69 years old here. Great habits! Mine are the same except that I have transitioned to 2 meals a day ( been whole food plant based for 45 years), and I totally gave up on a purse years ago. Now I just carry my phone and keys... that's it!
Amazing, great for you…. Do you post your meal prep or recipes somewhere? What’s your favorite plant base thing to eat and your favorite plant bad snacks? Please and thanks 🙏
One of the reasons your UA-cam channel is thriving is because you are so incredibly likable. I just love coming back to your channel over and over. Thank you for all the great content.
I stopped drinking alcohol as it made me thirsty, interrupted my sleep and made me feel awful. Sometimes I miss it but I don't have it in the house so getting it is a chore.I feel so much better now.
Pro tip: My experience has been "really drunk people are boring." They can't have a conversation without repeating it 3 times. Drive yourself. You can leave before you get bored.
So true! I went to exactly two frat parties in college, and both were filled with drunk guys, and they were very boring. Luckily, I got out of there safely.
I like your idea of intentional drinking. I am a winemaker, have been for 30 years, and I've shifted over time to enjoying a glass of wine I LOVE rather than drinking wine every day.
People like to have company when they drink for some reason. I do not drink, I do not like the taste but the few times I have been in a position where I have refused alcohol, people look at me weird. They go on with it but it is so dumb.
My husband and I quit drinking seven years ago and it was only hard the first year. Now it’s completely amazing and we don’t miss it. We feel great every morning.
NOT drinking I feel so much better!! I would have a glass of wine at night and feel achy, icky in the morning. I agree with Anna on that! AND I don't need the calories!!
@readerwriter, what do you substitute for that time of evening where you savored a delicious glass of wine? I’m not a big soda, juice or tea person…so I struggle with the choice.
I stopped drinking around that same time. My Mom went blind from drinking daily, and eating sugary stuff. I cut out all alcohol and sugar. My eyes are thanking me!
You are very wise. I turn 60 in 2025, and have lived through many "seasons" of life. I have also experienced the death of my parents. That is to say that I have seen the "circle of life". This video is so real, and made me feel like I am not a crazy person for not following all of these "healthy" habits.
I’ll be 60 in 2025 and have also lost my parents. I don’t follow “healthy habits” so much anymore either. My 21 year old daughter is constantly nagging me that i don’t eat enough throughout the day (she is 5’7 115 pounds soaking wet) but I eat when I’m hungry and am down 18 lbs since changing that habit (small meals throughout the day vs my one meal). I need to cut back on the wine though!
I over indulged over the holiday and by Thursday I hit the wall. I felt like I was going to throw up, couldn’t sleep and my skin looked awful. I’m old enough to know better. You’re spot on with all your suggestions!
I'm going to add that *too much* running and running with *poor biomechanics*, just like any other exercise, like any other activity, is bad for long-term physiological health. I've helped long time distance runners in their 60's, who stopped running due to chronic knee pain and arthritis, enjoy running again pain free by correcting running biomechanics, enhacing strength for running, and changing mindset about total volume of running required to race. I agree that nobody is meant to clock 100's of miles a month for years on end, and removing some running volume and replacing with cycling or other non-impact cardiovascular activity maintains joint health while allowing a person to enjoy running. I should also mention that nutrition geared for performance, healing, and recovery is also integral.
I don't drink alcohol anymore (it's been 3 yrs) because I was diagnosed with epilepsy (and can't take a drink bco medication) and since then my skin is SO much better, I have way more energy etc. I'm so happy!
I’m sorry you were diagnosed with epilepsy! 🙏🏻❤️ I can totally believe that stopping alcohol has helped your skin I feel like it messes up so many things with us ❤️❤️
Epilepsy is a horrendous condition, I suffer with it and really wish you the best. It’s great you are being sensible as I know a few people who should not drink on their meds. Wishing you a good New Year 😊
I use to have a habit of drinking 1 glass of wine per day, with dinner in the evening, after work. To break the 'habit' I switched to hot water and fresh lemon in the evenings instead. It aids digestion and fills my need to have something in my hand to sip on while I watch TV...that isn't additional calories or alcohol. Super satisfying habit that also helps ensure I get more water in my day.
