I didn't really notice much in the form of signal interference, usually those things will subside once all the groundwork and whatnot is re-established. If not, you might look into just getting a power regulator to plug your gear into if you don't already have one. Usually Furman makes ones in the 150 dollar range that give you consistent level power avoid spikes and clean up the signal
Unfortunately, not everyone saw it that way, Madonna is not a fan of Al, Coolio was also against it at the beginning, but then became friends with the song. Michael Jackson, on the other hand, was immediately a big fan of his, he even made his dancers available for Al's videos.
Prince wouldn't give permission. But I think that had more to do with his overall issues with record companies. It's the reason he changed his name to the symbol.
There was a story, Weird Al was going to some club for the first time. Lots of famous people, he wasn't sure he'd fit in. As soon as he walked in the door, a voice called out 'Look who it is! Weird Al is here!' It was Paul McCartney.
You may have to do them back to back, but, Madonna's "Like A Virgin", then Al's "Like A Surgeon". Early genius stuff from Al. "Another one Rides the Bus" is just low-fi chaotic.
Speaking of crazy buses... one of his earliest songs was a parody of Queen's 'Another One Bites the Dust' called 'Another One Rides the Bus'. Music is just Weird Al on his accordion, and his drummer beating his hands on the empty accordion case.
Recorded in a campus bathroom, as I recall. I think that was his second recording to make it onto the Dr. Demento radio show, after "My Bologna". Yes, I'm old enough to remember hearing it air for the first time!
“No phones No lights No motor cars Not a single luxury Like Robinson Caruso, it’s as primitive as can be” Most reactors miss that this is the song from Gilligan’s Island lol
@@ratmouth YT might not allow the 'gory' version. Please keep in mind, it would not be the reactor's fault if they can't get that version uploaded to their channel. Talk to YT's stupid lawyers and freaky money-mongers.
The man is a pure legend and deserves all of the credit he gets. This has been a favorite of mine for years, and glad you're going down this rabbit hole. Here's some that I recommend: Tacky Smells like Nirvana Eat it Foil You Don't Love Me Anymore Living With A Hernia I love Rocky Road Money for Nothing (Beverly Hillbillies) I could go further, but I'd be here listing damn near every song of his. Enjoy!
Assuming you've seen Starwars episode 1 and heard the song American Pie then his song The Saga Begins will be the best yet. You've probably heard the original but don't know it, either way I Highly recommend.
You're right: its a crazy bus, welcome aboard!. As Weird Al sang it himself in his TV debut: Another one rides the bus! You might wanna check it out,. One of the most epic moments in TV history!
I've always liked the little respectful nod to the culture at the very end of the song. "There's no cops or traffic lights, but you'd probably think it bites living in an Amish paradise" showing that there are upsides to living the Amish way of life. 😄
You should absolutely react to both reasons that record company executives should not force Weird Al to do a Christmas song: 1. Christmas at Ground Zero 2. The Night Santa Went Crazy (extra gory version)
"Word Crimes" (takeoff of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke) "Hooked on Polkas" (medley of songs by artists like ZZ Top, Tina Turner, Kenny Logins, Duran Duran) "Fat" (takeoff of Bad by Michael Jackson) "Like a Surgeon" (takeoff of Like a Virgin by Madonna)
I’m so excited this was the next Weird Al you picked and I can’t wait to see “Beat It” if you get around to that too 😭 That smile as soon the reaction starts 🥹I hope you and Momma Senpai have the cutest weekend 🖤
Aileen, glad that you re-watch the videos to catch the elusive tidbits that you miss initially, Al does it with all his videos. Some of Al's parodies can outsell the original artist, while some can give that artist a revival in their career.
Weird Al videos are always worth multiple viewings, first for the overall experience and then to find all the subtleties. You're right, listening to Weird Al is a crazy bus -- and we're always happy to welcome newcomers when another one rides the bus. "Another One Rides the Bus" is the Weird Al song that got him national attention, so you made a lot of fans happy with that metaphor.
If people are going to spoil what Weird Al is parading (rather than discover when you hear it) you almost watch the original first Like the MJ parodies theres videos of *MJ & AL* videos playing side by side
I think watching the originals first is a good idea anyway because it’s great to see how many Easter eggs he puts in the videos as references to the originals.
"Living with a Hernia", a parody of James Brown's "Living in America" is my favorite. There are many others that I also love. "Foil" , "Smells like Nirvana", "I'm so Handy"...
Lots of “Easter eggs” in here. “No phones no lights no motorcars…” are direct lyrics from the Gilligans Island theme. If you’re into his hip-hop/R&B theme, then “Stuck at the Drive Thru” is my recommendation, but there’s a ton of good stuff in his library.
One time I played this song for an Amish family. The kids and their dad loved it, their mom, I don`t think she liked it too much, but she was too polite to say so.
