There is an aspect of Origins' Blue that is lost in the translation from Japanese. His name in Japan is Green (his color scheme is also green, not blue) and so when Red asks if he's going to pick Bulbasaur because of his name, he says "nah, that's stupid, I pick Squirtle". They try the same thing in the English dub but it doesn't work because he ends up picking his colored pokemon anyways.

3:36 Two things I like about this scene: 1. Red's shown to treat this like a game rather than a serious commitment or real-life activity with related dangers attached to it. He doesn't try to catch an opponent's Pokémon out of malice, he does so because he legitimately isn't thinking about the implications of it. Not in a brain-dead stupid kind of way, but in a "never really considered that" kind of way. 2. In the games, when you try to catch another trainer's Pokémon it says the trainer blocked the ball. Not only is that weird (you think a 7 year-old bug catcher has the speed and reaction time to stop you from throwing a ball at his Pokémon?), but it kind of conflicts with the Snag Ball from the Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness games. In Origins, a barrier blocks the ball from working, showing that the Pokémon must be disconnected from its current pokéball to be put inside another one, which makes far more sense.
Regarding Emma/Essentia, yeah. The suit was very much controlling her. In the games, she describes it as taking a nap while in the suit. She eventually gets control of the suit and basically becomes a superhero of sorts.
The biggest contribution Origins made to the Pokemon canon was Brock's implication that he has different teams for different skill leveled trainers. Generations was such a great mini series, by far the best episodes for me were the second univa story and the final story. The dark stuff surrounding these episodes were something we never seen so vividly in a pokemon series, from the massive amount of death team plasma created with freezing the city to az killing who knows how many pokemon and people with his ultimate weapon. Such dark stuff in pokemon was something new and i really did hope they would do somethign else dark because pokemon has a lot of dark themes in it that would make a great show for a more adult audience.

THAT BEING SAID, let's hope they are able to maintain a higher standard for their universe that Star Wars had over the last few years 😅😅😅
Twilight Wings is still my favorite bit of animated Pokémon media to this day. Shingo Yamashita is one of the best and most creative directors working today, and it’s not hard to see why he’s so sought after with how he handled directing it. It has such incredibly strong cinematography, and he along with the other animators on board put particular care into each character’s movements to really bring them to life. It really set a new bar for shows of this kind.
I certainly wasn't expecting another hour of pokémon, but I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to watch it! Thanks for making all of this for us, Jordan, it's been amazing! Gods, I want to watch pokémon from start to finish, now, but where would I find all of it?
Fun fact: the Origins anime uses a Team one of the Developers used for the Hall of Fame Charizard, Persian, Jolteon, Scyther, Dodrio and Lapras And Origins was also supposed to be an Advertisement for X&Y's main Mechanic as it came before the games did
The best part of Origins was the HP bars! It feels a lot more legit when you can see the damage Blastoise and Charizard dealt each other. You can see how close it was! They needed that for the major mainline anime battles eg: *_1. Leon's Chaizard vs Alain's Mega Chaizard X._* *_2. Ash-Greninja vs Sawyer's Mega Sceptile._* *_3. Alain's Mega Chaizard X vs Trevor's Mega Charizard Y...etc._*
I actually really liked the story of Sword and Shield. You go about, learning that this long passed on legend is actually a lie that was being used to cover up the truth about the legendary Pokémon of the Galar region. Even Rose, he's not a bad guy but gets so stressed out about trying to ensure the safety of Galar that he gets paranoid and accidentally causes exactly what he wanted to avoid. I get why people don't like the games but the story is actually pretty good and a nice change from "bad guy wants world domination".
The mini series set in galar show rose's more human side, showing how he cares about people, he seems so authentic in the miniseries which i think the games don't protray well enough. Like he isn't just a bad guy who wants world domination or anything, but the games paint him pretty poorly and make him seem more like lysander who is a complete nut job than a well meaning guy who fell off his rocker.
Pokemon origins reignited old nostalgia for me... though my favorite part is the (in)famous squirtle chomp. I get a kick everytime i see that clip. Its flipping hilarious.
The fight with geodude served as such an effective lesson about type matchups that he withdrew his fire type from the fight against a rock/ground type and sent out an even less effective poison type.
One thing about these miniseries I love is how they capitalize on what Pokemon as an anime is best at, impactful moments. As such, I disagree that they should be longer.