I quit drinking alcohol 6 years ago …A great read by Annie Grace “ This Naked Mind” the alcohol experiment. I feel so much better without alcohol in my life…❤😊❤
I lost my son 4 and 1/2 years ago, and some days when I am really feeling that loss, I have a really knock- down, dragged-down cry, and I feel a bit better afterward and I am able to focus on my other 3 kids, who are alive and well, and need my love and attention, too. Also, I used to run 3 days a week, along with other exercise and now, at 62, my knees and hips are paying for all that jarring of my body from running. I go for walks instead and focus on using weights more often. And the whole thing about substituting “healthy” things instead of what the recipe calls for, it does make it taste NOT GOOD!😝 Great video, Anna!❤
Yep. I know people sneer at carnivore but for most people who give it a really good try (no half-assing it), when you're eating primarily or only animal-based protein, you eat less and feel better. Not to mention how much better your blood work looks...
👏great video Anna! Here’s my experience …5 years ago I wanted to see how I would feel if I stopped drinking for 3 months and I felt so good that I haven’t had another drink since , but also I found that some friendships have changed some people just are not on the same path at the same time and thats ok ..we all have our own journeys ! Mindset is powerful
This so great! It took me until age 60 to finally start losing weight. I had went to several nutritionist and doctors stating that I graze all day. They never addressed it and said small meals were fine. When I went to two substantial meals and no snacking on an intermittent fasting schedule the weight started coming off!! I say listen to your body! I wish I had decades ago
Thanks for this "real" perspective, Anna. I have given up rigid exercise scheduling. It took the joy away. Now, I exercise when and how I want to, and I don't dread it anymore!
I love your diversity in your little snippets through video.. I also love the idea of having a flexible morning routine!! Such a great mindset. I think that will help me not to get discouraged when my routine doesn’t go the way I wanted.
LOVED THIS! I’m 33 and I finally accepted/ stopped forcing myself to be a morning person.. I always thought I needed a morning routine and to wake up early but I realised I just forcing myself to be up and not productive for hours I stopped running to focus on build muscle and get stronger. I started my fitness journey lifting weights and then fell into running marathons etc but I had the worst feeling about myself when I was accomplishing this and neglecting weights. I also stopped drinking. One thing that helped was always ordering the same drink whenever I’m out (stops me from getting nervous about it in front of people or defaulting to what someone else is having). For me it’s soda water and lime because it looks like it could be alcohol and no one ever asks. Stopping actually wasn’t hard, but I’ve implemented it again when I feel like it, special occasions, a toast at dinner. But very intentional about it and I love that it’s not a hard no because for me it doesn’t have to be. Love this video, was super refreshing and I hope my little additions can help someone!
Your advice is spot on! I’m 66 and I have a degree in exercise science. I have told my clients everything you just said, it’s great that you have a bigger platform and more “influence” that I had. I never had a hot flash even though my mom suffered horribly with hot flashes. I believe it’s because I strength trained from the time I was 20 and still do!
That’s great to hear about no hot flashes! I haven’t experienced that yet and I hope don’t have to 😀I 100% believe in strength training not only is it backed by research but women think they are going to get bulky after lifting weights a couple of days a week and it takes soooo much more than that so not to worry 😀
I never had hot flashes either even though my mother suffered with them. I have always loved to exercise and lift weights, but I wonder if I just got lucky.
@@charlottejohnk6712 wish that were the case for me. I'm 54 and have strength trained since I was 17. I've been having hot flashes, just at night, for over four years now. I don't have it during the day, because I Fast. I hope this my last months with it.
I have been doing basically the same thing over the past 2 years. I’m sitting happily at 119lb. The struggle was real but now that I’m back to basics my body is happy.
Anna, I want to talk about “anxiety and worry” and the science behind it. Andrew Hubermann talks about this. The part of your brain that harbors anxiety and worry is also the part of the brain that creates gratitude. That part of the brain can only do one of the two actions at a time. When I get jacked up, I immediately “surrender” my brain and start journaling what I am grateful for
Love this! I have to be reminded of this even though I’ve heard it so much. Have you ever read the book “the gratitude diaries”? I read it about 10 years ago and it changed how I look at even the most basic things…
About 30 yrs ago when Madonna went from chubby to buff I was really impressed. I wanted to know what she did. Well……..I met her trainer on a long flight and he told me to get a better body I needed to lift weights. Went great for 20 yrs. Now at 61 everything is shot. My knees, my back, my feet even. 15 fusions in my back! Be careful even lifting. Now, walking is my favorite. I get fabulous results and doesn’t destroy my body. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Just stay consistent.