I took my daughters, 12 and 13 years old to their first real concert with thousands of people, it was Weird Al. I did it because he is great and they would remember that for the rest of their lives.
I've had the pleasure to have seen him perform, and it was one of the best shows I've been to (and I've been to a lot of shows). Just an amazing artist
This is the video I've been waiting for, this song was everywhere when I was coming of age, we had a channel here called Much Music that would play this all the time, the goat parody song. Your enthusiasm for this song and how much fun you had with it made this a great reaction. There's actually a Mennonite community here in Ontario Canada where I live called St Jacob's , haha picture Weird AL going there and singing it. They don't make em like this anymore
Yup! The last scene, he learned how to mouth that section backwards and he mouthed it while walking backwards, then they reversed the footage. Super cool video technique!
Weird Al is a genius when It come to parodies. When I was tille and was introduced to Weird Al, I found out he went to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, which is where I grew up. Which I thought was pretty cool.
Hi Aileen 😊 Absolutely wonderful reaction and analysis to "Weird Al" Yankovic's Amish Paradise. A little dose of Weird Al is always good. Here's a write on the parody song. "Amish Paradise" is a 1996 single by satirist "Weird Al" Yankovic. It is a parody of the hip hop song "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio featuring L.V. (which itself is a reworking of the Stevie Wonder song "Pastime Paradise"). Featured on the album Bad Hair Day, it turns the original "Gangsta's Paradise", in which the narrator laments his dangerous way of life, on its head by presenting an Amish man praising his relatively plain and uncomplicated existence. During MTV's run as being a pure music video channel we lived for every download of Weird Al and enjoyed them completely. I am so glad that you are learning about him and having a good laugh along the way. Also, there were cameos in the last video White and Nerdy like Donny Osmond... In this video The Cameo is Florence Henderson who was famous for her portrayal of Carol Brady (Mrs Brady) on the sitcom The Brady Bunch. Another Easter egg is a part of the lyrics "no phone, no lights, no motor car, not a single luxury" is referencing the ending credits of the 1960s sitcom Gilligan's Island. You are very correct with the innuendo term "plow" in the scene of them looking at the magazine and the centerfold. Good for you 👍 noticing the reverse photography in him coming out of the barn. Yes indeed lots of Easter eggs that fellow UA-camrs have pointed out. Always good to see you laugh. "Weird Al" is the best antidote. All the recommendations are great. I look forward to more fun as you watch his work with your reactions and analysis. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️🙏👑👑
I love that you made the gag that you'll tell your grandkids that this is the actual Gangsta's Paradise. There is a similar joke in the film "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story." I've seen this a million times by now, but it just occurred to me that although the song is golden on it's own, the video is just one gag after another. If you want to really get on the crazy bus, you'll need to check out his early "Another One Rides the Bus."
Speaking of it being a "crazy bus"... you should check out Al's "Another one rides the bus", one of his earlier work parodying Queen's Another one bites the dust. And like others have said; yes, he did sing backwards to make that shot possible, and him pulling it off is why he gave that little eyebrow-raise at the end because he knows darn well he's a genius even if he won't ever say it of himself 😃
Coolio originally said no to this parody, but Coolios label allowed it, they did have a little beef with it, but over the years he came to like it and everything was cool between the 2
A great reaction by you, Aileen, Weird Al is excellent, he puts in so much time and trouble into what he does. Maybe you could do a reaction to the original version of this song, "Stevie Wonder - Pastime Paradise" obviously it won't have the rapping which Coolio or this version has. I recommend two of Weird Al's parodies, "Eat It" and "Fat" both taken from Michael Jackson tracks.
Check out the side by side videos of Weird Al’s parodies of Michael Jackson’s songs Bad and Beat it and see what a genius he really is (links below): Bad vs Fat - ua-cam.com/video/bUkakGrBzsg/v-deo.htmlsi=E7cR3UeFx87C_57K Beat it vs Eat it - ua-cam.com/video/f2_OvoMzVTU/v-deo.htmlsi=yT9UUyDG1PGzmXRs
in the closing scene, Al memorized and lip synced to the last verse backwards...everyone else was moving forward while Al was moving backward...rumor has it he did this in one take...the man is a genius!
Yes, Aileen! Glad to see you're going to be running through Weird Al's videos! Those never get old. Too long of a list to name them all, but definitely, you'll want to check out "Eat It" (parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It") and "Jurassic Park" (parody of Donna Summer's "McArthur Park") just to suggest a couple to get rolling with! Keep 'em coming! 🙂
One thing that nobody ever notices with this song. The part that talks about no phone no lights no motor car, that is actually a snipet from the theme song to an old TV series called Gilligan's Island.
