the 04 pistons lineup have my fav archetype of every position. post up guard, mid range shooter, defensive wing, jump shooting big, undersized rim protector. and they were clutch, defense oriented, and were underdogs who played with a chip on their shoulder. fav and most respectable team of all time imo,
Showing us Detroiters sum love Andy the 03-08 were our best pistons teams I didn't see the bad boys pistons as I was born in 92 but 04 was too lit the city was jumping that year
Hes one of my top 3 favorite pgs. I usually lean towards highlight players like VC, Tmac, Iverson, etc... but Billups is amazing all around. Cant hate him either hes too nice
When he first got into the league, I knew he would someday be an all-star. My dad and uncle's said I didn't know basketball. Guess they were wrong. Said the same about Rondo. Take a hi IQ point guard over the skills and athletics any day. Smart PG will raise your entire team's level.
high iq and skills usually come together. players who rely on athleticism may get injured and not be good anymore, while iq and skills can't be lost. more reliability and longevity in that case
His career didn't began until he landed in Detroit. It was the best opportunity for him to showcase his talent and leadership ability. He was comfortable.
Man I went to Highschool with him, I was 2 years behind him and played some pick up games with him also very strong and smart , but the shows he gave us in those days was crazy #kingofparkhill Class of 95
Chauncey was smart. Its clear today with the he talks and clear back then with the way he played and answered questions. He may not be a top 10 pg of all time. But he is a legend in detroit and a champion as well. Kudos to him
He was a calming presence for that Pistons run. He was perfect for the "Outcast" "Going to work" group. My favorite time in sports fandom was lead by CB and Big Ben and Sheed and RIP, Tay, Lindsay, Mike James, Corliss, Mcdyess...
Chauncey Billups is one of the most underrated point guards of his era but he still managed to compete well against the likes of Tony Parker, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash in their primes plus the leadership is something that I love about him which is why he's one of my favorite players ever. If you need leadership, the ability to draw fouls with his craftiness and someone who can rely on with the game on the line, Billups can definitely provide that. Oh that 2004 title run is just legendary and frankly I don't think we'll ever see another team that wins a championship despite lacking a true superstar.
He was kind of the prototype for the modern point guard, a guy who can create for himself and others at a high level. Damn shame nobody knew how to use him until he got to Detroit
The 2003-2007 Pistons and the 2001-2004 Sacramento Kings were my favorite teams to watch back in the day even though I have always been a knicks fan. Such great pure team basketball.
Reminds me a bit of Kyle Lowry if Kyle Lowry were a lot more clutch. Also kind of bouncing around teams til he found a good fit not the most explosive but also a good leader. I like Chauncey a lot and I think he deserves to be in the HOF, also hell of an analyst on ESPN. You can really tell his basketball iq was the reason he was so successful (not to knock his shooting and defensive abilities)
One of my favorite players in the nba..kinda remind me of jrue holiday these days..very underrated, filling up the stat sheets, great playmaker and defensive pg guard..
@@trentonmullins4948 Tmac??? Tmac was a perenial all-star. There was nobody like him. Tmac wasn't quite VC, he wasn't quite Kobe, he was just an all around remarkable scorer. Reminds me of D-Wade 4 inches taller.
What goes unnoticed is what happened to the teams that he left. Rip, Tayshaun, Sheed became less efficient, and Detroit had a losing record and got destroyed in the first round. Sheed had to go to Boston the following season while Rip would go to the Bulls during Rose's MVP year. Rodney Stuckey once said that the loss of Billups affected his development. Billups was the exact kind of player who can keep a locker room firm so they remain focused on doing what they are supposed to do. In Denver, his influence in the locker room caused Melo and JR to play better by not messing the flow of the offense. That Nuggets team played slower than what a typical George Karl offense would suggest, but they were able to execute well in the clutch and in the halfcourt which made them go deep in the playoffs that season. Billups was never the kind of player who can get you off your chair when you see his stats, but how he impacts the team should be enough to consider him around top 20-30
One of my favorite players of all time is Dirk Nowitzki. He is one of the greatest NBA players of all time but is hugely underrated. Please make a video about his greatness.
He was a shoot first point guard at the begging of his career, groomed into a pass first under Larry Brown. Billups is one of those point guards that has full package of skills: he could pass, could shoot from deep, create of the dribble, defend, and even post up other point guards, if his team needed it.
Stats will never come close to telling just how good Chauncey was. His impact was so much larger than that on a team where it was never about the individual then you add in him turning Denver around. The most underrated player of that NBA generation
He was a true floor general. With the defensive anchor Ben Wallace, perimeter lockdown Tayshaun Prince, lethal clutch scorer Rip Hamilton and the perfect complimentary piece Sheed, they could've won a couple more rings if the team stayed together for longer, or grouped earlier.
Bruh growing up in Denver where he's from, I got to see him play a couple high school games. You can just read the room and knew he was leaving PARK HILL to the NBA. There's not a lot of ppl that make it out my city so I'm proud to say we got ONE LEGEND💯💯💯 #QuadTre
How him or no of the 04 pistons are in the HOF is crazy. His numbers don't tell the story. He got a ton of Hockey assist and got us in our offense so efficiently.