I’m so with you on the baking with real and regular products. If I want a treat it should be a treat, period. And, I’ve also read that most if not all of the sugar free type substitutes wreak havoc on your gut health. So just enjoy the treat - just not too often 😅.
Glad you are taking a relaxed approach on drinking. I haven’t drake for over 30 years due to several alcoholics in my life. I have woke up ready to go for those 30 years. Don’t think much about it at all.
I loved running, and my knees are saying nooo ... so i walk instead. It's just a therapeutic and not a hard on the body. I need easy on the body... I'm 55 and was forced into retirement because my body can't do it. I was a massage therapist for many years and waited tables before.. also taught aerobics back in the day and worked as a fitness trainer. My spine is hurt ... And, please do check your hormones. This makes a huge difference to your life, health, and mental well-being.
@@ANNAREID29Which hormones did you have checked? I just asked my primary and did blood work, but she didn't include all hormones - excluded estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. So trying to learn more so I can advocate for my own health!
These are wonderful tips! You’re always so rationally balanced and kind in your advice. ❤ I’ve lifted weights and have done all the pushups etc since I was in my 20’s. I’m 72 now and I’ve had osteoporosis for the last 15years. Unfortunately weights, etc didn’t help me avoid it but I still lift the weights etc because it makes me feel better. ❤❤
Have the doctors given you a reason why you have osteo? It sounds like you’ve done all the right things. I’m sorry to hear that you still got it and hope it’s not too bad for you. HNY from Australia 🎉
I enjoyed today's video, TY. I have been wanting to heavy lift for over a year, hope to get a plan for that. I do eat the small meals, it helps with my stomach issues, I too, have basicly stopped drinking alcohol, don't miss it. Happy New Year everyone
Love this, I learned that nobody should become a “ you should” person 😂. Drinking a little can turn into drinking alot. Fun casual drinking can sneak up to much more. It snook up on me, so I just stopped. I feel better, I look better, I think better still navigating social events and getting much better at that. Honestly I feel Im more present and engaged with people.
Amen, girl. I’m also not the drinker in my social group. I drink once a month maybe... I get peer pressure every now & again, but I’m thankful for my hubby & friends who really know me & don’t care about that. And I was a distance runner & stopped when I got cancer. Now at 53, I do strength training & feel amazing. Taking time to appreciate & love yourself is so important. Thank you for bringing this up.😊
I recently had a surgery, and had to quit alcohol, fish oil, and NSAID's two weeks prior and 2 weeks after. After the first week, I saw a difference in my mood, sleep and skin. The second week I started waking up more energetic and happy, I felt as if a fog had lifted. The third week I had the surgery and still felt better than I expected and believe it was because I had no toxins "alcohol" in my body. After the fourth week and was allowed alcohol again which coincided with the holidays, I started drinking again, and within a few days I started to feel sluggish and in a brain fog again. I plan on eliminating alcohol after the first of the year. Side note, I lost 6 pounds in the 4 weeks of no alcohol.
I enjoy a glass of red wine occasionally. It doesn’t make me drunk or even tipsy. Red wine has no effect on my blood sugar is the reason I drink it. I prefer walking to running for cardio health. Walking with friends offers a social benefit or walking alone can help with personal reflection. I need to add more weights to my regimen. Thx for an insightful video!❤
Great list I enjoyed. Was a non drinker to mid 20s minimal drinker until a difficult divorce. Wine numbs anxiety so I keep going back to it but want to find a better way. I love being healthy.
I was craving about healthy eating one year ago and because of that my period stopped, I was counting every calorie in my meals and trying to not process food, I limited myself to sweets and this was so bad for me. Now I have solved this problem and started eating HEALTHY without any limits and just eating some “bad” food if I want to. I noticed that my well-being became better and my body started to feel more energized
I do enjoy a glass of wine but don’t drink on a school night. I have been drinking a couple of glasses a night over the festive holiday but when the new year comes around, I will be only drinking at the weekend and it will be a minimum amount. We have to do what is best for ourselves. 🙂🎄🎄
I needed this. I have been on a weight loss journey and monitoring my A1C. I love drinking socially and been thinking about not drinking around others. Thank you for this video. This gave me the confidence to just have fun. 🎉
You are listening to your body - so smart! You are also right on about alcohol. I lost interest in cocktails when I became a mom I my early thirties. Life was so adventurous with a little one I just wasn’t interested in drinking. I also thought alcohol relaxed me so much that I felt lazy and not mentally sharp. Well, I’m still working in my 70s and sober. One egg nog with rum on Christmas morning is my limit! Absolutely love your vlog. Happy New Year!
