It’s nyango star, I go to Japan every couple of years and missed him at a con by one day, absolute hero. It’s actually a cute story, he is the mascot for his home town which it’s main export is apples. He also has a mascot band and has played with maximum the hormone on some videos. I thought it was maximum the hormones drummer for a long time but that has been proven wrong

The drummer had probably been playing this song normally for about 6 hours straight and was on the final 5 minutes and just thought 'fuck this, gotta blast!'. Never gets old.
The real story is the person under the costume is a professional metal drummer and has toured with several bands. She did this as a way to promote tourism to her hometown and encourage people to buy apples from there. The Kayfabe reason is the ghost of a cat possessed a local apple and now plays drums for kids to make sure they get enough fruit in their diet.

She's the drummer of Japanese nu metal punk band "Maximum the Hormone". What an absolute delight.

As someone who's trudged around in this kind of costume, I can attest to the heat build-up on even a cloudy day. What this mascot's doing seems 10 times more exhaustive. Mad props.
People, it ISN'T Nao Kawakita from MTH. That one video people base this on, she was standing behind the camera cheering Nyango on, not IN the suit playing. Nyango's identity has been a mystery for years, why would Nao suddenly start shouting and playing with her own band in the costume? It's never been confirmed, because it isn't true. Their 2 drumming styles aren't even remotely similar.
I'm assuming it's a bit like Top Gear's Stig, where it's a costumed character and the actual person inside could be anyone from a handful of extremely good drummers depending on scheduling and location.

So this happens at a Japanese theme park. Think something somewhat akin to Chuck E Cheese meets Disney Land. The park was struggling with attendance and on its way to closing its gates for good when this clip went viral. The drummer's stunt had become somewhat standard fare so the staff were not at all surprised to see it happen but being exposed to the internet got a lot of people interested in the park. Ticket sales increased and the drummer wound up getting an entire band that does shows in the park akin to the same metal style for the kids. Nyango Star is the character's name and who the park is themed after.
