Good video as always. Just have to mention that saying Noah and Deng were 'pretty good' is an understatement. Both were allstars and excellent defenders. Noah was DPOY and an MVP candidate one year. Had a unique skillset. Deng is one of the more underrated players of late 2000s/early 2010s. He's not as good as Kawhi, but in that mould of not flashy but effective. His defense was underrated. Great system player. Good job for the NBA he was never a Spur in his prime.

If his body could have handled everything he threw at it, I think he would easily be a top 5-10 player of all time. We didnt even see him at his best, probably. He is basically a smarter Westbrook with a shot, he would have dominated if it wasnt for all the injuries. But then again, the injuries were to be expected seeing how he landed every single time.
Such a shame he never reached his full potential. You can see he really wants it. His 50 point game shows he still cares immensely for the game.

    @notatechguy1209 5 років тому +1

Realistically were looking at the best case for D Rose right now. He can give you at best in the right situation about 18 ppg., 5 reb., 5. asst. with about 25 to 30 min. on a nightly basis, which is great. This is going to have to be on a team where he is no higher than the third scoring option. Much like the roles of Tony Kukoc and Ron Harper during the Bulls last three titles in the 90's. Tony and Ron had been known as scorers before going to the Bulls (Ron with the Cavs and Clips/ Tony overseas) but would be no more than 3rd or 4th options with the Bulls, which was perfect for someone like Ron who had his own battles with injuries which effected his game a lot. Rose would be perfect on a team coming off the bench as a focused scorer during times where you want to rest your one or two option without losing to much on the offensive end. But he does best when the offense can flow through him, he just can't do it for 30 min plus anymore without risking injury. I would have liked to see him with the Lakers over Rondo backing up Lonzo or with a combo of him and Lonzo on the floor when Lebron is resting. The Lakers could have also used him with Lebron on the floor with Lebron playing off ball as well. I just hope the Wovles continue to use his talent once all their players are back and on the same page. I'm just happy for the guy but its bitter sweet because this would have probably been his last max deal years if he had been able to stay healthy during the last couple of years at least. Instead even if he does keep it up and get sixth man this year his max money days are over and that's a crime for a guy with as much talent and heart as this kid.

He's quietly been having a decently nice season, including a 30pt or so game that he had vs Dallas. He doesn't quite have the vertical that he had in 2011, but he can still finish at the basket, still moves extremely well laterally, and isn't afraid to attack. Hopefully he remains healthy and gets a huge confidence build off this game and we see a somewhat revival of D. Rose.*

Rose's 50 point game I think was one of my most favourite NBA moments since I started watching in 2009. Honestly right up there with Dirk winning a championship (both are two of my all-time favourite players). It just felt like that game was like Derrick letting out a sigh of relief for all he's been through the past 6 years. It broke my heart seeing him get waived last season and it taking weeks to find a new team, but I'm happy that he's back to thriving with the Timberwolves.
Side note, I think DSJ is the closest playstyle wise that we've seen to Rose. That being said I don't think he has the same ceiling.

I think alot of people forget how young he was and we never actually saw Rose's prime. Think of any other point guards or players in general who where putting up his stats, leading the top winning team in the league with not much help, and winning mvp. All just at 22 imagine how good who would be with maybe 5 more years and practice but with no injuries. I could easily see maybe the best point guard of all time.

Derrick Rose made me fall in love with the game of basketball when I was in middle school. I didn’t really care for sports, but my mom got my brother nba 2k14 for Christmas and decided to get a copy for me as well because I was honestly a no life gamer at the time. I was so trash that I ended up getting drafted by the Chicago bulls in the late first round. I didn’t know shit about the team besides the fact it was Michael Jordan’s old team and decided to look up their roster/highlights and I was absolutely amazed by what Derrick Rose was doing.

I wish Rose the very best. He is one of very few NBA players which make the game interesting to watch and to be taken seriously. I always hated the trend of step-back-3s and immobile giants dominating the league by trivializing this beautiful sport. But I guess it was just a matter of time. After all it is much easier to find a genetically gifted tall guy and drill him for high 3-point %ages than having real talents like Rose that do not only work their butts off all over the field but also bring high game iq, speed, athleticism and mobility and flawless dribble technique. The overall value of a player like Derrick Rose cannot be measured by unorganic numbers. It is almost like the fans can measure it intuitively infinitely better than any algorithm.

His shooting game vs lakers last week with the energy and explosiveness moxed in from his first 3 years and a big IQ, thats what prime DRose would look like. 30+ppg 10ast, 10reb, 5blocks, 3 steals. Something like that probably with a 40% 3pt shot

I have to say, the way he played down the stretch for us last year and even against Houston and now to start the season, he looks primed to win the 6th man award. He’s played well and is getting rewarded with a ton of minutes off the bench. Without the Butler drama, I think Rose would be a main talking point of the NBA this year, or at least the West.

@Paul Meras learn what the hell prime means before using your own dumb logic. A Prime player is one that is at their absolute best. You don't assume that they're going to be better than their early years because players like Tyreke Evans, Michael Carter Williams, and Brandon Jennings all had decreasing career numbers but they were entering their supposed Prime. Derrick Rose's Prime was definitely his MVP season whether you believe it or not. What is up with idiotic fans and their pointless what ifs? Who's to say Derrick wouldn't have fell off by the age 30? I know he wouldn't have but still. You can't assume when his absolute best will be.

I'm one of the people that believes LeBron deserved the MVP that year by almost every metric, but I also understand why Rose got it. There was a large bias against LeBron at the time, he was the villain. Rose took a not very good Bulls squad to the best record in the league, and in that sense he kinda embodied the most valuable player by definition

If Rose continues to play at this level (not 50 points, but 17+ a night off the bench), I think he will be in All-star consideration as soon as this season. Even though it's the West, I think narrative will play a huge role. I don't think he'll make it this year, but it will be similar to Lou Willaims' run last year. And even though that would be something I would die to see, I would rather have him put up solid numbers, ask for a buyout after the potential Butler trade, and sign with a contender like the Rockets or even the Spurs.

  • @stephenwestlake5928

If he wasn't such a great point guard and didn't play his position to perfection like he did when he was in his prime and was solely focused on putting the basketball in the hoop he would have easily average 30 plus a game. Dude absolutely was a generational talent at that position in his prime. Such a same injuries and mental issues affected his game. Easily could be having the conversation of why he would is a top 10 player of all time if he didnt. But you can talk about what could've been all day sadly doesn't prove anything. Wish we could have seen him play his career out before the injuries

He is not over yet man. He is not the Prime Rose. He is already a mature man, knowing how to control himself throughout the game. He will never be the same again but still I am a solid D.Rose Fan 😁

Although I know when most people say "prime" Rose they mean when he was at the peak of his career to date, the crazy thing is that wasn't actually prime Rose. He never got to reach his prime. 22 years old and still a lot of learning to do and he carried that offense night in and night out despite no other playmakers on the team. The only real dangerous guy was Korver who was mainly a shooter off the bench.

For me he still didn't enter on his prime years or peak years, it's just a glimpse of what is coming once he age around 26-27 years old.. It's just a scratch to the surface.. But unfortunately we don't have a chance to witness the greatness of a rose that has been fully bloom already.

Actually we never witnessed D Rose's prime. The season he tore his ACL, the one after his MVP season...he was actually much improved player than his MVP season...And it was surely going uphill in upcoming seasons had it not been for his injuries.