I think the older we get the less we can tolerate certain things, like alcohol and spicy foods. If I drink 3 x's a year that's a lot. I just read about how bad alcohol is for you so I just want to stay away from it as much as I can. Thanks for sharing. 💕 wishing you and your family a healthy, happy and safe New Year.
One I stopped is working out too aggressively. Like jumping around working out. I did more damage than helping with this. In my mid 50s now so my joints do not like crushing them.
sober-curious and toxic-positivity, wow, just love how language is always changing/fluid...thanks for putting in humour, love your delivery and concepts
Excellent comments Anna especially around alcohol and lifting heavy weights and feeling your emotions. Some definite takeaways there. I did the push ups while I listened. Happy New Year
Love this whole video! I'll be 48 in April. The work/life balance ...impossible. I work Mon-Fri, 8:30-5:00. And there's no changing that. Toxic positivity...I. get. It. My favorite people and the counseling I've been through, the people I love the most are the ones that say "Yes, I can understand how you would feel that way, it sounds very overwhelming....I'm here for you". ❤ I'm now just trying to be the person I would love to be friends with. I rarely drink anymore. Maybe once or twice a year. I just don't want to deal with the hangover. No thank you! 😂
I like the term sober curious. I am going to try Dry January again. Last year, I participated, but in week three had a glass of wine (damp January). You described my habit perfectly - a glass of red wine every night. It was my “reward”. I want to change that mind set! Thank you for this nudge. Happy New Year.🎉
100% agree on the alcohol consumption - if people are alcoholic then stopping completely is the only way to go, of course. For me (65 now) I’ve never been a big drinker but had gotten into the so-called healthy habit of a glass of wine most days with dinner. I tried stopping that a few years ago. Now I only have one on occasion and sleep much better and wake up feeling great. I go weeks or months without. Same with the sweets! If I am craving it then I have the real thing. Great advice.
My doctor advised me to stop running as my periods had stopped I was too thin and he was worried about osteoporosis so now I walked 2 1/2 miles every day and lift weights. As for the drinking, I've told my son if you have to drink in order to have a good time perhaps you should be looking at other ways to have a good time.
I used to be a runner, I’m 65 and my hips and knees are not happy with me. I’ve switched to biking, hiking, yoga and Pilates. It’s much healthier for me. I don’t buy or make cookies, pies, cakes, ice cream, etc. If it’s not here I don’t eat. If I want a treat I walk to the bakery or the ice cream parlor. I get HRT and it has helped me considerably. I have the pellets inserted, they are a life saver for me. Thank you for your insight.
I also have bone density issues. I lift weights and have a hormone pellet in my hip. My bone density has increased a point every year. There is no cancer on either side of my family. So I’m able to do this. I’m not much of a drinker. I hold the wine glass and sip for an hour but never really drink it. It gives me a headache.
I started T pellets and consistent weight lifting since the osteopenia diagnosis so I hope it helps and this is very good news to hear it did for you! ❤️
How many ways can I say "spot on!"? I am in agreement with all of this. I do drink a bit but not much, and plan to do a dry January just to see if drinking nothing is much different. (I don't think it will be, but it's fewer calories!) And I LOVE LOVE LOVE lifting heavy!! I've put on muscle and dropped a bit of fat, 2 things people claim you "can't" do in your 60s. Yes, you can! Thanks as always and Happy new year!
Loved your video!! I'm 71 years old and have never been able to drink much without feeling sick. I have always just pick and choose the times I wanted to have a drink and I have always had fun no matter what I was doing.
I stopped drinking almost 5 years ago. At first I tried to “fit in” with my drinking friends, but now it is just not enjoyable to be around drunk people, and I always feel awful the next day even though I don’t drink. I actually feel hungover if I’m around people drinking the night before. I’ve become more sensitive with time and my idea of a “good conversation/ connection” has significantly shifted in the past 5 years.
