Michael Redd: What Caused His SUDDEN Downfall?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2017
- Michael Redd was one of the best shooters and scorers in the 2000s, but he's often forgotten in an era with many other great shooting guards. Redd only made the playoffs three times in his entire career, and a lot of it was because his Bucks teams were never that good. By the time the Bucks became better, Redd had already started to decline. So...what happened? Hope you enjoy the video!

I'm loving these stories about these all star caliber players who faded away.
James Burgess same dude lol it’s intriguing
Crazy they didn't keep him around because organizations are loyal and all. Can't blame any player for doing what's best for them...the team's sure will.
James Burgess cLA NEXT PLS
kinda sadistic...
James Burgess my last name is also burgess
I remember Michael Redd being such a beast in NBA 2k9. He was one of my favorite players in the league back then and I always used to immediately trade for him whenever I started a new franchise
Harry Garris I FW your profile name and pic
Very unsung, he was a player that got better with time. Milwaukee just couldn't build the right squad around him. He is a very humble dude, good dude, he now has his own church here in Columbus, Ohio. I remember right before he went to the NBA I saw him riding around cramped up in this tiny hoopty lol. I went to college with his wife, real humble nice person as well. Hail to Columbus' own, Michael Redd.
Yeah if he just played with maybe one more star he could have lasted in the league
Milwuakee's problem is they don't keep good players. If Giannis doesn't leave at some point, bet on the Bucks trading him for some scrubs.
@@emperorpalpatine1228 They have a cheap front office, they traded Brogdon cause they didn't wanna pay him. Giannis is gonna end up in Toronto most likely.
The Gray Car 😄
@@emperorpalpatine1228 This aged well
THANK YOU ANDY YOU LISTENED TO ME!!!! Everybody forgot how much of a dominant scorer Michael Redd was
I always feel so bad when players have to end their careers due to injuries, especially ones as brutal and ACL, MCL tears.
Fill me up Then eat my ass for real and leaves fans wondering what could had been drose, Brandon Roy, Greg oden, and penny. Damm that's just off the top of my head there still plenty more
you think those two injurys are bad look at shaun livingston's injury
I remember Michael Redd. Injuries are inevitable. Still had a good career. Would rather stick it out with one team and remain loyal than to ring chase.
Man you hit the nail on the head, redd was very loyal to the bucks
"Redd Alert"
@Ahmet Hakan Tanya mama lol
"SUDDEN" is a little bit too much
he was a good for at least 7 years
Luka Calov my thoughts exactly, and he got better each year.
Exactly. The nba can be so silly with that. The guy put up 20 ppg for multiple years and he wasn't even 30 yet 😆 At most: his career was cut short by 3-5 years of peak level scoring.
Sudden because as soon as he was injured he fell off. So in that sense indeed is was sudden and unfortunate.
sudden is exactly right. he was playing well then suddenly started playing horribly. do you not know what “sudden” means
Do a video on brandon roy! He was so unlucky with injuries.
Floor_ Mop113 EVERYONE knows the story of Brandon Roy.
He had such amazing potential. He was my favorite player!
All time injury list.. Starting 5 player
Brandon Roy
Michael Redd
Danny Granger
Raef Lafrentz
Greg Oden
@@354Rd You musta felt like shit typing this out..
A.Sabonis, Sam Bowie, Bill Walton,Ralph Sampson,Grant Hill
He gave a lot of his prime years to a pitiful bucks team...
Not everyone can be the lakers
imagining michael redd with pheonix or san antonio
dude a redd and lebron team up at the time coulda been something amazing. it woulda given lebron that second star he was needing during hisfirst era with the the cavs
He was sneaky dominant in NBA Live/2k lol
his shooting form was so fast , i loved to shoot 3pts with him
I would bury people with midrange jumpers in Live with him.
Facts i would use the bucks, ppl would look at me sideways than see Redd drop 35 on em lmao
Redd was a beast. Ive always liked his jump shot too. That slingshot motion worked for him. It's a shame injuries cut his career.
That high release behind his ear was unlockable.
Khris “Wanna Michael Redd” Middleton
Michael Redd was low key one of my favorite players. I think I got a NBA Live game when they picked up Richard Jefferson and I just dominated with those two. It would have been really great to see him pair with LeBron when he was in Cleveland desperately needing another quality player other than big Z.
I never even realized how good he actually was. Prime years he was a top 5 scorer in the league then injuries once again destroyed his career.
Thank you for this video! Michael Redd is my favourite player all because when I was playing nba live 06 I had to choose a team to use and me.being a kid with no nba knowledge I chose the bucks because they had the coolest logo to me. Instantly I fell in love with the man and have been waiting for someone to do a video on him!
@Joshua Jung Their logo was/is super cool. So I feel that.
