I’ve been watching this video for over a decade and it’s absolutely hands-down the best version of this song that exists. A few years ago I was able to see David play in Denver. I was sitting front row in the center and had the opportunity to thank him for his vulnerability while playing. He responded that he had never once been thanked for being vulnerable while playing live. He’s a gem. That voice…. My gosh.
Absolutely love David Gray, my wife and I have seen him several times, one time she was blasting this through the house, and says this song makes me happy, and sweetly kisses me. English is not her first language, and I say-honey, you know that this about a soldier dying on a battlefield saying goodbye to his love in his mind? Just then the lyrics start clicking for her, then the angry face, thankfully the bruise didn’t stay long! Lol!
David Grey writes with a depth of love that is so rare today. I have loved his music since I first heard " This year's Love" in 2010. You hear his heart in every song. This concert is just amazing

There exist major labels? Where, Nashville? Cuz the Capitol Records building in L.A. is just an Historic footnote. It's empty Office space.( A sad reminder of the days when music (Cd) stores still existed, everywhere). As is RCA, etc, etc.
Just saw him...and his amazing musicians he calls friends.....I’ve seen a list in these many years Of the very best....this show jump into the top three truly amazing....can’t explain ...
This was played at my beautiful wife’s funeral at her request.
