually play some star citizen sporadically. But im sure he'd give a long speech about his adventures!
About being safe in high sec, your best bet is to mine in systems with a 0.8 or above, concord reaction time is delayed relative to the high sec number which allows groups of players to use cheap ships to kill you even if they get destroyed themselves.
I never attained anything noteworthy in this game. But damn, it brings back good memories. In the early hours, just somewhere in deep space, exploring or doing missions. About a year ago I joined a null sec corp, but realized it was too involved. You had to be "on comms" to report activity or assist your corp members. We had these excursions with 10 - 20 players, just roaming and looking for a fight. They were hella fun. But I enjoy playing on my own too much so that part of the game is unsustainable (and that's okay). I left and started exploration. Let me tell ya, nothing gets your heart pumping like when you see something pop up in that directional scanner. Drop everything, get away and cloak if you don't want to lose your loot. Your heart rate goes up to 140. It's crazy adrenaline. Only game ever to get my heart racing like that, haha.
may i reccomend that any of you newbro's thinking about trying or just getting startet: variety is everything, i enjoy mining while shit talking on comms with my friends. exploration are great to make isk and see the game doing so. null can be fun (i'm personally burned out from null but don't let that stop you!) doing the mega several thousands strong fleets. do consider getting into faction warfare, and early! it's small gang, and it's easy and cheap to get into as you can do it in frigates and destroyers. as always however, remember: In space, no one can hear your scream. Find a corp! find friends in the game, otherwise it aint gonna be fun, just as with any other mmo :D
@@CapnCrunchESO You can do PVP in 1d old toons in t1 frigs - easy. Doesn't guarantee results, but frigate PVP is one of the better (although harder) ways to actually learn PVP. Solo might be tough on a newbro, but in a small gang - t1 frigs get real scary real fast...
Playing this game since 2014. I used to be a miner, then switched to mission runner, then nullsec player, and eventually became a WH player. You can generate 3-4 billion ISK within 1-2 hours in wh. However, people still need to find a good way to spend the money. What is it? Yes, it's PvP. All activities eventually turn into PvP. EVE is fun, especially when built around PvP. Spending too much time in PvE without engaging in PvP may lead to losing enthusiasm for the game.
@@CapnCrunchESO Fleet battles are... something for sure. Problem is, you're basically in the passenger seat, with FC being the driver. You have little control of where things are going, making it very bad environment for actually learning PVP. They also come in different varieties - super boring with nothing happening, super nice with you getting a ton of kills, supper stressful when your side is taking a beating, or - my favorite as Logi - super fast with you getting volleyed off the field before anyone else... Other than that - the visuals can be breathtaking. If your PC can handle them, ofc... As for setting up a moon op... Yeah, maybe you want to join a moon owning Corp temporarily to learn more about what it takes to own/operate a moon rig... That stuff isn't for everyone, and definitely ill suited for a Solo player. For a small group of friends however - it can be a very nice medium term goal.
Good review. I came back to EVE a month ago after a 5-ish year break. Have been playing on and off since around 2009. Worth playing in 2024? Absolutely. You'll never play another game like EVE. It's completely unique. There's just nothing else like it.
i tried to play the game as a miner but there were a lot of things that i couldn't understand (with scaning, equiping things in your ship and others) and i gave up but if the game is good i will try again
I am here because I saw an ad for this game and the MMO aspect is really awesome. After watching your video I don't think I will be able to comprehend how to play the game with so many words. Very great review though!
I was a huge WoW player and stopped cold about 7 years ago. Having that itch again and from what I have seen, Eve is the place to go. Something like 7000 systems to visit and interact with? Insane...
Seen many ads on the game, joined earlier today after finding a video about the stupidly realistic economy. Seems like a decent game but definitely a massive learning curve please help me this is so confusing and I'm normally a fast learner lol.
I tend to do a lot of mining and some ratting(killing npcs) and industrial stuff, i love to build things, and where i am now i can build everything up to the titans, which is a massive undertaking. But the alliance i am in is great and the help you can get is amazing, super cool people. Some level V skills is over 60 days :) with a high-grade pod.
I've played many many games. I don't do reviews or really listen to reviews but Eve Online is one of those games where your NEVER bored. Join a corp (guild) and they'll never leave you out. I've lived everywhere from high sec to null sec. I haven't for about a year but even talking to someone about this game my adrenaline jumps. There's a big difference when your playing WOW and raiding a raid boss for loot to say..being in a wormhole and have millions of dollars (in game) and suddenly someone comes in, and your dead. Everything lost. There's nothing like Eve online. I've played everything and never went back like I always go back to EVE.
I remember I started playing like over 10 years ago. I joined a newb corp, basically a couple of the keaders were veterens, but the majority were all new players. Some random chick was being bitchy in pub chat and I just said something they didnt like and they declared war on me and the corp and kept killing all of us. I eventually just left the game and many of the other newb players couldnt play because they kept getting killed. However, i enjoyed how cool the game was and the music. I also went exploring and discovered my first wormhole. I went in it and landed in some far off place and then a bunch of ships started attacking me almost destroying me before i barely escaped back through the wormhole.
short answer. only if you have 5-6 hours a day to play. anything less and you will feel like you are missing out, trust me. If you work from home you are good. played since 07, quit for real about 2 years ago.
I've been on the fence about getting into Eve for so long... I started once about 10 years ago but lost interest after 50 hours or so because I couldn't figure out what to do without just getting killed immediately, and I couldn't find anyone in game to learn from that was willing to play with a new player. Maybe I should give it another shot. The impression I got back then was that the community was not welcoming to new players at all. Things definitely could have changed though.
Yeah it’s a bit confusing on what you’re supposed to be doing at first. They added that career program thing in the menu to help with that. Try joining a corp with people willing to help new players it’s been a game changer for me. Literally
@@CapnCrunchESO Yeah a lot in your video didn't exist when I first tried the game, it definitely seems more inviting now. I'll poke some of my space/sci-fi nerd friends and see if anyone else may be interested in giving it a shot. Thank you for the detailed and level-headed impressions about the game!
I have been playing this beautiful game on and off since it came out in 2003 and i can say it is hard to compare it with anything else. Eve is a beautiful and fully immersive game that allows your imagination to take over. The music pf Eve is perfect for the game and i miss the in-game music option it had all those years ago. The only thing i don't like is the pay to upgrade option that tends to become part of all games eventually. Aside from that this game is near to perfect in its genre, in my humble opinion.
Hey, thanks for the review. I was wondering what you used to learn a lot of the things you talked about as an early game player, or if there is a good yt series to watch. Thanks
Fuck bro I was literally weighting up which vid to watch between yours and the first vid you flashed on screen at 0:46 Thanks for the honest and well reasoned guide.
Real good video! I like your style. Hope you'll make more Eve content! Most of Eve UA-camrs talk for hours to say not so much. You cover lots of stuff, but it was concise. Great job!
great review. Talking about end game in eve is almost pointless. Ive seen ppl, including myself, starting with the basic ships and advancing to the more advanced ships and then walking back to using more basic ships and tools again. In my case it happened when I started discovering the mind games aspect of EVE. Creative thinking in this game is hgihly rewarding.
Been playing 10 years but I still use t1 ships mostly for pvp, not only because it's cheaper but because they are just as fun to fly in faction warfare atleast and in same ways more rewarding when you get a kill of a faction ship or t2. XL ancil shield booster stabber is a GOAT.
I'm thinking of playing as the ads keep popping up and look super cool, but after your review, I think it'd be easier to get a job at SpaceX and fly a real ship..........
I played years ago. I liked being able to manipulate our characters to look funny or whatnot. My favorite part was being able to pay the subscription with in-game currency. It seemed like a lot but 2 Pirate(?) kills netted me about $600-$650k which closed the gap. I stopped playing shortly after. Maybe because of the PvP 🤷
the main reason why i didnt played the game so far, was the fact that it isnt open world at all, you basically just have small levels, warping into. thats just something that bothers me.
After you get used to the UI it’s actually not that complex. Don’t forget your free skill points too it helps a lot! Either use my referral link or ask a friend for theirs! Have fun