Joshua Jung 😂😂
Never clicked on a video so fast. Thank you!!!
As a Bucks fan Michael Redd and Ray Allen were my all time favorite Bucks. That Ray Allen trade is still the worst in Bucks history and the Redd injuries were heartbreaking. Both these guys deserved so much more recognition then they got. I'm glad Giannis Antetokounpo is getting his. Go Bucks Fear the Deer
Bonzi Wells was one them players that was b-list when it came to star status, but he was as tough as they come. Can you give us your best illustration of his career & how it panned out? Love you channel, keep up the good work.
Great piece on Michael Redd... I'm a Piston fan and I don't really keep track of other players around the league so it was good to hear what happened to Michael... The Detroit Pistons and Harris family are praying for his family...
Redd was one of my favorite players. Great video! Thanks!
man, thank you for this... he was one of those really good players that just slipped into obscurity...
Well done Andy! These are great videos. Keep up the good work! 👍
35% from three is actually pretty solid over an entire season. 38% and up is venturing into Elite level.
Looking back at these videos lmao, u really had like scary/sad music in the background.... I’m so happy u stopped with it 😂😂💯
I really like this series you are doing. I forgot a lot of once highly competitive players like Redd, but I sure had wondered where he ended up and how he ended up like that at some point. This stories just satisfy my curiosity and give me flashbacks of watching these player play when I was a lot younger.
And Redd is one of these player that wasn't known for athleticism but for playing the game right fundamentally. Perhaps I'm getting old, but I enjoyed watching his games though maybe 100% of the time I was cheering for the team he's playing against.
You did a great job sir Andy! More more more! ❤️
Can you do a vid on b Roy? He was one of my fav players growing up
Great video, Andy
Dude, you are simply awesome. Thanks!!
You do a tremendous job of keeping the memory alive👍🏻
I like learning about the NBA's past players, so much forgotten talent.
Great video as always Andy, can you do a video like this one for my Favorite Power Froward Amar'e Stoudemire. I think he's career is underrated nowadays and I think people should see how effective he was even in he's first few years in New York.
The Big Dog i actually planned on making a vid on stoudemire, he was one of my fav players to watch growing up too
Great work bro! you earned my subscribe!
Thanks for the video. I wondered what happened to Michael redd. I remember watching this guy
thanks for this video please do a video on Sidney Moncrief He Deserves Some Love OK sooo Heavily Underrated
first player to ever win the DPOY award!
i know 4 times over
NBA Know It All Good idea bro
Should be in the HOF tbh
no he was not
khris middleton really out here wearing #22 😭😭
Great vid again Andy. Could you do Brandon Roy? I think asked already on a diff vid. Lol. Keep up the good work
Michael Redd has always been very underrated. I appreciate it whenever he gets credit where due. I did not however realize just how he fell from his high-sailing career. Figured it would be wear and tear, but had no idea just how ridiculous that wear & tear really was on him.
As for Andrew, the thing that wound up ruining his dominance in the league was his constantly growing ability to get injured. His knees reminded me of a Brandon Roy type of degeneration. On top of it, he suffered from fairly consistent problems and injuries to his shoulders and his wrists. The most notable injury though was that dislocated elbow.
I live in columbus. Michael redd instantly one of my favorite player
Syed Sultan bro I went to school with him. I saw him walking down broad street everyday after school. Lmao
PG: Malcolm Brogdon
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Giannis Antetokounmpo
PF: Jabari Parker
C: Thon Maker
Holy shit that would be a deadly starting 5 if he was in his prime!
Jason B Free maybe he's just trying to say if the current roster had Michael Redd then they'd be really good.
No ray allen?

Thanks Andy Hoops
I'm from CHI. Other team merch didn't sell as well, I ended up with a legit Michael Redd Jersey on mad clearance. I played several years of pickup wearing that.
Great video
video idea what happened to Brandon Jennings
Jaime Petrosino torn ACL
He was trash cant defend or shoot over 45 percent
Jaime Petrosino brandon Knight
HangingWithBoudi yah already did a comment like that before
Jaime Petrosino need that vid!
About time
Great video my brother totally forgot about him
I feel like if Redd had stayed healthy, and in Milwuakee, he'd be in the same role that Jason Terry is currently in, a veteran leader who can mentor younger players as well as help stretch the floor
Rodney Hood reminds me of Michael Redd.
I hope it works out for Hood.
Donald J. Trump he was shot for the cavs
Yeah almost identical, both are left handed, Similar jumpshots, shooters.
rodney hood was mostly just catch and shoot... redd is more skilled, he got off the dribble, post up fadeaways etc...
That's an insult to Michael Redd
Those were dark years for the Bucks but Redd made it worth watching. His 3 was so lethal. Sad that knee injuries took his career
Same im a bucks fan and Michael Redd was the only reason at the time why I became a bucks fan.