"Fat", "Tacky", or "Germs" are good follow-ons. He doesn't always directly parody existing songs. He also writes original material in the particular style that he wants to lampoon ("Germs" in the style of Nine Inch Nails, for example). One of his longer pieces, again picking up on a style instead of adapting a specific song, is "Genius In France", where he not only channels Frank Zappa, but he got Dweezil Zappa to play guitar on the recording.
Another WWeird Al original to recommend. "Hardware Store" . Contains the longest single sentence in all. of music. And yes he rapped that line in one breath, but almost passed out and doesn't do it live (very often).
I would like to recommend my personal favorite Weird Al, "Nature Trail to Hell." Watch the video for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," then watch Al's "Smells Like Nirvana." Al's attention to detail really shines in that one.
6:34 Weird Al actually performed that scene in reverse, while everything else went forward. Then the film was run backward for that section. Do "Word Crimes" next, please.
WAY is insanely prolific, most artists consider him spoofing their music as a indication they have "made it". He's been doing it since I was a kid. His version of Beat it released in '84.
Loved your reaction to the AMAZING Weird Al Yancovic! You should watch "Word Crimes" next. Also, I think you will absolutely love his parody of "Happy" from Pharell Williams, wich he called "Tacky" it is hilarious! Weird Al is a rabbit hole of pure comedic genius! He also made a video with ERB "Epic Rap Battles of history" in which he plays Sir Isaac Newton, battling Bill Nye "the science guy" in which he raps at a speed that will blow your mind! Hope to see those reactions soon! Much Love and Respect to you, my human sister, from Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦⚜️
Weird Al does a Polka medley of many popular songs. He just released one 4 months ago. He uses different animators for each song. You will likely know everyone he has fun with.
Hey, Aileen. Just so you can thoroughly enjoy these parodies by "Weird" Al, you might want to watch the originals to provide or refresh the madness of his genius. Most people really fall apart once they see the source material. For example, LIVING IN AMERICA by James Brown cones from the movie ROCKY 4. "Weird" Al has turned it into LIVING WITH A HERNIA. LIKE A VIRGIN by Madonna becomes LIKE A SURGEON. HAPPY by Pharell Williams is now TACKY. Michael Jackson gets the treatment twice for his songs BEAT IT and BAD. Al has turned them into EAT IT and FAT. There is even one for Star Wars called THE SAGW BEGINS that owes its DNA to AMERICAN PIE by Don McLean. I love how much joy you are getting from watching these videos and can't wait for more. Hope this helps. Keep going and enjoy.
One of my personal favorites (it could be because I'm older now) Weird Al videos is "Living with a Hernia"... Weird Al does a great James Brown impersonation. Of course, what really made him famous is his Michael Jackson videos. Try "Eat it."
Speaking of forgetting the Lyrics... Don McLean has commented that sometimes he catches himself during a performance of "American Pie" almost singing the Lyrics to "The Saga Begins". Also, if you want crazy bus, you need to go in the way back machine and react to "Another One Rides The Bus."
There is a story that Weird Al wanted to do a cover of Born This Way by Lady GaGa, and he contacted her management and they said no. GaGa found out and reached out to him personally to tell him it was an absolute honour and he was welcome to parody any of her music
Thank you! I've been scrolling the comments looking for someone else to mention this. Coolio sampled the original, and then Weird Al covered the cover. However, sorry to be snarky, but it's -1t.
Sorry for the microphone humming, I’ve been having some construction around my home 😅 hope you enjoy! ❤
Watching or listening to the original first is always a good idea with Weird Al's brilliant parodies. 😂
Weird Al is going on tour in 2025, get your tickets now! 😂
Not Coolio. 😆
And yes, Al had to learn his lyrics backwards in order to do that scene which was shot in reverse
Aileen, yes, Al walked and sang in reverse, so when played in reverse, his lips synch up pretty well with the audio.
And I am old enough to own a copy of the original original, Pastime Paradise.
Some of the biggest artists in the world see Weird Al parodying their work as a HIGH honor.
Unfortunately, not everyone saw it that way, Madonna is not a fan of Al, Coolio was also against it at the beginning, but then became friends with the song. Michael Jackson, on the other hand, was immediately a big fan of his, he even made his dancers available for Al's videos.
Except Coolio. Lol
Funny you would say that on this video, when Coolio was one of the few exceptions to that
Weird Al is a creative genius. Also, by all reports, a genuinely nice and humble person. A national treasure.
Love the Gilligan's island reference and that Carol Brady from Brady Bunch was in it
He also has some original songs. You have to check out “One More Minute”. One of his greatest, and it’s hilarious! 😂
And as we enter December, she needs to hear “The Night Santa Went Crazy”
Aileen you definitely have to watch Als "Eat it" and the spiritual follow up "Fat". 😄
Weird Al is also amazing live. He does costume changes for pretty much every song. 65 years old and he's still touring.
You may have to do them back to back, but, Madonna's "Like A Virgin", then Al's "Like A Surgeon". Early genius stuff from Al. "Another one Rides the Bus" is just low-fi chaotic.