BRO its kinda dope how bar for bar the beginning of Red and Ashes journey is! Even the stuff with Pidgey and the ratata except Ashs ratata stole his foodies😂
I cant be the only one that want looker and detective pikachu to have a cross over. Also Hasuian in snow is so cool. I never heard of it until now but watching as the beginning is of humans and pokemon is super refreshing. You can even say that him taking off at a young age to vefreind pokemon is the tradition of 10 year olds setting off on an adventure.
I remember seeing someone point out in the Generations videos that the "video game" lead we see in each episode is the other one that Origins didn't used and by the time we get to Gold/Silver and Red/Blue/Green we are pulling from side stuff or remakes for the leads (also I remember the Internet loosing it at Green being the lead on the Kanto one, since she is a Japanese only character).
Origins was legit, especially with Bryce Pappenbrook and Lucien Dodge voicing Red and Blue, as well as Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Brock. We need a Red VS Ash battle at some point.
id like to add a subtle little moment where broke realized ash didnt have any other badges and reasons out as to why he only used a geodude + and onyx, implying if he wasnt his first gym battle, he would have used more pokemons out of his arsenal
The final episode of Origins was the official reveal of Charizard X. Up until this point Charizard Y along with the other kanto starter Megas was the only reveal for X/Y just weeks before the game came out.
Something interesting to think about with the Cyrus episode The Reverse World has water, but it doesn't have food, Cyrus almost certainly doomed himself to starve to death
Wish they'd just go head and give the animation work for pokemon to the people that did Origins/Generations. I honestly just want to see them go full send with an actual sequel series to Origin. Maybe we will get a sequel to Origins with the Gold and Silver games or adapt another Generation.
Origins is the only one that i have watched. It was the first pokemon related thing that I had watched in years. I stopped watching during the Ruby era. It was fun going back to somewhere so familiar and seeing it more from the game pov then the anime.
The way they worked in the megaevolution was really cool. If they do a remake of FireRed it would be awesome if they worked that in as a way to interconnect the different generations better. Pokemon Origins was really well done.
Thanks so much for watching! Let me know some of your favorite Pokemon anime spin-off moments or episodes!

I really think that now Ash is done, there will be a huge market for one off short stories in the Poke Verse, similar to what Star Wars tried to do since being purchased by Disney. THAT BEING SAID, let's hope they are able to maintain a higher standard for their universe that Star Wars had over the last few years 😅😅😅
Suprised you didn't talk about the old Pokemon Chronicles mini series! Maybe someday!
in Part 2
@@JordanFringe94 awww yisss can't wait, loving the Poke dive
Online somewhere. Pokemon tv has kanto, johto, alloa and the three journey seasons. Iplayer has sinnoh and unova so theres a start.
Fun fact: the Origins anime uses a Team one of the Developers used for the Hall of Fame
Charizard, Persian, Jolteon, Scyther, Dodrio and Lapras
And Origins was also supposed to be an Advertisement for X&Y's main Mechanic as it came before the games did
0:00 Pokemon Origins
22:49 Pokemon Generations
44:25 Twilight Wings
55:52 Pokemon Evolutions
1:01:55 Hisuian Snow
Watching this with a hot cup of coffee on Saturday morning the first cold day of the year for me. All is well.
The best part of Origins was the HP bars! It feels a lot more legit when you can see the damage Blastoise and Charizard dealt each other. You can see how close it was! They needed that for the major mainline anime battles eg: *_1. Leon's Chaizard vs Alain's Mega Chaizard X._*
*_2. Ash-Greninja vs Sawyer's Mega Sceptile._*
*_3. Alain's Mega Chaizard X vs Trevor's Mega Charizard Y...etc._*
I didnt realize it until lately but you're one of my favorite content creators, spawncast is where i found you
I appreciate how you added the "who's that pokemon" commercials. Chef's kiss of this editing.
Brother, whata dessert to finish off that whole ass meal of a series you just finished
Personally I was a huge fan of pokemon chronicles back in the day cause it showed Ethan and Krystal
Generations and Origins are both masterpieces I want whole seasons of these
I actually really liked the story of Sword and Shield.
I like Team Rocket being seen as an actual threat
Pokemon origins reignited old nostalgia for me... though my favorite part is the (in)famous squirtle chomp. I get a kick everytime i see that clip. Its flipping hilarious.