I don't drink alcohol at all. People I know are surprised and sometimes insist that I drink something. But I always refuse for the very reason you mentioned - an unpleasant feeling in the morning.
Good for you Anna choosing not to drink. I go years between drinking and never consume very much if I do have any. Seems like the only people in my life who push alcoholic drinks on me have a problem with over consumption in this area.
Well done. I just threw away a large bag of faux chocolate chips that have been in my pantry for six months…they tasted like wax… could not get past that. 😂 Weight training is very important, I started at age 50 - I won’t admit how much older I am now, but it has made a huge difference- no osteo issues. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Anna you are so sweet and perfectly encapsulate such practical common sense advice! I love all of this. At 48 I’m finally starting to let go of all of the ‘shoulds’ and embrace what works for me and not apologize for it or feel bad about it.
Love this video, agree that a glass of wine each night isn’t good for me personally either (mild headache the next day, the calories, the expense, etc.) and would love to hear about healthy habits you’ve started!
You are great! I started following you a couple months ago bc I’m a mom almost 50 my daughter is 13 and I was putting her clothing needs first. Then I meet my now husband and wanted to start looking cute again! But, you are very wise and grounded! I find that what you share is the middle of the road stuff I like! Thanks for working so hard w this channel for me and other viewer’s !
Your new definition of work life balance is what I’ve always considered work life balance. Life never stays the same so to expect the amount of time required to spend on every task in your life to be the same is unrealistic in my opinion. I’m glad that that’s working for you because it’s worked for me.
Same, that balance shifts over time based on priorities. I think a lot of people misunderstand the term. I hope you are living your best and balanced life!
Love this video, thanks for being open and sharing! I gave up sugar 8 years ago and it has been super helpful. I do use other sweeteners, so I am not “sweet free” but I feel like a new person. I have scaled waaaaay back on alcohol as well. I’ll have something maybe 4x/yr. It makes me feel terrible the next day so not really worth it. I like a soda water with lime instead.
I agree with everything in this video. I used to run now that I’m 67 I need both knee replacements. I also have been watching my drinking. I feel so much better. ❤
My perspective changed a couple of years ago when I realized that a couple of my grown children had issues with alcohol and I decided to be an example and stop drinking. Will I never drink again? Not sure but I feel amazing
I agree with you wholeheartedly on the foods and the exercise segments. This has been my practice for many years and it has done me good 😊. Now that I’m over 50, I feel that I could use more control on the sweets intake around the Holidays and celebration events 😅. Love your channel! Thanks for all you do! Have a wonderful new year!
Every person that I’ve known who ran in their younger years now (after 60) are getting knees replaced. I have always been a walker. I walk 2 1/2 miles a day. Life is good. I’m not a drinker (once a month) but eliminating sugar totally made a difference in how I feel. I have never done the fake sugar stuff. That stuff makes me feel awful. Thanks for your video!
I enjoy a glass of wine but agree that more than one means I am up in the night with an upset stomach. I don't drink when we go out for dinner, so if my husband wants a beer he can do so as I always drive home. Keeps everyone on the road safer! Good points, yes please do a video on your new good habits.
New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing what you've learned for your own health regimen. Many of these resounded for me as well. Bless you in the New Year!
I loved this video because I love it that you’re so real! would like to know about habits you’ve started. I’m with you on some of the ones you’ve stopped. It’s all about how you feel personally and we have to find that within ourselves.
My husband and I usually buy a bottle of champagne and strawberries for New Year's. But liquor can set your liver health back for several days. We are not doing that this year. We recently got an A1c check up and getting back on track with our health.
Great video, I agree with all of your points. Alcohol does not agree with me and I made the choice to not drink. It keeps me awake at night and not worth the terrible feeling the day after drinking.
I started walking 5 days per week this past March. I will be turning 68 next month. It is a fast paced walk and I am up to three miles. I love it! I also take Tai Chi, a balance class and a strength and core class each week. I worked out at the gym 5 days per week lifting weights for over 15 years. I still got osteoporosis. It is my understanding that this silent disease is mostly hereditary. My mother had it and I am on the petite side. I drink about 4 glasses of red wine per week pairing it with my husband's delicious cooking. I finish drinking before 7pm. It is also necessary to drink a lot of water to keep healthy. Thanks for the video.
Truth about the alcohol consumption, also feeling less than 100% after 1-2 glasses of wine. I like how you described it as being intentional, there’s less of an all or nothing mentality about it that sits better with me :) thank you, another great video!!