Not a single luxury
Like Robinson Caruso, it’s as primitive as can be”
Most reactors miss that this is the song from Gilligan’s Island lol
Most reactors have never heard of Gilligan's Island. LOL
Back then everyone caught it
Aileen, Weird Al actually has a whole real movie called "UHF". It's basically more of this and it's totally worth checking out 😂
I lived in Tulsa when they shot "UHF" there. Sadly, I missed all of the extra calls because of work requirements.
Well, since you mentioned Christmas...a couple of Weird Al songs to check out:
1) The Night Santa Went Crazy
2) Christmas At Ground Zero
As long as it’s the “gory” version TNSWC

that wall falling down is a reference to buster keaton from the 1930-1940. he used to that type of stunts.
Steamboat Bill, jr. (1928)
After White & Nerdy and Amish Paradise, Trapped in the Drive Through is my next favorite.
“Party in the cia” and “trapped in the drive thru” are amazing songs that you’ll love! Also his Jurassic Park song is a classic.
Trapped in the drive thru is a TOOL length song. It's great
_Handy_ is one of my favorites
@@BigJohnLXV The video for that is wild!
Everything You Know is Wrong (I think from this album) is my all-time favorite Weird Al original. He has many good ones, but that's my anthem.
YES!! I love this song please do st some point "smells like Nirvana, fat, eat it, tacky, and the saga begins