Do you have a guide how to configure your UI? I have seen a lot of videos with diferent windows opened, but as a new player I am using the default ones, and I am affraid that I will miss something because all windows are grouped together
Are you playing with a corp or anything? Been thinking of coming back and playing but on the fence still. been years since I played. easy to find decent corps still?
Good corps can be easy to find as long as you avoid the large mega alliances and the elitist lowsec pirates that only use capitals and bling ships. But counting those out still leaves hundreds of good lowsec, nullsec and wormhole corps to join. And of course highsec corps exist but are all basically the same 😂
Sadly that's about only false information provided in this otherwise very good video. Sure most Tech2 stuff is locked, but Eve is mostly about roles, especially in PvP combat. You can literally be THE most useful pilot in a 100 man fleet with flying a cheap tackler (chear ship that locks down the target while others shoot it down). So that statement is a bit unfair. You can enjoy the game and be useful to yourself and others without omega subscription for a fairly long time. By then you could probably be able to pay for it with ingame currency anyway.
In Eve you can fly a ship, but to properly fly that ship it will take another 6 - 8 months to fully train the supporting skills, it's a long and skill intensive game, since they added Free to Play they have expanded the skill point buying options, long time back they said that would never happen, buying skill points. Now it's catering to the Fortnite/Steam/GTA crowd, if your wallet is big enough you can fly capital ships in little over a day, you have no idea how they work and what to do with them, but as long as you're paying to play they don't care, the sound and graphics have always been excellent, they have improved but were always the best. Played since 2004 took a few breaks.
Yeah I ran into that today actually, I spent like a week training the skills to use the modulated mining lasers, equipped them, bought the modulation crystals and then realized I need to train for another week to be able to use the crystals :(
I used to play EVE in 2005 with Goonfleet. And we were all newbs back then and rented space from some other group I can't remember who. Band of Brothers was the big enemy at the time.
I solo live in low sec. Mining and huffing gas. I compress it all with a small operation and haul it all to go sec to sell. I hunt down hi value rats with a Tengu or Loki in low sec belts (50 to 100+million per rat). Covert ops cloak is very overpowered once you have an operation set up in a quiet dead end low sec system.
iv tried getting into the game about 3 times, stopped each time, this review may make me wanna try again. I think one tip as a social player, find a group that meshes well with you. I hope to one day find a large chill corp, hopefully in high-sec that messes around doing pve and mining just talking shit on discord... one day, if any corps that fit that description find this, pls reply?
I played Eve from start till 2010, came back to it like 3 years ago, but didn't stay long tbh. Obviously, this game is more about PVP than anything else, but having plenty of other elements to make everything work. I am in the minority, but... I love Roleplaying. I love creating a character, with a personality and everything, create stories. And that is probably why I am not playing anymore. Eve doesn't really have any tools for that kinda stuff, except for when they were actually working on " walking in stations " which was cancelled. Which was a true shame to me, I was really looking forward to that. The thing that is a letdown for me concerning Eve, is that they created some of the absolutely, most fascinating background story I have ever seen, with very interesting human factions. The factions, the rivalry, the direction these factions and all went. And to me, creating such amazing story content for a game, that does not have much tools to support playing those factions in a RP kinda fashion, is where I can't connect. To me it feels like something that could have been so great, but missing out. But in the RP arena, research, production of this and that, traveling in space, explore... Eve is truly amazing, still going strong after 20 years. If Eve had mechanics that allowed for RP to connect, like character movement and all... I probably would have never left. But that is just my view on it all:)
Dont go down this rabbit hole unless your unemployed have no female partners or you have some kind of trust fund. Id love to play it, but, to get anything out of it you need: 1: deep pockets 2: Be unemployed 3: Be an introvert mega! As soon as you start it you need just a good few 8 hours just for mining!
Man 10/10 review better than 99%of mmo reviewers you actually played that game and learned a decent amount. Instead of giving up the second you found any frustration. Or saw that it wasn’t exactly like wow
Yeah I watched a few reviews before I got started and most of them barely got out of the tutorial. Kinda frustrating
Its almost hard to rate it as a game among other games. It kind of doesent make sense to try.
I loved iot till the BIG fights just became a total lag fest where 1 second your flying around... the next second youre dead and you literally have no idea how or why.. you never saw it happen because the game would lag so badly...they tried to fix it a little back.. but it really didnt..
Used to.. yes you have learnt to live in reality, with real life people wo require you, and you know it!
200 hours and only just scratched the surface..... I've been playing for 20 YEARS and feel like I've only just scratched the surface..... Great game if you can stick with it. The secret is to find a group to join, once you do that then everything opens up.
This is why I laughed when peon reviewed the game, didn’t make it though the tutorial and said it wasn’t for him
whats the best way to find a group?