I love not drinking! I never really liked the way it made me feel, and always did it to seem social. In 2020 when I wasn’t being social it was so nice to not drink, so now I do what you do “maybe I’ll get something later!” And it’s worked well for me!
64 here and stumbled across your channel. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing many more of your videos. I can so relate to the habits that you’ve talked about in this video. I used to do the small meals all throughout the day and often times did not have time to fit them in and then I realized that I never really knew when I was hungry, and so I started working on looking for the signs of my body signaling telling me that I am hungry. my morning routine varies as well and I am so not a person that I have to have everything laid out the night before to make things work so they can get out the door. I rarely drink. I always think I’m going to have a drink at home and I never do. I typically won’t drink alcohol when I’m out because wine makes me want to go to sleep and I just don’t ever do it anymore. Very rarely on occasion, if I staying somewhere that I will not be driving I might have something to drink. What’s crazy as I still have tequila from my 30th birthday! My goal for myself this year is to eat more protein and do strength training. I’ve not really exercised much at all in years. I used to attend dance classes, but then stopped a few years ago to finish my degree and finish the degree just didn’t take anything back up. I’ve had an issue with vertigo these last few years and that been a little annoying. Sorry for the rambling; I am sending this after watching your video and trying to remember the points that you said. Anyway, I hope you have a great 2025 and look forward to watching more of your videos. Take care!
Healthcare provider here: For increasing bone density, "weight bearing exercise" is recommended and running is great for that. Weight bearing is where your body "bears your weight" as opposed to cycling or swimming (which are very healthy, just not weight bearing). That said weight lifting is also very healthy and recommended for many reasons but likely will not improve your bone density. Run if you can and want to!! Thanks for your videos!!
My osteoporosis doctor basically said the opposite 😀 I have to say tho, I have been a runner my whole life and still have osteopenia- so that clearly wasn’t enough in my case. But also, weight lifting is often recommended for increasing bone density but what do you normally recommend? ❤️ Great article about it: www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/strength-training-builds-more-than-muscles#:~:text=The%20good%20news%20is%20that,bone%2Dforming%20cells%20into%20action.
I never could run -- too jarring and hard on my joints. I have walked for decades, including 6 1/2-marathons, numerous 10k & 5k races as well as constant training for all of these. I stretch and lift weights after each walk. I am 78, diagnosed with osteoporosis when I was 50, and my bone density now is excellent with significant less likelihood of fracture. I also got a dog to keep me walking every day.
Not true. Weightlifting, specifically deadlifts, squats, jumps and overhead presses are proven to increase bone density. Check out the Bone Clinic in Austalia, they have a program Onero which is supervised by PTs which works. The majority of med drs aren't aware of this. ❤
@@birdamatic2691respectfully, walking doesn't generate enough impact for bone growth. You need 4x the force generated, and walking is only 1.5x, this is shown in clinical studies. Jumping is good, and deadlifts and squats. Just want to clarify that. Walking is good, but won't build bone.
New subscriber and I love this! I relate so much to what you shared - esp the not modifying recipes to create a healthier version. I so agree it won’t kill me to have a real cookie or piece of pie on occasion. I also at 55 have swapped running for rebounding as it’s easier on my joints and has so many crazy benefits. Thank you for being real and authentic - it’s a breath of fresh air!
Love watching all your videos. I’ve learned a lot about refining my personal style by just simplifying it. I’m 49 and I do strength training at least 3 days a week and might just do some cardio and abs alternate days. I still run as well and I haven’t drank in 13 years. Best decision I’ve ever made.

I find that if I’m not excited to hang out with the people at the party and I’m not drinking… I just don’t go 😀 and yes to driving yourself!
So true! I went to exactly two frat parties in college, and both were filled with drunk guys, and they were very boring. Luckily, I got out of there safely.
So true😂
100% way more fun to be the sober person at a party, and 100% still won't be the most interesting party.
I've always said that if you need booze to have fun, you've got a problem.
I like your idea of intentional drinking. I am a winemaker, have been for 30 years, and I've shifted over time to enjoying a glass of wine I LOVE rather than drinking wine every day.
Yes! 🙌❤️
You are absolutely correct. Nobody cares. Everyone is too busy worrying about themselves.