I from Milwaukee he was my favorite player growing up I had posters of him and Andrew Bogut on my wall..at the time they give free tickets out at my middle school because the bucks were so bad..if you had good grades..I got the joy to watch him play 5 or 6 games..I wore the number 22 in basketball and football because of Micheal Redd he was one of the reason I fell in love with basketball and with the Milwaukee Bucks..he definitely was very underrated throughout his time here I wish we got him a championship..but he is still a legend in Milwaukee!
Do one for Desmond Mason next :D
That's a must
Thanks for doing this it means alot for me because I'm about to play on the same court he played on 20 years ago at west high school
best basketball channel on youtube hands down
keep up the good work. Enjoying very much of these stories
Underrated!
Can you do one on Brandon Roy PLEASE
Hey Andy,
How about making one of these on Ron Mercer? I've always (especially since hearing J. Cole's "Grown Simba) wondered what led to his downfall.
Andy’s videos are hilarious...he always talks about a player’s career dying but so many of the ones I watch the players played 10 years or more. The average player only plays 5 years ijs 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
Man I wish I remembered this guy. He seemed like a great player!
“Wannabe Michael Redd” iykyk
Michael Redd was my favorite player and it is sad to watch someone like him suffer through injuries and fade from the line light. I think they broke him and Desmond Mason up to soon. Maybe if he had stayed in Milwaukee a little longer something could've happened and even though he returned for the 07-08 season you could tell that he wasn't the same player as he was. I also wish Redd could've stayed healthy for the sake of working alongside Richard Jefferson. Another uniqueness about Redd was his quick release and left handed slingshot type jump shot.
This is fucking depressing. I love theses vids you make man, but it’s really hard to hear about them.
Brandon Roy...would like to see a video on him. Hated when he faced off against Kobe tho
This man made a 9:51 video and didnt add 9 seconds of filler. Mad respect
You have made a few videos about players that faded away, well try doing the opposite...players who turned amazing out of nowhere...that sounds interesting doesn't it?
Twix TM Jimmy butler, kawhi, isiah, there's so many
I've been waiting for months
Damn injuries are sad
Steve Francis?
He was a malcontent from draft night. Drank his was outta the NBA.
Thx for this video Micheal Redd was a pure baller for the bucks
Good documentary.
The knee is not designed for basketball.
Phoenixspin Nope
Not for lebron. His ball aren't tho 😂
kaiser why you talking about balls pause
@@robertjacobo4708 because LeBron missed a lot of last season with a strained groin
@@kaiser741 not balls but dick, he got a small one so he jumps higher
Toni kukoc part had me weak😂😂😂😂😂
You just did two videos on my two fav players who are under rated , Ben Gordon and Michael redd ...
Now I get why he suddenly disappeared. Thank you for this!
Michael Redd , is like many players who look good off the bench then they wear out sooner then expected because desperation of bad teams push minutes on good players inflating numbers but hurting long term health things like this are why rules where passed to limit regular season minutes.
Good $tuff Andy.
Seriously, fuck injuries
Thank you for talking about him nobody remembers him
Sir andy, i've watched your Amare video. And I heared that he will make a comeback in the nba.
Great shooter. Remember not hearing about him anymore after injury. Very sad
Great video as usual but those type of videos are basically the same and end the same way - the guy gets a few injuries and never gets back to his old self... so maybe you should go to another direction... For example - a video about players who were labeled as the next Jordan and how it played out for them. or a videos about teamated feuding. or about players who actually fired coaches. just a suggestion
I remember there was game vs atlanta where him and joe johnson are going head to head they had similar style, slow paced , smooth jumpers but no one was paying attention to them, because of the paul pierce's , kobe's tmacs and all
After watching those videos player carrer got killed by injury. I am wondering and want to watch video about player suffer really bad injury but somehow recovered and still doing well afterward. any?
The guys a beast on 2k22 for the All-time Bucks. One of the cleanest shooters, the guy can't miss.
I loved Redd. Wished he would have had a longer career.
Knee injuries will ruin anybody.
Michael Redd was a really good player!
Michael Redd was better than really good.
High as shit binge watching Andy Hoops videos with my dog
Injury videos get me in my feels
Me & my co workers was talking about him a while back he was a beast on Live 04 or 05
Thank you I always wonder what happened to him now I got a closure
Underrated match up redd vs joe johnson,
The guy is a pure shooter and scorer. Im actually surprised that there are seasons when his 3pt fg drops into the 30's
I remember him being really great! God bless him!
very glad they put him in 2k18. giving me a chance to continue his legacy
Used to pick him up all the time in my NBA Live and 2K franchises.
Yeah, Redd was spectacular in his tenure in Milwaukee, and I used to recognize him as Ray Allen version 2.0!