Thank you so much for all videos you made. You are one of my absolutely best youtubers ever. :)
Jsi borec. Mám moc rád tvoji tvorbu. Zdraví Nogy.
Awesome as always thanks your Pokémon videos helped reignite my passion for the franchise i wish they would dub all of these!
None of us ever forgot the vicious swuitle mauling the Charmander.
Ngl never seen this deoxys one, catching pokemon in space would be FIRE
The fight with geodude served as such an effective lesson about type matchups that he withdrew his fire type from the fight against a rock/ground type and sent out an even less effective poison type.
His Nidoran had double kick.
Video: Who’s that Pokémon? (clearly not Pikachu)
Me: IT’S PIKACHU!!
Video: iiiiiiit’s Snorlax!
Me: GODDAMMIT!!!!
*EVERYTIME*
Nothing like a fringe video to make laundry day a little brighter 😍
One thing about these miniseries I love is how they capitalize on what Pokemon as an anime is best at, impactful moments. As such, I disagree that they should be longer.
BRO its kinda dope how bar for bar the beginning of Red and Ashes journey is! Even the stuff with Pidgey and the ratata except Ashs ratata stole his foodies😂
23:55 I love that there is a caterpie on screen for this line
Loving this long form content. I really enjoyed origins. I'm curious about the Hisuian show. Looks really good tbh.
Thanks again Jordan. Loving the Pokemon lore
Love his work
@@claymathewselevator8121 it’s great. Dude should be over 1mil subs with the work he does
I see all those little doodads and I hear your magic honeyed words, but let me ask you this
*"Do you even splash, bro"*
Every time I see you drop a video it actually makes my day.
Seems that The Pokemon Company has been making more anime spin-offs as of late and I'm totally down for that!
Man that Cubone story made me wanna cry.
Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit love you all so much!
So I think we as the players steal a charmander leon was going to give hop
Looker working with detective pikachu would be great
Origins should have been an entire series man, I LOVED it!
Origins was legit, especially with Bryce Pappenbrook and Lucien Dodge voicing Red and Blue, as well as Johnny Yong Bosch voicing Brock. We need a Red VS Ash battle at some point.
Gabby and Ty’s gulpin keychain was nice touch
Morty and Gengar in crowd was nice touch
id like to add a subtle little moment where broke realized ash didnt have any other badges and reasons out as to why he only used a geodude + and onyx, implying if he wasnt his first gym battle, he would have used more pokemons out of his arsenal
the x&y mega evolution specials are the best
The final episode of Origins was the official reveal of Charizard X. Up until this point Charizard Y along with the other kanto starter Megas was the only reveal for X/Y just weeks before the game came out.
I love this, keep going man.
Something interesting to think about with the Cyrus episode
The Reverse World has water, but it doesn't have food, Cyrus almost certainly doomed himself to starve to death
Should start a petition for a looker series
I loved the Pokemon mini series and spinoffs . Chronicles, origins , evolutions , generations and twilight wings etc but enjoyable
All of these stories happened in the video games. So it was cool watching it play in on tv.
Pokemon Origins deserved so much more love including more episodes
The mystery dungeon anime was so good and fun. got me hyped for the game in a way the main series even couldn't
This is without doubt the best thing that ever came out from Pokemon
Wish they'd just go head and give the animation work for pokemon to the people that did Origins/Generations. I honestly just want to see them go full send with an actual sequel series to Origin. Maybe we will get a sequel to Origins with the Gold and Silver games or adapt another Generation.
Budget and time. Way too much for a weekly anime made to advertise some games. That’s why these specials were made.
Origins should've been the anime adaptation of the Adventures Manga I've been waiting forever for.
Origins is the only one that i have watched. It was the first pokemon related thing that I had watched in years. I stopped watching during the Ruby era. It was fun going back to somewhere so familiar and seeing it more from the game pov then the anime.
My favorite Spin-offs are Origins and Twilight Wings.
The way they worked in the megaevolution was really cool. If they do a remake of FireRed it would be awesome if they worked that in as a way to interconnect the different generations better. Pokemon Origins was really well done.
Ngl, i love how they nade this series of epidodes based on the games themselves
Hey Jordan! What about doing all Power Ranger season complete guide like you did for Pokemon anime? I think it'd be fun
I remember the first time I saw origins I said to myself “ I wish this was a full series!”
Aaah yes the story of Red and Ass hat😂😂