While I love the bad boys, Billups era Pistons were incredibe to watch. I loved going to the home games and the finals were unreal. Chauncy always seemed chill and in total control at the same time.
One of the most underrated guards in the past few years for sure, I think in NBA history. Stats won't tell the whole story with him, he was such a great floor general and game manager. Excellent defender and very good shooter, A+ teammates by all accounts as well.
I think in a few years, Kyle Lowry will be viewed a LOT like Billups; oddly enough, they're both very close and Billups actually was the one who advised him to change his play style and shape up to elongate his career.
Better than what the stats say. A true PG who made his guys better...... he's the reason Melo ever made a WCF.

the 04 pistons lineup have my fav archetype of every position. post up guard, mid range shooter, defensive wing, jump shooting big, undersized rim protector. and they were clutch, defense oriented, and were underdogs who played with a chip on their shoulder. fav and most respectable team of all time imo,
we had a great coach too
He’s in that 15-20 range for best PG ever
Would love watching him coach an NBA team. He's a smart leader.
can you do how good was Richard "Rip" Hamilton actually
In my mind a Hall Of Fame player! I am a 58 year old man and remember a lot of times him hitting so many key shot!
Favorite guard in my teenage years
😭😭😭these were the best years of my life that 2004 run was epic for Detroit
“How good was Tayshaun Prince or Richard Hamilton?” Please make it...
7 straight years of making the conference finals is insanely impressive for any player.
Muddiay is having similar begining like Billups
His career didn't began until he landed in Detroit. It was the best opportunity for him to showcase his talent and leadership ability. He was comfortable.
Man I went to Highschool with him, I was 2 years behind him and played some pick up games with him also very strong and smart , but the shows he gave us in those days was crazy #kingofparkhill Class of 95
The definition of a floor general. Never "I'm the best", but got his team to say "we're the best". Best leader I've got to witness.
He still is good...just older.
He's been retired for a while now bruh.
ZaZa Pachulia Is Better Than Jordan lol
I HAD TO GET MY BILLS UP LIKE CHAUNCEY
Fun fact: the ‘04 Pistons were the first East team since Jordan’s 98 Bulls to win the title
Top 5 PG of all time don’t @ me
Chauncey was smart.
Came back here after Chauncey got enshrined to the Hall of Fame. Congrats, brother.
Been waiting for this one Andy 👌🏾
Chauncey was the man! So many great memories of the Pistons and Billups especially.
He was kind of the prototype for the modern point guard, a guy who can create for himself and others at a high level. Damn shame nobody knew how to use him until he got to Detroit
He and Cassell were both very nice, all around pgs in the 2000s era. And they could play in any system. Guys like this are underrated.
Went to game 3 of the 04 Finals, and all three home games in 05.....Lots of great memories, and Chauncey was no joke....Miss those guys
The 2003-2007 Pistons and the 2001-2004 Sacramento Kings were my favorite teams to watch back in the day even though I have always been a knicks fan. Such great pure team basketball.
Detroit Pistons fans will forever be grateful for
Chauncey Billups!
Chauncey was my inspiration to start playing basketball
He was Great .
A Proof that Hard work pays off .
Hall of Fame
Definitely
Detroit Pistons legend
Reminds me a bit of Kyle Lowry if Kyle Lowry were a lot more clutch. Also kind of bouncing around teams til he found a good fit not the most explosive but also a good leader. I like Chauncey a lot and I think he deserves to be in the HOF, also hell of an analyst on ESPN. You can really tell his basketball iq was the reason he was so successful (not to knock his shooting and defensive abilities)
I used to love his game in his pistons years!
Love your vids man!!!
One of my favorite players in the nba..kinda remind me of jrue holiday these days..very underrated, filling up the stat sheets, great playmaker and defensive pg guard..
HOF??? Hell YEAH! There is no way they deny him... but then again, C-Webb still hasn't gotten in..
Can't Beat The BAY! that’s crazy tmac made it before c webb
Cweb hasn’t enter already cause that ncaa incident,i think thats the reason
@@trentonmullins4948 of course tmac made it over cwebb. Look at the accomplishments and the play of the two. Tmac shits on crybaby webber
@Jerry Lockhart Bruhh.. they let Rodman in, and his off court antics were next to none.
I remember Chauncey Billups when he won the NBA championship with Detroit Pistons by Steve Irungu Jermaine
CB was the best player I got in NBA 2K20 and he was incredible. Whenever I needed to be sure of a win, I brought CB in!
As a Pistons fan I still remember being mad we traded him
7mile!!!! Detroit all day. Great video Andy
While I love the bad boys, Billups era Pistons were incredibe to watch. I loved going to the home games and the finals were unreal. Chauncy always seemed chill and in total control at the same time.
Man i just loved this player, one of the last classic all star player.
I agree hes very versatile a very good leader in the court top 5 pg in hes era