@@CapnCrunchESO thx!
You played just 200 hours in 20 years? 😂
Having never played the game before I found this is really helpful, thank you.
"Large percentage" is a huge over statement. Number of highsec gankers in eve are less than 5% of the total eve population.
@@umadbroimatroll7918 OK, OK, perhaps I exaggerated but hopefully I've made the point about the harshness of Eve.
@@CMDR_Verm mining permits are 50% off. new players only! 😂
Good to know, I assumed you were safe in 1.0 space haha oops good thing I learned from this comment instead of losing a mining ship
Totally agree. I was a wormhole miner for 3 years. It was the most paranoid, fun time of my life.
That’s a really nice thing to say! Thank you for the kind comment :)
People need solitude and peace, not chat with demanding hard core nurdism!
Thats why Home World was a much better game.
If you still looking for a group, mail Audeles Talased, our corp TLSAT will take you in 😊
Back in 2013 I spent 2 hours per day mining with Retrievers and Procurers for the first 6 months, and only then I was able to fit a Brick-Orca + maxed out drones for further business, and a Vexor to get back at gankers.
In 2024 its still the same story sir!
I also forgot to mention that even though you can buy ISK for real money you can also pay for your subscription by selling ISK. Which is great
@@CapnCrunchESO This is the way I play. 100mil/d is enough profit to fund not just Omega, but also some pew-pew shenanigans :P
never a bad time to start play eve. its a great social game, and no other games out there gives you the kind of adrenaline rushes you get in this one when you get into pvp and actually risk loosing stuff. you can do alot of PVE content, but it is all based around PVP, witch is the main drive for the game.
I was actually telling this same thing to a friend. Wormhole space is like a constant adrenaline rush from paranoia of being ganked.
@@CapnCrunchESO im mainly living out in null sec, but wouldent mind a chance one day to get more into the wh pvp life
Eve is a terrible game and you should not play it. Why?
1. outdated mechanics
2. Terrible Server tick
3. Grinding isk takes way to long and is worse than working irl
4. Metal involves like 5 ships, if you skilled anything else you wont be able to play properly
5. Skillsystem is straight up bullshit, takes way to long to do anything worthwhile
6. Did I mention that pvp is terrible? Think about playing a game with atleast 2000ms, that's the eve experience
I could go on about multiboxing being encouraged (holy fking shit) local existing, space to big for no reason etc.