1. Christmas at Ground Zero

"Word Crimes" (takeoff of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke)
"Hooked on Polkas" (medley of songs by artists like ZZ Top, Tina Turner, Kenny Logins, Duran Duran)

Try 'Word Crimes'
It's brilliant!
For more Weird Al inspired ab workouts, I suggest "Foil" (parody of Royals by Lorde), and "I lost on Jeopardy" (parody of Jeopardy by Greg Kihn Band).
Thanks for the reaction hope you have a lovely weekend ❤❤
You really need to react to his parodies “Eat It” and “Tacky”. I promise that you’ll love them
I always thought 'Eat It' and 'Fat' go together better since they are both based on MJ songs AND both are about food... lol
It’s always the little details in Weird Al’s videos that make it even funnier. Hope we get more Weird Al Reactions✌️🤘
Yes, he lip synced it backwards for that scene. Not an easy thing to do.
I enjoy watching ur reactions and ur reaction to the magazine was priceless lol.

The older blond woman sitting is Florence Henderson from The Brady Bunch. He has Donnie Osmond in White And Nerdy. 70's and 80's stars cameos.
Your smile is infectious, no matter my mood I smile every time I see you smile. Thank you
You are on a magic ride hun,,, enjoy!!!...love you appreciating the little details.
He is a magician with his words. This is absolutely hilarious. Glad you reacted to it.
Even Don McClean loves the Star Wars parody Weird Al did. You NEED to see it
Yup! The last scene, he learned how to mouth that section backwards and he mouthed it while walking backwards, then they reversed the footage. Super cool video technique!
Al has been the king of parodies for the last 45 years. So there's a lot of ground to cover. ✌️❤️🌹

Just an FYI, but in that revers part, he lip synched the lyrics backwards. that is how good he is. :)
Also you should see his take on the Star Wars movie 'The Phantom Menace'. It's a classic.
Speaking of it being a "crazy bus"... you should check out Al's "Another one rides the bus", one of his earlier work parodying Queen's Another one bites the dust.
Check out the side by side videos of Weird Al’s parodies of Michael Jackson’s songs Bad and Beat it and see what a genius he really is (links below):

yes, he reverse scened the sequence. He is so talented to walk backwards and sing.
Aileen, crazy part is that AL has outlasted many of the artists/counterparts that he chose to parody! He deserves a spot in music hall of fame.
in the closing scene, Al memorized and lip synced to the last verse backwards...everyone else was moving forward while Al was moving backward...rumor has it he did this in one take...the man is a genius!
Yes, Aileen! Glad to see you're going to be running through Weird Al's videos! Those never get old. "Trapped in the Drive-thru" is a hilarious parody of "Trapped in the Closet" by R Kelly.
I love Word Crimes. Al dropping bars! 😆

The way you say Weird [pause] Al changes the meaning of what you're saying in a weird way (pun not intended). 😄
Fun one, Aileen!
I would like to recommend my personal favorite Weird Al, "Nature Trail to Hell."
Watch the video for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," then watch Al's "Smells Like Nirvana." Al's attention to detail really shines in that one.
I discovered your channel at a perfect time
Hey, Aileen.
Just so you can thoroughly enjoy these parodies by "Weird" Al, you might want to watch the originals to provide or refresh the madness of his genius. Most people really fall apart once they see the source material.
For example,
LIVING IN AMERICA by James Brown cones from the movie ROCKY 4.
This tour was the first concert I went to when I was like 9... I used to loan out his cassette tapes from the library lol
You look amazing
Keep watching more
One of my personal favorites (it could be because I'm older now) Weird Al videos is "Living with a Hernia"...
This is hands down my favourite Weird Al song ❤
"all the best people are a little bit crazy" ... i TOTALLY concur ;P
Glad you discover Weird Al. One you can't miss is Weird Al's Fat and Michael Jackson's Bad side by side.
Weird Al's wonderful cover of a cover. Watch the origin of this song, Stevie Wonder's "Pasttime Paradise."
Thank you! I've been scrolling the comments looking for someone else to mention this. Coolio sampled the original, and then Weird Al covered the cover. However, sorry to be snarky, but it's -1t.
@@arrrghr What can I say, I stutter.
You need to watch his stuff from the 1980's