💯
People like to have company when they drink for some reason. I do not drink, I do not like the taste but the few times I have been in a position where I have refused alcohol, people look at me weird. They go on with it but it is so dumb.
I quit drinking alcohol 38 years ago and I don't miss it a bit! Yes, please, do a video on your new habits.
My husband and I quit drinking seven years ago and it was only hard the first year. Now it’s completely amazing and we don’t miss it. We feel great every morning.
The drinking thing is spot on. I quit at 62 and never looked back. What a relief. I feel great.
I seriously need to stop drinking maybe I should I should go to meetings at least I'd have somewhere to go lol
The WHO states that there is no safe amount of alcohol to consume. It increases your cancer risk too.
I’m glad you liked this one! ❤️❤️
I’m sorry about your parents I know that was / is tough ❤️
Same, although I just turned 60 last month. 😊 I’m sorry for the loss of your parents. It’s a grief I know all too well. ❤
Me too, I'm 60 in 2025 and have lost my parents and my husband. Life can be a struggle, xx
I over indulged over the holiday and by Thursday I hit the wall. I felt like I was going to throw up, couldn’t sleep and my skin looked awful. I’m old enough to know better. You’re spot on with all your suggestions!
We have all been there! ❤️❤️
I was an avid runner for years and loved it. I am 59 now and my knees are shot. Running is very bad for the body.
Agreed! I was an avid runner as well and at 60 just had knee surgery
@ well said! Thank you!
My cousin ran into his 60s and had to get a knee replacement. He is 70 and walks now.
❤️❤️❤️
I might try the hot lemon water 👍🏼
I quit drinking alcohol 6 years ago …A great read by Annie Grace “ This Naked Mind” the alcohol experiment. I feel so much better without alcohol in my life…❤😊❤
Game changer book! Been alcohol free for just over a year.
I have heard of that book I need to read that! Thank you! ❤️❤️
This book is what helped me. Alcohol free 5 years on 12/19 for me! 🎉
It’s a great book. I have it through audible
So sry for yr loss..
So sorry for your loss. I got tears ❤
Господи, молю Тебя, Упокой душу сего раба Божьего и Даруй утешение рабе Божьей его матери, Господи, Да Будет Воля Твоя! Аминь.
Increasing my protein at meals is helping me eliminate snacking.
Agree, this has also helped me a lot.
Same! I have also adjusted my snacking habits for example I have started to eat a few pickles instead of chips when I get the salty crunchy craving
That’s exactly right- drinkers want other people drinking! It’s a shame- who cares if ice tea is in my glass.?.!
@ RIGHT! Now I carry my sparkly Starbucks siping cup with me and no one knows what’s in it… and seldom ask🤩
Yes! Me too! I’ve stopped putting so much pressure on myself alllll the time and it’s great 😀❤️
I love your diversity in your little snippets through video.. I also love the idea of having a flexible morning routine!! Such a great mindset. I think that will help me not to get discouraged when my routine doesn’t go the way I wanted.
LOVED THIS! I’m 33 and I finally accepted/ stopped forcing myself to be a morning person.. I always thought I needed a morning routine and to wake up early but I realised I just forcing myself to be up and not productive for hours
I stopped running to focus on build muscle and get stronger.
@@dstern5859 yes I wonder that too. No way to really know for sure but it definitely is a plus to have a strong body and feel good!😊
@@charlottejohnk6712 Very true!😊
@@charlottejohnk6712 wish that were the case for me. I'm 54 and have strength trained since I was 17. I've been having hot flashes, just at night, for over four years now. I don't have it during the day, because I Fast. I hope this my last months with it.
I have been doing basically the same thing over the past 2 years. I’m sitting happily at 119lb. The struggle was real but now that I’m back to basics my body is happy.
Same, I'm 63 yrs old and about 115lbs. I'm done with alcohol.
I don’t know how you showed up in my feed but I am sure glad you did. At 60 almost 61 I can say you are spot on.
I haven't drank in 13 years because I became allergic to it. I don't miss it at all and can socialize just fine. I feel way better and am healthier.
Love this! ❤️❤️❤️
Everything in moderation including the amount of weight you lift and how often.
