Wait there's more! Anpanman is a superhero made of bread. He's not strong but his power is his kindness. His face is baked kinda wonky but that's alright as being imperfect makes you who you are. Whenever someone is hungry he would tear off a piece of his face to help them. Some episodes he's all mangled from giving out so many pieces. His origin is that post WWII Japan was going through extreme famine and many children died. The author was thinking how he so badly wanted to eat a red bean bun during that time. Hence a hero made of sweet bread who is kind and feeds all the hungry children.

This is a children's song called "anpan man". The character is called "nyango star", a dead cat inhabiting an apple that likes to play drums. It is a mascot for a Japanese prefecture. Nyango star is a play on words for a cat (nyanya) and Ringo Starr. I knew what was coming and cracked up when you figured it out. He or she (in spite of what people say, it's identity is closely guarded) is a VERY competent drummer. There is a whole band of different mascots.

Remembering that Ringo is Japanese for Apple there are a bunch of puns wrapped in there. I always wondered if Yoko came up with the name for Apple records based on Ringo's name.

As a drummer I have seen this quite a bit, but I have to say watching your reaction when he played the first set of 32nd notes is my all time favorite. It IS a kid's song.
The Japanese Kid's Show is "Anpanman", which is probably the inspiration for the manga/anime series "One Punch Man" (which has pretty metal opening themes, if you haven't ever watched/listened to them). The song is titled "Anpanman no March" or "Anpanman's March" in English.
HOWEVER, if you read the lyrics, they're actually kinda dark (for a kid's show), considering the old composer was inspired by his brother dying while flying kamikaze plane during WWII.

Hahaha. Shawn and Kitsune Neko have explained in the comments below - and nobody knows who is in the costume despite anybody claiming it is x or y (latest rumour is that it is the drummer from Maximum the Hormone .... it isn't). The various mascots' identities are closely guarded secrets.
Nyango Star represents his prefecture (mainly known for growing apples) in fund raisers. This sort of mascot is very popular in Japan with each area or prefecture having their own and they raise a lot of money. There are at least a couple of videos with several of these mascots playing together in a band, all dressed up in their costumes - Nyango Star on drums, another on guitar, another on bass another singing and so on.
There are more videos of Nyango Star doing drum covers of well known songs - he even does a Babymetal cover and is dressed up in a facsimile of a Babymetal costume complete with a Su-metal style ponytail and bangs/fringe wig.

The drummer's stage name is "Nyango Star" half spirit cat, half ringo (apple in Japanese). This mascot is from the prefecture Aomori, Japan. It's in the north of Honshu (mainland Japan) one of the coldest cities in the world and favorite for their apples.
The song being covered is an opening for an anime and the opening is called “Anpanman march”. Anpanman was made when the creator in world war 2 was starving and dreaming of eating anpan, so he made a series after the war about a hero with the intent to give children dreams. His brother died in service during the war, and he made the opening song with his brother in mind. It is a Japanese media powerhouse, everyone knows anpanman. The opening is one of the most recognized ever! It’s lyrics are pretty touching and people say it’s depressing, but I find it uplifting.

Oh, and not to mention, that depending on where Nyango Star played, the summer in Tokyo and more south are really hot and humid. I believe it was more north, but I have no idea where this gig went up.

On of my all time favorite memes. If you were told the context ahead of time it would have spoiled you being punked. Nyango Star might unironically be called a Master drummer. Yes, this was a children's show, with songs appropriate for children, but he also knows that he has the parents to entertain as well. What is the suit? An apple. Who's in the suit? The spirit of a dead cat. Don't question it, just believe.

Starr invokes the Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. Nyango is an apple (famous in Aomori prefecture). He’s the spirit of a dead cat that was put into an apple (don’t ask). He’s playing drums to the Anpanman theme song. Anpanman is an extremely popular and famous Japanese children’s show whose lore I don’t have the want to go into now. The actual drummer is very secretive about his identity. Nobody knows who his actual name. Hope this helps.