If your goal is to go into Nulsec I would suggest investing in combat skills first.
I went into mining right off and branched out from there.... and yes just as everyone says
Do not fly anything you cannot afford to lose.... better yet... do like me and make 10 of everything so losing one ship is more of an annoyance rather than a heart attack

eve online: I feel like 200 hours is a good starting point
also would disagree that "all of the good ships are locked behind omega": T2 ships tend to not really be better, instead often being very specialized ships with a single, specific role in mind; for just going "basic ship but stronger", the nafy/fleet issue ships and pirate ships are a safer bet, and those can be used without omega (though i'd advise against it as considering their price tag, you will often want T2 modules on them, ESPECIALLY guns, most of which alpha players cant access)

You did a really good job reviewing EvE! As a long time player myself I appreciate and support this content.
Registered using your link because you've made a great video showcasing the game. Thank you.
The only game I have played where 2 year old players are still thought of as noobs lol. In seriousness, the potentials of the game and how to move toward it is my enjoyment. Creating, developing and implementing a plan, a program, is part of the fascination of the game. Eve is not a marathon, its a series of them.
I think team fortress 2 also applies to that “2 years playing is still a noob”
I only started feeling like not a noob, after about 3 years playing this game. Its the best game ever!!!
I’m really enjoying it too, are you playing with friends or a corp or what?
Thank you for this video and yes I felt lost too after the intro mission! However I have stuck with it and started to get into it. It really does have a steep learning curve which leaves you to fend for yourself, probably will try the enforcer as that battleship looks sweet :)

You probably need a good corporation, one that you're comfortable with. That makes all the difference

Oh man I’m so bummed I lost the footage :( I’ll likely be there though this Sunday to fight crime. Car ram rod, over and out.
The probe tutorial fucking sucks, it's not your fault
It made it much easier when the f2p option rolled out.
my left ear really enjoyed that warp sound clip