Love this! I find fewer and fewer occasions where I actually want to drink alcohol ❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 spread the word and action ❤️
I loved running, and my knees are saying nooo ... so i walk instead. It's just a therapeutic and not a hard on the body. I need easy on the body... I'm 55 and was forced into retirement because my body can't do it. I was a massage therapist for many years and waited tables before.. also taught aerobics back in the day and worked as a fitness trainer. My spine is hurt ...
And, please do check your hormones. This makes a huge difference to your life, health, and mental well-being.
Yes hormones are a huge player in our issues I started HRT and it has made a difference ❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29Me too! Started last May and it’s removed so many negative symptoms.
@@ANNAREID29Which hormones did you have checked? I just asked my primary and did blood work, but she didn't include all hormones - excluded estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. So trying to learn more so I can advocate for my own health!
@kayak7329
Happy Hormones (book) might help. Lots of resources listed in the back.
This may be the most authentic video of yours I've ever watched. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you!
You have made my year! So many things that I feel bad about not doing, you have now made me rethink and say it’s ok. Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
These are wonderful tips!
@ I think it’s genetic as my mom had it too. 🥺
Thank you for bringing this up.😊
This is my favorite video you’ve done. Just very real and unapologetic (in a good way)
I recently had a surgery, and had to quit alcohol, fish oil, and NSAID's two weeks prior and 2 weeks after.
This was the BEST channel for me this morning going into the new year. Yes to everything you said! Thank you so much. ❤
Journaling really helps with processing feelings ❤
I enjoy a glass of red wine occasionally. It doesn’t make me drunk or even tipsy. Red wine has no effect on my blood sugar is the reason I drink it. I prefer walking to running for cardio health. Walking with friends offers a social benefit or walking alone can help with personal reflection. I need to add more weights to my regimen. Thx for an insightful video!❤
❤️❤️❤️
Super amazing video. ALL very real stuff - makes 💯% sense. Thank you for being so genuine - it’s very refreshing. 😊
Thank you thank you!! I’ve always hated the pressure of a New Year when everyone is saying you must do this or that!!
I don’t do a lot of the HIIT workouts anymore either but more so I just don’t want to! 😀❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 I always hated them lol
More protein, low carbs, intermittent fasting and lifting weights have been the most effective strategies for me.
Thank you for your insights lovely Anna, I wish you and all your viewers a good new year.
sober-curious and toxic-positivity, wow, just love how language is always changing/fluid...thanks for putting in humour, love your delivery and concepts
I have been taking the organizing and getting rid of clutter as my healthy habits and adding exercise these have me busy
Yes! Love these! ❤️❤️
I love this!! Especially the weight lifting part that’s amazing! ❤️❤️
Loved your video!! I'm 71 years old and have never been able to drink much without feeling sick. I have always just pick and choose the times I wanted to have a drink and I have always had fun no matter what I was doing.
Please do a video on healthy habits you have started. Thank you for this video, it’s very helpful.😊
LOVE the concept of this video and thank you for talking about the importance of weight-bearing exercises for women🙏🏾
Anna, thank you for sharing with us. I’m ’sober curious’ and realize that I def don’t want to be a daily drinker! I could usually tell that I was
I stopped drinking almost 5 years ago.
That happens to me too I'm not kidding. ...i quit drinking 4 years ago...if I'm around drunk people I feel hung over the next day! It's so weird
@ glad to hear I’m not alone!!
Love this lady's honesty. A straightforward video. I appreciate it 😊
I don't drink alcohol at all. People I know are surprised and sometimes insist that I drink something. But I always refuse for the very reason you mentioned - an unpleasant feeling in the morning.
If people insist that you drink after you say no.. 😢
I love this advice and really appreciate you taking the time to share! I took away some new things to try and let go of in the new year.
What a fantastic video. It's refreshing and it's honest. Thanks, Anna! You're awesome!
Also, yes, i would love to hear the habits you've started.
Spot on about the wine. It sounds like something good but always makes me tired and unable to enjoy the moment.
Extremely useful and inspiring video, Anna. Happy New Year 🎆
I loved this video because I love it that you’re so real! would like to know about habits you’ve started.
I am with you on every single point!!! I also did not get to these epiphanies until I hit 50. Thank you for putting this out there.
Take care!
I love the simplification of habits. My drinking in the past year has reduced significantly because of glp-1 and it is one of the best side effects.
Walking is also a weight bearing exercise that can maintain and build bone density.
Love this, love your honesty! I agree with mostly all of these tips ❤ TY! Happy New Year 🎉