The new players get bored fast, they like trolling games were they dont need to use much of their brain. I will play this game util my eyes let me move the mouse and use the keyboard. Gl in the future with the yt content. Cya on space 😁
i just used your recruitment code because i liked your video. i hope its works out :)
I had a friend in College that loves this. This was 15 years ago.
Maybe he can hook you up with some good starter ships?
@@CapnCrunchESO We both are dad's nowadays with limited time to play ;) I usually play some star citizen sporadically. But im sure he'd give a long speech about his adventures!
Would love to play again, but 20/month on top of a cash shop is too much.
I didn’t realize you can do PvP in lower tier ships?
I’m saving up my ISK to maybe setup a moon mining operation. But I do look forward to PvP. Fleet battles sound amazing!
I’ll help you out if you have questions and want to try again. Feel free to message me on discord the info should be in my about section
I am here because I saw an ad for this game and the MMO aspect is really awesome. After watching your video I don't think I will be able to comprehend how to play the game with so many words. Very great review though!
This was jam packed of info. Concise and informative. Have you continued playing?
I was a huge WoW player and stopped cold about 7 years ago. Having that itch again and from what I have seen, Eve is the place to go. Something like 7000 systems to visit and interact with? Insane...
Seen many ads on the game, joined earlier today after finding a video about the stupidly realistic economy. Seems like a decent game but definitely a massive learning curve please help me this is so confusing and I'm normally a fast learner lol.
Discord in the description 👍
Thanks for the Skills.. Its a nice video! Came back to play. xoxo Userless
I just played the intro of the game for the first time on a 2014 MacBook Air and the graphics were super simple, but it was playable.
I keep trying then hit a wall.. hard to get a corp and dunno what to do next
Great review! Looking forward next update.
nice vid, trhanks for the Million Skill points
Great review! Such a rewarding game but requires some time to understand the overall picture
I've been playing it for over 15 years and I haven't found anything better so far.
Hmmm maybe I should pick your brain about how to avoid burnout and make a little video about it.
short answer. only if you have 5-6 hours a day to play. anything less and you will feel like you are missing out, trust me.
It looks way too complicated and would drive me crazy trying to find what to do.
Hey, thanks for the review. I was wondering what you used to learn a lot of the things you talked about as an early game player, or if there is a good yt series to watch. Thanks
Check the bottom of the description 😊
Fuck bro I was literally weighting up which vid to watch between yours and the first vid you flashed on screen at 0:46
Thanks for the honest and well reasoned guide.
would be curious to see more Eve content. After watching your video it made me more curious but still not willing to commit to this game.
Real good video! I like your style. Hope you'll make more Eve content! Most of Eve UA-camrs talk for hours to say not so much.
You cover lots of stuff, but it was concise. Great job!
Thank you for the kind words, I also hate watching UA-cam videos where people go on about nothing lol. I refuse to do that.
Good video, I’ve wondered about this game for a long time
Hopefully you give it a try!
great review.
Excellent review, now I want to play again
I'm thinking of playing as the ads keep popping up and look super cool, but after your review, I think it'd be easier to get a job at SpaceX and fly a real ship..........
thank you for your video, I have joined thanks to your link. Thank you so much. All I have to do now is learn how to play, lol lol
Have fun! Try to find an active corp with people who are willing to help you learn the game.
@@CapnCrunchESO i will try, if you or anybody reading this knows of one, please let me know.
Got the game a few days ago because it looked cool and i had heard its reputation as a spreadsheet sim but i hadn't expected this level of complexity
After you get used to the UI it’s actually not that complex. Don’t forget your free skill points too it helps a lot! Either use my referral link or ask a friend for theirs! Have fun
@@CapnCrunchESO your going to be rich from referrals and never have to pay for omega 😂 good job on the video and dont quit the game soon 😅
@@umadbroimatroll7918 lol is that what they do? Send in game currency? I was wondering… haha 😂
@@CapnCrunchESO you get 14 days omega when someone subscribes, and 4 master at arms cerebral accelerators when someone buys plex, those can be sold for 81m isk each.
@@umadbroimatroll7918 just checked my inventory and yep I had 4 of those things. Sold them for like 350m haha. Guess I’m buying a Gila next
Do you have a guide how to configure your UI? I have seen a lot of videos with diferent windows opened, but as a new player I am using the default ones, and I am affraid that I will miss something because all windows are grouped together
I've recently downloaded it and I regret not downloading it sooner as it's such a good looking game
And of course highsec corps exist but are all basically the same 😂
"All the good ships are locked behind omega" was all I needed to know to change my mind lol
Band of Brothers was the big enemy at the time.
how big can you ship be ? and what kind of empires should I join ?
Large corp no, but chill corp that does lots of pve and some pvp for fun. 😊
You are in one or run one?@@umadbroimatroll7918
Are you recruiting for the corp? Or do you happen to know who it is, if you can give me the corp name that would be awesome @@umadbroimatroll7918

Good overview but i feel it doesn't tell people what eve actually is.
Id love to play it, but, to get anything out of it you need:
1: deep pockets
2: Be unemployed
3: Be an introvert mega!
As soon as you start it you need just a good few 8 hours just for mining!
The amount of stuff on the ui gives me a nervous meltdown just looking at that lol
As far as sub price can get it down by buying longer blocks of time, as well as buying on sale.
